He charged $175 for the capacitor. I found out the next day that I could have bought that same unit for $20. So, they performed the service admirably but soaked us on the capacitor charge. I'd use them again though be a little more savvy about the extra charges.
Description of Work: A/C had stopped cooling. The serviceman diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor unit. He replaced it and cleaned the system.

Curtis arrived on time and was very polite. He first talked about becoming part of their club of clients, which entailed a monthly deduction from checking and it would cover the maintenance of the AC system in the spring and heating system in the fall. In addition, persons on this list would be serviced first in emergencies. Whenever he was inside my house he wore covers on his shoes to show they were concerned about not tracking dirt, etc. into my house. The initial inspection took over two hours! I was surprised and pleased at their thoroughness. He explained what he did and left no trash or old parts. I signed up to be a client so in the spring and fall I receive reminder phone calls to schedule the maintenance visits. Each time the workman takes about an hour on each system. In the most recent visit the serviceman talked to me about the appropriate air filter to use to do the most efficient job. They are always polite, friendly, and don't talk down to me. I am thoroughly pleased with this company.

The person arrived on-time, and explained what they were going to do. They spent quite a lot of time trying to get my unit to show signs of imminent failure, and finally got the results that they wanted. They warned that the unit was about to fail due to some part being "weak" according to their multimeter readings. I didn't take him up on the repairs. It's been 2 years, and nothing has failed -- contrary to the technician's warnings.

The unit stopped producing cold air over the weaken. I called Monday morning, and after working with my schedule a bit (I had several meetings I couldn't move) they scheduled me for Tuesday afternoon. They called a couple of hours before the technician was scheduled to arrive to let me know that if it was convenient, he could actually come by earlier. He did a great job, replaced a couple of parts and cleaned the unit. I've used them for several years and would recommend them highly.

Initially called because I haven't had any service done on my HVAC service on my 5 year old home. I joined Angie's List specifically to find someone as I've received a few coupons recently about discount services. I decided to take advantage of 72 degrees due to their high rating on Angie's List. I also was interested in finding out about getting my ducts cleaned. When I called to get information, I spoke with the owner who essentially said that duct cleaning in many cases is not necessary and only damages the ducts. I was surprised that a business owner would recommend not performing a service that they provide. So I scheduled an appointment to have my HVAC system looked at. Dan Gregory was the technician and very friendly and informative. He also said the same about cleaning ducts not being worth it and the damage cleaning can do to certain types of ducts. He went to work on examining and cleaning my system and thoroughly explained what he was doing and what his recommendations were regarding the state of my system. There was no sales pressure, he was just presenting my options. I ended up taking his recommendations and also signed up for their service package. Overall, I was very happy with the service I received and feel better knowing that I have 72 Degrees available if I have any HVAC issues.

As always, I am very pleased with the service of this company. They are prompt, polite and very careful with your property. I was particularly pleased with Tim who serviced my equipment today. I would like to have him return in the Fall to complete my winter service call.
Description of Work: Semi annual inspection - I pay a fee each month for this service. If they do not find any problems it is part of my monthly service fee.

The 72 Degrees Heating and Air Conditioning service person did a very thorough inspection of the unit. Very professional, friendly was provided. It was discovered that the blower was defective, and they replaced it. I had to call a week after the blower repair for a second repair due to a bad thermocouple, which was not diagnosed during the tuneup. We were very pleased that the manager gave us a discount on the extra service visit to replace the thermocouple.

I have been using 72 Degrees for approximately a year. They are wonderful!. The office staff and field technicians are very helpful, courteous, attentive and professional. From the moment you call to schedule your appointment to when the technician drives away, you are treated with respect and they value you as a customer. All the technicians have been prompt, diligent with their job, neat, and respectful of my home and time!! Scott F goes above and beyond. He is A+ in my book. Another nice feature is that their company emails you after your service and asks for feedback and sends you a receipt for your records. I really appreciate the "specials" they provide to Angie's List members. They really provide a good service for the money. You can't beat them. This company is "First Class" and I would call them immediately if I were having problems with my A/C / Furnace. I will call them for estimates when time to replace the unit. It's nice to have a company who you can trust and who wants my business.

The service went extremely well. The service tech checked all parts of the heating and air conditioning system and showed me readings on equipment that showed that it was operating properly. He also used a camera to look inside air ducts to show if there were any signs of smoke damage or suet within the ducts. He took his time and provided a thorough check up of both systems with understandable details on the overall performance of the systems.
Description of Work: The heating and cooling system at a rental property located at 3626 Crystal Court was serviced on March 21, 2013. The service tech was on time, very professional, thorough and explained in detail each part of the service. The tech also advised me on next steps and actions to take related to a problem in the town home related to smoke and suet damage. He called me back after the appointment to share additional information regarding a possible source of the problem. I have also called him to update him on the condition of filters.

I'm writing the review 2 years later after realizing how badly I was overcharged for the Amana 80% efficiency furnarnce and 13 SEER heat pump.
Description of Work: Install new 2.5 ton heat pump and gas forced air furnace for our upstairs which died at the start of summer. They sealed the vents, adjusted the flow in each of the rooms to provide a consistent temperature. The installation/service was excellent .

