Called another popular company first and they didn't sound as if they wanted business. All I needed was to make sure all the nest of some birds were removed from my bathroom's exhaust fan pipe (I used "duct" or "vent" wrong and the other company didn't try to figure out what I meant). The person answering the phone got the gist of what I meant and a date was scheduled. Everything went as above. I rated low on price because I didn't think for the amount of time he was there that I should have been charged a $72 "diagnostic fee". The $24 "correction task"; which is what he did, was fine. Even with both fees, I would have figured since he didn't do that much, nor was he there very long, that a discount would have been applied. (Would have been fine if total was $72) I gave a "B" on professionalism because as he removed the nesting, some landed on the floor and some he placed on my patio roofing ....and left it there.

I have a handicap child and air condition is a must. they have always responded very quickly.

The team arrived on the morning scheduled (6 men) and by 4:30 the system was up and running. No problems.

They were here for at least a half of day working and they were great. They did a fantastic job and they were very nice and courteous. When they installed the system they took the time to show me how it worked and made efforts to put down drop cloths so that they wouldn't mess up the floors. If they did make a mess they cleaned up behind themselves so extremely well that you wouldn't even know that they were there, so I was highly impressed with them and would definitely recommend them to somebody else. I definitely don't think they were the most expensive, but they probably weren't the cheapest. I was pleased with the price and pleased with the system that I was able to get. They were there within 30 minutes of when they said that they would be and that's pretty good in my book.

My AC/heating system was old but still functioning when I began calling around to get estimates for replacement. I was at an advantage in negotiations, because my system wasn't broken and I didn't have to make a decision immediately. I'm sure that people whose AC is kaput in the middle of the summer often make rushed decisions that they may later regret. In this case, time was on my side. I got 3 quotes which ranged from $4800 to $10,000+ for comparable products (13 and 14 SEER units). I was interested in an extended warranty - 5 years labor, 10 years parts, 20 years on the furnace. The parts and labor warranties varied with each company, and in one case, the customer was required to register the products after installation and also purchase additional warranties. Another company wanted to charge $200 to remove the old unit from my attic. Another company pressured me to make my decision NOW, because their special offers were good only for that day. I do not respond well to those types of sales tactics. Whenever I told the salesman I wasn't prepared to make an immediate decision, he would go back to his laptop and come up with a new set of quotes, all lower than the previous ones. I was like, why don't you just give me the best price possible and let's stop this ridiculous back and forth? He wasted 3.5 hours of my time and his time. I wanted a one-stop shop that could do it all -- install equipment and provide warranties, and NOT charge me to remove the equipment. I wasn't 100% happy with any of the companies i got quotes from, so I joined Angie's List for the first time -- and that's how I found Modern Air Conditioning. I'd never heard of them and was surprised to learn that they've been in business in Jackson since 1969. When I called Michael Hemphill at Modern and told him exactly what i was looking for, within minutes he came up with a quote for a 3-ton system that included an extended warranty. A couple hours later he and a co-worker came to my house to check out my system. Shortly after that, he emailed me a revised quote based on the site visit, which was actually lower than the quote he gave over the phone, and we set an installation date within the week. (All other quotes included a new "line set," which is a $400+ item. Modern said mine appeared to be fine.) The price was so good that I was able to get a 14 SEER, as opposed to 13 SEER. They also were the only company to suggest that the intake in the house be widened from 14" x 25" to 20" x 25" to improve the unit's performance. This was done with very little impact to the overall price. Three employees arrived punctually on the morning of install and worked steadily throughout the day until around 3 p.m. One of the techs explained how to operate the new thermostat and showed me how everything was configured in the attic. They cleaned up well before they left. The next day, Michael emailed me product and warranty registration documents and followed up to ensure that I was satisfied with the installation. He let me know that I was required to schedule annual check-ups of the units in order for the warranties to remain valid. Modern simplified my decision and made the entire process easy and very affordable. It is too early to comment on the quality of the equipment, but so far, it's cooling my house very well.

We contacted modern air about a month before the actual installation date. They met initially with my wife and were very helpful in explaining the different options available to us as far as replacements went. They even said it was not necessary for us to replace the furnace, which was comforting in assuring us that they were not trying to sell us stuff we really didn't need. We did however want the entire system replaced due to the fact that it was better for us in the long run and also the system we liked required features not available in our current system. The installation day went very smoothly and only took about half the day. We were told many times if we had any questions or concerns to contact them anytime.

They're very good. They're prompt and professional and reasonably priced.

The air conditioning no longer blew cool. It was the middle of summer and I was sure it would take forever to get fixed. I called and they apologized that they would not be able to come until the next morning. They called to let me know when the man was coming. The technician found the problem very quickly and fixed it in about an hour. He even handled the various wildlife he had to deal with (the dead mouse and snake) that were occupying my outside unit. The only concern I had was that the man could only give me an estimate of what it would cost and that the bill would be sent in the mail. I was pleasantly surprised that the bill was very close to what I was told. I made my payment and have had no problems since

Overall, we had a great experience with Modern Air. They responded quickly to our request for an estimate in the spring of 2011 and were very professional in doing so. Modern Air was one of several companies that we asked to provide an estimate for us at that time. At the time of the original estimate, we opted to wait to have the unit replaced. When we called back in late October of 2011, again the staff responded quickly with an update of the estimate. There was no appreciable difference between the two estimates. The company presented estimates for several different units. We never felt pressured to make a choice for a bigger or more expensive unit. It was less than four days from the day we called to finally schedule the installation to the date of the installation. The installation was completed in one day with a minimum of fuss and inconvenience to our family. When it comes time to replace the other unit in our home, we will absolutely use Modern Air again.

I got a recommendation from a commercial account that used them for their construction. Checked Angies list and there were no negatives. Michael came out and we talked, came up with options, and agreed on start date. The team came out on Thursday morning and by 4:30 the job was completed. We are "happy campers"!

Very good. Robert was on time, as scheduled. Took care of the immediate problem and did not recommend any further action unless problem returns fast.

They are very prompt on their service. They are wonderful people that give great service.

After another company strongly suggested my unit needed to be replaced (at more than $12000 for complete unit), I called Modern (after hours) for a second opinion. They sent Robert out the next morning and he repaired the problem in about an hour. He did not think my system needed to be replaced at this time. Prior to leaving, he told me I should have the system serviced at least every other year. He was courteous and efficient.
