Technician, Chris, said the furnace was shutting off (went off limit) because of the filter. When I said the filter was replaced 2 weeks ago, he said it was "too good". The pleats are too close together which is causing the problem. I told him that it was the same filter that the previous homeowner used, the same one another HVAC company said was a good one to use when they did a tune-up in October. He disagreed. "Why do the sell those filters?", I asked. His reply was "Why does anyone sell anything? To make money." So he told me to go out and buy cheap filters and avoid ones with 3 pleats/inch and that should fix the problem. I said it was a band-aid solution and there is something more to this problem. When he left I called the manager. Robin told me to try what he said and see what happens. She said the filter was probably dirty. I told her that the filter was new and the technician even wrote on the invoice that the filter was clean. She assured me that we have a 30-day warranty so they will come out free of charge. So I went out that day and bought the thinnest filters they sell at HD and put it in. Fifteen days have gone by and we have the same problem.
Description of Work: Furnace would not heat house over 62 degrees. Called home warranty company and they assigned Andy's. Technician came out to diagnose problem.

My experiance with this co. was excellent. Thay called and let me know that tech. would be out same day and Adam called to let me know he was on the way. He completed the job within 20-30 minutes and told me what needed to be replaced and even told me about another problem with rust being on coils.( I think he said coils.) Adam was polite and knowledgeable. He said if coil got cracks then carbonminoxide could escape. He even gave me an estimate on new furnace without me feeling pressured!
Description of Work: My furnace went out and Adam from Andy's Statewide had replaced ignitor. It took him 20 min. and I had heat again! I just want to say that my Home Warranty Co. called Andy's and that price is my deductable.

Actually, this vendor is subcontracted by the Brighton Mi Home Depot store. The agent there was Rachel Cheer (810) 229-0085. I wanted an estimate from them. Kurt Reinhardt called from Andy's Statewide and came out to give an estimate: Furnace only with 5" filter media. Price was $3054. Trane was recommended brand and Trane parts depot is right here in Brighton. I also got estimates from Lakeside and one other local contractor. I called to order the job, They called to confirm an appointment, arrived and brought it in. Blankets and floor protection plus shoe booties even. Set it in, ran gas and electrical and drains. Clarified a few code requirements, got it running, showed me how it worked, set the fan speed to a level that gave the best flow and cleaned up. Tie wrapped all the wires, fastened all the piping into the cement and walls. Brackets for the intake and exhaust lines, ran the thermostat wire thru the wallboard. They phoned in the requirements for the new air trunk connector to their own shop, he brought it out and presto: Done. Never would have known they were here. Now I'm picky about mechanical installations, but these 2 guys (Kurt and Gary) set a new standard for me. They had even preprinted the paperwork for the Consumers Power rebate and the Federal tax form for the energy tax credit. They sent a notice reminding me of the need to have the Township building inspection done. When the Brighton inspector showed up, he asked for the name of the installer, looked it over for 10 seconds, put his sticker on it and left. Apparently Brighton Township is familiar with the Andy's work quality and gave hem a very high rating and recommendation. Me too. The workmanship was/is exceptional. There are 2 furnaces in this house (upstairs and downstairs). You should see the difference between their work and the installer's from the other furnace done a few years ago. NASA vs. Rube....
Description of Work: Installed a downflow 95% Efficiency Trane furnace in my basement. Got permits, coupled to existing ducting, gas line and electrical. Intake and exhaust venting run at side of house. Combustion fluid residue piped into basement drain.

The initial estimate was done very well, we elected to get a second opinion on replacing the furnace after another company told us it would be close to $1200 to repair it. Andy's were working with Home Depot, and offered 12months same as cash along with some nice discounts. They estimated the repairs to be roughly the same (without knowing the original estimate). We discussed replacing the furnace with a new Trane multi-stage furnace, and the Andy's rep showed us all the rebates we could get from our Electricity and Gas suppliers, along with the Federal tax rebates available. Some of these we knew, and some we didn't. Once we crunched the numbers, the new furnace was barely more than repairing the old one. We set it up to have it done. The actual installation was a little troublesome - the installer actually managed to fall off of our roof and hurt his knee pretty bad - but the installation was completed and all the ductwork redone very nicely. The only thing I'd expected that didn't happen was the external intake pipe was left to pull air from the basement, rather that run out to the fresh air, but that was a minor issue, and nothing worth calling them back about. The township inspector commented on the neatness of the job they had done, and that in general, he'd had very little issues with their work in his area. Overall, very happy with the job - the furnace runs beautifully, and we would recommend them to anyone.

My furnace went out at the end of December. I was referred to Andy's Statewide by American Home Shield. Andy's service man determined the problem was caused by a dirty air filter, which made it my fault. I can accept that. He also promised a 24-hour turn-around. Five days and three times as many phone calls later, with a recommendation from American Home Shield that I sue Andy's Statewide, he finally came back with the missing piece. First I was told he was sick and didn't tell anyone to call me; then I was told it was a supplier problem. The repair man himself told me he couldn't believe how long it took the get the part. I was charged full price for the repairs after five days without heat in the middle of a Detroit winter. I will be taking Andy's Statewide to court. I wouldn't recommend this outfit to anyone under any circumstances. Pointing out that the invoice itself says "24 Hour Emergency Service" will get you nothing but a snotty retort from the "Customer Service" manager that "we don't control our suppliers." Well, Ford didn't make it's own tires during the Firestorm debacle, but they were ultimately responsible for it, weren't they? Stay tuned - I will post the outcome of the court case. Update: after posting a copy of the above review to Angie's List and the company's president and CEO, I got an apology and a 50% refund with a request to update my post to show Andy's Statewide's dedication to customer service.

