Blanket Insulation Services

Upon purchasing the Angie's List "Big Deal" for $59, Blanket Insulation contacted me right away. They sent a packet of material to my house including the photo of the technician who would be performing the audit. Greg, the technician, spent over 3 hours going through my house and making comments about performance and efficiency. While he was very professional and polite, it became very apparent to me that this company was not going to be able to resolve the issue I called them for (very cold Master Bedroom/Bath) - an assessment agreed to by the technician. At the conclusion of the audit, I was presented with a list of work for over $3,000 that did not address my primary concern. When I dug into the cost details a little further, they are charging labor rates in excess of $200/hour!! I thanked them for the audit but could not hire them to do work on my house due to the excessive labor rates that far exceed any skilled labor in the home improvement market. Given that they could not resolve my issue and that they charge what I believe are outrageous prices for their work - I cannot recommend this company. The only tool in their bag seems to be insulation, so if your problem cannot be fixed by application of foam and/or other types of insulation techniques, then you will be wasting your time (as I did).

They were professional, timely and efficient. Because of extreme cold weather on the initial visit they needed to return to reseal any areas that had shrinkage due to the cold. The second visit was shorter and the job was done well. They were careful to protect our floors with plastic and wore covers over their shoes. They were very careful to vacuum up any falling material. The only thing we noticed after they left was in the basement. They had to move some boxes and other stored items. My husband found a container of screws that had been knocked down and the screws were scattered on the floor. We understand accidents can happen, but would have appreciated if they would have told us. Otherwise we were completely happy with the work.

Kevin Leshley arrived late for our appointment. (He did call after our scheduled time & explained that his prior appointment ran over the expected time frame & apologized for the delay) When he arrived we covered my expectations for the visit & he explained what the evaluation consisted of. I was informed that the inspection would work best with access to the attic area as well as under the home. (I had not been informed of this when they called to make the appointment. & was not prepared) Once we got started Kevin explained many details of energy loss in each of the inspected areas covering them in detail. He did an excellent job of informing me of problem areas & potential remedies. He seemed incredibly knowledgeable & our conversation was very educational for me. (exactly what I was looking for) After inspection 2 separate attic areas & under the house, we looked at images of the home with a heat sensor, again Kevin explained what we were looking at from an energy perspective. Once I had a thorough look through the house, he started a fan which brought air into the home (as opposed to the normal loss of air from the home), which allowed us to see on the imager areas that were different from our prior inspection. Kevin is incredibly professional & knowledgeable. His approach to this evaluation is exactly what I was looking for. His insights give me a direction to go with respect to resolving some issues, assured me in other areas, & informed me of areas of attention I was not aware of. His thoroughness certainly explained how his prior appointment could run over the scheduled time. Kevin represents a company called Blanket Insulation which either was not explained in the offer (or I overlooked), and normally when someone is trying to sell me a product, I feel that I should not be paying them. This evaluation was thorough & professional. The visit covered my expectations & because of the knowledge & professionalism of the representative, I feel as if I have received value for my investment.

The guy was awesome. He was honest. He was on time and very nice.

They were timely and very good about calling to fix an appointment. I felt that the energy exam could have encompassed a little bit more than they did.

All services were performed as advertised. Overall, I was happy with the analysis provided and it identified all of the problem areas that would need to be addressed to improve the energy efficiency of the home. My only complaint would be that we were not informed in advance of how long the process would take. Blanket had to come out a second time because my wife had to leave 2 hours after he arrived. The first visit duration was just over an hour. The second appointment lasted another 3 hours to perform some additional inspection, take pictures and run the imaging and blower door testing. You will need 3.5 to 4 hours of time to effectively complete this service.

He arrived on time, went through the house with me, making suggestions as we went. He performed the door blower test, to find air leaks in the house, and checked the insulation in the attic. We had added insulation and a new boiler about 4 years ago, so he didn't feel we needed their services for more insulation. But he did suggest some improvements that we could make ourselves inexpensively, and I really appreciated his honesty and not trying to sell us services we didn't need. Will definitely recommend them to anyone needing insulation!

Everything went very well. They were also very helpful in identifying possible rebates I would qualify for from the utility company. I would absolutely use them again.

So far, it’s very well. They have done the installation and now we are seeing the results and so far we are satisfied. We can see a difference. So far we noticed the difference. They showed up on time. They did what they said they were going to so and they did it all on one day.

It went well blanket was real polite. One thing that blanket did not do is tell me how many rebates I would qualify if I used them. Blanket is a certified contract for Consumers and DTE energy. Please note to get rebates for air sealing, home energy audit, and insulation for DTE you must FIRST GET THE ENERGY AUDIT THrough an APPROVE contractor which Blanket is. Then you have to review the items they suggest for you to fix, and then get another energy audit to show how much your energy has improved. In all if blanket had of been a little bit more competitive on the price I would have allowed them to do my work.

Our great room was always cold. Previous owners had put an addition to create a great room. There was no crawl space access under the addition. Workers cut a hole in the subfloor (we were expecting that) to work. We had a crew of 3 men. They spray foamed all the rim joists, and laid 2"Silverglo up the walls and floor . They took pictures. Then repaired the floor. The room was already noticeably warmer. The second part of the job was to insulate the attic over the addition. The salesman said they would have to cut a hole in the ceiling inside the great room to do the work as there was no roof access. I was going nuts trying to figure out how to deal with a hole in the ceiling , where it should be so we had access. and how to repair it asthetically. When Matt came he said that was a terrible idea. He would do it from the outside and added a roof vent to finish the job. It was perfect.He took pictures and our room is much warmer. Matt is a builder so he could deal with all the construction and building repairs. Now for new carpeting and paint.

