In September of this year I was drove up to my cabin and discovered that I had a major waster problem. John Loyear, president of Loyear Disaster Restoration, was the individual who came out to cabin in a very timely manner. John quickly assesed the situation and provided me with options and recommendations on how to address the water problem. John provided a reasonable solution and pricing on the spot. After I agreed to his proposal, John immediatly called in his team to my cabin so the damage could be controlled which eliminated additional damage. Not only did John help with my water problem but he was also very helpful in working with me concerning my insurance coverage. I have never had to address a problem like this before and John's professionalism and knowledge helped me through this most difficult situation. I would highly recommend Loyear Disaster Restoration and would definitely use them in the future.

I called Loyear when my son noticed water dripping from the ceiling in the family room. We didn't know where the water was coming from so I had them come out to investigate. They were very thorough, checking everything with meters. The technician discovered that the toilet was leaking on the second floor and water was running down through a closet on our main level then into the family room in the basement. The technician (I think his name was Bill) was able to shut off the water to the toilet stopping the leak. Once the extent of the damage was discovered he set up professional fans and dehumidifiers to dry the bathroom floor and under the cabinet, the walls and floor in the closet and the family room ceiling and a wet spot on the carpet. They had everything cleaned up and back to new in no time.

What a great experience and the whole team was a pleasure to work with in a time of crisis....PROMPT, Professional, Go the extra mile, Personal. I called Loyear Restoration recently when I woke up to the sound of running water and discovered my Family Room was f looded and my carpet was soaking wet. Panic with getting girls ready for school and staying off the carpet, as well as the dog! Called a plumber and explained what was happening and instantly suggested calling Loyear. Checked Angie's list and they had such great reviews I decided to call them. People are right, they come out in about an hour (right after the plumber) and they started vacuuming up the water and then set up large fans and dehumidifiers. They checked on the drying everyday and had the baseboard back on, the carpet r einstalled and cleaned and everything back to as good as new in less than a week. I was VERY impressed with everyone from the woman who helped me on the phone to Sam who was very professional and at my house each day to make sure everything was being done perfectly. I have never had a pipe break before so I never needed to call anyone for something like this. I'm so glad I found Loyear's. I would definitely use them again, if I ever have another water disaster,I will instantly call Loyear Restoration as well as refer to friends and family. Making a bad situation a great experience. John came out on Thursday afternoon (9/24/15) to give me a quote; he called about an hour before the appointment to let me know he was running 15 minutes behind, and he showed up exactly when he had called to say he would. He checked the area in question and was even proactive -- he toured the house (both levels) to look at every door and window to look for mold, and determined that every window upstairs needed to be addressed. He also assured me that the mold was minimal and posed no health risk. So far -- very professional and assuring. When he gave me the quote, I told him I wanted to schedule someone to take care of it. He said he didn't have his appointment book, so someone would be giving me a call the next day and emailing me with the quote. Sure enough, someone did -- and booked Gary to come out on Monday, 9/28 at 8 am. The day of the appointment, at about 7:30 am, I got a call from someone at the office that my appointment would be pushed back to around 11 am because Gary had to finish an emergency job that started over the weekend. A little annoying at this point, but these things happen. It would have been so nice to be told over the weekend -- as opposed to half an hour before Gary was to arrive -- so that I could make scheduling changes. 11 am comes around, and no Gary. 11:15 am, I called the office. The woman I spoke with told me Gary was on his way. Gary arrived at 11:25 am and apologized for being late. These things happen. He was so nice -- he was very thorough about explaining to me what he'd be doing and how. I showed him all the windows and doors, and he got right down to work. It took him about 5.5 hours to do the work. I'm glad I was home to check it out, because I pointed out a couple of windows that he missed, and one where there still seemed to be some mold. He addressed it all. After he left, I saw that he forgot the windows above the kitchen sink, and that there were stains (they looked like rust) in my bedroom carpeting -- presumably from his HVAC filter. I cleaned the carpet. The next day, the stains reappeared -- so I called the office and spoke with Joanne, who so wonderfully apologized, and scheduled Gary to come out on Tuesday 10/6 at 10 am. In the meantime, I was able to remove the carpet stains after a few more attempts. Today is Tuesday 10/6; at 10:15 am, no Gary -- so I called the office and again spoke with Joanne. She apologized profusely and sincerely, and told me that Gary was out on vacation, and that she'd re-route someone else to take care of it today. I was very angry because of the lost time and inconvenience. Joanne hung in there and never lost her cool...she was very apologetic and empathetic/understanding -- no defensiveness at all. She had all sorts of ideas for how the techs could fix things for me (redo everything, have the carpet professionally cleaned, clean my kitchen :) -- I wasn't biting at any because they should have gotten everything done correctly, thoroughly, and neatly the first time. But her sincerity and calm were very disarming, so I quickly got over myself. Then she brought up giving me $100 as compensation -- and that seemed right, so I agreed to it. She told me she rerouted two really excellent guys from the Duluth office to come and finish my job and that they'd be here in 45 minutes. About an hour later, Sam from the St. Paul office arrived. He said the two guys from Duluth didn't want to drive to Maple Grove and so he came out to "clean my window" (he literally had a rag and Windex in his hand). I said, "Clean my window?" It turns out there was a misunderstanding somewhere along the line (he hadn't talked with Joanne prior to arriving) -- the two guys from Duluth told them that that was all that was necessary. Sam was responsive when I said I had wanted the same treatment (as the other windows/doors) done to the others -- however, he needed to go back to Bloomington to get supplies (translation: another interruption in my schedule). I said fine, and made arrangements with my mom to meet him to finish the work. Which he did, and he also brought the $100 check to refund me for part of the payment I made. I'd LOVE to say I'd use them again in the future -- I adored and am in awe of Joanne and how skilled she was with me on the phone...and I could tell that John was very knowledgeable, capable, and sincere...both were very earnest and assuring. However, there's a huge divide between their professionalism and their service technicians' service delivery. The reason I'm really h****** my review here is that I'm in business for myself and meet clients at my home office -- the time I spend with service providers at my house is time I've had to refrain from scheduling clients (therefore no revenue). What would it take for me to use them again? If John or Joanne were to come along for the service call. Or if I talked with three recent, random clients of theirs and they had great experiences. I feel for them and hope that my experience was either an extreme anomaly, or that their operational issues are easily corrected. (To be clear on the cost of this service: I paid the full $380 approximately, and they refunded me $100, so it cost me $280 at the end.)

