He was punctual, informative, nice, low pressure, and thorough.
Description of Work: He checked out our hvac unit to see if it fit the size of our newly increased sized home. He was very nice, very low pressure, super informative. I would absolutely consider using them. The cost we were quoted on a unit was rather high, but his service and approach were much appreciated!

Standard Hearing & Air has been the primary service provider in my home for 9.5 years for the furnace and A/C and I even bought a new A/C unit (York brand) from them five years ago. Their service, promptness and professionalism is top notch. Calling them on the phone is always professional and polite, whether to make an appointment (like when there was no heat in February, kinda important), ask questions, or to renew my yearly service contract for preventative maintenance. The technicians visiting the house have always been super helpful and polite, too. I give this company my full recommendation and would never think of using anyone else (once, on a whim, I learned my lesson and I tried another company else due to friend of a friend referral and I regretted it). Standard Hearing & Air has Fantastic customer service!
Description of Work: The furnace was not making any heat so a technician came out and repaired it to "good as new" status. Turns out there was a dirty flame sensor and it was cleaned.

David did a complete inspection and tune-up of my furnace and central air conditioner. He arrived on time and quickly completed the work requested, making sure that my furnace and air conditioner and are working efficiently and safely. He was extremely helpful in answering all my questions. I will definitely call on Standard Heating and Air Conditioning again in the future.

Standard was recommended by a friend. The guy on the phone was pleasant. He told me Chris or Elliott would be the ones to perform service. They were able to come to my home two days faster than another company could manage. Elliott found a couple issues with my A/C... a couple of which were pretty easy fixes. I was pretty impressed with the serviceman. even though he had several customers after me (and it was mid-afternoon at that point) I felt i was getting the proper attention for my service needs. I even had him install a programmable thermostat. (He was able to do that while we were waiting for the home warranty folks to answer the phone.) Would def use them again. (Also liked that I was able to get a discount using Angie's List!) Tks! luci

Superior service! Standard sent Nathan, who couldn't have been more helpful. My heating and cooling system has an odd configuration--Nathan took the time to understand how it worked, and then worked to troubleshoot the thermostat installation. After finishing the installation, Nathan wanted to make absolutely sure things were working properly, so he spent extra time testing the system. Over the next few days, he followed up with me multiple times with tips and ideas, even visiting the manufacturer of one of my HVAC parts to better understand how it works. The thermostat now works great!

Had Standard out to inspect our condo's forced air heating system ? the prior owners had also used Standard and we decided to give them a try. The tech arrived on time and worked quickly and professionally. He gave us some great advice on the best filters to use and some other small things we could do to keep our furnace in good shape and not put too much strain on it. We'd been thinking about getting some sort of humidifier system installed and asked about it. He had some great insights that ultimately dissuaded us from getting one. The service itself was excellent but especially with all the added advice and tips we felt like we got a lot for our money.

Burk Fyksen was very pleasant to work with, punctual and affable. He was very straightforward about our situation, telling us that we did not need a new unit and recommending some people who might be good for fixing the electrical problem with the old one. No pressure and no sales pitch; we felt that he was really trying to find the best solution for the customer. If all the crew at Standard are this trustworthy, we would certainly call them again.

The sales person was excellent, the installation was highly professional, the price was extremely competitive. Our problem was after we had Standard Heating out to "Tune" the AC" system in 2004. We paid $98 dollars for the service and after 2 Air Conditioning seasons, the Air Conditioner quit working. We called Standard Heating out on June 5, 2007. Troy showed up and charged us $99 for service call and $289 for a leak check. After tearing apart the furnace, he stuck his tester up in the furnace and announced you have a "A Coil" leak and it would cost us $1332 to replace it. He put more coolant into the AC system and warned me that this was very temporary and would not last. We needed to replace the A Coil for a permanent fix. Something about Troy's demeanor caused me to be suspicious. I called Alliant Mechanical for a second opinion. They told me an A Coil replacement would cost around $600. On June 20, 2007 Alliant's technician, Mike arrived and I paid him $110 for a service call. He did a leak search and used 2 different testers - he found no leaks. The "temporary" coolant charge that Troy, the Standard Heating technician, said was a short term fix? It lasted through the 2013 system. I have been told that Standard Heating pays a commission to workers for repair work. I cannot confirm this but it seems to fit. Since this "Saga" spread over 2 years and I have no direct proof, I have not approached Standard. Between the service calls and the high AC bills we experienced as the coolent-starved system struggled to keep up - I suspect this issue cost us over $1000. This has destroyed my trust in Standard Heating and I would warn people to be on their guard. It is now time to replace our 15 year old Bryant System. Standard will not be on the list of dealers we will consider.

I signed up for their maintenance plan and have had mixed results on that plan. The service techs are always professional and courteous, arriving on time and answering my questions. However, after their last maintenance visit (a furnace tune-up), I had to call them back because on a very cold winter day, my furnace wouldn't heat up the house warm enough. The unit would kick on, but then stop, seemingly for no known reason. Eventually the temperature within the house began to fall into the 50's, at which point I became increasingly concerned. When I called for service, they told me they'd be out, but given that it was a weekend and they had numerous service calls, it would be a few hours. When the service tech arrived, he explained that something had become clogged in the drainage pipe. He admitted this probably happened during the prior tune-up visit. So while he did come out and fix things, and he did not charge me, I'm just a bit concerned to use them again as it seems the prior tech may not have done his job as effectively as he should have. I'd recommend this vendor, but due to my last issue, would have some reservations.
Description of Work: I've used this provider to perform general tune-ups and maintenance on my air conditioner and furnace, even having them replace a thermostat unit that was aging.

