 + 0 moreOverall, this job just came out okay. I probably would not use this company agian, simply becuase I believe when I hire someone for a simple repair, I feel as though the work should be taken care of, without as much babysitting as was required by me. The subcontractor was terribly unproffessional, sloppy, and was going to leave my house looking worse than it did before the job was started. If I had not complained, he would have left his crappy workmanship and washed his hands of the entire job, which I think is shameful.
Description of Work: We had some bubbling and chipping plaster in an interior hallway in our 1926 Minneapolis home. Owner Matt was thorough and professional, however, his subcontractor was not. Day one, subcontractor was pleasant , but made several unproffesional remarks, such as commenting on how much money people make off of little jobs like ours, etc. The subcontractor also admitted that he did not really care for drywall repair, and that he was just a painter. He then proceeded to do a TERRIBLE drywall repair . I though that perhaps it looked bad becuase maybe it just needed another coat. Nope! Came and painted it the next day. I called Matt and complained about the wokmanship, which Matt came and fixed the drywall himself. The same subcontractor came to sand and repaint the hallway. Again, several unprofessional comments came from him, such as "This is why you have the professionals take care of things!" Ummm.... Hello? That's what I thought I was getting when you came to do the job the first time. We talked about the fact that the entire wall needed to be repainted in order to avoid the paint flashing. He mentioned that he did this as he was leaving. He DID NOT. After the hallway dried it became very obvious he only painted the areas that had been redrywalled, not the entire wall as we discussed. He also didn't clean up after himself very well, using only paper towels to get paint off the floor. I ended up scraping up some drops. He didn't remove anything from the walls, only painting around things. I have a feeling if I had left the pictures on the walls they would have been painted around as well.

 + -1 moreMy wife left a message and a phone number about our need to have a bedroom ceiling replaced. 5 days later, we have had no call back or any communication from McCloskey's. I finally called on the 6th day and I couldn't leave a message because their voice mailbox system was full. Makes me wonder if they are still in business? If they have gone on vacation, I would expect them to leave a message to that effect, even if they are a small From the reviews I read on Angie's list, they seemed like a good choice for the small job I have. It's disappointing that they didn't return my (or my wife's) call. I'll use someone else for my project. **Update** Matt finally did get in touch with us and explained why there was a delay in his response. Although we haven't used his services yet, he did come out as scheduled and provided us with a quote as promised.

 + 1 moreWe had a major plumbing renovation that led to 3 floors of our home needing new drywall, plaster and paint (walls and ceilings). Everyone showed up when they said they would and did a great job. Literally 10 minutes after the taper/mudder/sander left the painter walked in. A truly great experience!!!

 + -1 moreMatt provided what I think was a very reasonable bid and the workers showed up right on time and ready to work. This occurred over four days (tape, mud, dry, texture, dry, paint) and they were always on time. The workers were friendly, informative, and very professional. Matt was easy to reach when I had a question.The end result looks terrific; you can't tell that there were every any holes in the ceiling. They cleaned up after themselves and let me know that if there were any problems, just to call them back.I would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: I had gas and plumbing lines run for my main level living area. The plumbers had to cut holes in the finished lower level ceiling to run the lines. I hired McClosky to patch, sand, apply knockdown texture and paint the areas. There were about a dozen holes to cover.

Description of Work: Drywalled exposed soffits in kitchen, and plaster skim coated the rest of the walls for an even finish.

 + -1 moreThese guys did a fantastic job. I could not be happier with the outcome. They started exactly when Matt said they would and final price was exactly what Matt quoted. Every day when I came home from work my house was cleaned up and free of dust an debris. The crews always showed up in the morning exactly when they told me they would arrive. The quality of the work is extremely good. I truly could not be happier with the project. I will use McCloskey drywall again when I remodel my kitchen and bathroom.
Description of Work: McCloskey Drywall sheet rocked and finished my entire first floor after I removed the Cedar from interior walls. They also scraped my popcorn ceings and finished my ceilings to a smooth finish.

At first they couldn't fit me in but when my schedule changed Matt set up an appointment for an estimate on Monday and penciled me in for work the next day, pending acceptance of the bid. They started work on Tuesday (demo and hanging drywall), returned Thursday (mud/tape and matched the existing textured walls) and finished Friday (painted the ceiling).
Description of Work: Removed water damaged ceiling, installed new drywall and painted new ceiling.

In-home estimate was provided in a timely manner and work began on-time every day and was completed on schedule. All workers were professional, quiet, and easy to work with. The quality of work was excellent and we were very pleased with the results. They have been our best Angie's List service provider so far. We would use them again and recommend McCloskey Drywall to others.

Matt was always available to answer questions for us and his co-workers were friendly , hard-working and cleaned up well throughout the process. We had used another company previously for a different job and they did not clean up after themselves even though they claimed they had , McCloskey and Co. was a very welcome relief. They got the job done well and on time. I would highly reccomend them for both price and quality !!! .

As they got started, it was apparent that my do-it-yourself skills were not up to the task and Matt called me to let me know that there was some additional framing work necessary. I bit the bullet and figured that this change order would be expensive. Typical of working with an old house, there were some challenges but it only added half a day to the project time. When his crew finished, it was a super job. The walls are smooth and ready for paint. Everything is cleaned up, with no dust. I was very surprised that the extra work was about half of what I expected to pay. I am extremely pleased...Great service, excellent prices and a professional attitude. Thanks, Matt

 + -1 moreThey completed the job by Friday and were very well organized and clean. They started Monday afternoon by removing the old stuff and started to prep for taping. Tuesday they taped the whole room and skim coated the ceiling. Wednesday they let the room dry. Thursday morning they came back and put a finish coat on the whole room. Friday they came back again and sanded and textured the ceiling. They cleaned up every spec of dust and debris and a wonderful job overall. The room looks totally different and it was well worth the cost. I found McCloskey to have the best price and rapid availability. Matt (McCloskey) came over the day after I called him and gave me an on-the-spot estimate. He started work two weeks later. I would definitley recomment them for their professionalism, price and quality.
Description of Work: Part of our basement was very poorly finished by the previous homeowners. So we had McCloskey Drywall remove the old tape on the walls and ceiling (including corners) and then retape the joints, skim coat the ceiling, and texture the ceiling with knockdown. I removed all the trim and the light fixtures and the room was completely empty. It's about a 400 square foot space.

 + -1 moreAfter a bad experience with another drywall company we called three different companies from Angie's List. Matt McCloskey returned our call the same day. We explained our situation: all furniture/light fixtures had been removed and the person we hired to remove the popcorn ceiling texture did not show up to do the work. Matt gave us a quote over the phone and sent workers out the very next day. The job took five days (done consecutively). They were extremely professional, prompt, friendly, and pricing was fair. Our ceilings are beautiful. When they were finished they cleaned everything and made sure we were happy with the results. We would hire them again.
