When our AC went out in August, I called three companies from Angie's List for bids. I selected Standard because of their professionalism, prompt response, quality of product, and they had the best price to boot. Installation professionals were on time, personable and tidy. Standard also handled the subcontracting of the electrical work that needed to be done. Simply a great effort from what I think is a well run, experienced company. I highly recommend Standard.

Within 24 hours of my call, Dennis Hines met me at a house that I am considering buying as an investment. He was at the house when I got there and had already measured the outside dimensions. I explained what I needed and he looked at the house and provided me with the cost of various options, depending on the efficiency rating. He also advised me regarding payback on the more efficient furnace option. He provided an estimate on the spot, including timing. I have not yet done the work, since I don't yet own the house. However, I have used Standard before to put in a new forced air furnace in an older home, replacing gravity and also to install central air in my current home that uses a boiler for heating. They have always been prompt, courteous and thorough in completing the projects on time and on budget.

Great experience. Ed is a polite salesman. He gave us all the assurances we needed. The install date was confirmed and things went well. Polite, professional installer. City inspector signed off on their work. I felt secure in having them do the work. I was very pleased overall.

We called them because a relative recommended them & they had a special sale going on. The sales rep was personable & knowledgeable, though came across as more of a salesperson rather than one who actually does the work. They said that another manufacturer we were considering was "low end", but that was not our impression. There was somewhat of a time pressure to get the deal. Though they offered low cost financing, we preferred to wait until we actually had the funds in hand, which would be soon, but not soon enough to get their sale. We went with another vendor who was actually a little cheaper.

It did not go well. I got quotes from the top 5 heating and air companies listed on Angie's List. Standard had the highest quote of all. They were 35% higher then the other companies offering the exact same system. What was more troubling was discussing where to place the exhaust and intake. Because the system is high efficiency the current venting process could not be used. I wanted to send them up the garage wall and out the roof. The representative said this could not be done. He suggested sending them out the front of the house or the side; both would not have worked and would have looked awful. He wanted me to sign the order before reaching agreement on how to vent it. He kept saying don't worry about it. The installers will figure it out and if they can't we will just put in an 80% efficient model, which can be vented through the existing chimney. But I don't want an 80% efficient model. That was the whole reason for buying a new unit, to upgrade to something more efficient. I convinced the sales rep. to send out one of their technicians to assess the problem. The technician was very knowledgeable. He concurred there was only one way to do it properly and that was they way I suggested.

I'm so glad this company didn't take advantage of a naive homeowner. I would have kicked myself if the service man came out here to charge me $90 for a $9 filter!

Standard has been terrific at contacting us to set up times for the home visits, and the folks doing the work have been great with their honesty about our heating and A/C, and have given nice pointers on things we can do to help prolong the lives and prevent repairs while they are still working.

We bought a house in late May, knowing full well we would need a heating and AC solution. We got quotes from 5 different places, and finally Standard. Justin Strain came to our house, examined our HVAC system, made his recommendations and told us about Standard as a company. We were impressed, and moreover, we were impressed with their reputation on Angie's List. We talked about the other bids we had received, and Justin made sure his offer was the absolute best. We came to terms on a 15.5 seer Bryant AC unit and a 95% efficient Bryant furnace. Justin helped us find the right program for financing, and once we secured financing, Justin was in touch with us right away to schedule the work. He told us that we had nothing to worry about with their technicians, and that we could leave a $100 bill and no one would touch it, and if they did Justin would replace it. Justin was right, Standard's technicians were consummate professionals. We ran into a snag with the amount of room we had for the furnace, and in order to make it work, they gave me a free upgrade to an active filtration system because it took up less space. The technicians worked with me on where to route the duct work. We have limited storage space, and they did everything they could to smartly use the space they needed while freeing up other space for us. They gave us back one entire closet!!! They finished the job in one day, and did an outstanding job. Justin followed up with us afterward to make sure everything was just right, and to make sure we were set for the city inspector. I would recommend them to everyone looking for new heating and cooling.

They are very competent in their work. They really seemed to know what they were doing. They answered any questions I had. They cleaned up after themselves.

I called to request for estimate on work to be done in my house. One thing I asked was for their license number in the state of MN. The DLI (MN Dept. of Labor & Industry) guide suggests that anyone looking to hire a contractor check a contractor's license. An innocent question was turned to a question and answer session - the receptionist didn't know their license number so she transferred me to a manager who in turn questioned my motives - even though I was clear that I just wanted their license number because of the recommendations from DLI. He seemed somewhat offended and very wary of my request and even hinted that I was a state/county/city official fishing for information. How ludicrous unless you have something to hide! I was taken aback and decided not to use them at all. He did offer to put me on hold and go look for his license number, but I told him no thanks. After being questioned by him about my intentions even though I explained 3-4 times the same thing, he already placed doubts in my mind about his business.

I requested the same salesman that my friend had, but he was no longer with the company so they sent a different salesman. No big deal. The gentleman was on time for the estimate and performed a thorough walk through with me. He made notes of what I wanted and made some suggestions for equipment. As with every salesman, I received the sale pitch about how they are the best in the area. Our meeting was on a Wednesday afternoon. We agreed that he would have an estimate to me the following Friday. That gave him 6 full business days. Come Friday, I had heard nothing from him. The next Monday I called and left a voice mail. Come Wednesday still nothing so I called and left a message for his sales supervisor. The following day I received a call from the salesman, he apologized for the delay and said he would have the estimate to me by the end of the week. I still have not heard from him. While this company did great work for my friend, and I am sure many other people, this deal was never to be. No hard feelings, I just moved on and they lost the job.

