72 degree's was here on time and professional. He worked on both of our units for around 1 1/2 hours, gave a great diagnosis of the health of our system, and found a few small problems that he was able to fix while doing the inspection. I was very pleased with his knowledge and thoroughness. We'll definitely be using them again!

Kyle arrived on time and was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. He took the time to patiently answer several questions I had about the AC units that he was checking. He was careful to use shoe covers when he came into the house to prevent bringing dirt into my home. He explained what he was going to do and what to expect during the visit. A nice feature from the company was sending me an email with Kyle's picture so I knew who it was that was coming.

The technician arrived on-time and was courteous. After his inspection, he held a Carbon Monoxide (CO) meter directly above one of the vents. The meter started counting up and peaked at about 14ppm. The technician warned me of the danger of Carbon Monoxide and was more than happy to put me in touch with one of the members of his sales staff. He indicated on my inspection form that the system was unsafe to operate. I had a second company come out and inspect the system. They examined the heat exchanger and exhaust system thoroughly and found no faults. After the visit from 72Deg, I purchased a Kidde Nighthawk CO detector with a digital display & mounted it near the same vent the 72Deg technician tested. I also purchased a Quantum Eye CO detector, and mounted it directly over the vent in the vent's airflow. The Quantum Eye is typically used in piston powered aircraft and uses a chemically coated "biomimetic" sensor element that changes color in the presence of CO. Over the past year, neither of these detectors indicated hazardous levels of CO. The Nighthawk detector has remained at zero, and the Quantum Eye has never changed color. CO is naturally present in the environment, it is certain concentrations of CO that is hazardous, just as high concentrations of CO2, Carbon Dioxide (which we exhale) can be dangerous. I will not offer a reason why the technician felt that my system was producing levels of CO that would be concerning. I will leave it to the reader to draw their own conclusions.

Hello (Member name removed): It's no wonder that the house you bought, and now enjoy, sat on the market for a very long time due to "dirty sock syndrome" odors permeating the property. This is an easy problem to diagnose, though can be difficult to fix. I'm so happy we were able to repair your systems, and look forward to doing business with you again in the future. Thank You! As good as it could. Tim did a good job finding the problem. He was very prompt & professional. Frustrating that this part was just replaced a month ago & now has to be again because we will be without heat until part arrives. However, this company has taken good care of our home for years. Would recommend them.
Description of Work: Heat stopped working. Tech was out same day. Could not fix the problem that day-requires a part be ordered. Will come back as soon as part is in. Issue is under warranty-was a part they just replaced a month ago.

We have a home warranty company, AHS. When our heat went out on a weekend night, they were unable to locate a contractor to fix the problem, so they authorized me to locate one. I was fortunate to be able to get hold of 72 Degrees. They sent someone within hours of my call, he diagnosed the problem, contacted AHS for approval of the repair, and then made the repair. I had heat again in a few minutes - it was a blown fuse in the air handler. The technician they sent was a local man named Kenna. A few weeks later, the same thing happened; no heat on a weekend. I contacted 72 Degrees and soon they sent out a tech. This time the problem was the fan on the heat pump. This would be a several hundred dollar problem. The technician, Curtis, contacted the manufacturer and found that it was still under warranty. He was able to replace the fan and charged only for the labor. Both Kenna and Curtis were very helpful in working with the home warranty company and explaining to them what was going on so that AHS would approve and pay for the work. I would definitely recommend 72 Degrees for any heating or AC issues.

Overall I believe this company does good work and has treated me fairly in the past. I've had a HVAC contract with them for two years now. It's not cheap but insures our HVAC systems are working properly before the summer heat and cold winter hit. Overall I'm satisfied with their service. However, on the last visit I feel a little taken advantage of or nickel and dimed for what amounts to a simple adjustment. I'm going to shop around for other highly rated vendors before renewing another contract with 72 Degrees. To their credit, they do respond promptly to appointments and problems.
Description of Work: This service was for a contractual semi-annual HVAC check. This particular visit was for the winter heating system check. There will be another A/C check in the spring. I have two systems on my house and bother were checked. Two technicians ended up coming to get the job done quicker, which was great. They found a couple issues; one being the gas pressure regulator being set too high. They adjusted the regulator back down to where it should be (or so I was told). However, they charged me $59 to adjust two regulators. This adjustment is basically as complicated as turning a screw driver to adjust the diaphragm. This took less than 20 seconds to do. In my opinion these type of simple adjustments should be part of the HVAC check. If parts are replaced or more extensive troubleshooting is needed, requiring more labor and time, I understand there should be a charge for that. But for a simple regulator adjustment....seems like pinching the customer to me.

