Shelly is professional, punctual and just plain nice to work with. Good communication, honest pricing, great work ethic and completed project on budget. We ran into some difficulty with new and old concrete not matching and her team worked with us to get a satisfactory resolution after a few different staining attempts. Overall, a great experience and we would use them again. The regrading that was done for our driveway was great and the new driveway is smooth and easier to navigate. We expect to enjoy the fruits of their labors for many years to come.

Project went well. We agreed to delay a week or so to allow a neighbor to have his drive way done with us at a amplest savings for us both. We were surprised to learn we needed the fabric underlayment over clay, but agreed to use it for an additional fee.

It was a positive experience. They came out for the estimate in a timely manner, but there was 3-4 weeks period between removing the old driveway and putting in new one. I am not sure why that happened, but they did a good job afterwards.

Shelly from Earth Wizards came out to give an estimate on replacing a sidewalk and patio for us, and replacing an asphalt driveway. We had 3 companies give estimates on each of the jobs...........I would say Shelly by far was the most thorough in explaining what was needed, and in doing things the right way without cutting corners. Unfortunately, the pricing was not as close to the other estimates as I would have liked, and we ended up going with another company. Because we may possibly move in the next few years, we were trying to get a decent job done, but at the best price possible. However - if this were our "forever home", I think we would have paid the extra and had her do the work, she really knows her stuff.

I checked with four other companies listed in Angie's List. Even though pricing was somewhat similar among them, I finally chose Earth Wizards as they were the only one who took the time to show me what should be done, how, variables, materials, etc. Shelly Crow spent some time with me walking on and around the driveway, and basically she was the order winning factor. Work was done in two steps as once the old blacktop was removed they had to bring some more material to stabilize the base and wait for that to settle. They came back the following week and the whole crew worked on a very hot day to put the new blacktop. I would call them again in the future.

Although we did not anticipate foundation repairs, from the beginning Earth Wizards made us feel we were in the right hands. Many truck-loads of asphalt and old base needed to be removed to get the new slopes correct on this project. With one driveway slightly higher than the other, unique challenges were presented and Earth Wizards solved them all. When the original driveways were pulled and initial grading was done it because apparent the scope of work was going to be a bit larger than originally thought or hoped. The driveways had dropped not just a little but by nearly a foot! This resulted in some additional expense for both households: our neighbor had to have an additional step and joining sidewalk added to the home an in both cases, retaining walls of 2-4 blocks is now required (one is already done, ours begins soon). Whether for good or bad, we knew from the start there may be overages in the project and through no fault of Earth Wizards, this was the case. Upon rip-out and initial grading, Earth Wizards allowed us a week to drive on the base and to see what the water was going to do. It also facilitated additional compaction as a result of our watering the base and driving on it. Note: this additional time is not a common practice, as typically the rip-out, grading and paving takes place in one day. Because our driveways form a small parking lot and the pitches needed to be more precise than usual, Earth Wizards allowed us this time. It was at this stage we discovered the damage to our foundation and were able to make repairs. This resulted in a few days delay to the final grade and paving and Earth Wizards was patient while we did what was necessary. During this time period the neighbor's steps and sidewalk were also curing. The final paving went smoothly and after worrying a bit about angles, slopes, puddling, the flooding of basements etc., we are pleased to say the driveway not only looks great but works great! There are several spots where hot patches were put into place, demonstrating the attention to detail necessary to get the job done correctly. Although there is one or two spots where small puddles form, overall the driveway is extraordinarily improved over what we had before. Earth Wizards did a fantastic job and we are most appreciative. Upon completion, Earth Wizards was prepared to offer bids on the now-necessary retaining walls for both driveways. Both our neighbor and we decided to take on this relatively small project ourselves. We are most pleased with the entire project, coordinated by Shelly Skow. This is an excellent company and choosing them to do your driveway(s) will result in nothing but an excellent experience overall.

