all ok as far as i know. you see the condensation caused water to leak in the condo below mine. So far I haven't heard any more complaints from the lower condo owner.
Description of Work: He checked out the condensation on the furnace and made a recommendation. I needed to replace the hose that's connected to the furnace.

Their customer service has been going down. I have pipes that rattle in the basement every time I turn off a faucet, and I had to fight to get them to come back and see what's going on. They told me there wasn't any rebate for my hot water tank through Consumer's Energy, and I talked and they said there's actually a $75 rebate. We were charged $1000 just for labor. My husband called the owner and told him we didn't get our Angie's List 5% discount, but the owner just shrugged it off. Any time you can save a little, that helps. They used to be wonderful, but now I can't believe how their service has degraded. As soon as you pay with a credit card, it seems like you're stuck.

Dear Valued Customer, I apologize for your frustration and any inconvenience on my part. When I spoke with your husband about the rattling pipes it sounded as if the pipes were making this noise for some time before the installation. We also spoke about your husband wanting to possibly replace a pump. I am unaware that these noises have anything to do with our installation, but we are scheduled to come back to your home this week and will take a further look at the installation. At this time if the technician determines that the noise is caused by the installation we will take care of this for you as I value you as our customer and want you to be 100% satisfied. The rebate program is ran through the energy company and is subject to funds available, however I will be more than happy to process the rebate for you. We did give you a previous customer discount of 10%, the Angie's list offer is only 5% and cannot be combined with any other offers. Please call the office if you have any further questions or concerns and we will be happy to assist you.

I was in the process of purchasing my first house and during the inspection it was determined that the furnace would need to be replaced before the city would grant me occupancy. Dealing with a firm deadline of when I had to be able to move in, I needed to make the move ASAP. After closing, I had quotes from several heating and cooling companies but was unable to get financing. I found an Angie's List deal for a furnace install and called Harriman to get a quote. Steve came out and basically said that the furnace offered in the deal was junk. He did a fantastic job of upselling me to a much better unit. Handcuffed by time constraints and financing, I had to make the move and decided to go ahead with Harriman despite their quote being nearly $2000 more than the others. During the initial quote, Steve told me that the install would only take one day. He mentioned it again when everything was signed and official (Wednesday) and told me that he would be back out to do some quality control. He then told me that someone from Harriman would be calling me in the next couple of days to schedule the install. I didn't hear anything until I received a call around 9am the following Monday telling me that the installers would be at my house within the hour. Being at work, I asked what exactly they were coming to install and the woman on the phone told me "your furnace". I asked why I wasn't given any more notice and the woman told me that she called me on Friday to schedule it. I informed her that no, she did not to which she argued with me and then placed me on hold. After about 5 minutes, she finally came back and told me that she had confused me with another customer. Luckily I was able to take an incredibly early lunch to leave work and meet the installers at the house and they completed their work in about 90 minutes. As the installers were leaving they said that they would be back out on Friday to continue working on the install. Knowing that I would need to be at the house for the installers, I took that Friday off from work. I had also taken the following Monday off for other contractors. The installers were extremely punctual, waiting for me as I arrived at the house at 9. They did their thing but ran into some issues with pieces that were incorrectly machined. Shaine, the installer, let me know that due to this hiccup the install was taking a little longer than he expected. I asked if they would be done that day and he said they would have had to come back a second day regardless of the issues. When I told him that I was under the impression that this was a one day install he asked if someone told me that it would be. I let him know that my salesman Steve had said a job this size should be about a half day. Once the issues were ironed out, they continued with the install and things went smoothly except that the closer it got to 5pm, the louder the younger installer, Justin, was with his whining and complaining. As they finished up a little after 5, I asked Shaine if they'd be back on Monday since I had the day off already and he said that he might be able to make it since there was only a couple hours of work left but he was already scheduled for an all day job. He advised me to call the office first thing Monday to schedule the follow up, so I did. The woman who answered informed me that there was no way that Shaine could get to my house that day and that we would have to schedule the appointment for later in the week. Luckily I was able to get someone to meet them at the house because I was not going to miss more work for this install which I was told was going to be a one day deal. Shaine and Justin finished what they had to in less than two hours and overall, their work was quite good. They did leave a few pieces of debris that they missed during their cleanup, but other than that and the brand spanking new furnace and AC, you'd never know that they'd been there. The furnace passed the city inspection but there was never any follow up from Steve or anyone else at Harriman once the install was complete despite his insistance that there would be. While I am happy with the quality of equipment and installation, the price and poor communication/follow up from Harriman was just too much for me to use them again, let alone recommend them to anyone.