I am glad to read your comments that the installation of your new heating and cooling system was excellent. However, I am not sure I understand that our prices were grossly overpriced. We have been in the heating and cooling business for more than 14 years and more than half of the clients we work for have gotten other prices from other contractors. It is my thought that if we were grossly overpriced, they would not choose to use us and they did. We have however had experiences where a client was not looking at an “apples to apples” comparison and after seeing the difference it became clear. After pulling your fill I found that we installed an Amana 2 ½-Ton Duel Fuel system that included a duct sealing, duct cleaning, thermostat replacement, a complete 10 year part and labor warranty and a 1st year maintenance agreement. You also mentioned that Amana was the builder grade system of Goodman. Actually, Goodman is the builder grade system and Amana is their premium line. You can confirm this by contacting any distributor that handles both lines of equipment. When you have a moment I would love an opportunity to speak with you.

Kyle arrived a few minutes early and got right to work. He checked our thermostat, then examined the air return filter and found that the material in the filter was so dense that it was causing the filter to "balloon" inward when the fan motor was running. This was putting a serious strain on the fan motor and he recommended using a more porous filter. (This was the first time that any other technician had ever recommended this, and was probably the reason that the original motor burned out after only 4 years! Thanks, Kyle!) He had to spend quite a bit of time checking the system and did a fantastic job. In 15 years of using other companies we have never had anyone do as thorough a job as Kyle did. Although nothing was really wrong, some things were just "not quite right", so he made sure that they were tuned to perfection. After seeing how 72 Degrees works, and learning of the many features and advantages of their yearly contracts, we will definitely be signing up for their future services.

Description of Work: heat pump cleaning and tune up by 72 Degrees. I had never heard of this company until I received an offer from AAA for this service and thought it a good idea to have peace of mind for the summer days ahead. The cost of this was $79.00. I got a prompt appointment for 05-06-2013. The technician arrived on time. He was courteous and professional and knowledgeable. He also looked under my house and noticed that the air handler was supported by 2 by 4's and that this wood was rotting. I asked what could be done, and he said the air handler could be properly re-hung with the correct supporting materials. After seeing the rotten wood, I realized it needed to be done ASAP. My technician Tom, called me after leaving and said he could return the next day to re-hang the air handler. The cost was $302.00.

When attempting to schedule, pricing was very inconsistent. Special coupons, otherwise high prices. Not upfront pricing. Unable to give a price for leak detection unless I paid $80 diagnostic fee even though they have a coupon on Angies list for $20 diag and leak detection. Originally wanted to charge $80 even to estimate replacement.

Last year we had posted a $20 diagnostic and refrigerant leak search however the customer service representative was not aware that it was still listed on Angies List. It was my understanding after listening to the ohone call that you were also looking for her to give you our price for each pound of refrigerant. As a company we feel that giving prices over the phone would probably lead you to a wrong conclusion. It would not be fair nor in your best interest to give some lowball price over the phone just to get in the door and then increase it once we are there. For that reason we know that when we dispatch a technician to your home we must get your autorization to do any additional work beyond the diagnosis. They aren't an authorized repair person for my system so they recommended us go to large dealer which helped us out with that. They didn't try to push something we didn't need. They told me I probably have a warranty on the system so I don't need to pay out of pocket for it.

It was a great experiance. This is our fouth year with 72 Degress Heating and Conditioning. Dan Gregory was our technician. We called on Tuesday and he was here on Wednesday. They are always on time and so professional. We are new to southern living and Dan (who has serviced our HVAC twice now) has helped educate us to our system. Scott from 72 degrees arrived on time to my house. He immediately got to work and dismantled my package unit. He thoroughly cleaned and did light maintenance on the unit. He discovered that some insulation had fallen down and blocked part of the heat exchanger. His repairs were thorough and permanent. Instead of taping up the insulation (which would fall again very quickly) he used metal strips to secure the insulation permanently. My system is running much more efficiently now and I am extremely pleased with the service. 72 degrees has never disappointed with their service and I highly recommend them.

Updated....we had some initial issues with a lack of communication that resulted in differences between what the estimator promised and what was feasible for the house, resulting in the HVAC system not performing quite as well as we had hoped. When the company learned of this, Tom (an install manager) responded extremely quickly and came out to see what could be done to get the system working as well as possible. He was able to make some minor adjustments that made an immediate difference, but was also very open to making further adjustments necessary. I've updated the rating to reflect their prompt response, professional attitude and the fact that we'll now continue to use them for service.
Description of Work: Replace furnace, air conditioner, most ductwork and vents.

Awesome from beginning to end. My a/c would not run when I turned it on for the first time yesterday. Nothing. Zip. Nada. I called 72 Degrees and my call was answered immediately by Sharon who was very pleasant, knowledgeable and courteous. She arranged a service appointment for me today between 2-4 pm. I received an email and a text message saying that my technician, Kyle Berger was on his way during the scheduled time. Kyle Berger, who is now "my" technician, because I will ask for him by name, was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and just plain wonderful. He is a great representative of his company. I will definitely use them again and will ask for Kyle by name. Great experience!
Description of Work: Kyle Berger, my technician figured out the problem quickly and it was fixed in no time. I am having him come back to give my air conditioning unit a precision tune-up and will ask for him by name.
