Response from Country Creek Builders Inc
I am responding to your review on Angie's List. Regarding your comment about getting things installed correctly, I will agree that the granite was fabricated incorrectly the first time. The granite did not extend over the spice racks in the lower cabinets, which it should have. This was a miscommunication between the cabinet company and the granite company. You asked that the granite edge be flush with the spice racks, so I had the granite company produce drawings and go over them with you to confirm how you wanted the granite to look. You approved the drawings. I had the granite manufacturer remake and install the piece by the spice racks per the drawing that I had them produce. I had this accomplished three days after the original granite was installed. After the granite was installed correctly, and per the drawing, you did not like it. I showed you that the granite was per the drawing that you approved - even taking a speed square and lining it up with the granite and the face of the spice rack. You felt that the granite needed to hang over an additional 3/16". In order to accommodate your request, I had the spice rack re-made to give you the overhang to satisfy your request. You also asked that the Granite company come out and rotate the granite on the free standing island. You wanted us to rotate the granite so that a specific pattern on the granite was closer to the stove. Again, I accommodated your request and had the granite rotated at no additional charge. You then asked the Granite company to come out and remove a taco sauce stain that was on the granite. The granite company removed the stain and then resealed the granite. Again I accommodated your request at no additional charge. The base cabinet shoe that was made for your cabinets was not tall enough due to the unlevel floor in your home. We normally install 1/2" shoe around the cabinets base. I had 3/4" shoe custom made and installed. You did not like the look of the 3/4" shoe. I had three additional samples of shoe made for your approval. You did not like any of the three samples, but requested that I make a fourth sample - modifying one of the previous samples. I promptly made the shoe (ended up being a base wrap) and had it installed. Again, at no additional charge. Regarding the final invoice. You have refused to pay for the plumbing and electrical changes that were made during your project. When the kitchen was demo'd - it was discovered that all of the kitchen's electrical wiring was hidden in the soffits. We also found a plumbing vent hidden in the soffits along with a bath fan duct. Since the soffits were being removed for your project - all of these items had to be relocated. The plumber charged me $ 250.00 to relocate the plumbing vent, and the Electrician charged me $1560.00 to relocate all of the wiring. Your kitchen had to be completely re-wired because of the hidden wires. I re-routed the fan exhaust and did not charge you anything for this work. You stated that you would not pay for the additional electrical and plumbing changes. We we finished installing the natural stone on the fireplace on a Friday, you said you loved it. By Monday you said you did not like the stone, and felt it had cracks in it. I explained that this was a natural stone that you had selected, and this was the product. Because You did not accept my explanation I had the manager of The Tile Shop come out to your home to verify the quality of the stone. The manager informed you that this was the look of the natural stone that you selected. The manager even commented on the high quality of the installation that we did - and could not believe that we were able to install the stacked ledgestone on a radius hearth front. To confirm that this was the look of the stone, I drove to the Tile shop to look at the display - and the stone in your home matches the look of the display at the Tile shop perfectly. After meeting with you to go over the final invoice, you refused to pay for the electrical change orders and the plumbing change order. There were some credits that you asked me to give you on the electrical for items that were deleted from the project (recess lights not installed, fan not installed, ETC) I gave you credits for the items that we did not install, but you still refuse to pay the final bill. After our final meeting, you sent me a text informing me that you had left a stick of butter on the granite, and it melted and stained the granite. You then asked me to have the granite company come back out and remove a butter stain on your granite. I replied that until the final bill is paid, that there are no warranties. Additionally removing stains from granite is not a warranty issue - but rather a service call. I still have not received final payment for your project, even though it was finished at the end of August. Your final payment is $3,552.03 The estimate for you kitchen project was $61,876.53 ( estimate # 782). The final invoice for your project is $ 64,902.03 ( invoice # 711), The final invoice is $ 3,025.50 higher than the estimate. If you deduct the electrical and plumbing change orders that you refuse to pay for - the final cost of your project is only $ 1215.50 higher than the estimate. I take pride myself on doing high quality work and strive to satisfy all reasonable request, which I believe Country Creek Builders did on your project.
