The estimated price was approximately $25000. I think they are very professional. Their explanation of the system was above average and the salesman’s knowledge of the system was above average but I felt that they were overpriced. I probably would not consider them again for a quote in the future because I think they should give their customers the best price upfront and not wait till their competitor gives the price.

They are great, and I trust them. They have a professional staff; if there is a problem, they will figure it out and will not just leave me hanging. They are comparable. I would rate them highly.

I was having problems with the dishwasher. The guy came in and spent a few minutes looking at it. He told me that it would be cheaper to just buy a new one. He charged $80 and left. He wasn't very specific about what the issue was. They were recommended by a plumbing company. He was right on time, and he was fairly professional.

I had a service package where they came out once a year. It seemed like every time a different person would come out and would try and sell us something for the heater or air conditioner. I just got tired of it. Ever since the owner Charlie retired, it has not been the same. I don’t know who is handling it now but I felt it was time for me to change. Their prices seemed a bit higher than the other company. I spent around $300. I had them change the filters every 6 months.
Description of Work: I used Chesterfield Service for heating and air conditioning service and maintenance. I used them from 1995 and this year I switched to another company. The last time I used them was in November of last year.

Very good service. They showed up on time and worked hard. At the end of the day the new furnace had a bad board, and they got one off of another and stayed very late at night to replace it. They have also followed up very well

My oven was not working properly, sometimes it would heat,sometimes it would not. With Thanksgiving coming up I needed to have it taken care of. Called Chesterfield Service to come and look at it, we have had them before and they did a good job. They came out and did a diagnostic and found it needed a new DSI board. They said it would need to be ordered .They called when the part came in and came the next day. The technician (Jarod) came on time was very polite and professional, he replaced the part and tested it to make sure it was working. We were very happy with our experience.
Description of Work: DSI board was replaced on my oven.

From the estimate to the final inspection after the installation, all went very well. Because of chimney problems we had to upgrade to a more expensive furnace -- one that comes with a tax rebate (which may not do us any good if we once again have so many medical expenses). In the long run this upgrade may of course save us some money. The installers were low-key, professional, and hard-working. They did a fine job. For example, one took a picture of the interior of the chimney (with his cell phone) to show us what was preventing the installation of the conduit. To avoid the chimney they had to run quite a bit of pvc pipe through the basement and to the outside. They did a beautiful job. We have also liked their repairmen over the years : quiet, professional.
Description of Work: Installation of new AC and furnace. Also repairs to various appliances over the years.

Really, really awful. The tech was rude and insulting. When he said that the problem was due to dirty filters and that they should be cleaned twice yearly (but every 3 months is better), I explained that the system was serviced by his company in August 08 and that the technition showed me how to clean the filters and I did so while he stood next to me working on the system. This guy said "I have no proof of that." I suggested that he call the other tech. He did not respond verbally. I said that $300.00 for a 2 year old system with an extended warrenty seemd high. He said "I just told you that the filters need to be cleaned every 3 months." He went on to say that I should not have let the filters get dirty and that I was really lucky that it did not cost more. He continued to be rude and insulting. Anyway, I called on Wednesday and asked if they had an idea when the parts would be available as it was cold in the house. They had no idea. Said: "we order them and they get here when they get here." They were unwillig to try to find out if they had been shipped or not. So today, (Thursday) I called another company. They arrived promptly and said that the heating coils were fine but the SEQUENCER (this is the part that they installed in August see previous report) was bad. He replaced it and we are warm as toast now. The parts and labor cost $124.95. With the trip charge, the total was $214.90. This is $131.00 less than Chesterfield Service. I am disgusted and plan to contact the BBB. I suspect that they knew that the part they installed was the problem but said it was another part.
Description of Work: While I have had problems with this company in the past, they did eventually (after 18 months) resolve the problem. Also, I purchaced an extended warranty with the system and there were no charges for the prior problems. So, when it stopped heating on Tuesday, April 09, I contacted them. A technition arrived that day and diagnosed the problem as "2nd heating coil burnt out, internal temp overload due to blocked/dirty filter." He said that it would cost $263.00 + the $83.00 trip charge ($346.00 total). He offered to clean the filters for an additional $45.00. He kept trying to sell me a $215.00 service plan. I had one previously but let it lapse. He said that because they did not have a record of seasonal maintanence (service plan), this voids the warrenty and Trane may not pay for the parts. He could not tell me how much they may cost. He said the parts would take 3-4 days to arrive and they would call me when they had them.

