DAN ARRIVED RIGHT ON TIME PRIOR TO THIS AND GAVE A CALL TO SAY HE WAS ON HIS WAY. I LIKED HIS PROFESSIONALLISM FROM THE FIRST. HE STARTED INSDE ON MY 2ND FLOOR UNIT AND WHILE IN THE ATTIC HE LOOKED UP INTO THE OPENING TO THE TINY CRAWL SPACE OF MY STORY AND 1/2 HOME. JUST TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY ANY EVIDENCE FROM THE RAIN DAMAGE WHICH I WAS HAVING SOME ROOFING ISSUES WITH. HE POINTED TO AN AREA THAT HAD BEEN WET WHICH WAS HELPFUL SINCE I AM WORKING ON A HAIL DAMAGE CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I GOT GOOD PHOTOS OF THIS WHICH WERE HELPFUL AS AN EXTRA! THE UNIT WAS CLEANED, CHECKED OUT AND FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION. THEN HE WENT TO GROUND LEVEL CRAWL SPACE AND DID HIS CHECKUP ON THAT FIRST FLOOR FURNACE WHICH IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD....WAS ALSO IN GOOD SHAPE. WHEN HE CHECKED THE TWO OUTSIDE UNITS HE CAME TO ME AND EXPLAINED THEIR SITUATION AS HE HAD DONE ON EACH OF THE OTHERS. THEY ARE IN GOOD COOLING CONDITION FOR NOW AND DOWN THE ROAD THERE MAY NEED TO BE SOME REPAIRS AS IS TRUE TO ALL AIR CONDITIONERS. I LOVED BEING A PART OF THE TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT VIEWING AND UNDERSTANDING IT!!! SO, THE IDEA IS THAT THEY BOTH COOL FOR NOW FINE BUT HAVE SOME AGE ON THEM AND WILL BE FINE UP TO WHO KNOWS WHEN...POSSIBLY SEVERAL YEARS.. HE GAVE ME VERY DOWN TO EARTH EXPLANATIONS WHICH I CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD AS I HAVE HAD MANY RENTAL HOUSES IN THE PAST. IT IS REASSSURING THAT DURING THESE MUGGY NIGHTS KNOWING THAT MY TOTAL SYSTEMS WORK BEAUTIFULLY AND THAT HE IS HERE FOR ME IF I EVER SHOULD NEED HIM. OF COURSE I KNOW MY FURNACES WILL BE THERE WHEN THIS HOT MUGGY TIME TURNS COLD AS OPPOSED TO YEAR BEFORE LAST WHEN ONE OF MY MY FURNACES DIED! MY TECHNICIAN AT THAT TIME HAS BEEN, AND STILL IS, A DISSAPPOINTMENT TO ME. I LEFT HIM AND BOUGHT MY NEW FURNACE FROM ANOTHER COMPANYY. DAN DID A THOROUGH TUNE UP OF ALL UNITS AND CLEANED THE OUTSIDE UNITS AFTER ALL OF THE EXPLANATIONS. HOW COULD ANYONE ASK FOR MORE. AND.....BE SO REASONABLY PRICED? I HAVE HIS CARD AND WILL DEFINITELY ASK FOR HIM OVER THE YEARS. HE IS GREAT TO WORK WITH AS I KNOW HE WILL BE GOOD IN THE FUTURE. HIS TRUE CARE FOR PEOPLE SHOWS IN HIS WORK. ....WHAT A NICE MAN AND COMPANY WHICH HE REPRESENTS.....YOU SHOULD CALL THEM.....I HAVE ALREADY GIVEN MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR HIS PHONE NUMBER, AS, PREVIOUSLY, I HAD ASKED HER WHO SHE USED BEFORE CALLING 72 DEGREES COMPANY, THANKS TO ANGIES LIST.....SHE HASN'T USE ANYONE WHO HAS MET THE EXPECTATIONS SHE HAS. I GUESS SHE IS AS PARTICULAR AS I AM. I AM GLAD I LOOKED ON ANGIE'S LIST AND FOUND THE HVAC COMPANY FOR ME! AND FOR MY NEIGHBOR., ALSO!!!
Description of Work: DAN, WAS WONDERFUL. I HAVE 2 SYSTEMS AND HE DID AN AIRCONDITION AND HEATING, VERY COMPLETE, SERVICE AND CHECK ON ALL FOR COMPONANTS. HE WAS HERE ABOUT THREE HOURS