On a scheduled maintenance visit in July 12' they told us we needed a device to help our unit power up. The idiot tech didn't realize it wasn't compatible with our unit, so the whole system shut down the day we went on vacation and our house sat in 100 degree heat for 3 weeks. When we returned to our 100 degree house, they removed the device and everything was fine. For an encore, they returned in January after we had rented out the house. He found a lot of dirt and some "growth" on the fan. Despite not being a mold expert, the tech then told our renters that it could be mold and they freaked out. Instead of being a professional vendor and calling us so we could take action to fix the problem, he completely panicked the tenants who immediately asked to leave. Keep in mind, this company has been servicing the house for over a year, they obviously never cleaned the fan before or it would'nt have been as bad as it was. We decided to immediately replace the unit. They quoted us $6,500. We used a company that gave us the same unit for $4,800. When I called to speak to a manager, he called me a "slum lord" because I wanted to told of what he found before he ran his mouth to the tenants when he himself said he wasn't an expert (not to mention, hadn't been cleaning the system like I was paying them to do) Simply put, 72 degrees is the most unprofessional and rude company I have ever dealt with. I would strongly urge any company who's using them to think twice and any homeowner using them to find a business that will treat them with respect instead of the attrocious and vicious way I was treated.

Dear Valued Client, Thank you for leaving us feedback. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction in all we do and in a rare instance it seems we missed that goal. Although we have tried unsuccessfully to do whatever it took to ‘make it right’ your F rating lets us know that despite our best efforts we fell short of your expectation. We treat every home we walk into as we would if it were our home so the landlord and tenant relationship is a delicate one for us. I hope you would agree that the person living in the home needs to know of potentially harmful air quality - especially when they mentioned they were having trouble with allergies. Records show that you have a 15 year old Trane system and while we've been there servicing your unit in the past we did not identify issues with the air handler as there were none to find. Here's a more specific timeline for those reading this: We did a summer service on your system on July 2, 2012. Records show that you called back on July 3, 2012 with no cooling. We responded the same day and found a broken fuse holder in your disconnect panel outside. The system was operating after this repair was made. On July 24, 2012, you called again with no cooling and we responded same day and found the start assist that we installed was cutting start up amps too low to start the compressor. On older systems they may need more amps to start. The start assist installed on the system was not installed to hurt or cause an issue for you, but to improve operations and reduce power consumption. We removed the start assist and the system operated properly but was again pulling very high start up amps. On January 18, 2013, we returned for the winter service. You no longer lived in the home and it was now a rental property. When we arrived, the tenants asked the technician if he would check the condition of the duct work and inside air handler. They relayed to the technician that they had been having issues with allergies and wanted to know if it was coming from the air handler. As the technician was doing his service, he did find that the air handler needed to be cleaned and the blower wheel needed to be pulled and cleaned. He reported his findings to the tenants, not realizing that they were not the homeowners. The technician, upon learning this information, got your phone number and called you to inform you of what he had found and to give you options to resolve this issue. At that time, you told the technician not to tell the tenants what he had found and not to do anything to clean the system up. When the technician informed you that he had shared this information with the tenants already, you became very angry at the technician for informing the tenants of the issue he found. Our Service Manager had a subsequent conversation with you after this call and you wanted him to fire our technician and refund your money or you would write a bad review on Angie’s List. We value and cherish our clients and our relationship with them. Despite the concern you had with our technician you did see the value in having your 15 year old system replaced by us and received a comprehensive replacement quote. Because we have an apples to apples price match guarantee we would have gladly matched the price you were given had we been afforded the opportunity. All we would have require is a breakdown of the installation quote such as we provided you. In addition to that as a valued service club member at the time you would have realized even greater savings after the price match. We would still love the opportunity to make this right by you however based on the tone and harshness of your review we’re not sure that would be a desirable outcome for you. If anyone reading this would like to question us or get more details please feel free to do so. Ask for the owner of the company - Eddie Blanchard - when you call and reference this review. We have a Mystery Shopper program sign up on our website – we mystery shop our technicians for a reason and we would love the opportunity to show you why. Sincerely, Eddie Blanchard - Proud Owner and Operator.

