Your mortar color should change to a lighter shade as it cures. Sometimes in the colder weather it can take it a little longer. We couldn't hose off the wall too soon, it needs time to cure enough before it can be sprayed. We do have you on our list to clean, but we need a warmer day. Sorry for the dust in the corners of the driveway. We try to do a very thorough clean-up after ourselves. Not sure if it was missed, or too close to the area just worked on to clean any better at that time. We will be back as soon as the weather permits. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

I've owned my all-brick home, which was built around 1932, for about 30 years. In addition to the brick, it has stone "wings" attached to both sides of the front of the house. To my knowledge, rebuilding of the chimney (about 15 years ago) is the only previous masonry work performed on my home. My primary masonry concern was the appearance of the ground-level brick at the front of the house. The appearance of this brick definitely showed the neglect of its previous owners (including myself). Additional concerns included tuckpointing of the stone "wings" and general tuckpointing, on an "as-needed basis", around the rest of the house. A day after I called, Mr. Mirelli visited my home, discussed with me what needed to be done, and provided my with a description and estimate for the proposed work. I was especially impressed with the following: His promptness and profession manner. His assurance that his company could renew my ground-level brick to essentially "new appearance". (Another masonry company proposed replacing the entire outer layer of these bricks with new bricks, at a price that was at least $1000 more than Mr. Mirelli's estimate. Several weeks later, Mirelli Tuckpointing called to schedule my work to start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mirelli crew arrived as agreed upon, discussed with me the scope of the work that had been agreed upon, and started their work. The crew was extremely professional and hard-working. Prior to leaving, the crew chief and I reviewed what had been done to make sure that I was satisfied with the quality of their work. I was very impressed with their work and was amazed that the front brick looked "essentially new" again. Mr. Mirelli later called to make sure that I was satisfied with his services. During that call, he suggested that I water-proof the front brick after about 30 days--a suggestion I agreed to. I was extremely impressed with the services of Mirelli Tuckpointing, would use their services again, and would recommend them to my friends.
Description of Work: Tuckpointing of my entire brick home, with special attention to the ground-level brick and stone "wings" at the front of the structure.

It went well. We called and Mr. Mirelli promptly came out and did an estimate. We did not have an exact start date. Mr Mirelli told us he'd call before they came out. Within to weeks the company called us and work began the next morning. Workers were polite. They appeared to work hard and finished the entire wall in one day. Workers cleaned up after themselves and several days later someone from Mirelli came out to look at the job and wet the wall down.
Description of Work: Ground out and spot tuckpointed (whereever mortar was loose or missing) the entire west wall of our small one story home.

We were able to get an estimate quickly and the cost was more than some, less than others. I felt like the owner (John) understood the work that we needed to have done. Anytime we called with questions, there was a quick response. After we agreed to have the job done, the team came sooner than the 2 - 3 weeks we thought it would take. They arrived on time, were respectful and hard working. The job was well done. The only area that didn't meet expectations was the color of mortar used on areas of the house where the sun had lightened the previously dark mortar. After walking around with many estimators and discussing these areas, the thinking was to tuckpoint with buff colored mortar. Buff was used, but it stood out and looked bad. We contacted John who was more than willing to come out and redo those areas in a charcoal, which looks great. Again, the guys showed on time and did a great job. My only "complaint," and I did discuss this with the owner, who I did feel was receptive, was that it would be nice if the men who came to do the job were a little more assertive with what they thought was the right color to use. I felt like they were concerned about making us happy (which is great), however, we aren't tuckpointers, so may not really know what will make us happy. The use of Buff wasn't anybody's "fault" but I feel like a re-do could have possibly been avoided if there was a little more communication on both of our sides. Anyway, it all worked out and we are very very happy with the result.
Description of Work: Grind out and replace areas of previous tuckpointing which did not match. Tuckpoint settlement cracks on house. Tuckpoint two chimneys. Tuckpoint areas on garage.