After ordering the deal from Angies List, I received an email from them within 12hrs. I was able to schedule an appointment within 2 days. The service tech (James) was great. He came about 10min early, explained everything he was going to do, and then got right to work. He spent 3.5hrs inspecting and cleaning all my HVAC systems, he showed me pictures of all the dirt and crud he cleaned off, then he explained his readings on various parts of my HVAC. They did do a bit of 'upselling' in an attempt to sell their annual maintenance plan and filter plan, but they were very polite when I said I wasn't interested, so I didn't feel any hard-sell.
Description of Work: They did a complete "tune up" and cleaning of my 2 furnaces and 2 air conditioners.

I purchased the Big Deal for our two systems, and feel I got my money's worth. The technician did all the things the Big Deal advertised. I was especially pleased with the cleaning of the various components. The tech showed me a picture of the cleaning stuff he used to get the dirt out of the AC coils. He mentioned the fact that since it was brown, I had a lot of dirt. He replaced a capacitor which was operating well outside its specifications. This will apparently keep my blower fan alive and save me money.
Description of Work: The tech basically brought me up to date from having not performed service on the unit in five years. He was at the house working for about two hours.

My experience was quite positive. Dan said that my 11-year old equipment was in good repair and offered some suggestions for improvement, but did not try to sell me anything. I highly recommend 72 Degrees!
Description of Work: I purchased a discounted HVAC checkup through Angie's List, planning to call for an appointment within 2 or 3 days. The company promptly called me, scheduled an appointment at my convenience, and called the day before to confirm. Dan showed up on time and instead of taking the 45 minutes to an hour I expected, he spent 1 1/2 hours to thoroughly check out both my gas heater and my outdoor compressor for the air conditioner. He explained in detail what he found and gave me a heads up about one of the components on the heater that is likely to fail within the next couple of years. Shannon called me to schedule, to remind me of the appointment, and then to follow up afterwards to make sure that I was satisfied. Both she and Dan were very professional and quite pleasant.

I purchased the online Angie's Deal of $79/unit for furnace and A/C maintenance/tune up. The company promptly called me up the next morning to schedule a time for service. I was able to receive an appointment for the next day. The technician arrived within the promised 2 hour window and was courteous and professional. He performed the services and restored the settings on the thermostat to where they had been. There was no "hard sale" of any kind. Everything was functioning well, but getting old I was told (this I expected). He was also helpful in warning about the importance of a carbon monoxide detectors as the heat is gas and if the aging furnace cracks it could be deadly. The service took about 40 minutes start to finish.
Description of Work: I purchased the online Angie's Deal of $79/unit for furnace and A/C maintenance/tune up. The technician the services, turning on the heat and checking the units inside and outside, doing the same with the A/C, and restoring the settings on the thermostat to where they had been.

I had been getting the runaround for over a week from my home warranty company, who kept trying to deny that our air conditioner was broken in a way they would cover. The condensate pump had failed on our house (in which we've only lived a month). We have been without air conditioning for 9 days already, with two small children, and the warranty people were going to make us wait another day just to look at the unit again, with additional days' wait to repair. In desperation, I looked on Angie's List to see if I could find a more responsive company. 72 degrees listened to my story, and they arranged to have someone come out today. I called them around 1pm, and they said that the tech might be here after 5pm owing to the hour I called. An hour later, they called to see if I would mind if the tech got here earlier and gave me an ETA. Not only did the tech show up on time, but from the time he arrived on my doorstep to the time I felt the air come on, it only took eighteen (18) minutes. Eighteen minutes to fix what another company was going to take more than ten days to think about! I called my realtor, and the warranty company was so embarrassed by the rapidity of 72 Degrees' service, that they agreed to reimburse us the full $437 amount. (The $437 was after applying the Angie's List $25 coupon.) Since the warranty company was concerned that the pump may have failed for one of their non-covered reasons, the tech, Bill, made sure to note the actual cause of the pump failure on my receipt so that I might be reimbursed. The receptionist was amazingly helpful and quick to keep me up to date, the tech was professional, competent, and helpful, and I am 100% impressed with this company. I only marked "B" on price because I don't know enough about HVAC pricing to know where their price goes on the scale. I think the price was totally worth it, though! My babies are not too sweaty headed to nap now, and we are not swamped with humidity inside the house. Not only would I theoretically use this company's services again, I definitely will. I signed up for the semi-annual maintenance plan before the tech left.
Description of Work: We had a condensate pump and switch replaced. They were able to see us the same day.

