It was fine. We haven't done anything about it but it was fine. The price was fine. He talked a lot. These older people talk a lot so that was my only thing. My husband liked him.

Energysmith's Mike Fowler was the most knowledgeable insulation professional with whom I spoke prior to selecting his company to do the work. I placed trust in his company's ability to do the best job—and they did. The crew arrived as scheduled and did the work professionally. There was one gap where the insulation sprayed over. They assumed responsibility for the oversight and replaced the items that were hit by the cell foam. I would use them again.

I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT MIKE & HIS CREW. THEY WERE GREAT & I WOULD DIFFIDENTLY CALL THEM BACK SHOULD THE NEED ARISE.

Mike arrived on time and was very knowledgeable and professional.

I called them and Mike came out, sat and talked with me for a while and drew up an estimate. He is very experienced. The estimate was very reasonable, compared to others I got. The crew came up just as scheduled about 2 weeks later. They were very professional and answered all my questions. I can notice the difference in the house.

Mike Fowler and two co-workers sealed and insulated my attic. They used aluminum flashing and high-temperature silicone caulk to seal gaps around the chimney flue, and used expanding foam or caulk to seal the cracks and openings around plumbing vent pipes and electrical wires. They installed a solar attic fan in the gable vent. They extended the rafter vents, blew in additional loose fill insulation to achieve R38 (recommended for Zone 4 Asheville NC) and added an attic stair insulator. Mike, Bob and Bill were very courteous and extremely professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend EnergySmith.

The experience was great. I met with Mike at my home on Thursday. They had an opening for Saturday, and I was very excited to get this taken care of (the weather was getting cold). I was pleased to hear about Mike's credentials, and he educated me about the benefits of insulating and air sealing. He made me a very good bid for the job. Mike gave me specific instructions for how to prepare (cleaning out a closet for easy access to the attic), and the rest was very easy. The crew arrived on-time and finished the job in a very reasonable amount of time (about 5 hours). Everyone was very pleasant to be around, and they were very polite around my wife and son as well. The effects of the air-sealing and added insulation were noticeable immediately. The air in our home felt more still, quieter, and the temperature felt more even throughout the house. Nearly 9 months later, I have noticed a substantial decrease in our home energy consumption. Our winter-time consumption went down about 10% compared to last year (same average outdoor temps), BUT we kept the heat set a full 5 degrees higher! That's way more than a 10% improvement (some estimate that each degree is worth an additional 5%). Considering the amount of insulation added, it could definitely be a 30-35% improvement. PLUS, this may reduce some wear-and-tear on the heat pump. Summer time cooling has amounted to a 20% decrease in energy consumption (an added benefit)! Overall, I am very pleased. The service was excellent, and I am very pleased with the work.

As described by Mike! The work was completed with minimal drywall tear out. And though Mike does not offer drywall cut out and repair one of his men did. In and out in two days! Mike was the only provider who I thought knew what he was talking about. Thanks Mike!

Extremely thorough and professional and not pushy at all

These guys were pros from the very beginning! From the initial Angie's Deal to do an assessment all the way thru the job that was one of those "Who wouldn't hire this company to do the job!" completion. Mike and his very professional crew arrived on time and did an over-the-top outstanding job. Without a doubt I would hire them back again and plan to and would not hesitate to give them a top block reference. And I SELDOMLY ever do that! When Mike comes out and gives you the details on what and why you need what he identifies, I really don't see how anyone could justify not hiring his company to do the job. He's is highly certified in his profession and even teaches it! This is NOT a fly by night outfit and its not snake oil that he's selling. Top notch job that I'd rate an 11 out of 10! They're that good folks!

The result was that I will be hiring this company to improve the insulation in my attic. Very professional meeting and informative as well. They know their stuff and are right up front with you about the whats and whys. Highly recommend. Will do another review when they do the insulation improvement.

We bought an Angies's List Special from Energy Smith Home Performance and from the time we purchased this serve until we received the report they acted promptly and with professionalism. The assessment of our home was thorough with detail analysis of the functioning of the insulation, HVAC, etc. With the report that followed we were better able to proceed with a basement project and choose the proper insulation and installation needed to have an efficient space when completed.

The job was explained in detail of what and why these services would be the best way to fix my problem which was a house that couldn't be cooled down or warmed up enough for comfort even if you ran the heat or A/C all day and night. It took about a day and a half to complete the job with two men and the owner working continuously on the job to completion. They were very polite and pleasant to have in one's home. The cam lights had to be ordered, and it was supposed to be about a month until they were to arrive, but they received them in just a few days. One of the men came back quickly to replace the new light bulbs. He was prompt and very helpful, and gave me time to figure out which light bulbs to replace since I didn't replace every light bulb in the house. The price is partially based on a residence of about 5,000 sq. ft. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a more energy efficient home.

It went really well we spoke over the phone. He suggest a video to watch that gave a demo for what needed to be done. He clarified what the deal entailed and which led me to decide that I didn't need the service. Him and his secretary were very nice and personable.

We recently hired Mike Fowler of EnergySmith to add insulation to our attic and install a solar attic fan. It turned out to be a very big job which took longer than anticipated. But, Mike took it all in stride and kept working diligently until the job was done. Mike is dedicated and very conscientious about doing the job right. He has an extensive background in construction and energy conservation. We were especially pleased with the quality of materials used. Mike was dependable and did a thorough clean-up when the job was completed. We obtained several quotes before giving the job to EnergySmith. Mike offered higher quality with radiant barriers and a solar attic fan -- both of which substantially increased energy efficiency. The benefits of adding attic insulation became quickly evident -- heat pump didn't run as much, temperature stayed more even, house felt more comfortable. But most important of all -- it will result in major energy cost savings. Since heating/cooling costs continue to rise, anything you can do now to help offset future rate increases will pay you back with significantly lower energy bills. We highly recommend EnergySmith to anyone considering upgrading their attic insulation.

Mike came out and immediately checked the attic and basement as well as some other things on the first and second floor. He said the main problem was there were no soffit vents in the attic, and the insulation was greatly under the desired R factor. He explained the theory as to why this lack caused the problem upstairs. He said this would need to be done first before we could even check the efficiency of our AC unit because if the attic is not insulated and vented properly, it works the AC unit to death. The AC was working all day to cool off the second floor but wasn't succeeding because of the attic issues. This was wearing out the unit and running up the utility bill. We had Mike do the work and now the temperature upstairs is always within 1 degree of the setting. Major difference and worth every cent. He knows what he is talking about. Punctual, knowledgeable, courteous and a great guy.

They were very pleasant to deal with. They installed the insulation, found that the attic fan was dead, so that they installed a solar fan. They were totally professional and competent, and we have noticed the results already. The house is definitely cooler.

Energy Smith completed the contract quickly, and went above and beyond my expectations. They sealed up the space, installed insulated board at no extra cost, helped to move "stuff" stored in the attic where needed to complete the job, insulated it to R38 or better, and installed a solar attic ventilation fan. They cleaned the work area when they finished also leaving behind a neat looking and very improved space. Best of all, they found credits from the local power company worth $340 and a federal tax credit on the fan for $970 for the solar fan which will cover a significant portion of the total price making the final total cost to me very affordable and most importantly attainable. The final price doesn't include the fact that my energy costs will be lower each month and will soon pay for the entire project. I would not be surprised to actually make money after a year or two of lowered heating and cooling bills. And that not to mention that my living space will be a pleasant place in both the cold winters and hot summers. A+ work.
