When I asked them to make good on their "Meineke Guarantee of Customer Satisfaction" and repair or replace the front differential, I was told to "Take my keys, get the H-LL out of thier store and don't come back!"
Description of Work: The first time I took my vehicle in they replaced $1500.00 worth of parts on my 1996 Ford Explorer. This included both upper control arms (driver & pass side), lower ball joints on both side, upper ball joints on both sides, a cv axle on the front driver side, four new shocks, an alignment and an oil change. After all of this I was told that my problem was coming from the torque converter/bell housing area. When I took it to the tranmission shop they showed me that it was actually the rear seal on the transfer case (which is no where near the bell housing). One year later, when I took it back because I had a very bad shaking that was coming from the front end, they told me that they needed to replace one of the upper control arms they had installed the first time I was in, both tie rod ends, the bearing-hub assembly on the driver's side (which I had replaced with a new one two days before I took it to them the first time), and I would need an alignment. For this I was charged another $463.00 They also told me that I would have to have the front tires replaced because the wires were showing. After having this work done, I took it and had the front tires replaced (which were only two years old) and was told by Goodyear that they would not warranty the front tires because it was obvious to them that an alignment had never been performed. One month later I was back at Meineke of Tupelo, MS because the front end was still shaking violently and now had a scraping sound coming from the front driver's side. When it was inspected, it was determined that they would have to replace the other upper control arm (the other one they replaced the first time I came to them), the driver's side front cv axle (which was shredded to bits and had been replaced by them the first time I came in) and I would need $178.00 worth of alignment work (which my bill shows had been performed on my vehicle the first two times I came in). Now I discover that when they put the cv axle in the first time, they damaged the seal around the front differential which caused all the fluid to run out and ruin the front differential case.

Response from MEINEKE CAR CARE CENTER
(Member)brought a 1996 Ford Explorer with over 250,000 miles to our shop on November 4th 2009. We recommended everything that we could see that needed to be replaced and (Member) accepted. February 4th 2011 (15 months later) (Member) came in with some concerns about his ride and handling of the vehicle. Keep in mind none of the parts were under warranty after 15 months, but we replaced his upper control arm under warranty at no charge, including a free toe alignment, and recommended some other parts that we saw needed replacement. (Member) agreed to the extra repairs. Also note that at this visit his CV axle did not have any problems or leaks. On March 3rd, 2011 (16 months later) (Member) came back into the shop with a shredded CV AXLE. The CV axle had been 6 months out of warranty by this time but we replaced it at NO CHARGE knowing we would not get the manufacturer to cover it for us. The CV Axle had to have had a problem after the February 4th visit or it would have been seen at that time. Also, (Member) does not have his oil changed at a Meineke location and from November 4th 2009 until March 3rd 2011, according to (Member), he was not informed of any leak or CV axle problems from those oil change facilities. I called (Member) today and have come to the conclusion that he does not want to work with us to resolve his problems. We have repaired and replaced parts under warranty that were not under warranty. We have been short and rude with (Member) because (Member) demands unreasonable requests. He told me today that if I would pay him what he is asking for, he would quit saying all these bad things about us. That’s when we decided to not try and help (Member) anymore with his problems. We have been Platinum Certified in customer satisfaction many years in a row. You cannot achieve those standards by treating people as (Member) recommends that we do. Meineke #1632

Okay, what happened was I go in to Meineke. On 6-27-08, I went trying to get help with my 2002 Buick Park Avenue. It was hesitating a little, so I thought that it was in need of a tune-up. The store manager, Justin, was very happy to oblige. When they where done with my car it was running twice as bad, if not worse, than before. He then told me I had a air flow sensor out and the number 6 fuel injector was clogged. He told me to " dump a butt load of "Tekron" in the gas tank and take the sensor off and spray it with computer cleaner and to pray that works. Then he told me that the car was actually running better than it was when I had brought it in. Then told me there was nothing else he could do for me. I then drove it right across the street to the post office. The car was so bad I was afraid to drive it. I drove it right back to Meineke and pleaded with him to look at it again. He just told me sorry there was nothing else he could do for me. I barely made it home with my car. I took it to another service center the next morning at 7:30am. They replaced the partly "clogged" fuel injector. It didn't fix anything. The car was still running horribly. The technician, at the other place, ran a diagnostics on the car which kept coming up "engine misfire". He then realized that two of the plug wires on the back of the engine were crossed at the coil pack. As soon as he switched out the wires the car started to run perfectly. I then went back to Meineke. The manager, Justin, called me a liar when I told him what had happened. He didn't come out and say the word liar, but telling someone that you don't believe that is what happened and it isn't true, when I told him what I had seen with my own eyes, is calling me a liar. I am very upset and I can't believe for what I was charged that someone would treat a person that way. For all the trouble I had to go through and stress for someone lying to me about what was wrong with my car, maybe because they didn't know how to figure it out, but definitely because they didn't want to further investigate the problem that he had caused. The owner was not willing to do anything but give me a credit voucher for the labor only. After my very first encounter with Meineke was like that, why would I want to go back? The people at the other place said that there is no way the the fuel injector would caused it to run like it was and the sensor wasn't bad. It took the guy at the other place 30 minutes to find the problem but why wouldn't Meineke's people at least try? I feel I have been totally ripped off not only for the outrageous prices of the parts but the fact that the job was not done correctly. When I went back, Justin, the store manager, blurted out that I had had a broken plug wire on the car when I brought it in, what would that have to do with the wires being crossed?
Description of Work: A tune-up.
