I asked for a quote for adding a third stall to my garage and instead of meeting or talking to me and giving me a quote or at least a ball park estimate this "builder" simply asked me what my budget was and then simply dismissed me because that number was too low. If I knew what this should or would cost I would not have asked for a quote. I found this company very brash and frankly RUDE. I would not hire them now if my life depended on it.

A little background might be helpful. We moved to town a few years ago so my husband could spend his remaining time around his grandchildren. The townhouse we bought had been roughly used and wasn’t our style. None of that mattered at the time. Last year I was ready to start making our townhouse feel like my home. To do that, I needed to update most of the main floor. This was a big project and I needed to be reasonable about the money spent. I wanted to find a contractor who lived/worked “south of the river” and would help bring my vision to life. A granite store recommended Country Creek Builders – Dan Drenckhahn’s company. I went home, looked at Angie’s List and the Country Creek website and knew that I’d found the right guy. I sent an email through the Country Creek website and Dan answered before 7 AM the next morning. The final project included: Kitchen, building new railing around stairs, hardwood floors &/or carpet, replacing ALL woodwork around windows & baseboards, update fireplace, update half-bath, new floor & counter in laundry room, updating lighting and fixing electrical issues and painting everything. All this work was done in 7 weeks!! Dan’s process: He listens to what to you want to accomplish with your project and presents designs/options. Once the general plan is made, he prices the project out so that it’s easy to understand how the cost will change up/down with final material selections. Dan is very organized – you know the schedule well in advance and things actually happen according to that schedule. Country Creek has employees that do much of the work but the subcontractors know that they also need to deliver on the set time schedule. This means that there aren’t gaps when nothing is happening on your project! Now my house feels like my home. Thanks Dan!! Next year, we’ll start on the lower level!!

We started with three companies bids for the work. We chose Country Creek Builders- from start to finish, they were super! The project took about 4 weeks from picking out everything to the end. They weren't the cheapest, but from the start of the work to its completion it has been a wonderful experience! . We had an information app, which from day one, we knew how long the project was going to last and who was going to be at our home on which day. All of our questions were answered right away or an email was waiting for us by 6 AM the next morning. It was a lengthy job, but Dan the owner had everyone coordinated ever so well and all the people worked well together. There were two subcontractors-an electrician and plumber which too were very professional, easy to work with and punctual. Dan, stopped by almost every day and kept up on our job. He also went with us at the start to pick out tile-for the floor and the shower, also helped us with granite top choices , met us at a cabinet shop for our cabinets and set up an appointment for fixture choices. The bid we received included the prices of our choices for everything, the supplies and labor , so we knew from the beginning what the estimated final cost was going to be and it was right on.. Never once did my husband nor I feel as we were just a customer. THANK YOU COUNTRY CREEK BUILDERS.. We love our bathroom. A special thank you to Dan, Dave, Jesus and Dan the painter. I have nothing but good things to say about working with Country Creek on this project. The project started and finished on time and we were made aware of what the general plan would be each day. They use an online scheduler that is shared with the customer which we found very helpful. I am home with three young children so it was very nice to know which days it would be helpful to be out of the house. The guys on the crew are also very friendly which was nice as they were working around my kids. We also used Country Creek 3 yrs ago for a large mud room reno and will definitely be using them the next time we need a contractor. One thing I learned from these two projects is that not all cabinets are created equal. Our mud room cabinets and bathroom vanity are exceptionally high quality and simply beautiful to look at as well. They really make the spaces beautiful. Great experience all around!

After speaking with a number of contractors, we decided to go with Dan and Country Creek Builders for our remodel work. Dan's ability to listen to our needs and to communicate clearly, along with his detailed estimate and schedule were what sold us. We were also very happy to hear that Dan would offer up his time to assist in making some of the selections (in this case vanity, tile, and granite), which also went a long way in making us comfortable with our choice. Dan and his crews were great to work with and very friendly and accommodating. Jesus always took the time to go through his work and answer any questions at the end of the day if myself or my wife were around. First and foremost - every one of his crew did top notch work, never once did we find a reason to question their commitment to quality or expert level of their craft. Nate and Dave always kept us informed of what was going on and were happy to answer any questions or address any concerns. Dan, the painter, was incredibly friendly and also would always ensure he went through what he had done an answered any questions if someone was around. All of the subcontracted work was also done by very friendly and professional teams. We also had a window and 2 sliding glass patio doors replaced during this project. During the replacement of one, significant water damage was found due to a poor previous install, and a wall wound up needing to be replaced in the basement. The team responded to this bump in the road very well, and took extra steps to ensure it won't happen in the future. I am certain Country Creek Builders will be our first call for our next project.

