Technician was consciencious and thorough in his evaluation of 3 HVAC units. His explanations of how he was testing each component were clear and thorough. He gave me recommendations on how to improve performance, as well as what would be likely to break down in the future. He also told me what signs and symptoms to watch for. Outstanding cleaning and assessment service.
Description of Work: They did complete systems checks on our 3 different HVAC units for 3 floors. Each unit is varying in age and type. After recently purchasing the home, I feel this company did an outstanding job of assessing the HVAC systems thoroughly and with the proper tools. The technician was certified by NATE in the HVAC industry. He gave me a good description of the age and condition of each unit; recommended what would most likely be the next part to break down, showing me how and why he determined this. He replaced one thermostate to a digital, programmable kind, and recommended filters that could be changed every 3 months over the monthly change filters, which fit my lifestyle better, because 2 of the 4 filters are on the ceilings and require getting a ladder and tools to open the vents.

We called them. THey came exactly on time. THey gave us a fair estimate. We looked upp the unit they recommended on consumer reports and it was excellent. The unit was put in with a minimum of muss and fuss. It was a great experience.

Technician showed up on time. Expained the process he would follow. Inspected the system then explained the options I could take. Performed the repairs I approved then checked the system to verify everything was funcioning properly.

I contacted 72 Degrees on Saturday 9/29 because I thought that my blower motor on my 20 year old upper HVAC unit had finally worn out because the fan did not appear to be working at all. They had installed our downstairs unit in January and we were satisfied well enough with the work done, minus a couple of minor hiccups, that we contacted them again to come and look at and quote a new upstairs unit. The Project Manager, Jeff, arrived on time for our Monday 3pm appointment. He spent an hour selling me on their company, which wasn't really necessary, and asking me a series of questions to determine what we wanted most out of our new unity. We went up to the attic and he began assessing the work to be completed. While we were looking around I noticed a light switch above the unit that was turned off. I asked Jeff what he thought it might be for. We turned it on and I went downstairs to turn on the fan. Voila, the unit turned on and our issue was solved. He listened to the blower motor and said that everything sounded fine, no wobble in the bearings, but recommended that we have a tune up. I asked him to go ahead and complete the energy analysis for our home because we would like the work done eventually and would like to have an idea ahead of time of what we would need. I also wanted him to see when our last tune up was and provide a quote for that work also. Before he left he said he would email me the energy analysis and get back with me the next day, Tuesday, with the quote. That was three days ago. I called and left a cellphone voice mail Wednesday evening and have had no response almost 24 hours later. While we ultimately did not need to purchase a new system at this time, we will have to buy one sooner rather than later. I was thrilled with Jeff's willingness to NOT try to sell us something we didn't need, but his lack of follow up has me questioning the companies customer service commitment. I have been a sales and customer service professional for 26 years, and communication and follow through are critical to secure a sale. We will not contact them when we are finally ready to replace this unit. They obviously do not want our business.

The tech, Chris, arrived on time and performed the inspection of my system. He was very professional and informative. I was provided with an estimate for work that needed to be performed on my system (12 yrs old). It was recommended that I consider replacing my system because of the age and the condition. The owner of the company called me and said that one of his sales reps would call me and schedule a time to come out and evaluate the size of my house and provide me with an estimate. As promised the sales representative did call me. The problem I have is that the sales rep tried to sell me a HVAC system without even coming out to my residence. I'm sorry but making a purchase like that is not going to be made over the phone. He didn't even try to make an appointment to come and make a sales call. I chose to have to have another company do the repair work. The pricing that 72 Degrees provided me was substantially higher than other the other company that performed the services. No pricing was shared with the other company and the cost was 50% less than what 72 Degrees quoted me. As I stated I can't say enough about Chris, the technician, and his work and professionalism. However, I can't say to anything good about the sales rep that tried to sell me a HVAC over the phone. My poor rating of the company is solely based off of my experience with the sales rep. The technician did a quality job.

Overall it went really well. The punctuality score was a C because they scheduled me but didn't actually have me on the service list for the day. The second time they were scheduled to come out, the representative was very punctual, and everything went fine.

