I called Kathleen to schedule furnace repair when the furnace didn't start the first time heat was needed this fall. It was not an emergency, yet they were able to fit the work at our convenience the following day. Mark arrived 5 minutes early after verifying with a phone call. Kathleen described Mark's vehicle so I would not fear opening my door to a stranger. I had spare igniters on hand since it is the part that is replaced most frequently (after filters). Our model of furnace's igniter is particularly difficult to replace, and the overall time spent was somewhat under an hour. If All Mechanical Services had supplied the part they would have guaranteed the part for a year and the cost would have been another $40 - 50.00 or so. I had another company charge double that amount several years ago for the same part, although that call was after normal hours during an especially cold period. Mark answered all the questions I asked about the furnace. It seemed obvious to me that he doesn't try to add services that are not needed in order to pad the cost of the call. We had no pets or small children around to judge if he is kid/pet friendly. I was very happy with the work done and the effort that Mark and Kathleen go to to keep happy customers. I prefer doing business with owner/operators like this one.

Mark walked me thru the bleeding process. fixed our problem over the phone. appreciated the "free advice". will call him for future service.
Description of Work: advisory services: called Mark to see if i needed professional help. turned up the pressure in our boiler to bleed our radiators. pressure was too high and popped the release valve.

Wonderful. Mark was extremely knowledgable and didn't waste anytime in servicing our boiler. We called for service the same day and spoke to his wife, Kathy. She is extremely pleasant and professional on the phone. Mark came out that afternoon and replaced the one of our pums that provides in-floor heat. We asked that he check the carbon monoxide levels as our carbon monoxide detector notified us of higher than normal levels. He verified, disassembled the boiler, and diagnosed that it was caused by a boiler that had accumulated dust and soot over many years. He indicated he could clean it or we could do it to save money, and he would come back after it was cleaned. This was on a Friday. We chose to do it ourself. He returned on Monday, said we did a good job, reassembled the boiler and everything is perfect!
Description of Work: Replaced pump on our boiler and disassembled and cleaned boiler as we were getting high carbon monoxide readings based on soot and dust

You can't ask for better service than this. At 6:30 PM, I was surprised to actually talk to not only a live person, but a very friendly one as well. Kathleen answered the phone, gave me some service call options, and had me talk to Mark the technician. He advised to have the fuses checked prior to scheduling a service call. I find it phenomenal that this free advice was even given; Mark even walked me through how to open the fuse box located next to the A/C outside. I ended up having to call for service as a hardware store tested the fuses as operable. Mark arrived promptly and started checking the A/C right away. He was able to determine that the thermostat was not communicating correctly with the A/C, and after reprogramming and resetting it, he was able to establish communication and get the unit working again. To say I highly recommend using them is an understatement; these are the best people I have ever worked with!
Description of Work: After a power outage the night before, I came home from work to discover that my A/C was not turning on even after setting the thermostat very low and tripping the breaker. After going through some troubleshooting on the phone, we could not resolve the problem so I had to schedule a service call. Seeing that Mark was booked the whole next day, I was given the option and costs of him coming out the same evening or the day after next. I opted for the same evening and Mark was able to find the problem and get the A/C working!

We were told we needed a new furnace by several contractors because of a cracked heat exchanger. As it turns out, our heat exchanger was still under manufacturer warranty! The owner, Mark, suggested we replace it and he saved our family a ton of money. He ordered the part and called me a couple of days later to arrange its installation. He arrived on time with a brand new heat exchanger, still packed in the box and wooden crate in which it was shipped. The job took an extensive amount of work and Mark got right down to business. He was very knowledgeable and skilled, and worked diligently to complete the repair within a few hours. We think Mark is phenomenal and would not hesitate to call All Mechanical Services again for repair work in our home. Thank you!

I have a GE through the wall air conditioner that had stopped cooling during extremely hot humid temperatures. I called in on 7/19/10 and my AC was picked up that day, fixed, and returned to me on 7/20/10. I had actually called a number of listed providers and was basically told they wern't interested in my business (didn't work on small units). All Mechanical Services was the only one willing to fix this type of unit and as noted above, did so courteously, efficiently, and promptly. I will definitely use them again and recommend them.
Description of Work: My GE through the wall air conditioner stopped cooling. All Mechanical Services came out and got the AC, fixed it, and returned it.

