Description of Work: I purchased the "inspection" advertised on Angie's List. The young man was prompt and pleasant. He looked at my concern in the basement and explained how it could be repaired. He started to write out the estimate and I asked about a "foundation and masonry inspection", which is what I thought I had purchased. He then walked around the exterior of my home and pointed out a few failures in the masonry, and told me the areas would need to be tuck pointed. He then wrote up an estimate. Although I am happy with the estimate and may in fact pursue the work suggested based on this company's rating on Angie's List, I feel as though I got very little for my money. Most companies that want my business will give free estimates in order to secure business rather than asking for payment to tell you what you need to have done. When I saw "foundation inspection" I guess I thought I was getting more expertise than someone walking around the outside of my home for 5 minutes.

Description of Work: Removed about 4 ft of brick and replaced and changed the formation of the brick. Redid cap also.

Description of Work: Chimney Cleaning. I was contacted within a day via email, and by phone a few days later. He was running late for the appointment, but called to let me me know. I asked for a quote for some further work that needed to be done, which he was able to show me clearly where/why it needed to be corrected. I felt the quote was extremely fair and will use them to do this work in the future. Overall, I highly recommend them, and have actually referred another neighbor to them already!

Description of Work: Keven and his helper inspected and cleaned two fireplaces/chimneys and verified that a third was in good condition. He also offered good advice on potential future masonary maintenance needs. They were friendly, courtious and cleaned up after theirselves. I would definately recommend them and would use them again in the future.

Description of Work: Brick Concepts fulfilled an Angie's List Deal coupon at our home for two chimneys. Ken was initially difficult to get ahold of, but once we booked the appointment, he was punctual and informative.

Description of Work: Cleaning of fireplace, major repairs to the chimney, application of new cap, masonry repairs to home, caulking of windows and 120 feet of siding.

Description of Work: The company was scheduled to clean our chimney and were to be out between 10:00am and 2:00pm. No show and no call. We called after a while and left a message on the answer machine to call us. No call. About 1/2 hour later I called and someone answered and said he would call the person who was to come out. The person called back and gave us a time he would be out and said he was running behind. He did apologize. He did an inspection of the chimney and other bricks around the area. Very pleasant young man. When he came into use his vacuum I told him the furniture was new so I would cover it. He said his vac was new and it shouldn't be a problem. Well it started blowing dust out. He turned it off, tried to work on it and decided he would clean the fire place brick by hand. He did a nice job over all. I will consider them for some masonry but not sure if I will have them clean the chimney again in the future. My husband says he would use them again.

Description of Work: Ken first inspected the area of the basement where I knew water was coming in. He explained everything as he proceeded to test the walls, how water deteriorates the morter between bricks, how it occurs, etc. I followed him throughout the inspection both inside the basement and out. He explained the process of repairing the wall, as well as what would be needed to be done to prevent the water from coming in again. I also had him look at the front porch that showed areas of degeneration as well. Ken wrote a very detailed proposal, listing every step of the process for each area and what each area of repair would cost (cellar/basement, back porch, front porch). We discussed when he would be able to have his crew come and do the work. We agreed on when the work would start. Ken and his crew showed up on the day we agreed upon, but were delayed due to reasonable circumstances. All the workmen were very pleasant and respectful. The work proceeded as planned until it was discovered that there was more damage when the area outside was dug up and the foundation below grade was exposed (two feet down). Ken showed me what he had found, and wrote another proposal detailing the extra work that needed to be done to keep water from getting into the basement. He was apologetic. There was actually no way he could have known the extent of the damage until the area was dug out and the outside of the foundation was exposed. It appeared that a former owner had tried to repair the area but had not used the proper materials to fix the problem, which made it worse. I suspect that was done just before I purchased the home. The work proceeded as outlined. Due to the increased cost, I canceled repairs to the front porch and it was not as urgent as the basement repair. Ken explained what might happen if the work was not done, but accepted my decision. He actually caulked the area around the front porch to slow the degradation of the brick until I could afford to have that work done. The project was completed on time and was done very well. Ken and his crew worked diligently to have the repair done on time and were very respectful throughout the process. I am extremely pleased with the results of the work and the extras that Ken and his crew performed.

