They did good work, and were helpful pointing out where a previous company had not done some things properly. Very thorough. My only complaint is that they schedule in four hour time slots which are difficult to plan for other than setting aside the entire day.

I called Standard Heating and air conditioning on Monday. This was the same day they came and confirmed that the old furnace was not functioning. On Wednesday, Brad Link came and recommended replacing the furnace. On Friday the new furnace was installed.

Unfortunately the company that installed our furnace wasn't available on the day we needed them to come. We have a baby...so didn't really want to wait 3 days or pay the 1.5 after hours fee. We called Standard instead. The guy inspected the issue and 5 minutes later said it was the input motor but since furnace is new it is probably under warranty. We paid him the $99 and he was on his way. I guess it pays to just wait...it was just a bad spot to be in. Now we have to pay the labor amount twice. Just for the record though, the original installation company said that the $750 they quoted for the input motor was incredibly overpriced.

I wasn't sure if our furnace needed replacing or just a tuneup, since it seemed to work fine. I scheduled a routine tuneup;three week wait. The technician arrived at 8 am as scheduled, very neat and polite. In just a few minutes he was able to see a crack in the heat exchanger and said the furnace needed to be turned off permanently and needed to be replaced. He called for a salesperson to come the same day. Suddenly, we needed a new furnace ASAP. Six hours later, the salesman, Shawn, arrived. He gave us two estimates on replacement furnaces,and said the soonest ours could be replaced was eight days (no heat except for our gas fireplace). In the meantime, I called another company who arranged for the furnace to be replaced four days sooner than Standard Heating. I might have gone through Standard Heating for the new furnace, but we were suddenly forced with making a decision quickly. The $105 paid would have been credited to a new furnace through Standard.

Called to report that the five year old gas furnace (purchased and installed by Standard originally) was not turning on at my rental property. I called at 11:30 am, and they were able to send out a tech between 2-6pm same day. He showed up at 5pm and was very courteous and professional. Tech did some troubleshooting steps and explained what he was doing the whole way. Eventually determined that the thermostat wire had been severed during remodel project. Recommended that I get an electrician to install a new one since the basement ceiling was now covered up by drywall, but instead go for a four wire connection (not two wire like original one was) so that I could eventually expand it to AC controller if I ever wanted to go down that route.

This company has an excellent reputation on Angie's List for quality work. The service representative was very personable, but we felt he was up-selling us; he recommended a much larger furnace than either of the other two bids we received and was pushing the purchase of a variable speed blower and heat pump air conditioner, both of which are much more expensive and also more prone to problems down the road.

The salesman Mike was very courteous and explained the various options well. The installers were professional, efficient, finishing earlier, than I expected but there were a couple of problems. They forgot to reignite the pilot light on the hot-water heater, so I was without hot water for a few days. The AC was also a bit noisier than I expected and they could have done a better job sealing the hole for the exhaust pipe. I called the company and they sent someone over relatively quickly to remedy the problems. I have used the AC and furnace a few times, since and am extremely happy with the results.

From the last field: The technician called me to tell me that there was doubt if a unit could fit by the furnace and that Mr. Beach would handle the quote. After MANY calls, Mr. Beach came out to quote on the system in late August. I still haven't heard from him and the whole project is on hold until we can figure out this issue. Very poor response!!!

They were very pleasant and clean. I thought I was having a problem with the thermostat and they came right out as soon as I called them. It turned out I didn't know how to program it. A very pleasant company to work with!

Customer service was very good. All phone calls were returned promptly (sales agent could not be reached directly but rather contacted via voice mail). They were willing to entertain pricing negotiation. Installers arrived on time and were courteous and professional. When I found the AC to be unexpectedly noisy, someone came back out to my house and added insulation which reduced the noise level. Again, service was great.

Great overall experience. The sales representative was very thorough and explained everything in detail. The installer was polite, clean, professional and got the job done quickly. They offered me a great price and threw in a new digital thermostat as well.

Everyone at Standard has been up front, incredibly honest and did wonderful work. They really went out of their way to deal with my predicament and acted as though it was all in a day's work. I was selling my duplex in Minneapolis and was 3 days from closing when found out that one of the two furnaces didn't pass inspection and had to be replaced or the closing would fall through. I called and they were able to work out a quote the same day and started installation the next morning. Their actions in general speak volumes of their integrity and honesty. There was a chance that the chimney liner would need to be replaced as well. After being told this, I fully expected it. As it turns out, it was fine and they worked with the existing liner. I've already relocated across the country, they could have easily done the additional work and I would have been helpless. Their integrity and performance is nothing short of amazing these days.

