Overall, we are very pleased with our deck and screen porch and the quality of work that was performed. We chose Outdoor Spaces because of how impressed we were with Jon Brenhoffer. He listened to our needs very well and provided excellent consultation on deck design and materials. When we were concerned about the original estimate being over our budget, he worked to find an alternatative for us that brought the cost down, without the sacrifice of function or quality. Most of all, Jon demonstrated deck construction expertise and provided detailed explanations of how work would be performed. During construction, we were disappointed to learn that it was not Jon's role to supervise the work. (We had thought he was the owner of the company, but installers informed us that Jon is a sales person and this company is actually owned by McNamara Construction - a name we had not heard until work began on our project.) In fact, there was no quality control process in place (meaning no one assigned to come look over the work and ensure it was meeting an established standard). Therefore, that role fell on us. However, it is only fair to report that each time we had a concern, we called Jon who did come out whenever we requested him to. He followed through on every concern, and even did some work himself when they were low on available staff due to high volume of projects being done at one time. Jon always answered his phone and returned calls promptly. Our concerns were all addressed. We just would have preferred if Outdoor Spaces had been more proactive - sending out a supervisor to look over work and to catch issues before they had to be reported by the homeowners. In the end, though, our deck and porch are beautiful and just what we wanted. Outdoor Spaces offered a higher-end finished product than what we could find with many other builders. We were also very pleased with the screen-system they use as well as the aluminum railings.

Jon did a great job. It was completed on time and on estimate. Outdoor Spaces is the only deck company I got an estimate from that charges strictly by the square footage of the deck to be built. I had other firms quote me what they thought I could afford, which I found absurd. Jon's company is the only one I know of that will frame a deck for a DIY homeowner.

The service was very good and the job was completed to our satisfaction. The price was fair.

They did great work! They showed up on time, were very prompt and courteous as well as business like. We would use them again.

Jon is a very friendly and creative person. We loved the ideas he had for our deck and the bid was very competitive. The crew showed up every day at 8 and worked HARD. The crew was very friendly. They even put our grill onto the deck for us (not an easy feat)! They did a beautiful job.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. I had done extensive online research and had made appointments with several contractors to bid our project. John was the first to come out to talk with us about our deck and give us a quote. John listened to that we wanted and asked us several questions about what we were looking for in a deck. While we paged through photos of decks they had built, he did a drawing of what he thought would accommodate what we were looking for. We were so impressed with his knowledge, the design he came up with (saved us money by not wasting space), and the composite material that he works with, that we signed a contract that same day. I canceled all of the other appointments, and I don't usually do that without getting other quotes first. I'm always cautious when it comes to contractors, especially since we have had bad experiences in the past. When the team showed up to begin building our deck, we were immediately impressed. They were prompt, very professional, and we could tell that they love what they do. We had GREAT communication, which is key to any project. When the deck was complete, we were amazed by how well it turned out---far exceeding our expectations! We could not be happier! The deck was completed on time and on budget. I recommend this company 100%, and will definitely call them back if we decide to do any other porch or deck work!

As with any job there were some issues that came up but everything was handled with professionalism and courtesy. The final job was very satisfactory. Communication was EXCELLENT! Staff went above and beyond to help settle issues that came up with contractors they had referred for other work that was to be done (screen porch being added). I am glad we used the contractors referred. We have had many compliments about the deck from people we don't even know that walk by. We appreciated that the owner was very straight forward in the contract and followed the guidelines that were presented in it. Workers were very kind and hard working.

I would give them an A+. They did outstanding work. I can't say enough good things about them. I have recommended them to a couple of neighbors. They were so easy to work with. They came in on a Friday afternoon and hand dug the holes for the posts. When the city gave them approval, they started the work. They finished the work in just 2 1/2 days. The workers worked well together, and were actually a pleasure to have around. John, the owner was amazing. They were courteous of us and our neighbors. They seemed to enjoy what they do, and it shows. They work year round and can even build decks in the winter. We clicked well with John from the beginning and he did a great job of explaining things to us. It couldn't have been a better fit for us. The owner does the design and is on site for the work. He takes the time to answer questions.