I came home from a weekend trip to find my AC non-functional. I read a number of reviews for AC/heating contractors and thought that All Mechanical had the best record with customers. I called All Mechanical on Monday and had an appointment for Tuesday morning. Mark's wife, Kathleen, was very helpful during my call and set up appt. for following day. She manages the phones and is extremely personable. Once Mark looked over my AC unit, explained problem and estimated costs to me, He said - well i think the parts are expensive - I asked what expensive meant to him and he said $400. I was greatly relieved as I had been thinking he would say $5,000! I knew then that he was a really solid guy and not out to "sell" me. The final touch was receiving a follow up letter from All Mechanical thanking me for my business and some homeowner tips for managing utility costs! Outstanding customer service - especially for a small business. You won't go wrong with Mark at All Mechanical
Description of Work: Mark arrived and quickly diagnosed the problem with my unit. Their was a clog in the external valve that connects to clear plastic tubing (on outside of unit) for water run off. Consequently, the water wasn't able to drain correctly and backed up, sending water through electrical components which shorted out. Mark showed me the damaged components and explained what would need replacing. he estimated parts to be approximately $300- $350 and then went out to get parts. He was back in about 45 minutes and had the parts replaced and AC working in short order. He answered a number of questions I had about my furnace and AC unit and advised me on how to keep the external unit clean.

As promised, and much to my relief, Mark picked up the unit same day, had it fixed, returned and reinstalled the next day. It?s cooling beautifully again. After 10 years of benign neglect, my window air-conditioner balked and refused to cool on the most humid night of the year. The fan was still working. I was worried no one would want to fix a window unit in the middle of a heat wave, if at all. After reviewing All Mechanical reports on Angie?s list, I phoned them without even checking any other contractor. Kathleen told me they would have to bring my unit into their shop to check it out. She kept me informed as to the timetable. Turned out it only needed cleaning, but it was so dirty and leaf-clogged that it cost $25 above the original quote. But that?s okay ? I cleaned the shell so I know how dirty it must have been.
Description of Work: Mark cleaned my one-and-only window air-conditioner and restored its cooling ability. Pick-up and delivery included.

Extra dirty units take more time and resources. We cannot tell how dirty a unit is until it is taken apart back at the shop. I was very impressed with the service. Kathleen kept us informed as to the approximate time of arrival. It began to storm right before Mark got here, and I thought he would try to reschedule instead of working out in the storm ( I even told him that). Luckily the storm had passed by the time he got here. He was a little later than was expected due to a doctor appt running over but that was understandable. Kathleen called us to let us know that he would be later but would still show up. He then got stuck in traffic (also unavoidable and understandable). He arrived in his personal car which I thought was unusual (was looking for a van or truck) but since he came right from the doctor's office, I figured he really didn't want to drive his work vehicle there. It didn't take him long to figure out what was wrong and fix it. He even gave me a name for some bugs that I had never seen before that were out this year and were on the CA unit. I will definetely call them in a few monthes to have my furnace serviced for the winter!

*****Called at 2 p.m. - Done by 3 p.m.***** It was the second time this summer that my A/C wasn't working: the outdoor compressor wouldn't kick in. So I called, as I did the first time, All Mechanical. Mark was there within 45 minutes after I called Kathleen, quickly diagnosed the problem, and had replaced the capacitor on my A/C within 10-15 minutes (Mark told me he keeps a supply of capacitors of different sizes in stock in his car). The total time from call for help to completion of the work was about 1 hour. It's my understanding that the base rate is $110, with a $40 surcharge for weekend work; my service call was $150. Mark then charged me $65 for a new capacitor. I checked out my capacitor online, and found prices ranging from $30 to $76.42 (some with free shipping and some with added shipping charges and tax). If I could have diagnosed the problem with my A/C by myself, and then waited 2-5 days for a new capacitor to come via UPS for Fed-Ex, I could have had this done for as little as $30. HA! My A/C was fixed in an hour after calling, and cooling my house. That's worth a lot! All Mechanical seems to be sort of a mom-and-pop operation. This is not CenterPoint Service Plus with their logo-bearing delivery vehicles and emblem-endorned starched uniforms. Mark arrived in an older passenger car that serves as his service vehicle, in a t-shirt. I'm assuming that low overhead means better prices, which seems to be born out from the price-checking I had done before my first A/C problem this summer. Bottom line: fast response, excellent service, good price. All Mechanical, again, has my recommendation.