The origional plan for our company was to use charcoal color on the entire house, all one color. The member insisted that we use buff color on the faded areas, as another companies had suggested. The man on the job said one color would be best, but she requested that we do it this way. When she did not like the finished product, she called and said maybe she should have let us use one color as we suggested. We came back, and took out the buff and put in charcoal. This was done at our own expense. We are very glad that you are happy with the finished product. Your satisfaction is the most important thing. Thank you for taking time to comment. Sincerely, Mirelli Tuckpointing

The mortar color used on the border was matched to the original mortar color used on it. It is the dirt and weathering over the years that we cannot match right away. Give it a little time to get a little dirty and weathered and it will match great. Feel free to call us if you have any further concerns. Thanks, Cindy

John Morelli gave an assessment for the work on August 2. Within a week or two his office called to offer to come to do the work, but I had other work being done and so we arranged for him to come on the 25th. His workmen arrived early and got to work grinding and tuckpointing. One man took apart the large stone flower box/retaining wall and put it back together with fresh mortar. They worked all day, cleaned up and left at the end of the day. I checked on their work from time to time and a couple neighbors also checked out their work. We were all impressed with their thoroughness and the quality of the work. The initial estimated price was $3400 which I thought was quite reasonable for the work they did, but there was a 10% senior discount, so the total bill minus the discount was $3060. I would certainly use this company again for any tuckpointing needs and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs quality work done.
Description of Work: I needed spot tuckpointing done on a brick house. The chimney needed quite a bit of tuckpointing, and there were spots around the house that needed tuckpointing. Also, there is a stone flower box that had been damaged by a truck and was bulging in the middle and was separated from the house wall.

The company seemed professional, quickly returned my call and came out for a quote. We decided not to go with this company because they suggested just patching the cracked stones when we wanted to replace them. We had the cracks patched in the past and it was a waste of money because the cracks just came back.

We contacted Mirelli about some stone piillars on our front porch that were in bad need of repair. They came out within a couple days to give us a written bid. We called to follow up and discuss how they would do the work and agreed to hire them. They came out - as promised - within a couple weeks to do the work. The job took one day - again as promised. They did an excellent job of fixing cracks in the stone, rebuilding one of the pillars, leveling the tops of the pillars, and just doing a quality job. I would say they went above and beyond given the level of repair required. After previously contacting a number of masons and tuckpointers who failed to return our calls and/or show up to do the work, we were very pleased with Mirelli.

The color matching on the mortar was exactly on. The crew was courteous and professional, and seemed to take pride in their work. There was one minor problem where a lightning rod was mistakenly taken away with the construction debris, but Mr. Mirelli took care of this personally, finding the rod and re-mounting it. Unfortunately, the way it was re-mounted didn't work. A couple weeks after the work was done, our roofing contractor noticed that cracks were forming on the work that was done on the chimney. We sent an email with pictures to Mr. Mirelli, and we received no response, so we called the office, left a message, and a lady returned our call promptly. She agreed to send someone out to fix it. Someone came out the next day, and fixed the cracking. He also applied a chemical or sealant of some sort (which we didn't request), but unfortunately, the over-spray ended up ruining the finish on our new flashing and dormer cover that was just installed that day. I'm glad the chimney is sealed, but I wish they would have been more careful and considerate of our property, or would have at least let us know what they were doing and what to expect, so we could have had the chance to evaluate the situation.
Description of Work: We had a decorative chimney whose mortar had deteriorated, and whose decorated flues were crumbling and were allowing water to enter the house. Mr. Mirelli's crew ground out all the mortar, removed the old decorative flues, and chipped out all the bad cement on the cap on the top of the chimney. They then re-grouted the entire chimney, reconstructed the cap, and laid in (and plugged) two new flues. They then did a thorough job of cleaning up the work site.

I chose them due to all of the past positive responses. I was very impressed with total service from bid to completion of work. The price was very good compared to other bids that I received. I was told that the work would be a couple of weeks from my acceptance of the bid and that is what happened. The two man crew worked hard all day long and cleaned up completely before leaving. I highly recommend them and would use them again.