I have had three experiences with this company and they have all been very positive. There is an attitude of professional pride that I really like and that comes through consistently in several ways- the three technicians I've worked with have been patient, forthcoming with information about my system, and technically knowledgeable; this is probably not the cheapest company to work with, but it may be the best value, because I seem to be getting frank, trustworthy information (example: my type of ductwork does NOT need duct cleaning right now, despite the insistence of numerous duct-cleaning companies who have never even visited my house); they are very up front about what things will cost, there seems to be a genuine commitment to never surprise me with costs I was not expecting; I have learned useful things about my heating and cooling systems partly because the technicians took the time to explain what they were doing. This may not be everybody's cup of tea, but I like it.

They are a very good company to deal with. That's why we stick with the same people. I've been very satisfied.

Salesman Dave was on time. Explained the different furnaces available. Made sure I got all the discounts available including Angie's list coupon, Xcel rebate, and $300 discount from current add. Kent the installer showed up right on time. Completed his part in about 3 hours. Explained what he was going to do. Electrical and gas hook-up people were on time. Gas guy explained the operation of the furnace and electrical explained the new thermostat. Everything was cleaned up neatly. Couldn't even tell that work had been done. This was my 3rd experience with Standard and I'd highly recommend them.

I was very pleased with their professionalism and quality of work. They even hung some tubing I had for my water heater better. Cleaned up very well.

Standard has my plumbing business from now on. I emailed them and asked for an estimate. When the rep called he was pleasant and professional. He estimated that the work would take approximately four hours and explained that since they charged an hourly rate, the cost would depend on how long it took and what parts were needed. We supplied the new sink, faucet, disposal and soap dispenser. Randy, the plumber, was fast and efficient so the installation took three hours and Randy was totally neat, professional, and skilled. I am very pleased with the work, especially since another firm that charges "by the job" estimated upwards of $825 for the same work. Standard also has a 10% discount for Angie's List subscribers which further reduced my costs. I couldn't be happier with Standard Heating & Air Conditioning.

John was friendly and knowledgeable. He arrived on time and performed the work as requested. We like that Standard offers a discount if you order a furnace and air conditioner tune up at the same time. You do not need to have the work performed on both units at the same time to receive the discount.

Ben arrived within 24 hrs, in the evening, to give thorough quote and also provided advice on furnace, filters, etc. (we're new homeowners), despite us having missed previous appt. Installation was scheduled 1st thing on a Saturday during a heat wave. Installers were very polite and wore booties even though they didn't need to remove shoes. Very nice job - actually haven't inspected inside but when I've been down there, it hasn't occurred to me, so must be clean. We left during install and went to Science Museum - upon return, was installed, clean, doors locked, and nothing missing! ;) Only negative is house took a couple days to cool off - but it was 99 degrees, with no A/C for a month. All staff were very friendly and approachable, we rec'd our Xcel rebate quickly, and no problems. Would definitely use again.

The technician was on time, polite, and conscientious about covering his shoes. He took the time to explain his findings. I would use this company again.

Even though the a/c broke down during one of the hottest stretches, a rep from Standard was out the next day to inspect my unit. When it was decided to replace it, I worked all the details out with Arla. She was very knowledgeable and made the process easy. Within a couple days the installer came out AS SCHEDULED & ON TIME and put in the new unit and parts, tested it, hauled away the old unit and gave a thorough explanation about the new unit and parts. They even included a file holder on the furnace to keep all the paperwork right at the unit for future maintenance and repairs. I wish all companies were as nice and efficient as Standard. Very helpful setting up a loan with the center for energy and the environment, (CEE - loans for windows/roofs/ anything that deals with energy) assisted with the rebate, took care of everything. They were really great.

The employees arrived on time. They were very pleasant and took the time to explain what they would be doing. The Sales Rep. John Ruddy also coordinated having the electrician arrive on the same day so I didn't have to take another day off. John Ruddy was one of the most pleasant representative I've dealt with in years. He took a lot of time to discuss Standard Heating and AC and to show me what size units I would need. I never once felt pressured. I can't say enough about how courteous and efficient all the employees who did the installation were. The electricians were also very courteous and efficient. It was a 90 degree day when they did the installation but that didn't slow them down. Everyone cleaned up the installation area after they were through. I am extremely pleased with the workmanship and the quality of the products. I would never hesitate to recommend Standard Heating and Air Conditioning to my friends, infact I have already.

While I have not yet used Standard Heating, I will use then when I have the opportunity. When I called in, I made it known that I did not yet own ANY type of heating system, but that I had some questions. Mike, in sales, returned my calls several times, often calling from home on his own time. He was patient, very thorough in answering my questions and a really nice guy on top of it all. Because of how knowledgeable and friendly Mike was, I will call Standard whenever I have a furnace, boiler, or A/C unit or need one. I also called around to several places to price things out, and they seemed very reasonable. They were also one of the only companies willing to give me a very rough estimate of how much things might actually cost. I became really frustrated with all of the people who wouldn't even give a broad estimate without coming out. All I wanted was to get a realistic idea of how much things cost. Mike was AWESOME!

John Ruddy was very helpful and accomodating to our needs. He did a good job of explaining our options and making sound recommendations.