Great service. When I called and explained the problem with my air conditioner, Kathleen suggested that I try a few things (to resolve the issue) before they came out. When I couldn't fix the problem I phoned her back to schedule a service call. Actually, if I'd followed her directions I would could have avoided the service call. However, I missed one thing that she suggested. The service guy came out and fixed the issue. I would definately use them again.

It's hard to describe since I don't know mechanicals - but our A/C coil was all rusted up and leaking all over and needed to be replaced. The coil was inside the duct work so we couldn't see it, but there was water leaking all over the floor. Mark showed us the rusted coil and said it needed to be replaced. I was surprised because I didn't know this existed - I always thought the A/C was the unit outside of our house. When this happened it was a very busy time at all the A/C companies because the weather had turned hot. We called several companies and All Mechanical Services had the shortest wait time, an A-rating and was close to our home. I enjoyed Kathleen - when I called her phone was ringing off the hook, but she maintained her sense of humor and thanked me for not yelling at her. There was no pressure from Mark - he let us decide what to do after giving us the information we needed. He did a nice job, left things clean and took away the old parts. We would use them again.
Description of Work: O\our A/C coil was rusted up and leaking all over and needed to be replaced.

The outdoor Trane air compressor for my A/C would not kick in, so I knew I needed service. I called my old standby heating & A/C company, but it was Saturday on Memorial Day weekend, and I gasped at the price: $189 to come and diagnose the problem; parts and labor were additional. I told them I'd think about it. So I immediately renewed my subscription for Angie's List and started checking. I called one service company off the list, and I was told they couldn't come until Tuesday after Memorial Day. I then called All Mechanical Services off Angie's list - they were nearby to where I live, had an A rating, and had received an Angie's List award. Kathleen answered the call; she was very personable, friendly and helpful. Kathleen told me she was shopping at Rainbow (it seems that their shop phone rolls over to her cell phone). I asked her if they did weekend work, and Kathleen told me that All Mechanical Services had a large workforce: she and her husband, Mark. She said that she thought Mark was available, took my number, and said she'd call back. A few minutes later she called and told me that Mark would be at my house in 30-45 minutes later. About a half hour later Mark arrived and fixed the A/C within a half hour. It was all done within about one hour from the time I called! Mark wore a t-shirt (instead of a collared shirt), he arrived in an unmarked green mini-van, and he came knocking at my back door without giving me a quick courtesy call to let me know that he was arriving shortly; these detracted a bit from a professional appearance/style, but did not impact the professional work that Mark did for me. After Mark was done, he gave me some tips on how I could do some of my own maintenance on the outside compressor. I believe that the base rate was $110, + $40 for weekends, & a $5 discount for mentioning Angie's List; the first hour is included. My Memorial Day weekend will stay cool! I will absolutely use All Mechanical Services again in the future. Even with my Angie's list membership fee, I came out $ ahead, rather than going with my "old standby" hvac service provider.
Description of Work: The outside Trane compressor on my central A/C was not working. Mark came and very quickly diagnosed the problem... it was a defective switch on the outside unit. As Mark explained it, based upon outdoor temp the switch would select between either high or low fan speed for the compressor. He said that he could order a new switch (and wait until next week), or he could wire a bypass to the high speed fan speed to have it working today. I chose the bypass, which he completed quickly. Upon completion, Mark offered to order and install a replacement switch, but told me that the part would cost about $100 and that it wouldn't make a detectable difference; I deferred. Total time from arrival to departure: about 30 minutes.

Your comments made me realize that I should not be announcing my out of the office wherebouts. I just wanted to inform you of the external noise ... should I have simply said I was out of the office temporarily. I will keep that in mind for all future calls. I appreciate your thoughts about not calling you again before Mark arrived. We will start doing that as a customer courtesy; telling customers Mark will arrive in 30 to 45 minutes may not be sufficient. (He was using his friend's van and not his normal service vehicle). I will add that information and his physical description to the "almost there call." As a one technician company we have not invested in company logo shirts but that is something to definitely consider. We appreciate your business and support of our "Mom and Pop" business. We love being small and giving A+ service without exception!

