 + -1 moreI was very disappointed in Precision. I feel that this big deal was just a ploy to come out and convince me that I need to purchase a very overpriced new door from them. I will not use the company and would not recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal coupon for $129 for a garage door re-conditioning and roller replacement through Precision Door Service. Before I purchased the coupon, I called the company to make sure the problem I was having with the door could be resolved through what this big deal coupon covered. I was lead to believe that the re-conditioning and roller replacement would solve my problem and that the only thing that would not be covered would be a handle/lock for the door which could be an additional $50 on top of the $129. When the technician came out to the house, he told me that there was much more wrong with the door than what this coupon would cover. He told me that, to fix the door that day, it would be an additional $468 and that I would be further ahead to just replace the door. The estimate he gave me to replace it was $790 which I thought was ridiculously high for a single garage door since I know two people who recently had their double garage doors replaced - one for $630 and one for $700. My son checked prices at Home Depot for a single garage door and I can purchase one for under $300. My plan now is to buy the door from Home Depot and my son will be installing it himself.

 + -1 moreAfter purchasing online through Angies List, I called them to schedule an appointment and was able to get one for the following day. Everything went according to plan. Now my garage door runs much smoother and quieter.
Description of Work: I took advantage of the Angies List Big Deal Garage Door Reconditioning and Roller Replacement. Technician gave me a heads up and called 25 minutes before arriving. New nylon wrap rollers and cables were installed, the door was realigned and 25 point safety check performed.

 + -1 moreThe quote they gave me didn't seem to be very official. It appears to just be typed on a Word document. My husband misplaced the quote they gave us, and I called them to have them resend the quote. In the meantime between July and now, I've shopped around and looked at other quotes. During this whole time, we've had to manually open and close our door. I injured my hand and had to have surgery. While recovering from my surgery, I called another company and had them come out and give me a quote on my door. This other company told me I didn't need need a new door, and he had my garage door fixed within an hour. As it turns out, the price for a new garage door Precision Door quoted me was double what the type of door actually cost. I would never use them. I would never recommend them. Since I've had my accident, I've made sure everyone knows it was because Precision Door told me I needed a new door. If they would have done their job and just fixed the door, my accident never would have happened.
Description of Work: I had called them initially in July because our door had broken. It would not go up or down, it just kept getting stuck. I called Precision Door out for a quote. He just gave me some rough figures and told me everything that was wrong with the door. He said I needed a new door, and he went back to the office and said they would call me back with a quote.

 + -1 moreI was able to get an appointment for the day after I called about my problem. The technician, Lou, called and asked if he could arrive early, which he did by arriving 20 minutes ahead of scheduled time. He had me explain the issues and then had me observe as he operated the door and then discussed the repair options as well as cost. I authorized the repair and he was done within 45 minutes. He them showed me the repaired items, explained what he did and then showed me how to lubricate the hardware. Lou was very professional and respectful of both myself and our home. In fact, he even hand wrote a thank you note for us - I have never had a repair person of any type do that. He cleaned up thoroughly after completing the job and made sure I was satisfied and did not have any additional questions. Based on this experience I cannot recommend Precision Door Service and Lou highly enough.

He was very kind and thorough with product information and wrote a complete estimate before leaving. No hard sell, but he showed that he was very interested in our business and satisfaction. The two men that installed the garage door were very professional and did a great job with the installation. I forgot to give Bill the Angie's List coupon for 10% off and they gave me the discount without a problem.

It took a while for us to decide and Bill was patient and never pushy. We finally decided on a style and it was installed 2 days early (yay!) yesterday and only two business days after we got all the paperwork finished. We love how the door looks and everything was installed very nicely. I had just cleaned out our garage and figured I'd have to give it another sweep, but I did not have to. They left no mess whatsoever. We had a new opener and garage door in just over 2 hours. Thanks, Precision!

Description of Work: At 4:30 pm Monday my garage door stopped working. I called Precision Door and they said they would be at my home first thing in the morning. At 10:00 am Tuesday they arrived. They replaced my old door opener (I decided to upgrade and put in one with a back-up battery) cleaned up and were finished in about 45 minutes. Frank, the installer, was polite, courteous and a quick worker. I am very satisfied with the vendor and their product.

 + -1 moreOn Friday my garage door opener was not working . Called Precision around 11 am. A service man came out around 3 pm and said that he could repair the opener. Then he noticed I had a broken spring, which probably caused the opener to fail. He gave me options on replacing the spring and the repairing the opener. Then we noticed that the garage door itself had tear in one of the panels, which was caused by the broken spring when the door came down. He again gave me repair options, never pushing me in any direction. I decided that I would have the whole system replaced. The service was scheduled to occur within about 2 days, and the team came out with the new parts exactly as scheduled. The installer was done in about 2.5 hrs. He did an outstanding job, from start to finish. Very Happy with the overall experience.

Description of Work: My husband asccidentally backed into our double garage door and bent two panels but the door continued to work well. After a few months of up and down, the panels were bending even more and the door wouldn't close unless we did it manually. Called Precision door on a Tuesday. Jeff and Stefan came out on a Thursday as scheduled. A few options were discussed, including replacing the whole door for $700 or stabilizing the panels with struts from end to end for $225, plus a $75 service fee. Went with the cheaper fix. They had all the needed supplies with them and were done with the repair in less than an hour. Both Jeff and Stefan were very nice and personable. We appreciated that they didn't try to push for replacing the whole door. And the fix worked! The bill came to $300, but they offered a 10% senior citizen discount, bringing the bill to $270. We would definitely call on them again for any garage door service. Great company! Great people.!