I was looking at an investment property and it had some mold issues in the basement. John was able to meet me at the property the next day to inspect. John was very knowledgeable, professional and timely. After his inspection he was planning on writing up a quote for the cost of mold-remediation services. In addition to the mold issues, the property ended up having some structural issues as well, so I told John not to spend any time on the quote as I would not be purchasing this property after all. John was kind enough to just give me a verbal quote on what he thought it would cost to get rid of all the mold. I appreciated the information so I can continue to learn about costs as I look at additional investment properties. I will certainly use John again if I run across properties with potential mold issues.

We had a flood in our home that covered three rooms and a small hallway. The owner (John Loyear) of the company came out, surveyed the issue and quickly had a team of workers here to correct the problem. They removed the carpet squares that were glued down in the laundry room (no small task), removed the wet carpeting and pad in the other rooms that was starting to mildew and disposed of all the mess. The team then had to remove the baseboards where the water had gotten under the walls, drill holes in the walls in order to spray disinfectant inside which will prevent mold from growing inside the walls. Finally they installed fans and dehumidifiers throughout the area. After a few days of drying time, they came and removed the equipment and made certain that the areas were clean and livable. The work was performed quickly and we are 100% satisfied with the results. The work that they did was great but the best part of the entire experience was the people and the service. I'm a curious person (nosy busybody) and the team had no problems with me hovering around them and they happily answered all of my questions as to what they were doing and why. They also agreed to leave a large section of undamaged carpet in our living room (where our children played) until we were ready to get new flooring installed. After a month or so we were finally ready for new flooring (waiting on the insurance company) and they made a second trip out and removed the rest of the carpet at no additional charge. This kept our family from having a bare concrete slab in our living room for all those weeks. Everyone from John the owner, on down to the young man who was doing the grunt-work of carrying out mildewed carpet was so professional and polite. They exhibited the type of customer service that I doubt you would find in a national chain company and we highly recommend them. I told John that I hope I never have to see him again, but if we do have another disaster there is no doubt who we will be calling!

