Our furnace was making a rattling noise so called to have it looked at. Was told that the motor was going out. Said that because we didn't get the furnace maintenance done on it every year the condensation build up ruined the motor. He ordered the part came back two days later and replaced it and not everything is working fine.

The dispatcher was very courteous and customer-focused. The repairman as punctual and professional.

After assessing our HVAC, the service technician said the heating vent was too close to the door and all of the heat was escaping from the bedroom. The tech gave us an estimate of $348 add another vent on the other side of the bedroom. We did not go ahead with the work and decided to research more on what we could do ourselves. We ended up covering his windows with plastic and closing the damper to bathroom which is right next to his bedroom. His room is much warmer now!

The technicial determined that our defective furnace was involved in a class action law suit so he ordered the necessary parts to replace the faulty parts. The job took a couple of days to complete.

We received a quote but ended up going with another bidder who was significantly cheaper for a new furnace and a/c.

Called and scheduled the tune-up for about two weeks later. Technician showed up promptly and did a great job checking out the furnace. They even followed up with a form which we could submit for a rebate to the gas company.

Our furnace was not working and of course it was on the weekend ... we called Standard and they were out to diagnose problem within 24 hours. We had to replace blower on our 7 year old Carrier furnace. We checked around and Standard gave us a very competitive quote and finished the work on time and on budget. Customer Service and Service Technician were very professional and they said what they were going to do and they did what they said so it is All good!

Furnance stopped working on a Friday evening. Called and they sent a technician to the house. He did not have the proper part but was able to get the furnace running until ordered parts arrived and were installed. Everyone involved was professional and well trained.

The tests I performed on the damper motor indicated clearly that it was inoperative and probably was the cause of our heating problem. The damper that they replaced was left behind at my request and my examination of it convinced me it was perfectly functional and did not need replacement (it was only 4 1/2 years old). The limit switch, which they also left behind, I had no way of testing, so I can't judge whether it needed replacement. My conclusion is that they took advantage of me by claiming that the damper needed replacement. I have avoided using their service and never would again.

I had been planning to call Standard for a pre-season checkup on the A/C, when this Angies List deal came up. It was a great deal and the company I would have called anyway. Standard installed our furnace and A/C in 2008, and I have the highest regard for their work, and all employees that I have had contact with are courteous and professional.

Mostly poorly. They told us we needed to replace our furnace and turned it off, claiming that there was a hole in one of the cells and CO poisoning was a possibility. We got second and third opinions, and neither of the other companies agreed. There was no CO leaking, and no hole, just a rust-spot. We got our necessary inspection passed by a different company. I don't know if it was an honest mistake, or an attempt to leverage a TISH deadline to make a sale, but it ended up costing me more money to get second and third opinions.

The two technicians that came out to do the install of the new high-efficiency unit did a great job; very friendly, and left the basement cleaner than when they started--boot covers, floor mats, etc. throughout the house to make sure they didn't scuff any floors, swept the floor downstairs after they were done, etc. The new system works great; we would definitely recommend them if you're in the market for a new unit or simply need someone to perform service on an existing one.

Seth called and stated that he would be at the house in 15 minutes. He arrived on time and was very professional. He wore shoe covers inside the house and quickly diagnosed the problem. My husband was at work at the time and Seth was very patient while I called my husband so that my husband could be up to date with what was going on. Seth was very thorough in his explanation of what work needed to be done and told us how much it would cost. We had a 4 month old and decided that we wanted the problem to be fixed. Seth fixed it and the heat came on. Seth also gave me an overview of a few things we needed to do to make our furnance up to code. He was very nice and said if we had any further questions or problems, we could call and ask for him.

I had many questions regarding the purchase and install of a new humidifier. Everyone I spoke to was knowledgeable and professional. I had many questions and I'm fairly certain that everyone in the office was tired of hearing from me! Summer did a wonderful job explaining and setting up/scheduling the process. Thor was excellent in explaining the installation, and then the work he completed was excellent as well. He cleaned up the area after the installation was finished. I could not have asked for more. I would certainly use Standard again for any future jobs.

