 + -1 moreMitch's helper Bob, came all the way here from Livonia, and was out here within 15 minutes of our 10 a.m. appointment, which I had made the day before. He listened to our description of the problem, and was able to diagnose what was wrong, and refer us to someone able to take care of it. He did not charge us a penny, not even for the service call, and would not even take the coupon for $30 we downloaded from Angies List, saying "I didn't need to do any work, so you don't owe us any money." I am so very impressed with the professionalism and the honesty----anyone else would have at LEAST charged us the service call, and could have done unnecessary work and charged us an arm and a let for it. Thank you, Angies List for the referral to such an honest service.

 + 0 moreOur backup sump pump kept coming on, so we thought we should get the primary pump replaced. Since we do have the backup pump it wasn't an emergency. When we called Mitch the Plumber we got an answering service (it was Sunday) but he called back the same day. Someone came out on Tuesday and replaced the pump quickly and efficiently. We have a radon mitigation system so the pit cover was sealed. The plumber from Mitch's could not put a new sealed cover on as that is not a service they provide, so we had to call someone else to do it. Overall it was a positive experience.

 + -1 moreFor both services the service was relatively quick and professional and done relatively well. However, in one case there was a mistake - they replaces some of the pipes under our kitchen sink but wrapped one of the cords incorrectly around the pipe, so they had to come back to fix it. That said in both cases I was happy with the work. BUT I've called probably 5 times to get an estimate on various services and can never get Mitch to come out to do the work. So if you need small work that needs to be done quickly they are great. But if you need them to be on top of calling you back, giving estimates, etc for bigger work, then I don't recommend them. Ultimately I need a business that will call me back or schedule a time for an estimate without me begging them. So I won't use them anymore and will stick to other companies on this list that stay on top of their work and call me back.

 + -1 moreJoined Angie's list to get a recommendation because I have had difficulty getting a plumber in this area. Mitch the Plumber had good reviews, so I called a week ahead of time to request an appointment for a certain day when we would be in town. No call back. Called several more times over two days (while we were in town) to request an appointment. Left messages with answering service - never got a call back. Maybe I caught him during a busy week or while he was on vacation. But very disappointed not to hear anything back. Overall grade a "C" because unfortunately this seems to be the norm for this area. Sigh.

 + -1 moreMitch the Plumber did nothing because he neither showed up nor called to explain nonappearance on 7-24-13 until I initiated a call to his office to around 4:45 pm. H e a bit later with excuses about things being crazy busy, yada yada yada. Then rescheduled for 7-26 around 1 pm. I requested a call if he was unable to arrive around that time and he agreed to that. As of 2:50 PM, no show no call so I called his office and canceled service call. Mitch the Plumber showed up later in the afternoon and I sent him away. I do NOT recommend Mitch the Plumber.

 + -1 moreMitch and his guys are awesome! Sometimes it takes a little patience getting a hold of Mitch. He's got a phone bank answering calls/taking messages for him and sometimes you don't always get a response, but if you call his cell he usually picks up. For the price and quality they were great. I had a few other quotes come in between 2-3k. Mitch was the only one who seemed confident about the job - not only confident, but like he does them all the time - and he was the cheapest by far! The guys that did the work were super friendly and answered all my questions. I would totally recommend them anytime.

 + -1 moreCalled Mitch the Plumber after placing several calls to various plumbers in the area without getting called back. Mitch called back within 10 minutes of original call and sent someone out the next day (my preference). The plumber arrived on time and was helpful in answering all my questions/concerns. The drain was EXTREMELY plugged with a substance that was too icky to be described!! He had to snake the drain several times but finally the clog was free!! Many thanks!!

 + 0 moreThe drain had never been snaked, and I recently removed the garbage disposal ( I compost). The plumber used an electric snake and took at least 20 minutes to make sure the drain was clear. He was pleasant, on time and cleaned up well after he snaked the drain. This is the only plumbing service I use!

 + -1 moreAfter resetting one of the toilets, there was a leak from the tank onto the floor so he installed a flexible line that fixed that. The old kitchen faucet was the original from 1979 and it was extremely hard to remove but he brought in some heavy duty tools that finally got it off and installed the new one which is so nice. Had a little leaking into the basement from some pipe but he was aware of and told me about it so I could go to basement and move boxes around and mop up. After the other toilet was reset, it had big air bubbles coming up after flushing which lasted about a month. The reset failed after a month or so and water was oozing out from under the toilet. He came back and reset at no charge. Everything else went OK.
Description of Work: Installed kitchen faucet, bathtub spout and trip lever and reset 2 toilets. Also installed a new Fluidmaster that he discovered was needed.