I called 72 Degrees just this past Friday, 9/21/2012. The customer service representative, Sharon, was very courteous and listened closely to what I was needing help with. She was able to schedule Scott to come out the very next business day. Scott & Kyle showed up promptly for the 9am appointment. They listened attentively to the different "quality of service" issues I have been having with getting my A/C serviced from "other sorely lacking Service Providers" and I am so happy that I found 72 Degrees because they deliver professional results. The office staff, saleman, president and tchnicians were all very efficient and courteous. The work was done immediately and finished the same day. The president phoned me to make sure that everything was going well and left his cell phone number with me. I recommend this company highly. My utility bill has been cut by over 40% and my temperature is very, very even.

The crew came on time and installed the system. The team leader explained the controlling mechanism (we used to call the thermostat) to me. They appeared to do a very good job and cleaned up after themselves perfectly. I feel certain steps will be taken to make sure no one else has a negative experience in the future.
Description of Work: The initial contact with the company was great. A receptionist contacted me as soon as I purchased the "deal." She set up an appointment and the service man was prompt, pleasant, neat, thorough, and explained everything very clearly and detail. I called back to make an appointment for a project manager to make an assessment and an estimate. I have to divide the "professionalism" into two parts because the first project manager was NOT thorough, seemed bored and said something I found offensive. He also promised to email me an estimate because he had to leave in a hurry for another appointment (?) I waited over the weekend and two extra days without hearing from him. I was in a hurry because he promised me a buy-back on the money I had spent on repairs IF I bought the system by the end of the month. I called to complain and the owner of the company got right on the phone and promised me a new evaluation of what I'd need. The second project manager WAS professional, very thorough, took many measurements and gave me an estimate. Because the owner was so responsive and the second manager was so good, I bought the system.

Overall, I will recommend 72 Degrees Heating and Air Conditioning to all my friends and family for their needs. The company provided a great service, with minimal hassle and at a good price.
Description of Work: I called 72 Degrees Heating and Air Conditioning to perform a yearly preventative maintenance on the performance of my homes gas pack. The company was running a special on the service through August. The technician who was sent was extremely professional and courteous. He brought to my attention 2 areas of concern with the system which could cause future problems, one with the drain pan rusting, the other potential capacitor problem.. We discussed different resolutions, he was very helpful and not pushy . One of the concerns he handled that day, the other my husband will handle. I asked him to check my duct work under my homes crawl space after he performed the check up on the gas pack. He brought to my attention that one of the return ducts had fallen and it needed to be reattached. He offered to reattach it, however it would be an additional charge. I explained my son would do it that afternoon. He agreed without making me feel uneasy about not paying him or his company to do it.We discussed air conditioning filters and changing them on a regular schedule to maintain performance of the unit. He brought to my attention about a program his company has to supply filters, so I ordered them. It will differently save me time and money to have the filters shipped to my home. Also, I will more likely change them knowing the filters are in my closet.

The technician called me before leaving and arrived at my son's home on time. He completed tune-up and based on history he suspected checking for the leak and provided an estimate. Since house is too old I wanted to do my research on other options so we decided to wait.

Overall the work was performed extremely well. The motor stopped working on the early morning hours of Sunday, September 2. I had used 72 degrees previously to do routine maintenance and also replace a capacitor. Both times their work was excellent As you recall, the weather was in the mid to high 90's during this time. I called 72 degrees office on Sunday. A technicial called shortly after and ask me questions. He tried to work through the problem and had me do a few things with the zone system. (we have a dual thermestat system, one upstairs and one downstairs). They were over whelmed with repairs on this day but said someone would come out on Monday between 1-3 p.m. The repairman actually arrive about 12:30. He knew immediately what the problem was. He had to make a trip to Sanford to get some strap or something to hold the motor but when he arrived back he completed the job and the A/C has been working great eversince. I will definitely use 72Degrees for any future maintenance or work I need done.
Description of Work: The Evaporator blower motor on our air conditioner was not working. A new motor was installed and it is working perfectly.