We began a master bathroom remodel and found we had mold under the shower. We called Loyear Disaster Restoration Services on a Thursday and they had someone out to do an estimate that Saturday. He had the quote back out to us by Monday, we called to schedule on Tuesday, and they had someone there on Wednesday, the next day. They responded quickly to our request and fit us in quickly to keep our remodel moving. I would recommend them to anyone who has mold issues.

Loyear was terrific. I called them the afternoon of the big storm in June. Every other team I tried had a 3 day wait, but Loyear was able to get a team on site the next day (even though they were clearly swamped with projects). The teams were always professional and efficient. They got our carpet up and the pad out (including moving some furniture) in less than two hours and then were back with professional grade drying equipment (that they brought in from Milwaukee) that night. They came back daily to check on the drying process and removed the equipment as soon as they were able to (about 3 days). The room dried out very well and there is no mold or any residual smell. The billing team also helped me consider an insurance claim that was approved. They kept costs below their estimate and were very easy to contact and talk with. I would definitely use Loyear again and would recommend them to a friend in need. (by the way, my insurance company had no concerns with the amount of the bill and approved it without question). If I had wanted, Loyear would have arranged for carpet install and any other mitigation services I needed, but the owner also told me that he felt I could get the work faster and cheaper elsewhere because of the timing of his subcontractors at that time. I definitely appreciate that honesty!
Description of Work: Water mitigation services for a flooded basement after the big rain/flood in June 2014. Our fully finished basement had flooding throughout the carpeted areas (about 600 sq ft). The carpet and pad were soaked/ruined and walls were slightly damp but did not mold or need replacing (I couldn't even tell they were wet but the meters read some moisture).

I am very disappointed with Loyear. They hardly spent time in my home when they were there. They ripped up the carpet and threw it out for me, placed fans and a dehumidifier in my basement. They did move quickly, but I feel too quickly. They didn't work well with schedule time to come to my house to take care of things. They would call me last minute to say someone is coming over to check on things, and I had to work. They laughed at me when I said I needed to schedule time, I can't just leave my job at last minute notice. And when they did come, and I had to leave work, which is not close to my home, they would only be there for 10 to 15 mins, checking the walls for moisture. They just did not accomodate to my needs very well. I'm a single mom who needs to work and can't just leave my job at a last minute notice. They charged me services that were not provided, such as they were suppose to clean my floor and they did not clean my floor. They charged me for a antibacterial machine that was not placed in my home. And they charged me a couple of other services that were not done. I have no carpet. I have glue residue and carpet fragments down in my basement. Its pretty depressing. They didn't check my walls very good for mold, however you can smell some musty smell downstairs. I am very very dissatisfied with their service. However, I will say, they guys were polite and nice, just in a rush to get things done, and didn't do the services that was billed to me.