Went well. They provided competitive estimate for furnace replacement when mine died and it was almost -35 outside. Techs were on time and were very friendly to work with especially Mesha. Diligently performed all the work for instaling 95% efficiency furnance as a replacement for 80% efficient furnace. they had pull additional pipes to vent out and managed to find a way out by engaging me in deciding on options.

They've done a lot of services for me and I preferred not to use the "Big Deal" coupon because I realized that I had a better deal with their tune-up program. They're responsive and they address any concerns to my advantage. If things don't go exactly as I wanted, they're willing to come back and do whatever they need to do to correct the problem.

We set an appointment to receive an estimate for ductless A/C installation. Upon arrival, the salesperson immediately stated that ductless wasn't a good fit for our home and attempted to up-sell us on a custom fan coil system. He did not provide an estimate at all, neither on the spot or later via email as we have with all other companies. We were simply looking for a reasonably priced A/C option for our 1 1/2 story craftsman bungalow with hot water heat.

It could not have gone any smoother. From the first time I called to make an appointment to the last handshake goodbye. If hiring a contractor was this easy I'd live in the Taj Mahal. Friendly customer service, Professional installers and they did everything they said they would do - On time and within budget. No surprises! When they said they would show up at a certain time, they were there a few minutes early each day. They explained the process on what they were doing, how long it would take and gave me a tour of the end result. We discussed potential problems before hand which never occurred because of their skill and experience. They even schooled me on working the new thermostat - which I've since forgot. But hey, they left the instruction manual. I had all the confidence in Standard Heating & Air Conditioning. Now, if it would just warm up so I can put their great work to use.

The furnace produced a burning smell a couple tmes so I called Standard Heating for an inspection. The smell was from a belt on the fan. The bad news was the motor was no longer in production on my 25 year old furnace. The furnace also had a few cracks. I decided to replace the furnace to avoid a prolonged with no heat if the motor went out. The sales man was professional, learned what I wanted and did not try to up-sell me. He sized the house rather than just replace the BTUs on the current furnace that saved money. The installation was very professional - no mess, no noise.

Two completely different experiences: The first service call was a great experience. When the service technician arrived he restarted the furnace and it ran fine. Instead of just leaving he tuned the furnace and waited to see if it would continue to run. He waited for quite awhile, probably and hour and the furnace continued to run and he could not find anything wrong with it. Just as he was leaving it stopped running, he stayed and fixed that problem (I honestly cannot remember what it was now). The second service call was on New Year's Eve, at a rental property. When I called the on-call technician he tried to talk me out of servicing the furnace. I understand that it was New Year's Eve, trust me I didn't want to be there either, however, it was extremely cold and I didn't want further damage, freezing pipes etc (let alone that people were living there). I told the technician to make sure he called me before he got there (15-20 min) because I do not live there and I was going to a 24 hour store to pick up fuses having blown one heating the home with an electric heater. He apparently called, I did not hear the phone in the store but he did not leave a message. Apparently, according to my renters he came in and pushed the reset switch on the furnace and went out and sat in his truck. Where he must have been calling me from the second time. He insisted that I pay him with a credit card over the phone because he did not want to wait for me to get there. I indicated that would not be happening because I at least wanted to know what he did. When I arrived he showed me how to push the furnace reset button. He did not know why the furnace was not running but it was "old and needs to be replaced". Of course it just stopped running again that night. The next morning I called my dad who did HVAC 25 yrs ago and I asked if he had any ideas. He told me it sounded like the drain line was plugged (there was water in the fan that I could hear). I blew into the drain line and a bunch of crusty rust and water came out, the line was plugged, that was all. My dad told me that's what they checked first 25 yrs ago. Of course the fan did have to be replaced having had water in it but the furnace worked perfectly the rest of the long, cold winter. I guess the guy that came out doesn't have to work for a living like I do, he didn't want to be there so he didn't do his job. It cost me $150 for him to push the reset button and be rude to me.I had a different company replace the fan.
Description of Work: I actually used this company twice. The first was for my home, my furnace shut off. The second was for a rental property, again that furnace was not running.

The service visit was professionally done. If I had done my homework, I probably would find that $300 for a leak check is a nominal fee. At the time I was a bit shocked. David probably could see that in my expression. Not likely the first customer who turned a bit pale. David is to be commended for his promptness, knowledge and professionalism.
Description of Work: Weather delayed first appointment. David showed up on time for the rescheduled appointment and was very professional. Walked me through everything. Noted that no coolant left in system. In order to diagnose the issue, he offered a leak check and advised me that a leak check alone is $300. I do not know if that is a standard rate, and I was a bit surprised. However, that said, David did the leak check, found a cracked fitting and repaired it and recharged the system and tested it. No further issues.