Requested the company look at an issue with my A/C blower housing building condensation. I noticed the major leak on a Sunday. When I called, I was told a technician would call me back for a service call. That return call happened two days later. After rescheduling with me twice, they finally made it out to look at my A/C unit. The technician was more than professional and did every check he could do in his skill set (according to him). He found nothing wrong with the system, but noticed an obvious build-up in rust as a result of water retaining in the housing. The tech called his boss and promised me, in writing, I would be notified the next day for him and his boss to come back and do more checks or possibly a quote for a new unit after I expressed I was interested in that option as well. He then proceeded to claim the $79 for the service call with nothing other than a couple of checks performed. I have not heard anything from 72 degrees since then. Tech name: Chris B Boss name: David
Description of Work: Check the blower housing on my A/C Checked voltage on Compressor Checked Supply/Return Pressure Checked Duct Work The above was described as "Analysis" on the paperwork.

Over all it went great as described in the aforegoing paragraph.
Description of Work: My fan stopped spinning and noticed it was overheating so i turned off the unit. i called 72 Degrees Heating and Air conditioning and was able to get them over the following morning at 8:00AM. The technician easily diagnosed the problem quickly and told me he had the parts on the truck. He replaced the fan motor and it's running fine. He showed up on time and had a very pleasant attitude. he was friendly to my dogs which i liked. We sat down and discussed the condition of the unit and I never felt like i was being pressured into buying a new one. He said as long as the compressor's strong and it's the liquids are not leaking (I think that was the other thing), to just take care of it and hopefully it will last a long time. We discussed the warranty which always seems to be a bone of contention. he assured me that if anything happened to the fan motor that they would come out and replace it and I didn't have to pay another fee for them to come out. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. it did cost $460.00 but from everyone i've talked to it seemed to be a reasonable price.

The technician, Curtis, was very thorough and professional. He took that unit apart and cleaned and tested every component. He explained everything he was doing and went over his report with me before he left. My unit was working OK unit to begin with, but I know it is in perfect condition now. I was so impressed that I have signed up with 72 Degrees for annual checkups for both the AC and the heating unit. This is the third company I have hired from Angie's List and I have been very satisfied with all of them. (Gutter Cleaning Professionals and Artisan Irrigation are the others.) It is so much better than picking out of the phone book or having to call neighbors to get recommendations, which may or may not work.
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's List coupon for $59 to have my air conditioning unit inspected, cleaned and tuned up for the summer season. I got the best, most thorough job I have ever had on my unit.

I like the service. They are very neat and clean. They were meticulous in the small details, which is one of the things I've noticed about them. The service was quick and they were very responsive. There were a couple of miscommunications and that type of thing but the issue was resolved within half an hour after I called the office. It was a minor thing but it impressed me with the quickness of the customer service. The price could always be better. I will absolutely use them in the future.

I tried to use the Angie's List coupon for spring service on my air conditioning unit but was told, the company doesn't own a ladder long enough to get to the attic unit. This seems strange as I've had attic units in the past and techs have always come out with long ladders. In addition, I feel I should warn people that the tech had my phone number but didn't call for directions when he wasn't able to gps my address. Nor did he call to let me know when to expect him. When the "8 to 10 am" window was about up, I called the office. They didn't know where he was and had to track him down. Have to grade poorly for that, too. And, since I had to call them a week after the tech didn't repair anything, only to be told they couldn't help me, I'd have to give them a poor grade for not following up w/ me in a timely manner. (I took time off from work, to be here for the tech, who didn't repair anything.) The company is going to arrange for a refund of the money for the Angie's List coupon but that's small consolation for wasting my time and still not getting serviced.