I was unimpressed by this service. I'm not sure it was worth $60. I changed the air duct filter myself. The technician was uncertain about our system and gave me advice about more efficient use. We later heard opposite advise from two other H/AC inspectors when we were ready to weatherize the house. The tech suggested an ongoing service contract but was not pushy about it. I did not sigh up.

We would gladly have changed your filter when providing this service if you had one, or if we had one on our truck as each vehicle in our fleet has a variety of filters on hand. We have had multiple issues with our homes air conditioning over a period of eight years. Our home builder did a poor job of ensuring the quality of work of the HVAC subcontractor. Parts of our house were never properly cooled. The AC unit was running excessively leading to high energy bills. We have had to repair our AC at least once a year. Finally, this year we decided to solve the issue once and for all. We interviewed several companies and obtained multiple solutions and estimates for our AC problem. The solution provided by the 72 degrees representative, John, was the most logical and addressed all of our concerns. John spent quite a bit of time inspecting the house and explaining the extent of the problem. He also ensured that we understood the proposed solution and patiently answered all of our questions. The work was completed within 48 hours of signing the contract. For the first time since our house was built, every single room was cool. The air conditioning unit is very quiet. Even though the heat wave over the 4th of July week was pretty severe, our AC maintained a comfortable temperature on both stories of our house. We greatly appreciate the service and professionalism of the company. We plan to have 72 degrees solely service our HVAC system and we feel comfortable given them our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: 72 degrees replaced our air conditioning unit, corrected improper existing duct work, and added air intake vents and and a couple of air supply vents.

72 Degrees came out originally on 7/19 and repaired the outside unit. The air conditioning stopped working again a couple of weeks later, so they returned and made repairs to the inside units. The technician was timely and polite on both visits. We had some concerns about whether something was missed on the initial service date and about pricing. However, the company's manager was responsive to our concerns and willing to work with us. Overall, we are satisfied with the outcome.
Description of Work: Replaced start assist kit and dual run capacitor on outside unit for upstairs. On inside units replaced the run capacitors for both the upstairs and downstairs units.

Upon seeing bio-growth (mold) in your aged system and rust on your heat exchanger, our serviceman did in fact suggest that you clean the duct system, blower motor and furnace cabinet. It is very important that you receive this work soon to further prevent the growth of mold, which we all know is dangerous, within your home. I ordered online and received a call instantly confirming my order, the person on the phone was very pleasant to speak with. I had just bought my home and was not sure what kind of condition the HVAC was in, which is why I contacted 72 degrees. The technician was smart, professional, and honest. My HVAC was in great condition despite its age, he informed me that the previous owners had obviously taken great care of it. We discussed maintenance I should take to keep it running well, and options for the the line if I want to replace it with a more modern system.

In home sales person was OKInstallers on time, worked quickly. When one unexpected obstacle occurred they handled it well. Had delays with Certificate of Compliance from City of Cary vs 72 degrees. Issue had to do with carbon monoxide alarms - not really sure why it was an issue I don't think anyone was at fault. A 72 degree guarantee got our attention: utility savings of a minimum of 30% reduction in heat/cool costs. We concluded these guys are sure this HVAC is a good one and that they'll install it properly. Looking forward to seeing reduced electric bills. As of 8/13/12 we are pursuing this guarantee with 72 degrees since the 30% reduction hasn't panned out for us yet. We are hopeful that perhaps the HVAC needs to be tweaked to get that level of efficiency. Update 8/28/2012: As promised a representative of 72 degrees arrived and did a thorough job of checking the system. He adjusted some settings and took additional measurements of the size of the return box. We are very pleased with the response and are hopeful we are on our way to the savings we had hoped for by buying the new HVAC system from 72 degrees. 9/27/2012: As promised 72 degrees made adjustments including changing the size of air return in order to guarantee us the savings in utility costs. We are very pleased with how this was handled.

After an initial service earlier in the year, decided to secure a maintenance contract with them. Haven't been using very long, but so far they have been great about scheduling flexibility, and show up on time within the window they provided. I didn't have to call to see when they were coming, they contacted me to remind me it was time for maintenance. The technician has been very friendly, did not rush through the maintennce job, and has provided a detailed list of additional maintenance issues that I should consider for the unit going forward.
