G & K Floor Covering

Wonderfully. It helps in this case, to know that I had contacted other flooring folks who said they didn't remove ceramic tile....too difficult! Paul had me stop by and pick out a flooring. Then he came to my home and wrote up an estimate for the cost of removing the ceramic tile and replacing it with a lovely waterproof flooring from Homecrest. They also removed the ceramic trim around the room and replaced it with a really nice looking white wood trim. John did the removal and installation and did a great job. He even used the wooden trim to remake my vanity trim, and it looks so great! The underlayment on the flooring makes it comfortable to walk on. I love it. They made sure i had use of the facilities when needed, as a cancer patient, and were so thoughtful! I can't say enough great things about this LOCAL firm that takes such good care of their customers! Thanks, G&K Flooring!

The floors are beautiful. All the workmen arrived on time. They were courteous and friendly. They knew their jobs and did them with care and pride in their work. The price was reasonable. The company was responsive. They offered a service that other companies I contacted did not. I would employ them again.

Good tool broke had to return to finish the job

I have absolutely nothing negative to say. They were on time from the quote to the install. Great communication via email or phone. Scott took a TON of time to educate me in the store about options but never once did I feel like I was being "sold". The installer was experienced and did an excellent job. The price was comparable if not slightly less than the other quotes we got, but honesly, I was leaning towards them anyway due to their knowledge/professionalism and the feeling that I could trust them. I would totally recommend them to a friend and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

First we tried Lowes and were disappointed with the selection, price & service. So we visited G&K Floorings in Ypsilanti and they had much softer higher quality carpet (Mohawk SmartStrand Ultra) for about $500 less than the highest quality carpet at Lowes which was not as soft or nice. Plus the pattern choice was better. Our installation was scheduled only 9 days after we ordered. Lowes said 3-4 weeks. The installation went smoothly, The guys were punctual & polite. They took about 3 hours to install in basement and on stairs. They even fixed some other carpet for me for no additional charge. They did a good job and the carpet looks and feels great. I would definitely recommend this place and it is always good to support small local businesses rather than the big box stores.

It went extremely well. After ripping out the yucky carpeting in my new house, I had some pretty ugly concrete floors staring me in the face and was looking for some hickory engineered hardwood to have installed. My preferred installer was on a hunting trip so I could not do everything I wanted to right away, but I wanted one of the smaller rooms with good light exposure to be done as a test of the hickory flooring I found at Gand K. Nobody else I'd shopped at had this line, and I am so impressed with how professional this group is. I think the biggest compliment, besides the work itself looking terrific, is the excellent communication I received from Paul and Glen during the entire process. If you are shopping for hardwood flooring, you owe it to yourself to include Gand K on your short list. I am impressed with the installation and communication. I graded the price as B instead of A only because that's the last frontier for a well run business to focus on--how to continue the great service and selection at a lower price (but I am not complaining at all). Bear in mind you get what you pay for and that I would use Gand K again in a heartbeat--I feel I got superior product and service at a fair price.

All as expected. Did a very nice job.

We visited Gand K in Ypsi and man there kept store open for us to browse after their normal closing time. We discussed what we were looking for and set up an appointment for him to come to house and measure. After his visit (don't remember his name sorry!) We waited 3 or 4 days to get his estimate and although it was about 25% higher than we waned to spend we did believe the product was better than others we had shopped for. We happened to find Pergo on sale and went with another contractor, time was a factor in that decision.

Quote process: I called Cand K Flooring and asked them to come out for a quote on installing laminate on the first level of our home (foyer, dining room, kitchem, living room, powder room, and laundy room). Glenn set up a time and arrived on time. We talked over the idea and the type of floor we wanted. Glenn responded 1 day later with a very competite quote of $7,700. We were quoted for the same job by Esquire Interiors of Ann Arbor for nearly $14,000!! Follow-up: We were notified promptly that they needed to order more flooring from Armstrong and that the job could start in two weeks. Paul followed up, let us know the floor was there, and set up a date. He said it would take about 4-5 days in total. Installation: John and his soon-to-be son in law arrived promptly each day at 9am, and worked dilligently for the entire day each day they were here. Since we were already living in the house, there was plenty of furniture to be moved around and the two of them did it without complaining and had a well laid out plan of how to make it work. They were also very good about cleaning up prior to leavig for the day and never left us in a bind as far as workable space goes. Finished product: The floor look fantastic! No flaws that I have been able to decipher and would highly recommend Cand K to anyone looking for a job well done. Other: The $100 difference between the quote and final price was for some shoe molding that had to be replaced.

G and K did a wonderful job! Their service, competence, and products were great! They were very flexible with our changing needs. They moved furniture, removed old and put in new carpet and padding. Their advice was right on the money! The definitely surpassed the multiple sales offers at big box places when it came down to the end. Their showroom is buried on a side road. Don't give up, the service is worth it.

The company owner was a super nice guy, I do not want to hurt his identification, but he was also pretty high in his pricing. I ended up not going with him mostly because the flooring that I chose, both the carpet and the hardwood that I went with, he did not carry either one. He was very responsive and very punctual. He seemed very trustworthy. I liked him a lot.

