 + 1 moreWe started having sewage back into our house on the August 5th, much to our disgust. We called that evening, but they weren't able to send somebody over until the next morning. He called a couple hours early (hurray!) and was able to come over. However, he wasn't comfortable trying to fit his machine down our 108 year old house's stairs. A couple hours later, a different plumber, Marty -- with his smaller machine -- arrived. He was awesome to chat with, he explained things perfectly, and he did great work. About 80' in, he found the roots that were clogging our pipes and cut them out. The water drained perfectly afterwards.Couldn't recommend Marty more highly! What a great guy!

Description of Work: First, putting a camera in my main sewer line to look for roots & cracks. My house was built in 1919, so I had to be certain the line wasn't damaged before I closed on the home, then I called them back to clean the drain.

 + 0 moreWe called at a quarter to 8 pm on a Sunday and they had Marty call us to let us know when he'd be available. He was available yet for this evening and he said he had a job he was just going to and he'd call us when he was done and on his way. He did call us and ended up showing up sometime shortly after 9 pm, and he was working until almost 11 pm. He snaked out the drain in our basement/laundry room. It was pretty disgusting, and seemed to be not your regular run of the mill gunk in there.GROSS! He did a fantastic job, making sure to tell us what he was doing, spoke to us in a respectful way, and was very much okay with explaining every little thing I wanted to know, to me. He did such a good job, I don't think that drain has ever had the flow it does now. =] We will definitely be using this company again, and absolutely asking for Marty the next time we need something done.

Description of Work: Marty from SOS Drain & Sewer responded to our Sunday evening sewer drain backup. We were delighted that he was able to come on a Sunday, let alone in the evening (and it was Father's Day)! Marty was courteous and very professional. He asked lots of questions in order to better diagnose our particular plumbing challenge. Based upon this initial conversation, Marty suspected that the problem was not in fact in our home's sewer line, but rather in the main line under the street in front of our house. He lifted the manhole cover in front of our house and showed us that there was a backup there, and that was what was causing the backup into our basement via the floor drain. Marty got on his cell phone and called the city water department, described what he had found, and was able to get the municipal vacuum truck to arrive (again, this is on a Sunday evening -- and Father's Day) and clear the blockage in the main. But Marty wasn't done yet. He then removed all of the backed-up water from our floor and utility sink, and then snaked our drain and sewer line just to make sure. When he was done with all of that, Marty then asked if we had any other plumbing problems in the house. Fortunately, we had none to report. Our experience with SOS Drain & Sewer was very positive, far better than we expected. Our problem was solved, and we paid a fair price for excellent service. Marty's experience and willingness to investigate an unlikely cause (which turned out to be right) of our problem saved us a great deal of time and money. His ability to convey his findings to the city's water department and get them to respond probably saved our neighbors a plumbing headache as well. We will use SOS again if we have a drain problem again, but we hope we don't have to!

The service tech called ~ 10 minutes before he arrived and while clearing the line explained what he was doing and how/ what we could do in the future to avoid the kind of clog we had .Excellent service, above and beyond what I expected and for about half the cost of what I thought it would be. These guys are THE BEST!

They were very prompt to return my phone call yesterday, but it wasn't critical to have them come out on the weekend, so I waited until this morning to have the service. They were very up-front about the costs, too, which I appreciated. I would definitely do business with them again and have told a couple of neighbors already that I know a good company if they need drain cleaning done.

 + 0 moreAfter a night of flash floods, I walked down to my basement and into about three inches of standing water. Historically I've made poor choices with contractors, but this day I wised up and signed up on Angie's list. As I skimmed through the list of plumbers in my area the choice was obvious based on their A-rating: SOS Drain and Sewer Services. I called SOS and a half hour later a friendly plumber was at my door eager to get to work and solve the problem! I was asked numerous questions until the problem was correctly diagnosed: a plugged basement drain due to silt run-off from leaking cove joints. An electric drain snake was used to clear the impacted silt. A new trap seal primer cap was installed free of charge. The plumber then poured a bucket of clean water down the drain to confirm plug was successfully cleared and water flow restored. I received a 10% Angie's List discount. Best contractor experience ever!

 + 0 moreCalled 20 minutes before arrival. Arrived at the time agreed upon. Went straight to work clearing the shower stall drain and the main floor drain in the laundry area. Jeff had to overcome some resistance in the main drain. Both drains are now flowing freely. Total time was about 30 minutes. Price charged was exactly the price quoted over the phone, which included a 10% Angie's List discount.

Description of Work: We had to call SOS again (on Easter Sunday) to clear another drain in our house. The individual we contacted made it very clear there would be an additional fee because of weekend service and it had nothing to do with being Easter. I made it clear we understood that and scheduled an appointment that day. The technician called when he was on his way and upon arrival did a thorough job, cleaned up well after he was finished, and explained everything he did. Very professional experience.