Description of Work: We have a Tudor house with two very tall chimneys that needed brick work ,cap and crown repair. The chimneys are very tall and hard to get to. Also we needed Tuck pointing around the house and we needed similar work for our front step. We went though several ,just look around ,soft proposals and eventually we used AngiesList . We decided on Brickconcept LLC and we called them. They were very pleasant and responded quickly. We had the very likable,knowleageable and easy to get along with salesman ( Louis Pickner) Later on we found out that he is a man of all trades and without him the work would not have been completed. He climbed those chimneys, layed the brick did the tuck point, poured the cement and installed the flue.We could not belive his agility and workmanship. He worked with a very nice brick layer ( Randy McCoy) Meticulous, precise and a good teacher( I learned a lot from him and he did not mind my many questions. Louis Pickner had a tragedy in his familly and despite that he came and completed the work. We are happy with their work.They cleaned the roof,washed it and got rid of all the debris. Despite the fact that it was a pricey repair,we feel that the job was nicely done and it was worth it.We highly recommend them for future customers. F.Eskandari M.D.

Description of Work: I had water coming into my basement and knew I was going to need to call more than just your average basement waterproofer since my leak was coming from behind my porch and some major cement work would be required. I called several people to come out for estimates and Ken (the owner)was the only one that took the time to explain every step of the process and exactly what I was going to be charged for and documents it all. The guy knows what he is talking about, doesn’t give you scare tactics and does not talk to you like you are an idiot. During the evaluation of my issue we discovered I had a blocked downspout drain pipe that was most likely the culprit of water coming into my basement and I have decided to hold off on the waterproofing project for the time being, let it ride and see what happens after a couple more big rainstorms. This may be a major mistake on my part but when I explained my situation (the usual finances are tight for everyone right now) to Ken, there were no hard feelings or pressure and I am definitely keeping his number in case I need him for any basement waterproofing or masonry work in the future. Companies like Brick Concepts are the reasons why Angie’s List works, especially when you need work done like this. There is no need to open your house to a bunch of shady people that you are unsure if they are just scaring you into paying for a huge job. No need to shop around, just sort by the companies with the highest ratings pick a couple and be confident you are getting the best work done for your $$$.

Description of Work: This company came out to give me an estimate for work I needed done to replace my front porch. I was given a quote in writing, the following day I was contacted by phone telling me I needed to have extra work done to do the job properly. It was something I had already asked about while the company was here to give me the quote. ( i.e. replacing the ENTIRE porch instead of just one half of the porch.) I was told at first "why replace it if it isn't broke", yet the next day received the call saying now I needed the entire porch slab done. In addition, I was told work was also needed on the brick work of the house requiring some tuck-pointing. If I agreed to use their company, this work was to be done for "free" The quote was considerably more than the company hired for the job to be completed. Several days later I received a call from another person from the company saying they were sorry they had not come out sooner to give me a quote. As I was woken up with the call and was on pain medication, I did not realize that I had already received a quote from the company. The second person did come out the next day as agreed on, and it was only then when I looked at the truck's logo design that I realized that I already had gotten a quote from the company. I told the gentleman that I already had a quote from them. He did take the time to explain what was needed, the process that would be used, and said he would drop off a quote the next day. I never did receive that quote, possibly because I had already told him that I'd already had a quote.

Description of Work: Bought the coupon from Angies List for Chimney cleaning. The guy cancelled his appointment at least 10 times. Finally when he showed up he didn't even bring a ladder (to clean the chimney LOL) . He was more interested to sell other services than cleaning the chimney.

Description of Work: Brick Concepts did great work and the owner Ken was wonderful to work with. We had our brick chimney covered in new stone. However, this was the first and last time I will use Angie's List. I found the "fine print" hard to find, and would not have made this purchase if I had fully understood it. And, in the time between purchasing this service and having the work done, Angie's List took down all of the service description, leaving me only with information that I had paid $150 for $500 worth of masonry work. This led to unecessary confusion between the owner, the salesperson, the person performing the work, and me. When I purchase a service from Groupon, I can see a complete description of what I bought at anytime. Sorry Angie's List, I'm done with you.

Description of Work: It took me 4-5 phone calls to get them to return my calls, including an email to Angies List because I had purchased a Big Deal. One day they were cheduled to come to my house and had truck problems, and said they would still come and call me. After waiting 1 week, I called again,.Finally, Ken came and completed the work quickly. The work appears to be well done and there were no problems with clean up. They sealed the chimney, cau;led along the chimney and replaced 5 outdoor bricks and mortar. Ken completed some minor indoor mortar replacement without charge. Ken agreed to lower my estimate because of the follow up issues.