On the first hot day of the year, our A/C unit didn't start. It was a Monday morning, so I expected to wait a few days for repairs. I called these guys and one other firm. The other firm was booked for 2 days, but All-Mechanical found a repair guy who could stop by in the afternoon. Kathleen answered the phone and was VERY helpful, courteous, and professional. She called me back twice to updated me on the repairman's schedule so I would know exactly when to expect him. Imagine the complete opposite of the typical repair call, when they say they'll be there between 9 and 5; that's what Kathleen was. Very, very refreshing. The actual repair guy was a bit frazzled when he arrived at 4:30 or so; he had been working like a dog all day and had several more calls to make. But he got right to business, diagnosed and fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. He also gave additional information and answered my questions about how long he thought the unit would last until I have to buy another. I will definitely recommend All-Mechanical and would call them again.
Description of Work: Fixed a wire on A/C blower outside that had been chewed through by an animal over the winter.

Excellent - first, they were the only company among the eight I contacted via email a few days before Thanksgiving that got back to me on the same day. Kathleen was really nice and prompt answering my questions. We set up the service for the day after Thanksgiving, which was unexpected and appreciated. Mark gave our furnace and a/c a thorough and check-up and told us that we wouldn't have to worry about either of them for at least a few years, which was a relief. He even adjusted some of the ventilation system to even out the heat in the house. It worked perfectly all winter! Thanks!

Scheduled a time to come that was convenient to me -- didn't make me wait 4 hours. Came out the day after I called. Promptly corrected a problem 3 prior heating companies couldn't fix. Fair price. Very nice people.
Description of Work: Heat wasn't reaching our basement or our kitchen. They fixed the problem with the boiler, pump and pipes.

I called around 9AM and Mark arrived at our house about noon with the correct replacement assembly. He removed the failing exhaust assembly and promptly installed the replacement part in about 35 minutes. I was impressed with his promptness and that he called in advance to obtain the furnace serial number so he could bring the correct part. The only negative (small) is that he tracked in some sand and dirt.
Description of Work: They replaced the exhaust motor and fan assembly on our gas furnace.

Am very pleased with Mark, Kathleen, and All-Mechanical and I will definitely call them again. Mark made adjustments by turning the boiler systems levers and releasing air, water, and adding water. He showed me how to make adjustments myself and made some long-term recommendations. He was cost conscious and very easy to work with. It was easy to set up the appt. Mark showed up promptly. Thankfully, my house is warm now and I know better what to do next time as I learn the ropes of having a hot water system! Also received a follow-up letter from the company. Nice customer service.

Our furnace is 32 years old and in early January we started having more problems with the pilot light going out. I chose All Mechanical because they were the one "A" rated hvac provider that had weekend hours. I spoke to them Friday afternoon in hopes of a Sunday appointment. We set it for Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and he showed up right on time. He determined the issue very quickly and had the work done in 30 minutes. It's been running perfectly for a week, I didn't have to miss any work to have it fixed, and it was one of the least expensive appliance repair calls we've ever had.

I have a contract to check all the appliances in my house. They had come out to analyze the problem. They were convinced that it was a faulty valve. They were very responsive. The lady?s name was Kathleen Brogan. The man who did the work was Mark. She called me several times and told me when he was coming. They were very efficient. He analyzed the problem very quickly and was out of here in an hour. The price seemed a bit high to me, but I can?t confirm that. There was a trip charge too. I think theirs is a small business that is pretty well coordinated. I was pleased with them overall.

I called about 2 pm after my furnace stopped working. The starter (ignitor) has gone out before so I was pretty sure that was the problem. After talking on the phone with them for a few minutes, I was told they could come out that same afternoon. The company was great, calling me several times to keep me updated on schedule so I could leave and go to a warm coffee shop to wait instead of sitting in a cold house. The repair was done in less than 30 minutes for a good price, at least to what I have been charged before. I will use these guys again. It was a pleasure to deal with them.

I found All Mechanical Services on Angie's List, and couldn't be more happy with them. I'm a first time home owner and pretty clueless about how everything works. I called because my Aprilaire humidifier wasn't working. When he came out I find out that it was working - I just needed a new filter. He was able to get one and put it in and while he was there took a look at my furnace at my request. He didn't think any of my questions were dumb. Afterwards they sent me some tips about how to save money. I will definitely use them again!!
Description of Work: My humidifier wasn't working. They came to look at it, and it actually was working but wasn't connected properly and needed a new filter. He went home to get a filter, brought it back and installed it and now it works great!

excellent service and results. excellent notification/updates by phone of arrive time. explained what he was doing and why. offered to leave or take the replaced part. didn't offer to take off his shoes though. but overall I am so pleased in comparison to experiences with other companies. and quite reasonable charges. would definitely use them next time.