I couldn't be happier with the professionalism and quality of their work. Recently I had a small issue with a shelf in my pantry cupboard and they came over and fixed it at no charge for me, two and a half years after installation. Dan had also helped me get some other small jobs done in my home. I would highly recommend Dan and Dave and their crew. They treat your home as though it was their own, and I felt completely comfortable having them come and work in my home when I wasn't there.

This is the second project that Country Creek has done for me. I cannot say enough about their responsiveness, quality of work, and the guys themselves who do the work. They are always kind, polite and hard-working. I highly recommend them without question.

Our new bathroom is amazingly beautiful, and exactly what we'd hoped (and then some). The project went very smoothly, and completed in the estimated time and on budget. Dan and his staff were all courteous, professional and phenomenal to work with. I will definitely call Country Creek for an estimate on my next project.

If you've been looking for a builder or a company to remodel your home, look no further! Dan and his team went above and beyond to ensure that our vision became a reality. What was really impressive is that Dan was more concerned about our budget than we were (and we WERE careful). If there was an issue, they fixed it immediately. Plus, Dan's team member, Dave, is extremely talented and the quality of his work is top notch. As the project continued and we thought of things to add, they could easily adjust and add it on the fly. Plus, their other team members always went above and beyond as well. My husband and I are thrilled with the quality of their work, their professionalism and their desire to get it right! If you've been looking for a builder for awhile, this is your sign! The only question is, are they available and can they get you in? We are already planning to hire them for more work! I cannot recommend them enough!

Everything went according to the proposal. Dan provided a very detailed estimate, everything was picked out before the job was started, so I knew the exact cost. Dan also provides a detailed online schedule of when the work would be done. Very responsive to any questions. All workers did and excellent job. The finished product is beautiful. I would hire Country Creek again and recommend them to others.

Everything went very smoothly. Dan (general contractor) gave us a very detailed bid that contained reasonable allowances so we were not blind-sided when we went to select new fixtures, etc. He uses an on-line system which includes a calendar view so you can easily see scheduled construction events. He is very personable and was very prompt when we contacted him with questions. We would not hesitate to hire Country Creek for future remodeling jobs.

Everything went according to the proposal. The finished product is beautifully done and all the work is excellent quality. All the workers were punctual, extremely polite, responsive and respectful of my home. I would definitely use Country Creek Builders again and would recommend them to others.

We were lucky enough to have Mike Nelson from The Tile Store in Burnsville recommend Country Creek Builders, Inc. to us this fall while we were looking at flooring for our 1970’s master bathroom/closet make-over. We’d already had 3 bidders for this job and were not super-impressed with any of them for various reasons, so we gave Mr. Dan Drenckhahn a call. We are 60 years old and have survived multiple home renovation projects with other contractors in other homes in other states over the years, so we have a frame of reference. This contractor is truly terrific. He is ultra-organized and has assembled a crackerjack team of electricians, plumbers, sheet-rock hangers, mudders and tapers, framers, flooring people, contacts at hardware galleries, closet designers, painters, glass people, and counter-top people. Every single person who entered our home under his aegis was professional, respectful, efficient and a pleasure to have with us. All of these people worked extraordinarily well together and clearly respect Dan as a project manager. And vice versa…Dan also expressed his sincere admiration and respect for each of them on many occasions. This atmosphere of mutual respect and positivity made our project a delight! From the beginning, we had a feeling this would end well. On his initial visit, Mr. Drenckhahn explained his system of keeping the client in the loop as to when each of his subcontractors would be coming: he shared his electronic calendar with us!! If there was ever a variation, he also contacted us immediately via phone call, text or e-mail!! Also, whenever we called, e-mailed or texted him, he answered right away!!! Furthermore, on the initial visit, we explained what we wanted done and what our budget was. He listened carefully and made fantastic suggestions about more cost-effective approaches. Within 2 days of that visit, Mr. Drenckhahn e-mailed us a detailed formal proposal for $5,000.00 less than the top of our budget. We spent another week e-mailing back and forth with him working out the details. We especially appreciated his patience with us during that time as we were able to eliminate time-consuming and costly “change-orders” further on down the line. As a result, our project was completed 5 days ahead of time, exactly on budget and with a much, much better result than we had even hoped for. We are extremely and especially appreciative for this outcome because, even though Mr. Drenckhahn and his team were also working on other far more extensive and expensive home renovations than ours and a major commercial contract at the same time, he always made us feel like our project was just as important as anything else he was working on. He came to our house almost every single day to check on progress. This, of course, was also very reassuring to us as home-owners. We want to point out that while Mr. Drenckhahn was not the lowest bidder for this project, we are convinced he was by far and away the best value. We would strongly recommend him to anyone needing a dependable, experienced, extremely capable project manager for any type of home or business construction.