The lady who took my call was friendly and courteous, and they got someone out very quickly to check things out and draw up a bid. The price was right and so I signed off, and they gave me a general date a few weeks in advance to start the work, since obviously their schedule is weather dependent. A couple weeks before then, though, they called to say they had an unexpected opening, and I asked if the next day would be workable. That morning a crew of two showed up, and they got right to work removing the rusted out coal door. They bricked in the opening with cinder blocks, and then covered the outside with a skim coat to match the texture on the outside of my house. The work looks great and I am happy to have this leaky coal door gone!

In the end I just received a letter of what they would be doing at a price of $1,400. It seemed like they were just in a hurry. I never called them back.
Description of Work: They told me that they wouldn't be able to match the mortar. They said that they weren't able to match the bricks either. Also, they said they specialized in restoration and that was the only thing they did. I felt like in restoration you are supposed to match up the mortar or tell me about another solution.

I do not understand why, 10 months later, you would decide to write this report and give us a "D". We DO match mortar color, and we DO match bricks. If we gave you a proposal, then it was work that we were capable of doing. If not, we would not have issued a proposal. We have been satisfying our customers for over 20 years, and our reports reflect the quality of our work. We have received the Angie's list super service award from 2005-2010, and are receiving the 2011 Torch Award from the BBB. I'm sorry if there was a mis-communication. We wish we would have gotten the project and the chance to make you a satisfied customer also.

The crew came out early the day of the appointment. There were two gentlemen and they discussed the game plan. It took several hours and they reused my bricks. I was also told of problems with my gutter that my lead to problems later on and they game me some names of business that he recommended. I was very satisfied and relieved, I used the Angie's List coupon. and was able to pay with a credit card. The company mailed me a copy of their insurance before the appointment, giving me plenty of time to check it. I would recommend them to any one.
Description of Work: I live in a three story old brick home. I was starting to notice pieces of brick and mortar on the sidewalk in front of my house. When you look up at the gutters in the front of the house, you could easily see that the bricks were starting to give away. I was also starting to notice the noise of birds outside of my window all the time. I thought that I had a nest in the gutter but it was worst than that. Some sparrows made themselves a home in my loose brick. Once I realized that I panicked. I called several companies and Mirelli responded quickly. He agreed with me that I needed something quickly. They were able to do the job the following week. They were not the cheapest, nor the most expensive. But they responded the fastest.

When the old deck was removed from the back of the house prior to installation of a new deck, we discovered some serious damage to mortar on the brick house. It was imperative that I get at least some emergency repairs done the next day so the new deck construction could proceed. I called Mirelli Tuckpointing since they had done work for me a few years ago and did a great job. John MIrelli (owner) came out within a few hours of my call on Thursday 4/7/2011 and evaluated the project and gave a quote to tuckpoint the majority of the wall (everywhere where the mortar was weathered or damaged - some of the mortar was in good shape since it is under a roof). We called and accepted the quote and they agreed to send a crew on Friday, the very next day, so the tuckpointing would be complete before the deck building crew would start on Monday 4/11/2011. Mirelli's crew came out promptly on Friday morning and completed the job that same day. The work quality was top notch, the crew was friendly and they cleaned up after themselves. I really appreciate their willingness to fit our project into their schedule to accommodate the time restraints so our deck project could proceed without delay.
Description of Work: During complete deck renovation project, some damaged mortar was discovered under old deck material on the back of our brick house. Mirelli tuckpointed about 75% of the wall - all areas that needed work.

I think Mr. Mirelli himself came back out because I had problems. I am not 100% satisfied and I don't really blame him. When they replaced the porch they had to replace some brick. It was my opinion if they had put the new bricks they should have spaced it out so it would have looked like a pattern rather than sticking out like a sore thumb. I think they could have done it, but I shouldn't expect him to know that and it was already done. My husband still says they were fine. They put down a sealer on it and it turned all white, but he came out 2 or 3 times himself to correct it. I would use him again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Mirelli Tuckpointing LLC 2 or 3 months ago. They took my brick out and restructured it and put it back in and had to use some new brick along with it.

I are sorry the newer bricks stand out, as they weather they will begin to blend especially on the ground work on the porch. If they don't weather to your satisfaction, just give us a call, and we will remove some the good older bricks, and replace them with new bricks so it blends better if you would like. Thanks, John
