Said Minnegasco Service Plus overloaded the freon and first was told it would cost me $267 for them to take out the overage, which of course I was shocked so then he tells me he could do it for $93. Go from $267 to $93 - what's up with that?! Said he would guarantee it would fix it. Well, it didn't. He came out again and now I'm told it's the TXV or TVX part that needs to be replaced which would cost $532! They installed the unit 7 years ago so I'm not happy! I could have had Minnegasco Service Plus come out for free to take out the overage, but this guy with Standard sat and bad mouthed them and said he would do it right and would I really want to chance having someone who doesn't really know what they're doing to take out the overage so of course I paid the add'l $93 to have this little jerk take it out and in the end it still isn't fixed!

Arrived on time. Had a very difficult time understanding and diagnosing the problem with the furnace blower, but eventually was successful. Suggested replacement part, but the problem has not returned, and we have not done the expensive replacement. Very thorough job servicing the A/C. Spent a lot time and seemed somewhat unsure of best way to proceed, but checked with the office for assistance. Was not familiar with the older A/C unit. It is 12 years old. We purchased a service contract that provides a price break on routine maintenance and parts. The service person did not explain it in a way that was straightforward and simple to understand exactly what the deal was. He was personable and patient and very courteous.

The company was very prompt and was able to schedule all appointments within days. The installers did a good job of explaining things to me and showing me the work they had completed before they left. I found them very nice. It took about 8 hours to complete the entire installation. I don't think the salesperson did a good job of communicating that there would be 3 different teams coming out to instal. Overall, it was a good experience though.

WOW! We came back from vacation during the hottest week of the summer only to find our AC frozen solid. A call to Standard Heating resulted in a speedy service call. After Nathan spent quite a bit of time checking out our system and telling us what needed to be done, we decided to replace rather than repair our 18 year old AC. We were in a bit of a panic thinking there was no way to get a new AC system in by the weekend when we had out of town company arriving! Brad came out the very next day to give us a quote on a new system and was able to get it installed the following day, on Friday! Both Brad and Nathan were extremely easy to talk to and were very professional. Al and his coworker came to install the next day as promised, and again I was very impressed with the professionalism of the job done! I was especially impressed with the extra time and care they took to cover their shoes when indoors and to protect our carpet with pads. They had EXCELLENT service all the way around!

They were prompt in giving me an estimate and in doing the installation.

Very polite, always on time, very professional. Mesha did beautiful work. Mike was a very nice and thorough salesman.

Standard's pricing was only $10 more than the bid we eventually chose, but I was very turned off by the style of the salesman who came to do the bid. He stressed the Standard Heating company history, size, and service reputation ad nauseum - in fact, while other companies' bids included brochures for the products they'd sell me, this guy's materials included only a thick promotional piece for Standard. His bid didn't even include a model number for the A/C unit he would have installed! He also repeatedly made detrimental remarks about other companies, telling me that no one offered products on the same level, that they measured incorrectly for bids, etc. Instead of respecting me as an intelligent consumer, he literally told me, "I'm the expert, you're the ignorant bystander." My experience with Standard's service calls has always been good, but I was not impressed with this salesman's performance. We chose another company.

They were excellent. The salesman was very through, knowledgeable about the products, and made sure we had the right size of unit. The installers were neat clean and courteous. I am happy with the Bryant product they sold me. They allowed me to negotiate the price and came down for me.

The sales consultant, Dave, knew his product well and was able to educate us about all of our options. The crew that came completed the project in very little time. They put forth a great deal of effort because our small space was barely enough room to put the new furnace in.

They have excellent customer service! They got everything taken care of in one day, cleaned up after themselves, and did a great job managing a small space. I would definitely recommend them!

The salesman was on time, very courteous, and took the time to review my options on additional projects. I had called in regard to a special, and the sales call seemed a little high pressure, as an on the spot decision was required to get the special pricing--which apparently was ending that day. Brad did explain my right to cancel, however, if I changed my mind. He also later answered additional questions, and happily made an additional trip to finalize some paperwork. The installer arrived on time and explained the work to be done. When I expressed concern about the scope of work involved with install of the heating vent, he eventually agreed to call the office and get approval to cancel this portion of the job. The A/C installation went ahead as planned. Unfortunately, the electric, which is subcontracted, was not hooked up the day of installation. When I brought this to Standard's attention, they acted promptly and their subcontractor arrived the same afternoon to finish the job.

The people doing the work were on time and completed the job in one day as promised. After the work was finished, they walked me around the finished products and told me what they did and what to expect. The sales rep told us about all the rebates and filled out the paper work for us and provided a stamped envelope.

