I called Standard because I was unhappy with my prior HVAC company. I have an old furnace/air handler and an even older air conditioner (16 and 23 years, respectively), so I invest in annual maintenance programs to keep them running as long as possible and as well as possible before I need to replace them. My prior company would always "forget" to schedule the maintenance appointments that I'd already paid for, so I'd always have to call and remind them, and then they would constantly tell me I should be replacing the systems because of their age. I don't believe you should replace a system just because it's old if it's still running as intended (and my utility bills are not bad, either), and I wanted to find a company that felt the same way. When the Standard tech showed up, he immediately did the A/C tuneup and checked all of the usual things, and even did a few extra things that I had not seen checked/done with other programs (like checking and cleaning the flame sensor for oxidation). He noted that for its age the system was still in great shape. He said that I should just keep investing in the maintenance until the system needed major work. I knew I found the right company! We then went over the different maintenance packages and I was happy to see that Standard had one specifically designed for older systems. I was happy to pay a few extra bucks for that, since it meant that the system would be getting more attention than a new one. I was also impressed that they asked me when I wanted to have each of the maintenance appointments throughout the year and he took down my preferences. Way more proactive than the last company. So, I'm very happy with the experience so far, and I look forward to working with Standard to keep this old system going for as long as I can and replacing it eventually when it truly needs to be done.

I was out of town with family emergency and my tenant was out of AC. I didn't have good phone service so I had my cousin as secondary contact. I feel happy with everything except the cost... $324 for service call plus AC recharge. My cousin advised him what to do (being a heating a cooling professional himself from out of town). This included the $20 off service call. I would call them again in emergency only.

They arrived right on time, were very professional and courteous. When decisions needed to be made about changes to the plan, they explained our options in a way that was understandable. They also made sure I understood how the systems worked and where we could get answers if we needed to.

Fast/Nice/And priced well, was worried this was going to be a $1000+ job but things turned out much better.

Service performed within 15 minutes on 27 yr. old A/C unit. They continue to amaze me.

Everything went great. Mike tried several things, including cleaning the build up of cotton, leaves, etc off the AC unit. He was very professional and knowledgeable.

The technician called 15 minutes before he was going to arrive, he immediately put booties on his shoes upon entering (unnecessary but professional), and he performed the service within 20 minutes. We had a burnt wire in our furnace that was preventing it from working. It was a wire that attaches the front cover to the furnace so when the cover is removed for inspection/repair, the furnace automatically shuts off to avoid injury or damage. He explained that the wire was not necessary and that they break or burn more often than any other wires in these units. He clipped the wire, put a wire cap on it, put the cover back on, and our A/C started as if it had never been broken. I was pleased that he didn't speak down to me; he explained the issue clearly and had a professional demeanor during his entire visit. He also checked our air filter, A/C coil, furnace coil, and a few other things to ensure they were functioning correctly. I purchased an Angie's List coupon for this vendor but the coupon notes stated that we would be contacted withing 48-72 hours. Since it was quite hot in our house without the A/C and I wanted it resolved quickly, I called their office to schedule the appointment and to make sure it was OK to still use the Angie's List coupon. Tasha was polite and efficient on the phone and explained how I should enter my information in the coupon to redeem it. We scheduled the first available appointment and all I had to do was sign when the technician was done with his work. I would definitely use Standard Heating and Air Conditioning again!

This company is wonderful. They were prompt & figured it out immediately, flipping a fuse switch that wasn't showing that it had been tripped, but had been, due to some strong surges here while we were gone. They did not charge us, as they had just been out to service the A/C.

The entire process went smoothly. Steve, the sales person, went above my expectations by contacting the Mpls city inspector prior to installation to see if a tricky placement of the AC was going to be OK. He also arranged for a technician to come to my home to check on the upstairs ductwork prior to me signing the contract. They found and fixed a problem in the ductwork free of charge. The installation technician was very detailed oriented and a conscientious worker. Electrician was friendly and helped walk me through how to use the new thermostat. Very good experience and I would use them again.

Technician was right on time. He was dressed very neatly with a clean uniform shirt that showed his name. He inquired about any problems we may be having and went right to work. There was no trying to sell us things we didn't need. We were told the air conditioner was in good shape. He also took the time to answer questions we had regarding our air exchanger. Very helpful.

First guy saw something strange, he phoned a friend but was not able to resolve the issue, Issue was escalated to the Guru who came out the next work day and reviewed the system (no additional charge). This is the second time I've used this company, both experiences were excellent.

Spent more time than expected figuring out why the system wasn't working and needed to add freon to the outdoor unit so was charged extra for time and labor. Overall with the Angie's list coupon I was hoping to save some money but it probably came out about a normal visit with the extra charges. Technician was professional and explained the full situation to me. Overall good experience.

Went well. Don't know the efficacy of the solution. There is no guarantee or warranty. Much cheaper than replacement. It's a method designed to repair at a lower cost. According to technician, this is partly a quality issue and fractures are common resulting in slow leaks. Overall, the company is very responsive and professional. The problem was analyzed quickly and the remedy was performed. The system currently works well (as it had two other times I had coolant added by another company). Time will tell if the solution is temporary or permanent. I hope for the latter. As for the fair price, I just don't know what other companies charge. If the solution works, the price is worth every penny. If not, it's money down the drain. Therefore, price isn't applicable in this case.

Service was part of a prepaid (3 per year) furnace/air conditioner service program. They perform a thorough operating system inspection and cleaning. I've been using Standard for more than 20 years and have always been happy with their service. Technicians are prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. They put on shoe covers upon entering to keep my floors clean. Whenever I've had a problem with either the furnace or AC, they have responded promptly and fixed the problem.

I bought a big deal for this service and everything was great. It was through Home Depot. I think the price was average and competitive.

First off, Joe came by and checked out our ailing air conditioner and let us know it was a goner and why. Then Kelly, the sales rep came over, measured the house and made recommendations based on our budget, house needs and our desire to upgrade to a much more efficient system. She also let us know and applied for all the rebates we're eligible for (quite a few).We scheduled an installation the next week and the crew showed up on time and ready to go. Everyone was on their game and answered any questions, from the installers to the electricians to the gas guy. The new system works great, looks great and we're happy and satisfied. They have a commitment to service and are there to answer questions at any time. This was a big investment for us and one we needed to make. Everyone at Standard Heating made it a simple decision. I would highly recommend them for your next AC and/or furnace!

Inspection of AC by this company found to be near the end. Went with company and a rapid -schedule and AC replacement. On time and professional company installers, electrician (another contract company and at another pre-scheduled time) spent time on cell phone with personal business until requested to get off the phone and finish the job. In retrospect should have gotten a couple of other bids. Did not receive a complete description of available replacement AC options. AC installation failed city inspection because of a lack of UV cover on lines--company knew this--have to reschedule a new inspection-company will handle rework without cost. Too many different appointments to complete the task-- everything works perfectly but too much of a pain: Good outfit but not the best.

It went very well. I would recommend the technician by the name of Deacon--very good representative for the company.

We purchased our furnace and a/c from Standard Heating & Air Conditioning and we are so glad we did. We just had our summer a/c check and they continue to be professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. We have had the furnace almost 5 years and we receive the same high quality attention and service today like we did when we were shopping around and purchased with Standard. The service was great as always. The technician was right on time, very courteous and knowledgeable. He offered tips on how improve the air flow to the upper level and keep the outside unit clean. He was also great with my dog who wanted some extra attention that day. My unit is almost 20 years old and this company has kept it running and in good condition.

They always do a great job and have really nice guys working for them. They do preventative maintenance on furnace also. Never have I been disappointed. Their pricing is fair.