WE WENT AHEAD AND REFUNDED HALF OF THE $165.90 REPAIR THAT YOU WERE QUOTED DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE TIME IT TOOK OUR SUPPLIER TO GET YOUR PART. WE RECEIVED THIS SERVICE REQUEST ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 6TH AND OUR TECHNICIAN WAS OUT ON THE 6TH. THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT YOU NEEDED A NEW LIMIT SWITCH AND ASSUMED THIS PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE AT THE SUPPLIER THE NEXT DAY. HE SHOULD NOT HAVE TOLD YOU THAT WE COULD BE OUT THE NEXT DAY WITHOUT FIRST CHECKING WITH THE SUPPLIER. THIS PART WOULD NORMALLY BE AVAILABLE, BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE LOCALLY. OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER CERTAINLY WAS NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE TO YOU AT ANY POINT, SHE WAS TRYING TO KEEP YOU INFORMED AS TO THE STATUS OF THE PART SITUATION AND TRYING TO ASSURE YOU THAT WE WERE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO EXPEDITE THE PROCCESS OF OBTAINING THIS PART. WE DID NOT WANT YOU TO THINK WE WERE BLOWING OFF YOUR SITUATION, SINCE WE WERE WORKING DILIGENTLY TO OBTAIN THIS PART. WE WERE TOLD BY THE SUPPLIER THAT THIS PART WOULD BE SENT TO THEIR PONTIAC BRANCH THURSDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 8TH. AS LONG AS WE COULD GET THE PART ON THURSDAY, WE WERE GOING TO COME OUT AND INSTALL THE PART. UPON FOLLOWING UP WITH THIS BRANCH THURSDAY AFTERNOON, THEY INFORMED US LATE IN THE DAY THAT THE PART DID NOT ARRIVE IN PONTIAC, BUT THAT IT WOULD ARRIVE FRIDAY MORNING AT THEIR HOWELL BRANCH AND WE COULD PICK IT UP THERE ON FRIDAY. WE DROVE A MAN FROM ORION TO HOWELL TO PICK THIS PART UP AND DROP THE PART OFF TO A SERVICE TECHNICIAN TO COME BACK TO YOUR HOME IN INKSTER. WE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WERE WITHOUT HEAT FOR A NUMBER OF DAYS AND WE DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY. WE WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO GET HEAT FOR OUR CUSTOMER. WE DO NOT FIND THIS SCENARIO ACCEPTABLE AT ALL. WE HAVE APOLOGIZED FOR HOW LONG IT TOOK TO GET YOU HEAT AND EVEN REFUNDED HALF OF YOUR REPAIR COST. THE SITUATION WAS VERY UNFORTUNATE AND WE UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATION. WE HAVE ALSO EXPRESSED OUR DISPLEASURE TO THE SUPPLIER FOR THE GRIEF THIS FAILURE HAS CAUSED ALL OF US.

This company's labor prices are ridiculous and they tried to charge me for a $1,000 part for my boiler that was covered under warranty. The Bryant boiler I bought from this exact company 4 years ago stopped working. I called and had them come out to check what was wrong. They were supposed to be there that afternoon and didn't show up until 7:30 pm that night. The pump motor had burned out and needed to be replaced. They refused to give me a date when the part would be in (though kept promising "any day"). It took a full week for the part to come in. During that week they told me the part wasn't under warranty, would cost $1,000 and when I questioned this they assured me that their Parts Manager had "double and triple checked" with Bryant to make sure it wasn't within the warranty period. I requested that they give me the part # so I could check with Bryant myself. They stated only the Part Mgr knew that and he wasn't in but would call me. Long story short, never called me for two days. I called Bryant w/o it and confirmed that all parts were under a 5 year warranty from installation. I called Andy's back and communicated this when I was told that the Parts Mgr still wasn't in. Within 5 minutes I got a call back from the "office manager" stating that they had just checked again (because their parts mgr was so dedicated) and the part was under warranty. I let them do the repair because I needed the part. Charged $135 per hour and a $25 order fee for the repair which is outrageous but even with that they even tried to not give me 15% discount on labor that had a coupon for (that they had mailed me previously). My conclusion is that these guys are either less than honest or incompetent-you judge for yourself-I know what direction I am leaning towards.

I woke up one morning to notice a small leak from the top of our water heater. During my dog walk, I noticed a Andy's Statewide van in the neighborhood and since I have had decent work from them before, I called their office and asked if that van can stop by after his current job. A few hours later they did and I ordered a new heater-- a Bradford White 50-gallon standard efficiency for $827 total. (It would have been $877 if he did not give me a $50 coupon!) A few hours after that, another employee from Andy's came with the water heater to installed it. Installation met expectations--the man was clean, polite, and efficient.