I am so sorry to hear that you weren't happy with our service after the recent severe storm. We tried to do our best to get to everyone of our customers who called. I sent multiple person crews out to handle all of the work that had to be done in each home to speed things along as quickly as possible. So, I appreciate you saying we came quickly. Since water causes lots of damage the most important thing to be done in your home was to get as much water out as possible as quickly as possible; this included extracting water from your carpet and then removing your carpet because the water in your home was contaminated. The next step was to do a basic cleaning on your floors and spray a hospital grade disinfectant with enough dwell time to kill microorganisms, then we place fans and dehumidifiers and let them run to remove the excess water bound up in the wet materials in your home. Once this was accomplished we only need short periods of access to your home to take moisture readings to make sure the materials are drying out. These are the 10-15 minute appointments we had to make with you. We understood that you weren't always available when called on short notice, because of your work schedule, so we tried to accommodate you in the hectic schedule we had and skipped coming several times when you weren't available. We normally are able to make better arrangements. Unfortunately, when you are doing this type of work under the emergency conditions we worked under it made it very difficult to call way in advance, because we didn't know how long it will take to do the necessary work in each persons home. We also tried to stay within neighborhoods to take advantage of proximity to other customers when doing the work or checking moisture levels. I truly apologize if you thought we were making light of your concerns about our scheduling of our visits with you. It just so happened that when you called the office to express your need for more notice and then that was relayed to our crew, it turned out that they had “just” called you. When our office called you back to let you know that we had relayed the message about more notice and that we knew you had just been called anyway, we were sorry that it had happened again and kind of apologetically laughed about it and said we tried to give you more notice, but the call had already been made and you then you said you had agreed to meet with the technician, even so. When we came back to do take measurements in your home to create your invoice, we tried to make sure that we were creating an accurate estimate for the tasks that we had done in your home. I’m not sure what tasks you feel were not completed except the item you mention in your review as the “antimicrobial machine item”. To explain, this does not mean we put a special machine in your house, this is for sanitizing the drying equipment we used in your house, because the equipment was in a contaminated environment and we can’t bring it into another customer’s home until it is sanitized. We bill this to each customer whose home we work in where this is necessary, as the equipment has to be cleaning after finishing each job of this type. Also, this is something that your insurance company allows for, because it is a necessary part of contaminated jobs. We also do not usually scrape glue residue or stuck down threads from the concrete floor as this is an extra charge and it is something the flooring company does if they feel it is necessary. Normally they just go back over these things with new carpet pad, because it doesn't impact the new covering in any way.) I do not know from your note here is there is anything else you feel we didn't do but I just want to assure you that we will always return to do anything that you don’t feel was done to your 100% satisfaction at no additional charge. If there is anything else you feel wasn't done please let me review this with you. We are human and can make mistakes and want to correct anything that we did wrong. If you feel we charged for something we didn't do I certainly want to know about it because we will immediately remove this from your bill. I will call you to go over this with you at your convenience. Or you may call me at any time. I hope to speak to you soon and address all of your concerns personally. We had water in the basement. Called Loyear for an estimate, they came and gave us a estimate. We called another company for estimate too, the other company wants three times the estimate of Loyear gave us. We set up a date with Loyear to do the cleanup. They came cleaned up all the sewer backup, got done in 1 day, the price was the same as estimate price. We are very happy with the company, definitely use them again.

I had a failed sump pump during June major rainfall events. Water came into the floor of the finished part of the basement. Loyear restoration services (Joanne in the Duluth office) replied immediately to my Angie's List message and talked me through some immediate steps to take care of the mold. 3 workers came out the next morning and they did carpet and drywall removal, sprayed for mold, and left 3 fans running and an industrial size dehumidifier for 3 days. A crew of two came for a few hours over the next two days and removed more drywall and insulation and other materials. The crews were all very courteous, friendly, honest, hardworking and considerate. I was flexible with scheduling and the last visit was from 8:30 to 10:30 in the evening, but it worked perfectly. They taped plastic over the entrance to the basement when I expressed concern over the fumes from the mold inhibitor chemicals. Over the three days they delivered and picked up all the equipment, set up and moved fans and dehumidifier, mopped over the wet concrete floor, sprayed strong mold inhibiting chemicals, swept and vacuumed up debris with a HEPA vacuum, helped move furniture and other items, bagged and disposed of most materials removed, and made suggestions for followup (such as installing a sump pump with automatic battery backup). One worker mentioned insurance coverage and it spurred me to check my policy. I am covered for water backup which should apply for a drain tile system apparently - we'll see how that goes once the adjuster takes a look at it later this week. It turned out the charges were at high end of what I would have guessed, but definitely not out of the expected range. It took several days for the bill to be supplied - at this time there was such tremendous demand for these services - but when I requested an invoice for the insurance adjuster, they were speedy in getting it to me via email. It made me nervous to not know what the cost would be for the job during the work, yet truly I had such a quick response and they let me know the charges would be by the task and also by the day for the equipment used. Update: Had an issue to resolve when I realized that my $500 desposit check had been cashed in June but that hadn't been credited to my bill. So I had overpaid them by $500 and they hadn't caught that. Called an got an immediate response and apology - the check with a $500 refund came in a couple of days. The problem was how badly they record the names and addresses from phone contacts. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company to simply double check all spelling when taking down the customers information - whether on phone or in person - to make sure it is correct. The info has to be verified!!