The guys from Blanket Insulation did a wonderful job. I hired them to spray insulation in the crawl space under an older addition to my house. They actually walked through my basement and sprayed insulation around the perimeter as well. They were very courteous and professional and I am happy to recommend them. Also, their estimate was considerably less than others I had received for the same work.

After several attempts to schedule and reschedule the work, two employees came to the house and performed the work. They were courteous and professional, worked clean and did the job in on day. About a month after the guys left, we noticed the spray foam insulation "leaking" down the wall in the basement in places. We called Blanket, and they sent out a tech to look at the work, and deemed the spray insulation was done incorrectly, and needed to be redone again. I'm not sure the reason, but it sounds like the mix was wrong. We scheduled a return visit, and Blanket sent out one tech to re-do the basement work and clean uo the mess. This job took 2 people all day to complete. We called to ask about this and need to have the repair rescheduled. 11-2014 update: We have yet to get the repair completed, and I went and inspected the work again: There is a COLD DRAFT coming in around the sill plate in the basement, the very reason we had the initial work done! Disappointing.

Fantastic company. Very easy to work with as far as scheduling, and when they did the initial inspection appointment, he pointed out a few other fixes that were needed in the attic, and presented a VERY reasonable price for the repairs. On the day of service they were on-time, worked quickly, put up with my very annoying dog, and cleaned up so well that I had to ask my husband (who was there for the service while I was at work) if they had even come that day, because there was no trace of them in the house. Really fantastic, and I will use them again if I need attic repairs/service.

Please read until end!!! The technician did a good job until he made a mistake during his inspection which caused an issue in our home. The fireplace was not sealed off when he de-pressurized the house, which is part of the energy assessment, as a result there were ashes which were blown into my living room. The tech and I spent about an hour cleaning the mistake, needless to say, I was not very happy. Even though, I did not make a "stink" about this initially, about 6 months later, I got an email asking for a review which I responded to with this information. About 5 minutes later, I received a call from Blanket Insulation about the issue. After I told them what had occurred, they insisted that I have my carpets and couches cleaned thoroughly by a professional and that we send them the bill which they would re-imburse us for! Blanket Insulation was only concerned about doing the right thing. There were no strings attached. I am a very busy guy who usually does not have time to write reviews good or bad, but I had to share my experience because I believe it is a rare thing to find a company who would care enough to do this! Although, we have not spent the money to do the full insulation package, when we decide to pull the trigger on it, we will look no further than Blanket Insulation!

One word AWESOME!!! I mean WOW! I am a picky consumer. I can tell you from the time of making the appointment with Erin, with the blower door test with Greg and the final part of air sealing the attic, blowing in the cellulose and sealing the rim joists this is A FIRST RATE COMPANY!!!! This company is efficient, accommodating and they are perfectionist!!! The crew Matt and Jay were fantastic. They worked non stop, had a plan and executed that plan to perfection. They cleaned up and you did not even know they were there....except for one thing,....my house IS WARMER! I noticed an immediate difference last night and it was windy and cold outside. If I could give 100 stars I would. If anyone wants to blow cellulose into your attic or crawl space and does NOT air seal first that is malpractice. I had another quote from another company and they did not want to air seal the attic first quote "we don't do that we just blow in cellulose". If you don't air seal first there is no way that putting more cellulose is going to be more effective. This company knows their business like no other company. You won't be disappointed. It was money well spent. Do it right the first time, spend the money. I thought for what I paid it was worth it. Also you receive rebates from Consumers Energy for doing this and they take care of all the paperwork for you. A win win situation. Now hire them, sit back enjoy the warmth and get your rebate in the mail! A warm heartfelt thanks to Erin, Greg, Matt and Jay for a wonderful experience. ALL companies should be like them.

They did a great job! It took them all day to do my attic. They ran into a few unexpected issues, but they did what they had to do. They were very professional. They sent 2 techs.

The work and scheduling were both fine. They were here right on-time. The quality was really good and I was happy with everything. The time the work took seemed reasonable

I would definitely hire this company again. Very professional and answered all our questions. Report on improvements for heating and cooling was very detailed. The technician tried to also educate us on the details of the assessment. Excellent work.

Did the rim joist in my basement. Job well done. Will be using them in the future

This worked out well. They were excellent. Everything met expectations or exceeded them.

We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff thrift the entire process. From the estimate to the management to the workers, everyone was kind and courteous. Never did we feel like we were being pressured into buying anything. Blanket Insulation also helps process the rebate applications with the energy company, which helps take away confusion or frustration that could arise. We would definitely recommend to a friend.

They arrived on time and did a nice job with the evaluation. They gave an honest assessment and didn't try to push services that weren't needed.

Greg was a professional from beginning to end. There was approximately a 2 month period between the estimate and the work but they still honored the price. I retained the service because my home would lose heat in the winter and cold air in the summer. Greg came about 20 minutes early to brief me on the work that would take place, the timetable and the rooms they would need to access. They completed the work in a timely fashion. I went through with the estimate and checked off everything I paid for. It would appear all the work was completed as promised. The staff was personable and made sure to clean up after they completed their work.