Shelly and Gary were great to work with. They kept us informed as to when they would perform the work and showed up as scheduled. I can't speak to quality just yet, but based on the other reviews, we have high expectations.

We are extremely pleased with the outcome, and are very thankful to Earth Wizards for their professionalism, expediency, and thorough work they performed. From the onset when we met with the owners, we felt that they were genuinely interested in making sure we ended up with a solution that suited us and that we were happy with.Starting with the estimate and the quote, they came to see us a couple of times, to sit down and discuss options, what was possible and what wasn't, and specifically why. The quote was straight forward and easy to understand, with several options to choose from, so that we could sit down and discuss what we wanted to do calmly before making a decision. As work commenced on the property it was truly surprising how quickly they worked, and how sensitive and careful they were not to disturb any of our neighbors' property. The crew who worked on our property was very willing to talk to us, and describe to us what they were doing, how things were going to unfold, timelines, etc. Very impressive to work with.The excavation of the old driveway went very well, the sloping of the foundation for the new driveway was over quickly. They even helped us move plants that we didn't think we had to move, loaned us some tarps to temporarily put the plants on, and placed them out of the way. How cool is that?!Then they re-graded our entire back yard by removing some of the poor quality top soil and all of the old and decrepit concrete walkways. As rain falls heavily now it's evident how much drainage has been improved, and this seemingly simple maneuver has helped us tremendously.After grading the patio foundation was put into place in front of the garage. They selected a material nice enough that we didn't have to put pavers on immediately, which was of tremendous value to us, since the investment in the project was high already for our budget and expendable income.Now it was time to cast the new driveway. The casting forms were put down quickly, and the next day the concrete truck showed up. It was exciting to watch, and it showed that these guys had worked with concrete before as the new runners have exactly the right slope, and they look beautiful. They covered the runners with a type of film that protects from dirt and filth until we're ready with hauling stuff into the back yard to finish our flower beds and such, and this film will eventually biodegrade. Fresh top soil was put into place in the center of the runway, and the crew even offered to sow the new grass for us, and they covered it up with straw fabric weave to keep birds and such out. Very courteous!After a few days of rain we could tell that one part of the yard and patio foundation seemed to collect rain water, so we called Earth Wizards, and the next day they were there to correct this. All in all it was a very pleasant experience, and it was genuinely great to work with this team of professional kind people. We have nothing but great things to say about them.In addition to the work they did in our yard, they have helped us a lot with tips on plants, where to find them, providing information, and even offered help with purchasing material from wholesale places that only sell to professionals. With any other project we may have coming up, we would dearly love to work with Earth Wizards again. We recommend them very highly to anyone.

Everyone we encountered at Earth Wizards was a true professional. When they came out to do the estimate, they were on time and provided a detailed quote on the spot. They followed up after the quote and while they weren't the cheapest, they made me feel confident in their ability to do a good job. Removal of the old driveway was incredibly fast and efficient. Mother nature didn't cooperate fully so it took a couple weeks from the time they removed the old driveway until they put down the asphalt. The base was well packed and easy to drive on. The asphalt work was excellent as well. We have a sloped lot that has some inconsistent grades. They put down the asphalt so it was a consistent drop/grade from top to bottom. This required them to use more asphalt than they quoted but there was no discussion of extra cost - they just did it. It looks awesome. The finish work was excellent as well. They cleaned up after themselves perfectly. The only thing left after they left was tire marks on the street. Very very nice work and highly recommended.

Earth Wizards came out and gave a prompt estimate. Shelly was thorough and gave you confidence in the company. I hired them based on past reviews, their website, and perceived quality.of work . I signed the contract and they said they would come out in two to three weeks. I got a call on the following Monday and they said they could get started . They worked with a crew that spread and stamped the asphalt and while they lined it out, I was able to make changes and they charged me more because of more asphalt but it was reasonable. They were done the next day and the driveway is beautiful.A

Very thorough and precise in their measurements and cost estimates. Would use them again in the future.