In my presence the technician called the home warranty company and gave them information for a replacement pan and coil that was the minimum work that he recommended needed to be done. He continued to recommend an entire replacement even though the home warranty would not cover an entire new system and left us with a quote of well over $6,000. He told us after checking on parts they would get back to us the following day. When no one contacted us we called the home warranty company two days later. We were informed by them that the technician had called back after leaving our home and informed them that there was nothing mechanically wrong with the system. The home warranty company was finally able to get in touch with the technician and was told it was only the pan that was needed. The home warranty company has sent a different company out for an evaluation at no additional cost to us and give us options for repair or replacement.
Description of Work: The company came to our home in response to a home warranty claim. They added some coolant to our air conditioner and had to call the home warranty company for authorization for additional work.

WE ARE SORRY FOR THE EXPERIENCE YOU HAD WITH US REGARDING THIS CALL FOR YOUR HOME WARRANTY COMPANY. WE RESPONDED TO A SERVICE CALL ON 6/28/07 FOR WATER LEAKING ON THE FURNACE. WE FOUND THE LEAK TO BE A FAILED COIL PAN. THE HOME WARRANTY COMPANY WOULD ONLY COVER THE COIL REPAIR. OUR TECHNICIAN PROVIDED OPTIONAL 90% FURNACE PRICING STARTING AROUND $2,600 FOR THE 24 YEAR OLD FURNACE IN POOR CONDITION. MANY OF OUR CUSTOMERS LIKE TO BE PROVIDED THE REPLACEMENT OPTION IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS DUE TO THE LIKELIHOOD OF FUTURE FAILURES AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO REDUCE OPERATING COSTS. HE ALSO PROVIDED OPTIONAL AIR CONDITIONING PRICING. OUR TECHNICIAN SPOKE WITH THE HOME WARRANTY COMPANY AFTER LEAVING THE HOME AND CONFIRMED WITH THEM THAT THE COIL PAN (IF AVAILABLE) OR COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH THE FURNACE. THE HOME WARRANTY COMPANY APPROVED THE COIL REPLACEMENT. OUR TECHNICIAN WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU WANTED TO HAVE THE COIL PAN REPLACED. HE ORDERED THE COIL TO FIT THIS APPLICATION AND THE COIL ARRIVED ON 7/2/07 OR 7/3/07. RIGHT AROUND THIS DATE WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM YOUR HOME WARRANTY COMPANY INFORMING US TO HOLD OFF ON ANY REPAIR DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CUSTOMER WAS LOOKING AT TAKING A BUY OUT. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, WE WERE INFORMED THAT A BUY OUT HAD BEEN ELECTED AND TO CANCEL THE JOB. IT SEEMS WE SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED YOU DIRECTLY, RATHER THAN GO 100% WITH WHAT WAS RELAYED TO US FROM THE HOME WARRANTY COMPANY.

Extremely satisfied with all aspects of experience with this company. From salesman Neil Busby on down to installers Doug & Shawn. All were very professional courteous and informative. Only and minor negative: Original quoted price of system was $5824.00. After I compared ''apple to apple'' systems from other competitors (i.e.- 90,000 BTU, 80% efficient,2 stage, variable speed furnace along with a 3 ton, 13 seer, Puron (r-410a) A/C unit), I found Andy's to be approximately $1000. higher than my best quoted price from other competitors. I then received a call from Andy's and was asked how they stacked up against the other quotes I had gotten, and I told them that they were $1000. higher than the other systems I was quoted and that I compared ''apple to apple'' systems. Andy's then told me that they would drop the price $1000., if I then agreed to have them do the job. Moral of story: It sure pays to get other quotes & compare ''apple to apple'' systems. I had 4 other quotes.
Description of Work: Removed old Furnace & A/C units. Installed new 90,000 BTU 80% efficiency, 2 stage, variable speed Bryant Furnace & 13 seer Puron (r-410a) 3 ton A/C System. Home is on a crawl and by my request they moved A/C unit cooling & electrical lines to another location by the side of my home instead of rear where old unit was.

The second serviceman arrived to install our new unit. He was over an hour late. I was surprised it wasn't the same person who sold me the unit. The installer was experienced with new construction installations, so he was unfamiliar with our 17 year old equipment. It took twice as long as expected to perform the installation. He was about to leave & I had to remind him that I was promised a new thermostat as part of the installation. This resulted in 2 phone calls to confirm, but I did get the thermostat. The A/C worked okay but did not seem as efficient as the old one. I noticed condensation forming on the new unit as well as large amounts of cold air leaking from it. I called for another service person. She told me this was normal but re-sealed the unit, slowing the leak. The unit still does not seem efficient, but with our hot spell, I am grateful for what I have. Overall, I am marginally happy. I would call them again for a repair, but not new installation.
Description of Work: Our 17 year old air conditioner stopped working. A serviceman came out the day I called, although he was an hour late. He was very professional and sold me on the idea that it would be better to get a new A/C than replace the condenser for 1/2 the cost. We purchased the recommended unit.