Ed from Standard Heating and Air Conditioning was a pleasure to work with. (He was the one who told me about Angie's List). Two years ago he sold me a new furnace and I have been very happy with the quality of that unit, the savings with my heating costs and the entire installation process. When I found out that I needed a new air conditioner, I knew who to call. I actually had the new air conditioning unit installed the first week of April 2006, and the installation was seemless. The installer was a very clean worker, in fact, you could not even tell that anyone had been working in my house! I would strongly recommend this company for any of your heating or cooling needs.

The work was fine. The one thing that REALLY PISSES ME OFF though, is that they stuck a bunch of stickers all over my furnace. This is MY PROPERTY. The technician did not ask me, he just did it. That level of disrespect is simply unacceptable. After having another company pull the same stunt today I have had enough. Both companies are going to come and remove their stickers or they will pay professional cleaning bills to have them removed. Proving they did it should be easy, all I have to do is take a picture so my suggestion to them is to 1. come and remove their unasked for advertising and 2. apologize as fast as they can and 3. instruct their technicians that they must always ASK before placing advertising on a customers property. BTW, This list asks if I would hire them again and requires it. The answer is depends on whether or not they clean up their vandalism on my property or not. So the real answer at this point is 'maybe'.

I worked with Dennis Hines a few months ago to replace a furnace. I contacted Standard again to put in central air, requesting Dennis again. He's great. The installers were great. Doug & Josh were very nice & very clean. No complaints. The electricians also did a great job, everything works great. The only issue I had with the whole experience is that one of the electricians left my front gate open. My 2 dogs got out. I lost them for about 10 minutes. Not happy about that. If you enter a gate, close it behind you. One of the guys saw my dogs & I was able to get them back unharmed. Lucky for them (Sparks). All in all though, a fantastic job once again by Standard.

They showed up as promised for both the estimate and the work. The work was performed exactly as specified, and they cleaned up after themselves. A minimum disruption to the household routine. An excellent experience.

Dave was professional and courteous. Seemed very knowledgeable. The price includes a follow-up furnace re-check in the fall (they enroll you in a service plan for the year). He suggested some improvements to our humidifier and left an estimate for this as well.

I have always had good service from Standard. The repair/installation guys are wonderful, friendly and punctual.

Very helpful on phone, but I chose another company I thought was less expensive (was not).

Bob came out to house and did through inspection. His estimate was very difficult to read as it was on a 5x7 sheet of note book paper. Bob later went out of town for a month and did not let anyone in his office know about the project. I called to ask questions and no one could answer them. I hired another company to do the work.

It was a great experience except for the mouse nest! I called, and they were able to come out that same day. They told me about their maintenance plan which was just $50.00 more, but they would come back in the fall and give the furnace a tune-up. Plus, there are other benefits to the plan. It was a very good value, so we went with that. So the $207.00 that we paid also includes the furnace tune-up and a safety check. There is a discount on repairs with the plan, also. The service person was very careful, putting on shoe covers whenever he came in from outside. He was very informative telling us that we really didn't need the expensive furnace filters, and that some of the less expensive actually did a better job. Very nice guy.

Talked to President of company this week and he was very professional. But I had to go through my sales rep's boss first who was very snide and totally unhelpful. My call was because sales rep had "promised" a reduction in heating costs of 30% which didn't happen -- in fact, my bill went up. President says it's because of rising fuel costs and colder winter this year. I believe him, yet I still am dismayed that I'm not seeing any significant reduction in cost given the huge outlay for the high efficiency furnace. They shouldn't be advertising this if it's not true -- that constitutes false advertising. Also, they said they couldn't do wiring because of some city ordinance I think (St. Louis Park). So I had to wait yet ANOTHER day for electrician to show up from Spark Electric, company Std. Htg used.

We were charged $378 for less than 45 minutes of work to reconnect a gas range. The brand new range itself costs less than $300. When we wrote the company and spoke to the customer service person, we were told that Standard uses a "pricing code" that bears no relation to the amount of time a particular service person spends on the job; they're right about that. Apparently, this pricing code, which is applied after the $89 charge just to show up and do nothing, bears no relation to the work that's actually done either. We recommend using someone else. After the fact, we learned that contractors typically charge about $75 for a gas range hook-up, and that's without an $89 showing up fee. ($378 an hour is more than most attorneys charge, and at least they even give you the full hour).

My furnace was installed five years ago and has been checked and tuned by Standard Heating every other year. The always come on time, are polite and knowledgeable and do great work. The technician noticed I had not replaced my humidifier filter and took care of that for me. He also noticed a small crack in the heat exchanger. He had a new one ordered and returned to replace it at no cost as I was just within the five year warranty period. I am very grateful to him and happy with the company in every way.

My furnace was red tagged by Centerpoint on Friday morning. A sales rep from Standard, Shawn, came out that afternoon and gave me a bid that was about the middle of the road of 3 other bids in price. Shawn was low pressure. I was able to get a furnace installed on Saturday without an extra charge. The technicians were friendly, informative, and cleaned up after themselves.