We fully refunded this member's money that she paid to the other service company for this repair in an attempt to satisfy her. We strive to offer the highest quality of service at a fair price. We also find that many product failures can be prevented by spring and fall maintenance on the mechanical systems. We also understand that we cannot please all people all the time, but as you can see from many of the other reports we try very hard, and do a good job at it most of the time.

We have used them for at least 5 years. They are great to work with. The office staff is very nice & helpful. The techs that come out are knowledgeable and willing to answer my questions (such as useful life of a/c or furnace, which filters are best for price, how we can be more efficient in our usage, etc). They have consistently identified any problems/future problems and helped us find cost effective ways to get the repairs completed. One thing I have really liked is that over the years their staff has remained consistent. It seems employee turnover is low, which makes me think Chesterfield must be doing something right to retain so many employees.

They were great. The sales rep that came out was wonderful. She was very professional and knowledgeable. She went over everything and all of the options we had so I felt like she wasn't just trying to sell us the most expensive one. They were very flexible about time. They got the job done very quickly. They were very accommodating about our time crunch because we had to have the job done in two days. The workers that installed the unit were very professional and they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves.

Sales and installation went well but we HATE our system. The furnace and AC are so loud and blow so hard that we have to turn up the volume on the TV and are sometimes awakened from sleep by the "clunk and roar" of the furnace - it clunks loudly on start up. It runs for very short periods very frequently. I contacted Chesterfield Service the day after the install (Feb 07 - prior to the clunking). They lowered the blowing noise. On the scheduled service (Jun 07), they noted that the adjustment had damaged a connection so they replaced it and set it back to the roaring noise level. Said that was normal. Fall 07 the furnace started the loud clunk. They came out and said it was normal "echo" when the system clicked on! I suspect that the reason they cannot fix the problems is that the system is far larger than I need so I have to live with this noisy, expensive system. I trusted the sales person regarding the size of the system. I repeatedly stated that I did not need a large system.

THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO US AND WE HAVE BEEN OUT 3 TIMES BECAUSE OF NOISE. EVERY TIME WE HAVE LEFT THE CUSTOMER REPORTED TO BE HAPPY. WE HAVE NOT BEEN BACK TO THE CUSTOMERS HOME SINCE JAN 08 SO WE ARE GOING TO CONTACT HER TO FIND OUT IF WE CAN REVISIT THE SITUATION AND IF NEED BE INVOLVE THE MANUFACTURER'S REPRESENTATIVES. AS A SIDE NOTE WE PERFORMED A MANUAL J LOAD CALCULATION AS WE DO ON ALL REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT, AND WE DID NOT INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF THE SYSTEM IN COMPARISON TO WHAT THE CUSTOMER HAD IN PLACE. THE NEW SYSTEMS ARE CAPABLE OF INCREASING AIR FLOW BUT IN THE CASE OF THIS EQUIPMENT SELECTION IT SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO BE REDUCED BY A PERCENTAGE AS WELL. WE HOPE TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION AND RESTORE THIS CUSTOMER'S FAITH IN US AND HER EQUIPMENT.

CHESTERFIELD SERVICE ADVERTISES 24 HOUR SERVICE. WHEN I SCHEDULED AN EMERGENCY WORK ORDER I WAS SUPPOSE TO BE CONTACTED BY A REPAIRMAN. AFTER TWO HOURS, I CALLED BACK TO SEE WHY I HAD NOT BEEN CALLED. THEY SAID THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP, BUT STILL NO CALL BACK. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED AGAIN AND THAT TIME MY CALL WAS RETURNED, HOWEVER I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT WORK ON MY TYPE OF REFRIGERATOR. THE SLOW RESPONSIVENESS ADDED TO MY FRUSTRATION OF LOSING THE FROZEN FOOD IN MY REFRIGERATOR. I PROBABLY WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN.