72 Degrees Heating and Air Conditioning were very good. They fixed what I needed and there was a small problem which they came back and fixed without any additional charge. I liked them well enough that I bought their monthly maintenance package but again the big deal has given them a huge amount of business and it has been hard to reschedule for it. I expected that when I purchased that, they would call me early in the fall of this year for the winter review and they didn't call for quite some time even though I reminded them and although now, a couple of weeks ago, they called to reschedule it, it just doesn't seem convenient right now. The initial service of the big deal was good.

Everyone I interacted with was very professional and responsive. They were trying very hard to make sure I was satisfied and got exactly what I asked for. From the initial design/specs meeting to actual installation and follow-up service, everyone was prompt and responsive. While the actual install left the system still not working correctly, they were very prompt with fixing it, and even offered to come out during extremely bad weather when all their technicians had been pulled off the roads (though I declined that offer). Once the technician arrived, he found the problem, and the system has been working flawlessly since.

Dear customer: It looks like we performed a tune up and inspection of your solar panels last fall, but you felt the service was too short. I'd love to talk to you about the "up sell" suggestions our technician made when arriving at your home. When we suggest to a customer that they repair or purchase a part, it is warranted by findings during our detailed inspection. Sometimes the inspection is short if a problem is obvious. At any rate, it is our goal to ensure all customers are 100% satisfied with each service performed. Please feel free to give us a call and ask for me personally if you wish to talk further about this. We would be happy to send another technician out to your house for a second opinion at no charge. Thank you for your business! In Comfort, Eddie Blanchard Owner & GM of 72 Degrees

I selected 72 Degrees to install a new HVAC gas pack (A/C and gas heater in one unit) at my newly purchased rental property based on their reviews and the competitive price I was quoted. I also purchased a 10 year parts and labor warranty from them at an additional cost. They completed the job very quickly but waited 3-4 weeks to schedule the final inspection. I was under the impression this happened shortly after the installation. Because I had renters in the property, it took almost a year to finally get the final inspection completed. They added a damper during the initial installation to direct more air flow upstairs in the summer to help cool the upstairs bedrooms. The issue is that they did a very poor job of installing this damper, hoping I wouldn't go into the crawl space to inspect their work. Because of the weight of the damper, it was actually resting on the ground, putting stress on the air ducts. I had them come back out to do the job the right way and show me how to use the damper. I was thoroughly impressed with the crew they sent out to perform a service on the old unit, but I was not happy with the work of the installation team. After nine months, the unit is working well. There is still an issue with getting enough cool air upstairs in the summer to cool the bedrooms. They guaranteed that they could get the temperature upstairs to a certain temperature in the summer, but the temperature consistently exceeded that temperature. I was told that it was due to inadequate sizing of the air vents going upstairs, which is probably true, but they should have explained that risk to me before making the installation. Everyone I have spoken to and worked with at their office has been very professional. I would use them again but would be there to observe the installation.

Hello Customer! Thank you for taking time to post about your experience on Angie's List. It's great to hear you found everyone in out office and our service technicians to be very professional, and we're glad the damper issue encountered after your installation was fixed. I'm sorry to hear the issue was a problem to begin with, but new installs do occasionally require a tune-up to ensure everything is working properly. As always, it is our mission to ensure each customer is 100% satisfied, so we will be happy to come and take another look at your return vents upstairs free of charge if the room you mentioned isn't cooling enough this summer. Feel free to give us a call anytime to schedule this visit! Thank You, Eddie Blanchard Owner & GM of 72 Degrees
