Description of Work: central air conditioning quit cooling, the tech called before getting to the house arrived on time, quickly found the problem, let me know the cost before the repair was started. also performed a tune up of the system. couldn't be happier with the whole experience. will use them again.

Description of Work: They came out to do a maintenance/tuneup on a boiler type furnace. Early on in the service call the tech figured out that the CO2 was sky-high. So if the vent pipe were to leak at all, well, sayonara to us. So the service call basically ended there. No tuneup, no nothing. In fact the tech turned off the furnace, saying he was required to do so. Up to that point I didn't have any problem with the transaction. It was days later when my wife inquired as to what they charged, and if they changed the rate since no tuneup was actually done. Well, life got busy. Never got around to calling Standard to complain. And now too much time has passed. I just kind of figure they should have a policy on maybe just charging for a straight-up service call. Like the minimum charge, whatever that is. Their Big Deal offer was 98 bucks for a tuneup of a forced-air furnace. We had to add a hundred to that for the boiler heater. And really, their job was easier even than the forced-air furnace tuneup. Because all he had to really do was take the CO2 reading and then shut off the furnace. By the way, I turned it back on the next day, bought two top-of-the-line CO2 sensors and eventually found an installer who put in a new boiler a couple of weeks later.

Description of Work: Our old central A/C went out, and we called Standard because they had installed the furnace in our house a few years earlier. Every person we dealt with, from the scheduler, to the technician who diagnosed the problem, to the sales rep who explained (courteously and without pressure) the options we had, to the installers who were super thorough, were absolutely outstanding. We never felt pressured or "sold" on any of our choices, and they worked within our schedule to complete the work. Their thoroughness in taking care of all the little details (AngiesList discount, Xcel rebate, recycling the old A/C, cleanup after the job, explaining the warranties, etc. was well beyond our expectations and gave us a sense of total trust. Great company, great people. Thank you.
