Michael was able to fit us in during an extremely busy day and HOT day. He called to say he was running a bit behind and when he arrived he was courteous, professional and got right into the job. He explained everything he was doing and within an hour we had AC. HIs prices were more than fair and I remarked that I thought it would be higher. He said his business philosophy was to build relationships for the long term. We've tried hard over the years to find our "go to" people for electrical, construction, plumbing, drywall, etc. Heating and AC has been difficult, but I know we've found that person. Kevin Weber

It was a Thursday before the first really steamy week of the summer, and when we arrived home we found our A/C was not working - hot house. That night there was a destructive thunder/lightning storm that took out electric in parts of the Metro (not us though). Next morning, Friday, I called the gas company because we have a service plan...they couldn't come out until the following Tuesday. I got quick recommendations from several friends, and called FIVE companies...none of them could send anyone for 5 days! We had planned a lot of housework for the weekend get ready for guests coming soon, and were freaking out about trying to function in 90 degree heat with 70 degree dewpoints - gaaahhh! Angie's list web site was acting weird in the morning, and after calling the 5 companies, I'd given up. Gave Angie's website another try early afternoon and started calling companies. When I got to G&H, Michael answered, said he'd squeeze us in at the end of the day...and he did! After a few trips to the outdoor unit and the furnace, he found the problems mentioned above, replaced the capacitor, and got everything going. He checked the coolant charge as well and found it to be fine. My husband, who's pretty handy, could tell from Michael's description that he knew what he was doing. He also gave us tips on avoiding potential problems with our furnace's electrostatic air cleaning system. The $200 cost - $75 for the part and $125 for the time/labor to save us a week's insanity, was entirely reasonable! Michael is pleasant, very smart, upbeat and on the ball. We are so lucky we found him! Can't speak for whether the fix will last, because all this happened today. If there are problems I'll come back with a follow-up.

I would highly recommend Michael from G&H heating to install a new furnace. He is smart, knows his products well and can explain to you how everything works together. I tend to research things to death on the internet and ask a lot of questions. He was patient with my questions and very responsive to my calls and emails. He never made me feel that I was being a pain. I will highlight one thing in particular. Everyone that came out to give me a quote told me that the venting had to go out through a wall by my front door which I REALLY didn't want. Since everyone said the same thing I accepted it as truth. When Michael was installing the furnace he realized that he could vent the unit to the other side of my house. I can't tell you how happy that made me. He could have simply gone down the path of least resistance but knew that venting the unit another way was better for me.

I came home from an extended vacation over Christmas and New Years to a house of 43 degrees on New Years Day approximately 4:00 p.m.. My furnace had quit running while I was away. I quickly logged on Angies List and found G&H Heating. The company had excellent reviews. Michael called me back within a half hour. He said he would arrive in approximately 45 minutes and was right on time. I was very pleased with the service and he was very personable. I will be having him quote a new furnace for me in a couple of months. I wasn't sure what to expect having to call for service on a holiday but I was pleasantly surprised.

I called many companies and G & H was able to come out the quickest. They did a quick and clean install. They hauled away all the old equipment. Mike fully explained the new thermostat. They also install a nifty slot to store the books for the new units near the furnace.

Our furnace quit working over night. Checked out Angies list for reliable service techs and called up Mike at G & H Heating first thing in the morning. He showed up within the hour and pulled a dead bird out of my exhaust motor. Had me back up and running in half an hour. Would highly recommend!

Michael at G&H did a great job of presenting American Standard heating and cooling options. Though G&H is not the largest contractor in the area, Michael sold us on his attention to detail and willingness to problem solve heating/cooling issues without simply oversizing either unit. The installation was trouble-free and we are very happy with both the heating and cooling solutions. Michael was prompt with getting all rebate paperwork to us and he certainly delivered as promised. Definitely would recommend G&H.

Excellent. I recently moved to the Twin Cities and have been in the middle of a major remodel of a mid-century that had been severely neglected by the previous owners. Unfortunately, I have not had the best luck with many of the specialists and contractors that I've hired, both through Angie's List and independently. Michael, however, was fantastic. He knows his stuff, gets right to the point, and is extremely fair with his billing. The HVAC industry is littered with nefarious character, but Michael is definitely not one of them.

Michael arrived, gathered information about the problem we were experiencing with high humidity in our home, and went to work. He was knowledgeable and went the extra mile by helping me better understand the functionality of my equipment.

Air conditioning stopped working on one of the hottest days of the year. I spoke with G & H around 9 AM and Michael was out to fix it by noon the same day.

I called and left a message Tuesday. Call was returned the same day and an appointment was made for Friday afternoon. We were happy they would be out that quick. Michael called a couple of hours earlier then the scheduled appointment & asked if it was convenient for us if he came early. Told him we would be glad to see him early. He found our central air conditioner was not working as the circuit breaker was tripped. Michael checked voltages, cleaned the coil in the air conditioner, checked refrigerant level, inspected & added insulation to outside hoses, checked inside drainage and overall operation of unit. He informed us of routine maintenance procedures we could/should perform. Suggested we stabilize outside cables, which we will do. From start to finish we were very pleased with his service. We highly recommend this company & will definitely use him again as the need arises. This service visit went as good as anyone could hope for. He even gave us a $20 discount! Thank you, Michael.