JohJohn was quick to respond to my call for help and had Eric on site in a couple hours to do a walk-through and estimate. Eric listened carefully to what our needs were and didn't try to sell us extra services that we didn't really want or couldn't afford. The crew was polite and worked hard to get the clean-up done quickly. They also checked in later to make sure that everything had gone well. I hope I don't need their services again, but if I have to deal with another flooded basement I'll definitely call Loyear.

They were not alright. They were a bit highly priced for the very short time they were here. They just came in and confirmed that we had mold and that was it. I felt it was a waste of money the entire time.

Thank you for your feed back. I will look into this further but we don't provide mold testing services. We do go out to give a free evaluation to determine if you may need mold testing by an Industrial Hygienist (they will usually charge about $500.00 for services) if the issue is clear cut we will write you a free estimate for the remediation saving the cost of the Industrial Hygienist. Please contact us if this does not clarify the situation at 952-831-0777. Thank you, John Loyear

One of our sump pumps went out the morning after a horrible rain storm and we woke up to 3" of water in the den in our lower level. I scoured Angie's List for a company - left a few messages at 6:30 am but Loyear was the first to respond. They were able to have a technician out to our home within 2 hours. He was prompty, friendly, professional, informative and incredibly helpful. Because we started to remove furniture and plug the sump pump back into a non-faulty outlet (we just moved last August and didn't realize the outlet was faulty), we were able to head off a lot of the water damage. After he removed all the water from the carpet, we went and purchased a dehumidifer and a few fans to speed up the drying process. I hope I don't have to call them again but if it's needed, i wouldn't hesitate calling Loyear first!
Description of Work: Removed carpet pad and removed water from den area and carpet in lower level.

He was able to explain to me the mold damage that I had. He was able to show me pictures of how bad and how much worse it can be. He said that mine is something that a handyman can do, it doesn’t require such expensiveness. He was very down-to-earth. He explained that the solution to my problem can be handled by his company and it’s gonna cost 1/3 of the price. But it also can be done by myself or a handyman. He showed me pictures of the kind of job that they take care of that would require more of a professional service. He showed me the correct way, see if it would help do that. He’s an honest and helpful man. He did not try to get money out of me. He came out right away.
Description of Work: I used Loyear Restoration Services to take a look at my mold problems. He even helped me test my wall if I had lead in it.

Really can't say enough about the outstanding level of customer service, professionalism, and quality of work of this company from the initial audit through the remediation and site clean-up. They did a nice job and billed my insurance company directly for the sewage damage removal service. All the technicians were professional and went above and beyond our expectations. Loyear Restoration Services was great and we highly recommend them to all our friends and family! You can't afford not to have Loyear Restoration Services help you with your water and mold issues. Hopefully this won't happen to us again, but they have a dedicated customer if any other water issues come up in the future.
Description of Work: When our house flooded we were in a panic. Loyear Restoration Services showed up at our door within 45 minutes and handled everything from moving our furniture to meeting with our insurance adjuster.

We just had the guy come out, he looked at our situation and he said that if we wanted this done that they could come back and whatever it cost they will have it done. I actually talked to the company before somebody came out and the person I talked to was the co-owner of the company. I told them somethings we had done and she said do not do some of these things that we had done, but when this guy came out he said we could do that for you and some of that was what she told us not to do. I did not feel real confident. With the call, I felt like the lady knew what she was talking about and when the estimator came out he contradicted some of the stuff she had told me and said it would be this much dollars to do the job that he thought needed to be done, but it was not what she thought needed to be done. She was so responsive and gave me a lot of good time and gave me some ideas. The estimator came out in a timely manner. He came when he said he was coming and he was definitely reasonable about when he could make it. Based on the way the estimator acted and talked I think we are going to try to find somebody else.
