Bob was consistently eager to please in the early stages. However, he seemed to be in way over his head. I believe he underbid and had no idea how to recover, thinking I'd be more angry with price changes than with a shoddy result - without asking me or offering a choice. He has good wood design ideas and carpentry skills, and did some tough work putting in a massive custom new front door (which his flooring guys proceeded to ding up a couple weeks later). In the early stages he was eager to please, occasionally doing extra work to accommodate our design ideas or uncertainty. It became apparent later on that he didn't communicate well, tended to hire contractors off Craig's list (I could do that), and didn't supervise when they were here (I could do better). He started lying when he ordered trusses before measuring up to existing roof, installed all and ended up having to tear them off with sheathing after I insisted "no, a single roof surface with two pitches and two heels is not a desirable feature!" I can't count the number of times I told him how I wanted something done, and then his guys would do the job in some shortcut way totally unaware of what I had asked for. The project was promised in 6 months (admittedly ambitious), and we fired him after 18 months due to excessively shoddy quality on punch list items remaining (~20k remaining). My kids even started asking all sorts of questions like "why is this taking SO long?" and "are you going to sue him?" I will never consider working with him again, and I'm pretty sure my kids will never do a major house remodel after this. A few examples of issues from memory: - non-matching trusses ordered, all installed anyway, tried to tell me they were intended that way...??? - missed multiple scheduled meetings with me where I took off work, no notification - did not pay multiple contractors after I paid him (for [1] baseboard heat and [2] HVAC - more?) - left our house without a roof for 6 weeks, which then had $20k flood damage when a tarp blew off in a thunderstorm - then gave me a hard time when I called insurance to dry it up. - recommended a flooring guy who took 5 months to do a terrible quality finish after trying to pass wood that was 4 grades lower than what we paid for. Paid $2k to refinish floors after him. - mason put down reclaimed brick pretty far out of square, no option to redo since brick is out of production and already reclaimed once. Mortar way off color - he installed $10k fireplace, doesn't work, now out of warranty and he wasn't willing to pay for service - masonry install was so messy required $300 out of my pocket to clean up spills and debris. - cut existing roof trusses too short to fit on girder hangers; I had to call this issue out myself - drywall cut outlet & light fixture holes way oversize, rework was amateur & required re-rework by me - didn't bother with galvanized nails for exterior trim - rust streaks on carpentry - outdoor faucet drilled into concrete 2" above ground level; no room to hook up hose, not mounted securely - no shutoff provided for outside faucet with no freeze protection - roofing had exposed nails across entire ridge - interior carpentry for mantle left face screw dead center near wall When I complained to him about issues, he would just get frustrated that they didn't do what he told them and say it's hard to get good guys. But he'd be offsite while they were working... He asked for money significantly ahead of schedule near the end; I am glad I didn't pay him more than I thought I was willing to risk. The next day his pace slowed to a crawl. Every job has a punch list at the end, but he just didn't care by then. He did keep working at a snail's pace on the punch list for 6 months until I told him to stop, because the quality of every single item addressed was so low it required rework. I didn't want him in the house. He has zero supervision skills and very little conflict resolution experience (he just lies, blames, and cuts corners when it gets tough). He does seem to be a decent finish carpenter on days when he cares. However, we're having a really hard time getting other tradesmen to clean up his mess and close the job out. The process continues...

Our company subcontracted a job in 12/2015. Work was completed in full and Mr. Jorgensen was paid in full by homeowner, yet we still have not been paid. He ignores any type of communications that we have tried to have with him. Beware of these work ethics...