I have hired Michael at G&H Heating for a variety of projects over the course of the last four years including boiler tune-ups, cleaning out the dryer vent, and installing and wiring thermostats. His work on all these projects has been very thorough and has provided me clear details of my options whenever I needed work done. In addition to the yearly tune-ups on the boiler, Michael has tackled some particularly challenging projects such as sending a wire from the basement up to a second floor office, which he was able to do successfully and in a time-efficient manner. Michael is not only trustworthy and professional in his work, but also extremely amiable, so it is always a joy to have him work on a project. I will continue to use G&H exclusively for all my HVAC needs.

Our furnace stopped functioning on a 20 degree night. Michael came over to fix it as soon as he could. Given the hour (9pm), the part wasn't available until the next morning. He arrived early the next morning and had our house warming quickly.

After reading excellent reviews on Michael, we called him for a bid on ducless mini air conditioning in early August. Although he was 10 min late for the appointment, he appeared to be very nice and quite knowledgeable about the type of AC we wanted. However, we didn't receive any quotes from him within the time frame he said we would. We then called him and left a message to inform him that we were waiting for the bid. No response. We waitied almost two weeks before we accepted another bid which turns out to be quite good. So, we were quite diappointed by the fact that we didn't get any response or explanation on why we haven't gotten any reply.

We had a little trouble getting ahold of this provider, but once we did he came out and gave us a bid. He was a no-nonsense type guy. Very thorough bid. We ended up going with a different company, primarily because we wanted a different brand of furnace.

We called Michael on a Sunday to explain that our central air conditioning was not working after my husband did some minor wiring work when we had another company do an inspection and cleaning and they found bare wires. Michael called us back Sunday night and came out for a service call the next day. Michael determined that we did not wait for the 10 minutes necessary to cycle our energy saver switch back on so the central air could work again, and he also checked the refrigerant, determined it was low, and added some. Additionally, the other company recommended we replace our capacitor with an estimate of almost $400. Michael told us we did not need that replaced and that his estimate of costs for the same item was $70. We will definitely be calling Michael again if we have issues with our air conditioning or heating.

On one of the hottest days of the year, I found that my air conditioner was leaking water. Enough to create a puddle by my furnace/AC and thoroughly soak my carpeting. Come to find out, the previous owners had secured the hose to the air conditioner with masking tape and it had finally gave way after 4 years. Despite being extra busy due to the weather Mike was able to come out the next day. Within 30 minutes, he had fixed it by replacing the hose and fitting and he made sure that the pump was still working as well to avoid future problems. He also was able to answer several questions that I had about future projects plus point out a fire hazard that the house inspector had not caught. Mike was quick and I could tell that he takes a lot of pride in his work. Most companies would charge $80 just to show up at your house and then charge you for whatever work they perform on top of that. I found Mike's charges more than reasonable plus he offered a discount for being an Angie's List member on top of that. I will be calling him in the Fall to complete the extra projects that I had inquired about.

The salesman came out within a day and was able to give me multiple estimates for different options to replace my air conditioner and furnace. He was nice, friendly, and helpful in determining what we need to do.

We own a rental house in Shoreview, MN and are very interested in keeping our renters happy. At 7:30 am on July 1, our tenant called to say the air conditioner had gone out. We immediately tried calling several different HVAC companies, but no one could come before July 5, leaving our renters to face a sweltering July 4 weekend. Finally I checked Angie's list for HVAC companies located in Shoreview. I chose G & H HVAC, a Shoreview company with high recommendations. Mike from G & H had already planned his route for the day, but he promised to swing buy our rental house to see what kind of problem existed. He then made time in his schedule to come back and fix the air conditioner's fan later in the afternoon. Mike took the initiative to contact the renter and also took the billing information over the phone, so we never actually met him. All we know is that the air conditioner was running by 3:00 pm and the renter was happy. Also, Mike gave us a $25.00 new customer discount. We will definitely use G & H again!

The project went very well. Mike is an honest, hardworking guy who got the job done. The project took a few hours more than expected but that didn't change the price and it was still completed in a timely fashion.

We woke up at 7 AM on a Sunday with our heater not working. It was cold in the house and immediately called the heating and cooling company we have used for years. They couldn't get someone to our house until 10:30 AM or so- - so I found G&H on Angie's List. We called Michael and he was at our house in less than 40 minutes. We were so appreciative! He determined that our igniter was broken and fixed it right away. We also asked him about our gas fireplace that we have never used. He checked it out with a carbon monoxide detector and determined that it was safe to use. He gave us the 10% first-time service discount and our total bill was $180- -even on a Sunday. What a great deal. He is a very nice guy and we were really thankful for his quick response, quality work, and very fair price. We will definitely use G&H again! What a great experience.

I called Michael at 7AM Sunday because I had no heat in the house. He got my furnace working by circumventing use of the relay and saved a $75 charge Sunday service part charge from Lennox. The next day he installed a new circuit board. I'm very satisfied and intend to have him clean and inspect my air conditioning unit this spring.

The work was awesome. Their work was very good and very educational. I asked questions and he answered them. He seemed very approachable. He wasn't quite there on time.

One of the best experiences from a contractor I have ever experienced; especially after having a miserable experience with a different contractor. Our furnace stopped working (inducer motor seized up) with 5-10 degree temps outside, and he checked it out within an hour of calling first thing in the morning, and came back in the afternoon with a new motor and installed/tested it. He also noticed a few safety issues that were present that I will fix, and replaced some old taping job on some ductwork that was a left-over bandaid fix for stopping A/C condensation leakage. All that is outstanding in itself, then he even gave us a pretty good discount on top of it! I was at military training and unable to take care of this issue myself, and he clearly sympathized and was awesome about it. I won't hesitate to recommend him to everyone I know!