Earth Wizards is a very responsive organization. They were prompt about getting to us for questions and quotes. They listed to our concerns, gave us multiple options, and provided no pressure to "sign right now". Process of removal and laying down new driveway went very well. There cleanup was so good that you could hardly tell they were there. Price was a little higher than some of the others, but still in the ballpark. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

I'm convinced that this new driveway will long outlast my previous one. (17 years) All of the work and interactions met or exceeded my expectations. Their attention to detail on the edges of my driveway was exceptional. Both crews were very personable and professional. I will not hesitate to recommend them to my family and friends.

Shelly Skow met with us; explained the work; described other work refinements related to the site in the bid; answered our questions about going with an asphalt driveway; and answered questions about contract exclusions and guarantees. The bid was competitive with other contractors. Excavation, capping and filling of concrete block, and leveling and compacting of sub grade was completed on one day. The sub grade was allowed to completely dry before the mix was rolled and compacted. The mix was installed and the job was finished on a subsequent day. The installation was excellent, with high quality finishing of interface areas such as the concrete floor of garage, wall block, and concrete steps. Edging of mix with the lawn matched former driveway dimensions. At the suggestion of Gary, a decorative rock area adjoining the wall block was sealed to prevent water from running under the surface. A brochure given to us after the job was completed explained the curing process and the do's and don't's for surface contact with cars, etc. until the asphalt is properly cured. This was a very successful job and is a significant improvement over the old concrete driveway.

The crew was very nice and professional and the work area was left very clean. We had thought to add a drainage line from our downspout under the driveway to end in a french drain by the street. They were willing to do this but explained that the flex from that piping could cause the driveway to crack so it was not recommended. This would have been additional money for them but I was very impressed that they were more concerned with the quality and durability of the work than with the additional money. The driveways were removed and fill placed with no issues. The actual install was delayed because the neighbors driveway was not settling evenly. They came back a week later and re-dug out the bottom of their driveway, went deeper, and re-layed the fill. This again showed the concern for the quality of the final product. The driveways were both layed the next week and again the crew was friendly, hard-working, and proffessional. The area was left completely clean. The only critisism was with communication. It might have been because of the 2 driveways being done at the same time. There were 2 instances where timing and issues were communicated to the neighbors but not to me. I mentioned this and received an apology and am satisfied that this is not normally an issue.

Shelly, the project consultant, was very professional and quick to reply to my phone call to set up a time to come out and do an estimate. She showed up exactly on time, was very thorough in explaining and making suggestions as to how the work could be done, and then followed up immediately with a written estimate. The estimate was very much in line with others I had received (or even slightly lower). The work commenced one month after I signed a contract and I was impressed with how quickly and professionally the project was completed. Both the project manager and Shelly were good at follow-up calls to keep me abreast of what was being done and when, and also to answer any questions I might have. I felt they did their best to make sure their work created as little disruption as possible to our daily routine. Their workers did a great job (including cleanup afterward), I am pleased with the final results and wouldn't hesitate to use them again or recommend them to a friend.

I have a tricky, long narrow driveway with tough drainage issues. I got advice from my city engineers first on what to look for in an asphalt driveway installation then shopped for a contractor. Earth Wizards followed the engineer's advice - letting me drive over the sublayer for a few weeks; retouching the sublayer; applying a nice hot mix on a warm day; and using a mix with lots of aggregate in it. Gary was an artist, contouring the mix so water wouldn't flow to the garage or house (hard to accomplish on my site). When I got nervous about the job between the time when the sublayer was placed and the asphalt laid, Gary called me and calmly addressed my questions and concerns. He took the time to educate me about asphalt sublayers.This is a great company.