Seeing previous Angie’s List reviews, we contacted Country Creek Builders about this situation on a Monday morning. On Tuesday, the owner, Dan Drenckhahn, came out to take measurements and hear about what we wanted. On Thursday, we received an e-mail estimate from him we thought was reasonable based on other quotes, so we accepted it. The next day, Dan placed the order. Two weeks later he e-mailed us letting us know the doors and frames and hardware were all in, stained to our specifications and ready to install at our earliest convenience. Twenty five days after our initial call, all 25 doors are perfectly installed! They look beautiful. Dan’s son, Dave Drenckhahn, did all the installation on this project. He was wonderful to work with—extremely knowledgeable, supremely skillful, efficient, down-to-earth, good-natured, patient, well-spoken, organized and obviously has lots and lots and lots of experience with doors and every other aspect of home-building. Dave offered great on-the-spot advice when decisions needed to be made that we did not anticipate, like oddly cut trim where the previous doors were hung and strangely constructed closets. He did this without saying offensive things about the previous builder from 45 years ago. We felt that demonstrated a high level of maturity, professionalism and grace on Dave’s part, because the previous woodwork was off kilter in many places and was indeed a challenge to correct. (We were not charged for these corrections!) Furthermore, when Dave encountered these odd situations, he came up with novel solutions and employed those fixes immediately, always explaining to us first what he was doing in case we wanted it done differently. It was indeed refreshing and pure pleasure to work with Country Creek Builders. They are professional, reasonably priced, and they got the job done a few days ahead of time without any additional “surprise” costs at the end. We will contact them without hesitation in the future with other re-modeling projects as we get our house ready to sell.

Like most homeowners, the prospect of any construction is terrifying, especially when you have to live in the house while it's ongoing. Thankfully, my experience was nothing like that because I was smart enough to hire Dan Drenckhahn and Country Creek Builders (CCB). Dan must have insight into every bad thing that people fear about construction, because he makes sure that he and his team do the exact opposite. My situation was uniquely challenging because I initiated this project while I lived in another state... If you've ever tried to modify a home you've never even set foot in, please take my advice and don't do it. Or if you do--get CCB to help! I will also say that on the spectrum of client temperaments, I'm probably pretty difficult because I have pretty high standards and pay attention to minute details. Fortunately, Dan has similar expectations of his team and the quality of his work -- I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Here's a breakdown of my experience... PRE-CONTRACT There are a number of reasons that I chose CCB. The first is Dan's immediate follow-up to my quote request, the second is his professionalism and communication style, the third is his timeliness. Within two weeks of our initial conversation, Dan visited my home site, took measurements, proposed some initial designs and provided a complete, line-item budget for the project. CCB was one of three firms that I contacted, but only two followed up, and ONLY Dan followed through with the level of detail I needed to make a decision. DURING THE PROJECT: Project Management -- In addition to my initial project, I had an *insane* number of smaller one-off projects that I needed assistance with because we needed to modify the home to suit my family's special needs. I also did some "design on the fly" changes because of what I saw when I was actually living in the space. Not only did Dan find a way to incorporate these tasks into our timeline (even those that popped up at the last minute), he was able to schedule his team to accommodate my family's needs and concerns while keeping the bigger project on track. Communication -- Beyond the Builder Trend timeline app, Dan was also in communication with me almost every day. I always knew exactly what was happening, what was going to happen next, and when I needed to make decisions to keep the project on track. Dan's son was my project manager and he was on site almost every day, while the rest of the team cycled through as needed. We were always treated with respect, both in the way we were spoken to and in what was communicated. For almost every single step and by almost every single contractor, I was asked if I was happy with the work that was being done. If something wasn't what I wanted, they didn't hesitate to fix it right away. Quality -- Without question, CCB holds themselves to a level of excellence that shows. From the team's workmanship to the quality of the materials to their followup on minor details -- this is a firm that does high quality work and stands by it. When making an investment of this size, it's also reassuring to know that if there's ever an issue, Dan and CCB will honor their warranty and resolve it to my satisfaction. Budget -- I eventually got a competitive bid before I contracted with CCB, so I do know that they are not the lowest priced firm out there; however, I can say with confidence that you get what you pay for. When you work with CCB, you're getting a higher quality of work, respectful/timely communication, and most importantly--peace of mind that you're being dealt with honestly and fairly. POST-PROJECT: Dan already sent his team out to fix two minor issues that occurred after we wrapped the project. Communication was quick, easy, and the problems were fixed in a timely fashion. Hooray for peace of mind! I wouldn't hesitate to work with Dan and CCB again--they helped make this new house a home for my family.