Hello member, My name is Eddie Blanchard, and I am the owner and general manager of 72 Degrees Heating and Air. It is always our mission to exceed each customer’s expectations and ensure that they are happy with our services, and I sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced with our company. I understand you took time away from work for us to service the system, and that we did not have the right equipment on our truck to work on your unit that particular day. We would like to rectify this issue beyond refunding the money you spent, and gain another opportunity to provide you with the quality service you expect, and that we are known for. Your system is located in a particularly high attic space that requires a long ladder rarely used in residential heating and air conditioning. I’m unsure if you received the message, but my Service Manager did reach out to express his concern and let you know that we would be more than willing to purchase the necessary ladder and that he would personally service your air conditioning system. Our office staff handled your situation improperly, and should have been briefed on the fact that we intended on getting the necessary equipment to service the unit as soon as possible. We have recently held several meetings to ensure this will not happen again as it is always our goal address every negative situation in order to provide top notch customer service. If you have not yet had service on your air conditioning system, I would (along with our service manager), like to extend an offer to ensure it is properly serviced at no cost to you. Please feel free to contact my office at anytime to ask for my personal cell number. I would love to hear from you and learn how we can earn your faith and trust. I assure you that the problems you had with us have been addressed and will never happen again.

I bought a coupon from Angie's List for an annual tune-up and service of my A/C units (x2). The next day a representative called to make the appointment - I was happy about this prompt service as I didn't have to remember to do it. The day of the appointment, the service man called to tell me he was on the way. He went to work and found that I needed a part for my upstairs unit. Everything went smoothly and was start to finish easy on my part.
Description of Work: Serviced both A/C units, had to replace a part which he carried on the truck. He was prompt and courteous and wore protective coverings on his work boots to enter my house.

People from 72 Degrees Heating and Air Conditioning Company were very professional. The company seems to offer a good warranty program. Their people are very quick to come out if one has a problem. I would recommend them. Their interaction with their customers is very good. They are prompt. The air conditioning unit that we purchased from them has worked better than the other ones we have had in the past. We are pleased with that. I would use them again in the future.

The service guy arrived as scheduled and performed service on all three systems, spending approx 2 hrs and everything checked out fine.
Description of Work: 72 Degress Heating and Air Conditioning performed a service check on our 3 unit system. First of all I will say they have very good customer service and follow up email prior to service date. My real complaint is they advertise regular service as 185.00 and special for 59.00(this is for one unit only). I explained to the rep prior to contracting service with them that I had a 3 unit system and she told me since I was an Angie's List member just sign up for 2 systems(all the pull down menu allows also) and pay 118.00 and she would let the service guy know I had 3 systems and was an Angies list member, thinking I was being given the 3rd system as part of the 118.00 , thinking there would be no additional fee later. After the work was done I was surprised to be charged an additional 59.00. If i was going to be charged the 59.00 when I called why was this not collected up front if the 118.00 did not cover the full amount. There was no mention about me paying this after they recieved my 118.00 purchase for their discounted service thru Angies list. So I called the sales rep and asked her why I was being charged the extra 59.00, she told me she would check on it. 5min later I got a call back it was because I had 3 units, well this was already disclosed when I signed up and no mention of this charge was forth coming. I suggest people shop around as there are other companies that will do 3 systems for similar price without the inflated mark down. That means the regular retail would be 185 x 3 or 555.00 just for a 3 unit system check. The lady apoligized for the miscommunication, so I suggest people get total price in writing and not just assume the discount coupon covers the total service call, I would have shopped around some if I knew it was going to be 177.00 even with their "special".

My name is Eddie Blanchard, and I am the owner and general manager of 72 Degrees Heating and Air. After reading your review on Angie's List, I spoke with the member of our office staff who originally took your call for the system cleanings, and she explained the misunderstanding that occurred when you booked our services. I believe our current coupon stated that it could be used for a maximum of two systems, and when you called we stated that since you are an Angie's List member we would honor the coupon rate for all three system checks, which is $59 instead of our regular price ($89) to do the cleaning. We are sorry for the misunderstanding that all three systems would be cleaned and checked for the reduced rate of only two. I'm glad we were able to contact you immediately to apologize for this mishap, and to clarify how we could still provide the services you requested at a reduced rate, and that you found us to be prompt, professional and to provide good quality services in your home. If you decide to try using our company for any future HVAC needs again, please don't hesitate to call and ask for me directly so we can work together to ensure you are 100% satisfied with your next service.