The estimate that Earth Wizards gave me was actually three times higher than the company I used to do the work. They did a great job explaining what they would do, and gave me options. They were very professional. The girl who came out whose name is Shelly was very helpful in answering my questions and making suggestions. I probably would have gone with them had I not found the other company who would do exactly the same thing for two thirds less money. That makes a big difference. I was surprised that they did not counter price their estimate. I told Shelly exactly what the other bid was for but she did not come down. I am sure they have their own cost to deal with but it was pretty expensive. I would call them again though for this particular job I found somebody a lot less expensive.

We found Earth Wizards on Angie's List and chose to hire them based on the glowing reviews and the professionalism and punctuality Shelly showed when she came out to give us an estimate. She was extremely knowledgable and friendly, and I was very impressed with her and the company from the start. We received our estimate mid-May, and after a couple weeks of discussing whether we would seal coat our driveway or replace it completely, we authorized service to seal coat in early June. (We ultimately decided to hold off on replacing the driveway for another year.) We expressed to Shelly that we ideally wanted to have the seal coating completed around the mid-June timeframe. Shelly said she couldn't promise that, but would try her best to have it scheduled during that time. I realize that the weather created some scheduling conflicts, and Shelly was continually very responsive via email and phone when we expressed concerns that many weeks continued to go by without our driveway being scheduled. As we approached almost 2 months without confirmation of the service being scheduled and without any good explanation for why it was taking so long, we chose to cancel our service authorization and look into other alternatives. This experience was very frustrating for me because we had very positive interactions with Shelly, but I believe she had little control over how/when projects were scheduled. Without further explanation, I'm left wondering if our small-scale project was a lower priority than other homeowners wanting to do bigger projects. When we emailed Shelly to cancel our service, she said she would pass our message along to those in charge, but we never heard anything back. As such, I'm afraid that next year when we do replace our driveway, we will definitely be looking elsewhere!

Earth Wizards were fantastic. It was nice hiring a contractor who treats your job better than if you did it yourself. We had a deadline to meet before visiting company showed up and they were the only ones who could get it done. The work that was done and the final product was better than what we discussed. Gary the "foreman" makes sure everything goes as planned but he also watches out for the little details that we forgot to put in the contract. First of all he had our stoop switched from square corners to rounded corners to better match our home and landscape. Then once the sidewalk was installed properly the lawn came up four inches short from reaching the sidewalk. Again Gary had a good portion of the sod removed, brought in some dirt and graded the front lawn and re-installed the sod. Now our front lawn and sidewalk are flush and looking great. I highly recommend Earth Wizards and if you want to know how much experience they really have you'll have to ask them since they don't seem to brag about it :)

Job was done in an excellent manner. Shelly was very professional and easy to work with, very responsive to our needs. Gary and the work crew were also very professional and easy to work with. The driveway edges are straight and finished nicely. The engineering of the driveway was superb! A 3 1/2 inch rain a couple of days after the job proved this; the water was channelled away from the downspouts and into a stream down the driveway to the street. Water doesn't even get onto the neighbors yard. This was an excellent experience for us, one of the best contracting jobs we have ever encountered. Hopefully we can get them invooved in another project in our yard.

Went very well in spite of the messy, wet spring. They worked around our often-out-of-town schedule.

Called Earth Wizards in April. Shelly came out and gave us an estimate. Liked her, and liked the company (based on Angie List reports). Because of the odd sping and early summer, they were not able to get at our driveway until mid June. Came and removed old driveway. In the process, they discovered that asphalt was poured over old concrete driveway. That had to be removed too (at no additional cost). In order to straighten the line of the driveway, they also removed 2 old tree stumps and a clothes line pole (that had been annoying my wife for 23 years). All in all we are very pleased. Now just waiting for heavy rains to see how the new driveway drainage works.

They were prompt. They brought everything down, what exactly they were going to use and what the products were. They were very informational. They seemed very honest. They are a good and hard working company.

Extremely well. Very well organized company from start, with sales person Shelly to finish with installation team and Gary as the project manager. They showed up (early) on the specific days, which was wonderful. They were professional, attentive to the yard surroundings, considerate right down to the clean-up. I will highly recommend Earth Wizards.