Dan was completely honest with us. We showed him where the problem spot in our basement was and he started working it backwards to the outside of the house. There was never any pressure to hire him or any false promises of "I know exactly what is wrong with your basement". Instead, Dan said he was more than happy to handle all the prep/finishing work for our drain-tile project, but if it was his house, he would do just about anything to avoid tearing up his basement because it was such a headache. He made a suggestion as to how to determine if the water was coming from outside or inside. He said if it was coming from outside, he was pretty sure he could figure out a way to stop it from coming in. Turns out he was right. After figuring out that the problem was coming from the outside, Dan's son was able to literally create a barrier against the outside wall which ended up fixing our water issue. I can't say enough good things about Dan and his company. Rarely in this day and age do you find a contractor who actually steers you away from additional work. It was also refreshing that Dan didn't exaggerate or make some grand promises about how he was exactly sure what was causing the problem and guarantee that he could fix it. Instead, he was honest and said that he would give it his best shot and worst case scenario, we were right back were we were, but at least we knew we had tried a more cost effective solution before dumping $25K. We will definitely be hiring Dan for any future remodeling work that we have done on our house.

Everything went very smoothly from start to finish. I received a very detailed estimate and a calendar indicating what work would be performed on each day before any work was started. All workers were punctual and courteous. Everyone was very willing to answer my questions and explain each step of the remodel. The work was done in the time frame indicated before the start of the job. And I am very happy with the final product.

High quality workmanship by all members of the Country Creek team from designing to framing, tile work to painting. Dan designed and coordinated everything, the schedule ran extremely smooth. The subcontactors were highly skilled and professional, and CC allowed us to use our own electrical contractor, as he is a friend of ours. We were amazed at how quickly the project progressed, even dealing with some unanticipated water damage. We felt confident in Dan's son, Dave, who found the root of the problem and repaired the damage so it wouldn't happen again. Dan, Dave, Dan, and Jesus are all highly competent and efficient. Dave is especially creative in framing and trying to incorporate design elements into hiding venting in the lower level ceiling, and with executing arches and curves into the design. The team was timely, kept the site neat, professional, personable, and trustworthy. The stonework, tiling, woodwork, everything turned out beautifully. No project this big is without its bumps, however it's not the bumps, it's how they are handled. It was clear that they highly value customer satisfaction. We are so pleased with the final results.

We were very pleased with the service provided by Country Creek Builders. We appreciated Dan's process: working with us to determine what was important to us; developing a plan for the basement so we could visualize what it would look like; making adjustments based on additional discussion; and then providing us with a detailed cost estimate (so there would be no surprises) - this was all before we signed a contract. We love our new basement! The quality of workmanship is outstanding - from the custom cabinets, to the tile work, and the painting to name a few. Dan (and Dave) were also very willing to make creative adjustments to our original plan - from installing barn doors to removing a tile border that I didn't love. he was on time for the appointment, but the estimate was not received as promised. I had to email a few times to remind him and we still have not received our blue prints back. The cost for the estimate seemed a little out of the ballpark for the amount of work that we were inquiring about.

This is the 3rd project Country Creek Builders has completed for us. They have consistently done a quality job, on time, and within budget. Their work and level of service is excellent! During the planning phase of our kitchen and dining room remodel, Dan listened to what we wanted and asked questions that helped us think through all aspects of the remodel. They are good at providing helpful suggestions. For example, we had space in the hallway by our garage that was underutilized, and Dan suggested creating a "drop zone" for keys, wallets, phones, etc., that included a counter, two small drawers, an upper cabinet and a lower cabinet. This was a perfect solution to some lost counter space and cabinet space as a result of installing a new double oven. Our kitchen is much better organized, we have more space, and it is much less cluttered! We LOVE our newly remodeled kitchen and dining room, it is beautiful! Throughout the remodel, they responded to our questions quickly. The only change to the schedule was due to the custom cabinets taking longer than expected at the manufacturer. They let us know as soon as they found out, including an updated timeline. The estimate, agreement and invoices they provide are clear and explain every aspect of the job in detail. We trust Country Creek Builders to do a great job. They are the only contractor we've used for our home remodeling needs, and we will definitely work with them again for our future remodeling needs.