Another service company had diagnosed the evap. coils in my A/C units as needing replacement. I thought their quote to do the work was high so I shopped around and 72 Degrees was one of the providers I called. Unfortunately 72 Degrees was unwilling to accept the prior diagnosis and insisted that they would need to perform their own problem determination for $160 before quoting me a repair estimate. Since I was confident in the initial diagnosis & was not interested in paying another diagnostic fee I took my business elsewhere.

Response from 72 Degrees Heating & Air Conditioning
Hello member: My name is Eddie Blanchard, and I am the owner and general manager of 72 Degrees Heating and Air. I am responding to your review as it is always our mission to provide quality services to our customers, and ensure they are completely satisfied. Quite often, our experienced and certified technicians find mistakes with other HVAC company diagnoses, which is why we wanted to take time to properly survey and diagnose your system challenges upon arriving at your home. If we were to fix your system based on another company’s recommendations and it broke down again, you would obviously not be satisfied with our services and we would need to stand by our guarantees and repair your system on our dime. Misdiagnosed problems can require multiple trips to a customer’s home, and that would be an inconvenience to you in terms of wasted time and money. If your system has not yet been repaired by another company, I would ask that you call our office and ask for my personal cell number. In this case, I am willing to waive our diagnostic fee if your original diagnoses is in fact correct, and you choose to use our company to repair your system. I am confident that we can fix your HVAC issues by providing a comprehensive, quality service which guarantees your comfort.

Everyone I interacted with was very professional as well as friendly. There were other groups that I looked at that were less expensive, but 72 has the BEST warranties out of the service providers I looked into. I know they stand behind it as well. One of my friends used them and had an issue after installation; he told me the fix was taken care of immediately, and the president of the company came out to make sure he was satisfied. These folks stand behind their name and that means a lot to me.
Description of Work: I had a new 2 ton unit installed, duct cleaning, a replacement thermostat, and a higher end filter system for the return. The old equipment was hauled off as well.

Heating had cut out, called a number of places and these guys were the first to get back to us, and happened to be the cheapest service call price. ($79) Nice thing: didn't have higher rate for after hours. Came and spent a bit looking at the furnace, turns out our circuit board needed replacing. Of the few things they had to order parts for, this was one of them. Offered space heaters, but we declined, as we still had heat upstairs (separate systems). Said would come back when it came in. Upon calling the next morning to confirm that's what we wanted (we were also considering replacing the whole unit, or seeing if we could re-solder the board ourselves, silly people we are) they ordered the part, but told us it'd be a few days since noone had it locally. Was bummed, but upon another call she pushed to force someone to go looking for it and indeed there was one, so she cut the repair time from "a couple days for shipping and then we'll be out the next day" to "tomorrow." Yay. Apparently guy went to pick up part at 6am or somesuch terrible-ness, and was repairing it the next morning. I wasn't home when he got there to do the work, but he started without me and by the time i was driving up he was done and just needed to be sure the whole thing worked with the thermostat. All in all out of heat downstairs for 1.5 days, glad it wasn't longer. We were happy enough with them to buy a service contract for our whole system, which gave us a discount on the part and extended the warrantee on it. Our total of 800 was 79 for the initial service call, ~550 for the part with discount, and ~170 for the year long service contract. Friendly, clean, prompt, and did their best to get us heated again ASAP. Would definitely use again.

The price was higher than others. The customer service seemed to be a major component of their overall package. They followed up several times so they were constantly engaged through the quoting process.

They did a very good job. They came in and finished the job in less than a day. Everything has been working fine since. The guys were very professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. They used drop-cloths and wore booties so that they did not dirty our house.