Furnace was not heating effectively and eventually stopped turning on. House was freezing cold. Came out to diagnose, cleaned a sensor and gave lots of good advice on why the issue was happening, which brands of filters to use in the future, how it wouldn't affect our bills, and answered other questions about the furnace and its viability. Repairman seemed very knowledgeable. Furnace works great now. Angie's list coupon for $25 helped keep cost down. I would have been happy to pay $50 for someone to talk me through the troubleshooting and fix over the phone -- I could probably have done it myself if I'd known, and no one would have needed to come to my house. But, that service probably doesn't exist. And, I got all my questions answered quickly because he could look at the unit himself. So, the price seems fair for what I got (which is a "C" according to the rating scale).

Technician was professional and helpful, and even though we had an issue he was not properly equipped or licensed to resolve, he helped us get the right contractor in to resolve the problem.

It was easy to get an appointment. They did the work as stated within the deal. They did a good job.

Our furnace has worked amazingly through all the cold weather! Utility costs are lower than anticipated. We also are thrilled with our new air conditioner. Standard Heating and Air Conditioning was one of two other A rated companies we received quotes from on Angies List. Mike M. was the sales representative who came out to our house and led my wife and I through a thorough explanation of what we were purchasing. Mike conducted a Manual J Calculation for our home with laser measurements (be sure you always have a contractor perform a Manual J). He also checked that all our existing duct work was properly installed and appropriate for each space in our house. He even adjusted dampers on ducts to allow for better circulation. No other contractor came close to the high level of professionalism and courtesy that we saw from Mike in the sales visit. When we asked about a humidifier, Mike said wait to see if you need it this winter. So far we don't and that recommendation saved us $500. Standard (Mike) was the only contractor who didn't talk down about fellow competitors. This was a sign to me that they are confident with their work and don't need to pad their reputation artificially. Though Standard was slightly more expensive than the other contractors (it wasn't too much more), I felt at the time and know now that quality is worth paying for. Having an experienced and trustworthy contractor is the most important part of buying a new furnace and air conditioner. These units must be installed properly to factory specifications. Standard adheres to strict guidelines set by the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis (even if they are doing work in the suburbs). Contractors that only work in the suburbs don't have to have the same level of training. We purchased a York high efficiency variable speed furnace paired with a high efficiency air conditioner. York is a highly innovative company and appears to be on the technological edge in the industry. (Mike did offer us a Bryant product as well and let us decide. He didn't push either and helped identify the pros and cons of each.) Mike filled out the paper work for our utility rebate forms. On the day of installation, I was amazed with friendly, punctual service. Standard scheduled all the work carefully so all three service technicians showed up close together which allowed for efficient coordination. The work was finished in only 4 fours. The installation team answered all my questions about operation and maintenance. They even took extra care to clean up at the end. As I said at the beginning, the furnace is extremely quiet. It heats our house evenly and maintains the temperature with very long cycles. The air conditioner is great too (though with it being close to the end of summer we didn't use it that much) We are looking forward to using it much more this Summer. I didn't write a review initially because I wanted to see how our furnace really performed in below zero temperatures. I am extremely pleased and would recommend Standard Heating and Air Conditioning to anyone who appreciates a high quality product and the value in paying for it. Ask for Mike M to come out and give you a quote. You won't regret it! PS- Just last week, we received notification from Standard that our 2012 purchase may now qualify for a tax credit due to recent legislation. I was very impressed that they were on top of this and quick to inform their customers. All the paper work needed to file was included!

They are very good, and give you good advice. They don?t do extra work. They do what is necessary but don?t try to pawn of other jobs on you. They don?t try to make you get something that you don?t need.

I do not think you can get anyone better than these guys. All of the workers I have been very knowledgeable.

This worked out just fine. They did everything they said they were going to do.

Our furnace was not responding to the thermostat settings. SH and AC sent someone within a few hours of our call and fixed the problem at a reasonable cost.

The folks at Standard were very professional and timely. Everything was cleaned up nicely when they left and we have had much lower energy bills. The only thing they might was to do is tell the owners a little bit more about the furnace filters because it is very different and more expensive than the old ones.

They were very courteous on the phone for scheduling. They arrived on time and clearly defined what was going to be done and how. They did a nice, clean job and explained everything to me at the end. I am pleased with the work and have no questions. I am thrilled with how smoothly everything went.
