There were a total of 3 installers working together on the installation. It was Friday afternoon and maybe they were just in a hurry to wrap up the week. They left some mess behind them after the tile install and the grout work. There was some mortar left on my flooring and on my new cabinets. Later I had to clean grout off of countertops and under cabinet light fixtures. This was not a huge deal as it only took some cleaning to deal with, but most of my contractors including their flooring installer did a thorough job of clean up and left things fairly pristine.
The back splash installers cut away some some of the under cabinet trim to make space for the tile. The cuts to the trim weren't very precise, and the tile wasn't cut where maybe it should have been. The end result was that it looked awful in the place where the trim was cut. When the grout guy came back I had him pop some of the tile, cut it and put it back. Then I had to get some more of the under cabinet trim material and have one of the cabinet contractors come back out to remove the damaged trim and install the new trim. It looks good now, but total cost was probably somewhere around $100 or more to correct.
I also asked for a follow up on the grout work. The grout along the bottom of the backslash against the counter top was cracking and chipping out, especially behind the sink where it tends to get wet. The grout should have had plenty of time to set since the sink/water weren't fully installed until days later.
The company reimbursed me for the required cabinet repairs without hesitation. They said they would ask the sub contractor to contact me. After several weeks the sub contractor never did contact me. The company told me he "tried to call me a few times". My email and cell phone were functional during that time and he wasn't in my missed call logs. The company cut me a another partial refund to compensate me for my trouble.
In my opinion the company tried their best to make this right, but had a problem with a less than professional sub contractor.
Almost from the very beginning we had issues with punctuality and scheduling. It was a classic situation of over promising and under delivering. We were told the job would be completed in 1-2 weeks and the job went on for over a month. Their workmen were coming in weekends (including Sundays) at various hours. It was hard to know exactly when they would come to get work done. We certainly felt they were fitting us in rather than scheduling our work.
In the end, we were most unsatisfied with the results as ATR removed our original baseboards and somehow managed to ruin them?! They removed them to stain them (btw, my wife had to match the colors of the floor, not ATR) to match the floors. When they returned them, two of them had sustained cracks (were broken) and one was about a 1/4 shorter??!! How the h*** did that happen without some deliberate action?! Anyway, Dan asked for payment with the promise that he would return to either repair or replace the damaged baseboards. I've not heard from Dan or ATR since the day the walked out of my house. BTW - I paid them nearly in full, sans $100 that was supposed to be paid when the job was done. Typically I don't pay for unfinished work or subpar results. Again...I trusted them to do the right thing.
I didn't follow up with them as later that summer my father was struck with terminal cancer so I spent much of my time caring for him in his last days until he passed. I would think they would live up to their word and be proactive about keeping their promise to take care of this....the right way.
I would NEVER, EVER use these guys again. In fact, we've had additional flooring done since then and we've not called them as they've proven that they can't be trusted. BUYER BEWARE!
"This carpet was not purchased through our company. It was purchased through a local distributor that we often install for. We are the installers you think are excellent :-)"