The duct work and initial installation of the new HVAC system started on a Thursday and we were told the installation was complete at 5:00 pm on Friday. Although this company claims to leave your house in the same condition they found it, the installation crew left mud and adhesive in the utility room. They also did not rehang a door they had removed. To make matters worse, by 7:30 pm Friday night, the HVAC outside unit was making a sound I can only liken to a helicopter landing!! We called the 24 hr service number and were told to turn the system off and they would return the next morning at 8:00 am. They finally arrived on Saturday at 10:30 am (yes, not happy about they 2 1/2 hr delay and the loss of the day's plan to this installation) and when the service gentleman looked at the system he discovered that the initial installers had wired the HVAC system incorrectly. He rewired the system and then we asked him to go over the system with us as the initial installers were in such a hurry to leave, they had only given us the new thermostat box, with the instructions, to read. It was then that we discovered that several of the upgrades we have on our signed contract had not been installed. We called 72 Degrees on Monday and were told that the upgrade items weren't on their copy of the contract and we would need to talk to the gentleman that sold us the HVAC system. We called him immediately and were told that those items were in fact on the contract (in the notes part of the contract - not on the "checklist") and we were in fact entailed to the upgrades. We scheduled a time for the remainder of the system to be installed, but the evening before they were due to come back (2 weeks after the initial installation), we got a call that the ordered upgrade parts were had not been delivered from the supplier. The upgrade installation was rescheduled for the next week. They returned to install the upgrades and discovered that one of the parts was missing. They installed what they could and told us they would be back to install the remaining part when it was received. Approximately 10 days later, the part was in and they returned to install the last part. Finally, by Thanksgiving we had our complete HVAC system installed (yes, 5 weeks after the initial installation). Very disappointed in 72 Degrees taking 5 weeks to complete an HVAC installation!! We can say that new Installation Manager (the one that worked for 72 Degrees at the beginning of our installation was no longer with the company by the end of our installation) accompanied the installers at the upgrade installation to make sure everything was done properly. The Installation Manager and the office person (Beth) were great during this whole prolonged installation and they would be the reason we would use 72 Degrees again. In addition, 72 Degrees reduced the price of the HVAC package by $500 since the installation wasn't complete in the time period promised. We can also report that the installers were great (after the initial installation) of leaving our utility room/area in as good as, if not in better condition, then it was prior to their arrival. We believe our experience was an anomaly. We also believe that 72 Degrees did everything they could to make this as good an experience as they could under the circumstances and they worked hard to rectify any issues.

Salesperson came and inspected heating system. Tried to sell us duct cleaning service, which is not what we had him there for. Gave us an estimate around $7,000 - approx $3,000 more than other HVAC Co estimates. Included all kinds of extras - lifetime parts and repair for unit among other things. It all sounds good, except that you are paying for all these "maybe situations" up front. Also the unit they wanted to install did not have very good rating.

Response from 72 Degrees Heating & Air Conditioning
Hello member: I am sorry to see that you were disappointed with the estimate received by 72 Degrees in November to replace your gaspack. Since the gas pack is essential to a heating unit's proper functioning and is so expensive to replace, we often recommend replacing the entire unit rather than ordering and repairing that part. We always offer an "apples to apples" cost for our services that matches other HVAC companie's pricing, but our deluxe system packages are priced higher because our company offers a 10-year warranty and service package that no one else in the area offers. This package can potentially save you $1,000's of dollars in repairs as your unit ages, and is an unmatched guarantee. It is also custom to offer duct cleaning services when going to someone's home to repair or replace their HVAC unit since the cleaning of your ducts guarantee that your system will function more efficiently in the future, also saving you money over time. I would be interested to know where you saw a negative rating of the particular model quoted to you that day, as we only sell equipment with outstanding ratings to our customers. We sell various brands of equipment with different price points for different budgets, and to accommodate the unique sizing needs of our customer's homes. Some of our brands are not as well known as well-advertised equipment like Trane and Carrier, but all of them are highly rated. We appreciate your original call to 72 Degrees to get an estimate on your system, and would love to have an opportunity to come out again if you have any HVAC issues in the future. Please don't hesitate to call our office and ask for me (Eddie Blanchard) personally so we can work together to ensure you are 100% satisfied should you choose to use us again. Most Sincerely, Eddie
