+ -1 moreI came back from vacation to sub-zero temperatures and no heat. The furnace was not working and it was 30 degrees in the house and some liquids had already frozen (thankfully not the water pipes). My regular company was responsive but had no technicians available so I found Standard on Angie's List. The person handling emergency calls was very helpful. The technician called me back within the hour and agreed to come out. He was very honest that he couldn't give me an ETA because he was on other emergency calls, but, he arrived within three hours. He identified and fixed the problem within an hour and all was good. The technician was helpful and friendly, and, explained what was going on. I am impressed with Luke, the technician, and this company.
Description of Work: Identified that the furnace blower motor was out and repaired it.

Description of Work: Standard Heating installed and maintains both our furnace and central air conditioning. Especially because our furnace is older, we use Standard's prepaid tune-up service. They check our central AC before and during each summer and our furnace before and during each winter.

Description of Work: They installed an HVAC system in 1997 and ever since then I’ve used them for any Heating and Air Conditioning services needed. I currently have an on-going contract with them that I pay for monthly. They come out three times a year: twice to check my heating system twice and once to check my air conditioning system.

+ -1 moreThe service has been pretty good. They?ve always been good with following up and coming back when needed. Generally, they?ve been accurate with their diagnoses and have been great to work with overall! Although this incident left me with a funny story to tell about $99 mouse (cost of service call). I would like to add that they installed our furnace in 1999 and have given us quick and reliable service for the past 14 years. The first 3 of which were under warranty.
Description of Work: I heard a loud banging noise coming from the basement at 9 ‘o clock at night so I went down to see what was going on. The furnace was causing the noise, so I called them right away. They advised me to turn the furnace off and told me that a service call would be $100 more if they came out now versus in the morning. They showed up first thing in the morning, and when the technician flipped the furnace on, it was running without problems. When he opened the furnace, he found a mouse that caused the off-balance and noise.

+ -1 moreWe thought that our Aprilaire furnace humidifer wasn't working. David H from Standard Heating came out and determined that water was getting into the humidifier, but the pad itself was too full of hard water deposits to let any water through. It took maybe 10 minutes at the most from start to finish for him to remove the old pad, clean out the area, and put in a new pad. I appreciated that he was careful to put carpet-protector booties over his shoes each time he came in and out of the house.

One of my boilers was actually shut down, so Standard moved some appointments around so they could get out to my house the next day to install one of the new boilers. So I was only without heat for about a day. They also offered to provide me with space heaters in the interim. They came out early the next day and got my new boiler installed and my heat running again. We scheduled the 2nd boiler for about a week out, since it wasn't as urgent. The team came on time and got the work done when they said they would. And I had HEAT!
Description of Work: I had to have both boilers replaced in my 1920's duplex. Yes, I know - quite the expense. I had two different companies bid for the job. Robin from Standard was very professional and upfront about everything that would need to be done. He was thorough in looking at all areas of the basement that would be affected - electrical, water drain, window where fresh air duct would have to be installed, etc. All of the individuals who worked in my home were friendly and professional, arrived promptly and completed the work when they said they would. As painful as it was to have this type of expense, I really feel that I got great quality work done at a fair price. I would definitely recommend Standard Heating if you need to have hot water heating work done. Robin has a lot of experience and really seems to enjoy working in this field, and with homeowners.

I did, and within 3 weeks I had a new furnace installed. Chris and Rich were professional, patient responding to my questions and were conscientious in protecting the floors and keeping everything clean. They were meticulous in their work.

+ -1 moreI use standard to do check ups and tune up on a furnace and central air unit I bought from them a few years ago. They are always timely and friendly. They are also very professional and accountable. They are very fair priced and do not high pressure sell you. They give you a lot of information to help you make your decision. I completely trust them. They removed and disposed of my old furnace and did an excellent job at clean up. There was not one trace of them being here other that a brand new furnace and an outdoor central air unit. My electric bill was less this summer and the whole house was cool versus one room with a wall unit. I am also paying less for my heating bill. Worth every penny and truly believe I will get my money back by saving on electric and heating bills.

+ -1 moreThere was an issues with gas not being turned back on to the dryer after the repair was completed and this made me wonder how he could have tested his work. When I contacted the service manager regarding this issue, he suggested that someone living in my house must turned off the gas after the technician left.
Description of Work: I had a leaking elbow joint repaired and a leaking hose from the main line to the dryer repaired as well.

+ -1 moreFrom our initial call to completion the service call went well and quickly even at 2am. Our tech was very freindly and informative through the entire repair. I never felt pressured into any sales pitch like a service plan like i have with other companies.
Description of Work: We came home late one night to a broken furnance. After searching Angies list for after hour work we went with Standard. They were very fast to arrive and the tech was very helpfull. He tried multiple fixes before having to replace an expensive part. Becuase of his knowledge of the area and Mac updates he was well prepared for all issues. The issue is common with a the furnance Mac used for homes getting sound proofing. But due to the cost of the part it is something they normally do not carry with them. We will stay with Standard for any future work.

+ -1 moreGot home, found that the furnace wasn't running and it was only 61 degrees. I checked Angie's List, called Standard Heating and Air Conditioning, and they had a technician here in 15 or 20 minutes. (I thought I'd have to wait half the night for an emergency repair.) The technician checked the furnace and determined that the ignitor was cracked, and that it was a $200 part. He replaced the part and turned the furnace back on, and it worked perfectly. Apparently, the ignitor should have been replaced as a regular maintenance item after 10 years, which I probably would have found out if I had been getting regular yearly tuneups.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and replaced a faulty ignitor module on my furnace.

+ -1 moreAttention all old furnance owners - get your system cleaned on a regular basis! Our problem could have been avoided. It was a dirty sensor. He fixed the problem quickly. The sales person gave us a bid on a new system as well.
Description of Work: Our very old furnance was working but not really working right. It was not heating past 67 degrees. I called on Monday night and the service person was able to come to the house by about noon on Tuesday. I was a minor problem but he also recommended we think about replacing the system. He scheduled a sales person for me to come on Thursday to giveus a bid.