What a knowledgable, helpful and easy to work with company! Our floors look great. Scott the sales person was our first contact in November and we found him very knowledgable - he asked great question. We then met with Glenn and Scott to look at samples of flooring. Chris and John repaired and refinished our existing oak floors and did a great job. Yet another Individual named John installed our cork and other flooring, impressing everyone who's walked in and looked at the floors. Paul, in charge of schedule coordination for materials delivery and installation was great to work with in terms of clear communications and responding to any questions by phone or in person immediately. I'd recommend this company and their employees in a heartbeat and would use them again in the future.

They are really good. They were very professional. They were very courteous. They know what they were doing. They were trustworthy. Their price is above my budget. I probably use their service.

We visited Gand K showroom (a little hard to find, but worth the effort) and spoke with Scott. He was helpful, knowlgeable and has a good sense of humor. He even stayed late since we were still still trying to decide between multiple options. We narrowed it down to two options and they loaned us samples to bring home to see in the room. We then visited a competitor to look at some additional brands, but preferred two of the styles from Gand K. Scott then visited our home and made measurements (good to confirm our measurements, and then the risk is on them if there is a mistake). He provided a detailed estimate (he had provided an approximate cost previously, but updated it once he had confirmed measurements). We paid a deposit and they ordered the material. It came in very quickly. We were not ready for the installation, so waited several weeks. Then, they came out and installed it. The installer was quick, pleasant and professional. The flooring looks great.

There was a concern that the humidity would cause problems with the wood and so the company had us sign something that would remove any culpability from G and K with regard to problems that might arise due to this issue. After several weeks of thinking and assessing and asking around on our part, we signed it. They got started on the floor and finished it as they said they would. They were punctual and professional. Also personable. Our dining room wood floor was a decade older than the new floor, yet they made it look like one new floor. It turned out really nice.

The showroom was very helpful and tolerant of my taking time to select the color and pattern and loaned samples for me to take home.Installers were on time, and efficient. At my request, they adjusted the cut in one corner.Other than the bump, we are happy with the job.

I wanted a nice enough neutral carpet that would appeal to most buyers and a good pad so it would feel great. Glenn was able to advise me on what people buy most often and why. He didn't try and get me to buy a better carpet than I needed, he answered all my questions and offered some very helpful advice. Gand K also carries "green" padding which was very appealing to me. He was out to measure promptly and the carpet was installed within one week. I can't speak to removal of old carpet (we did that) but the rest of the process with Gand K went well. The whole upstairs looks fabulous! My only suggestion: I would have liked a receipt that was more detailed, breaking down the cost of carpet, pad and installation seperately. If requested, I think they would do that for a buyer.

They were significantly more expensive than anyone else we invited. The first thing out of their mouths was concern over lead, asbestos and "black tar" and how giving a price would be challenging. In speaking with other vendors, no one recognized this as being a valid. Their price for a small portion of our floors was more expensive than a price given by another vendor for the entire house. We discarded them very quickly due to the significant price difference between them and everyone else.

The owner stayed open beyond normal weekend hours so a friend could help me decide on products. The installer was prompt, efficient and exceedingly helpful. He even helped move some large items back in place when the floor was finished. GOOD JOB!

The project that I want to get done is as a result of water damage. They were great since they were willing to work with the insurance company and match the price. They actually gave me a better deal than they had to. I think they quoted around $2600, but I am not positive about it. The process has not yet been completed. I had used them before when I had remodeled my kitchen and I was really happy with them. I thought they were really good. They were very fair with their pricing. They did a really nice job with my kitchen. So that’s who I immediately thought of when I needed to do the flooring job. My experience has been excellent all around. They have been great about communicating with me. I wanted to go with a different material this time for the flooring. I did laminate instead of carpeting which is what the insurance company was paying to replace. So they worked with me on selling me the material and not installing it so that I could afford to get the laminate. So I am actually installing it myself. Every salesman that I worked with and the people who delivered the product were all great. They were always on time. They kept me informed. The delivery person called and told me that he was running late and then called me again to tell me that he was in the yard. They were terrific. I would never hesitate to use them again and I have also recommended them to my friends.

Installation was fairly simple because the subfloor was in good shape and needed no special attention. After installation the floor was sanded, stained and three coats of polyurethane was applied. The stain was a fairly close match to the the rest of the wood floors in the house.

The overall experience went very well. The sales people were extremely helpful, and knowledgeable, answered all our questions, and set up an appointment for estimation without any fuss once we choose a carpet. They came over and were very prompt in both their estimation appointment and their installation appointment. They took no more or less than their estimated time, and were very clean - cleaning up after themselves, and their work was absolutely incredible - especially with all the difficult cuts that we had on our stairway. All in all they did a top notch job with extreme professionalism.

The people who did the estimate, the scheduling and the installation were all professional. The estimates and installations were on time and every time there was any follow up, it happened in a timely manner. The installer for the Marmoleum was very professional and detail oriented. He obviously took pride in his work and the results show this. My new floor looks great! I'm happy to pay for work that is professional and well done. Gand K Flooring did a great job on both counts. I would highly recommend them.