 + -1 moreI called Mitch's Plumbing and made an appointment for "late morning" on Friday, March 29. At 11:00 am I called to see when they might arrive. Was told "in an hour". At 1:30 pm I received a call saying they would arrive in a half hour. When they did arrive at 2:10 pm, the crew was great. Fixed spigot within 15 minutes. My bill of $115 came down to $85 because of my Angie's List coupon. So...other than the unreliable timetable, my experience with Mitch's was a good one.

 + -1 moreBasement toilet had been wobbly since we bought the house. I removed the toilet, and determined that the flange was either in need of being replaced or a bracket fitted over it for the toilet to be stable. Mitch indicated that the plumber would be here between 7.30am and 8am, and they (Kevin & Chris) showed up promptly at 7.30am. They did the work, re-installed the toilet and were done in approx 30 minutes. Kevin & Chris were both very professional. I had used Mitch's Plumbing once before (leaking water main valve in the basement) on the recommendation of a friend. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Repaired the toilet flange in our basement toilet by affixing a repair kit bracket with four screws which had to be screwed into the concrete. Re-installed the toilet.

 + -1 moreOur shower faucet broke and would not turn off. My husband has installed shutoff valves before and started to work on it. He unfortunately used the wrong method with the materials that we purchased to fix the valves. Mitch was able to install the correct valves in less than an hour. I scheduled a return visit on 1/31/13 for the faucet replacement, 2 different men came and got the job done in 30 minutes. I knew they have to cut through drywall to get to the faucet, I was pleased that they didn't make a hugh drywall mess for me to fix.

Description of Work: I had some leaking pipes and a toilet running constantly. I called them during a holiday week and they came out the same day. It was not Mitch that came but another person. He tightened some valves and replaced the toilet tank plunger. It took a half hour total and the charge was $130. I was happy I had a $30 coupon from Angie's List. Next time ill know which nuts to tighten. I wasn't overly impressed but I would use them again.

They are honest, as they will repair instead of trying to sell you new parts where applicable. I thought I was going to need a new outdoor faucet, instead he repaired it.  + -1 moreSee above. I have used this company before - they are always prompt, experienced, professional and reasonable. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I had several "projects" - the toilet had a running problem - the plumber fixed it and also showed me what to do if the problem returned. I wanted my garbage disposal disconnected, and I had discovered the night before the trap was pretty much the original that was ready to let go. The plumber removed the garbage disposal, re-plumbed the kitchen sink with a new drain and trap. The last thing I wanted done was to fix a leaky outside faucet. The plumber explained that building code required a bit more fix than I thought and he offered to shut off the water and he suggested I consider having it fixed in the spring - which is OK as all the hoses are in for the winter now. Finally, he offered to dispose of the old garbage disposal for me, and apologized for the $10 fee which I thought was very reasonable.

 + -1 moreOveralll, I feel confident Mitch's did the plumbing for our house be cause I know it was done right and that he will be there if anything goes wrong.
Description of Work: Replumbed my house, changing from galvanized to copper. Also, Mitch's replaced a leaking outside pipe to outside water softener and created a new inlet into our kitchen instead of all the way around our house. Leaking pipe and new pipe into house were four feet under ground. When Mitch came to do the estimate and was accepted he said he would come back to cover the ground with hay to keep it from freezing which he did. The work was done on two very cold days in November or December but the ground was diggable. At a later date, when we decided to add on to our house extensively, Mitch did the plumbing of the new house and installation of the new water heater. It was mostly new construction and Mitch's company worked alongside the multitude of other contractors. Our builder commented to me that Mitch's plumbing had done a really good job on our master bath rough plumbing and the other plumbing in our new house. I felt Mitch's company was capable to do the kind of major plumbing work we needed. There was some hesitation because I would have wished I had gotten more professional information as to the common pipes vs. copper pipes, which is what we went with. Alll in all, I am happy with Mitch's Plumbing and continue to call them as we do the finishing touches on our dream home.

 + -1 moreThe service overall was fine, but didn't like the fact that the plumbers (there were 2) needed to use our buckets, rags, large trash bags, electric drill and shop vac. We expect contractors to come with the supplies one would expect to use for the job.
