Description of Work: Very mixed review: The plumber Tom was excellent - efficient, knowledgable, punctual, professional and easy to work with. Great experience dealing directly with him and I have no complaints about the technical work. However, the woman who answers phones, questions, and schedules work for the company was both difficult to reach and difficult to deal with. I had leave messages 6 times before she called back to schedule. Then she refused to provide an hourly fee for services, or provide any ball park estimates of time needed for three separate small jobs I was considering. So I was forced to take a day off work and was told I would just have to accept whatever price the plumber gave or refuse the work. However she did feel comfortable suggesting the garbage disposal noise I described usually indicated it needed replacement and recommended I pre-purchase one from her for the plumber to bring and install. Instead I went to Home Depot and followed the clerks suggestion to buy a $6.00 wrench and tighten the blades - and this intervention fixed the problem. When the plumber came he explained that the company does not bill by the hour - but has a fixed price for the job - something the office avoided telling me clearly. I was informed the $100.00 discount I purchased thru Angies List was applied to travel time, not the work. He quoted $385.00 labor cost to replace the broken bathroom sink handle unit (and the sink pipe that he said should be included with it). I know plumbers are expensive but that was shocking. Since I had already put so much time in and taken the day off, I agreed. The job took one hour. I had reported my annoyance with the office interactions so he offered to restore good will for the company by replacing a part on the kitchen sink faucet pro bono. I was very grateful for this work as well as the intention, and it helped make the overall expense more appropriate. So for $485.00 I got a one hour repair (and was fortunate to get some pro bono work). I don't like the way this company chooses to run its business, so I won't use them or recommend them.

Description of Work: Tune up for water heater and furnace. Spent a lot of time and was very thorough. Forgot to turn a few things back on after visit but a phone call fixed that.

Description of Work: He did not show up the day he was scheduled. Called me at 6:00 that night and said he was delayed at the job he was working earlier that day. We rescheduled for Noon the next day. He showed up an hour late. He did the furnace and water heater tune up and it seemed fine. 4 days later I had no hot water. I called him at approximately 2:30 in the afternoon and hadn't heard back by 6:30 pm that evening. I gave up and called Home Service Plus from Centerpoint and they came out the next day. They said the pilot light was out. I asked if it was something Mike's Custom had done. Centerpoint said it was possible, but they wouldn't confirm it 100%. I never did hear back from Mike's Custom Mechanical.