This is a great company. They were fast, friendly and did a great job. They were very competitive with 2 other bids I received and provided a better product. Dave was our sales person and he didn't badmouth the competition nor speak down to me. He can talk a lot, which was a bit exhausting for my husband who'd had a long day. But he knew his stuff and the company delivered on his promises. Garland did the install. Very professional, polite, and put booties on every time he came in the house - even after I said it wasn't necessary. Totally cleaned up. He was wonderful. The company will also be installing a gas line out to the garage, after the city replaces our meter. Nathan, from Standard Heating, did the review of our current system and gave us a fair bid and contacted the city for us. It has all been very efficient and a great experience. I highly recommend these guys.

Not sure when heater was last checked. Smelled gas. Arrived when they were supposed to, found gas leak and adjusted gas line, did routine checks on furnace. Informed me of current code. No problems, no surprises, knew what he was doing and did it without difficulty.

They were very thorough, prompt, and courteous -- from the estimate all the way through the completion of the work. The only hitch was that they discovered what they suspected was asbestos, so they charged an extra $200 to have asbestos abatement work done. That work caused a delay in the completion of the project by about 1 week.

They came to install the new Furnace,A/C & Heat pump and realized that the salesman had sold us equipment that was too small for what we needed. They called and had the larger equipment sent out and installed it at no extra cost. I thought they really went above and beyond. They were cooperative, efficient, and informative. They did a fabulous job!

The technician called 15 minutes before he arrived, during our morning time slot. The work was performed quickly. I just wish the technician would have given me a few more suggestions on how to keep our A/C running efficiently, since the work was very quickly.

They were very helpful and they did the job very good. I was very comfortable with them in my house. They didn't make a big mess when they were working.

My experience with them was very good. The approach that the sales person took was very honest. They weren't pushy. They were full of good facts. The team of people that came to install were very trustworthy. They got it done in a timely manner. They got here on time and they were very neat.

It went great. They did exactly what they said they would do and did it in a timely manner. The cost was around all of the other quotes as well. The work was good quality.

I was very happy with everyone we dealt with from Sales Rep. to the Installers to Service. Their bid was a bit above the lowest of the three bids I requested, but their Sales Rep, financing options, and them taking care of the rebate paperwork were all items in their favor. Mike, the Sales Rep seemed to be less "salesman-like" and more interested in guiding me toward a system that best fit my needs. He did the heat loss calculations and his bid was well itemized. He knew his product and was the only one of the three bidders that could tell me if the fan motor was electronically commutated. I still would have liked better information regarding exactly what I was getting, however. The cut sheets and furnace web site are too general to really know. This would have been a bigger issue in deciding which system to go with had it not been for the fact that I read from a Consumer Reports review that a company's reputation, the installation and service are far more important than which system one gets. Jeff, the primary installer was an incredibly hard worker. He always seemed to be going full out, yet he was courteous, answered my questions, and didn't seem to mind explaining each step as he worked. The new refrigeration line installation required cutting some holes in an existing ceiling, and Jeff did a good job reviewing this with me before he started to cut. Everything was finished up in one day, fitted in the same space as the old equipment and looks great. The only place Jeff could have been more helpful was at the end of the install. I received all the owner's manuals, but the blanks provided on these for Model numbers and Serial numbers were not filled in, and he did not seem to know where to find some of this information. Tyron, the pipe fitter, did a great job of routing the pipes in the best location, and discussed where they should go with me before he started cutting holes. My only complaint here was the large amount of putty around the air intake and exhaust pipes on the outside of the building. Yes, of course I would rather have the putty than a leak, but could a bit less have worked? (Same comment could also be made about the electrical and refrigeration lines). The electrical sub contractor, SPARKS, was fast, efficient and in and out quickly. They also installed the thermostat, and set it up to start cooling as soon as they were done. A few days after the system was installed the thermostat failed and we scheduled a quick service call. They (Standard) came out first thing in the morning as scheduled. The first truck did not have the part they needed to complete the repair but they worked around my schedule to have a second truck come out to finish the job that same morning.

Tech called 30 minutes before arriving as requested. In driveway when I got home from work. Reviewed system inside and outside from top to bottom. Determined bad thermostat was issue. Gave me the choice of having him install or do it my self. Gave good tips for improving efficiency - type of filter, fan settings, etc. Declined to accept my modest gratuity for a job well done.

He unplugged the drain hose and then proceeded to do a complete maintenance check on both the inside and outside unit. As he didn't need any special equipment to fix the issue, he only charged the standard service fee.

I called on a Thursday and they were able to schedule me for the following Monday. The technician came at the prescribed time and quickly performed the work requested. The technician provided honest answers regarding maintenance I thought should be performed but he thought was unnecessary. I would definitely use this service again.

Once we made the first phone call to Standard the whole experience was great. Everyone was professional, honest, polite, thorough and NOT PUSHY.

He came out and diagnosed the problem and it seemed correct. After his work the issue seems resolved, however based on the age of the unit they recommended that I replace the system. They offered me a discount taking into account the cost of the services that they had already performed. While they were working they were very clean, covering their shoes. I was very pleased and would recommend them to anyone.