Dear Valued Customer, I just want to start off with saying I am sorry for any inconvenience and miscommunication that may have occurred with having your equipment installed. When installing a Furnace and Air Conditioning system it usually does only take one day to take out your old equipment and temporarily install your new equipment so that you have heating and cooling in your home on the day of your installation date. I believe the misunderstanding was that you were not made aware that metal would need to be sent out and made to completely finish the installation of your furnace. This is were the 2nd day came in. I apologize that in the case of your installation that when the metal was ready to be put on to complete the installation it was made slightly imperfect and was necessary to have it remade which resulted in the 3rd day. If you have any questions please feel free to call into our office and ask for the manager I will be more than happy to discuss your account and situation with the install process with you

It took quite a while to get them out to perform service provided. Per Harrison office due to their offered deal thru Angies list they were overwhelmed with calls. Of course I did not get this information until after I bought the deal. They were NOT prepared for the volume of business thru Angies List offer.

Tech came out to clean a/c unit. I had explained to the tech that the unit was not turning on even though the thermostat was past the temperature setting that it was supposed to turn on. The furnace would be running, but the ac would not. I left the tech to perform the work and was not standing over his shoulder watching him. He stated that my a/c unit was very dirty. I know that it had cleaned it last year, but I did not tell him that. He left me an invoice with parts that needed to be replaced. The tech did not bother to write down the model number or the part numbers that were needed. He wrote dollar amounts for parts and labor with a nebulous description of the part. Fan: $483 Blade: $151 PMC: $187 Time delay: $217 I asked him which would be more critical to replace. He said the "pmc and time delay" which would total $404. When I called around, other companies could not figure out what parts I needed when I gave them the part description the tech gave me. I called Harriman back to ask about getting part numbers so that I could look them up to see if it was something I could install myself. I specifically told the person taking down my info that I needed the specific part number and to leave a detailed voicemail because sometimes I am not always able to answer my phone. The person assured me that Dale, my tech, would call me with the info. The tech called me back and the end of the day and left a voicemail saying he called and left no part numbers of the parts I needed. I called back the next day again specifying exactly what it was I needed. No call came at all the entire day. On the third day I called early in the morning. The receptionist calls to tell me the tech is out on jobs now and can't call me. I explain to her that I needed part numbers only and that I didn?t need to talk to the tech. She goes on to tell me how they are not allowed to give me part numbers. I said ?I paid for your service. Giving me information is part of the service.? Again, she refused to tell me anything claiming it was their policy not to give out part numbers. REALLY? I have never heard of anything so STUPID in my life. How ridiculous. That would be like if you went into Discount Tire Store and they wanted to charge you $500 for a set of tires but refused to tell you anything about the tires you were getting! You would have no idea if the tires were good quality, low quality or if they were over priced. What kind of company operates like this??? Who would blindly shop like that and throw your money at something and have no idea what you are buying? Coincidentally, another woman called me about 20 minutes later asking me if I was satisfied with the service I received from Harriman. When I explained to her what was happening and that I was exceedingly frustrated, she offered absolutely no suggestions on how to remedy my issue. She pretty much said ?sorry? and hung up on me. I ended up calling Family Heating and Cooling. I was able to talk to a very helpful parts tech. I explained to him what was happening and what I needed. He said he?d call me back after he called the manufacture to find out the parts for my Amana a/c unit. He called me back he explained that one of the parts were obsolete and that Amana wasn?t even manufacturing them anymore. Furthermore, he went on to tell me that he could sell me one part that would replace both the other parts for $50 and that their service trip charge was $100. The service tech from Family Heating and Cooling came out and installed the part. The final bill was $150. Harriman wanted to charge me $404. What rip off artists!!! Of course you don?t want to tell me what parts I need so you can fully take advantage and rip me off the maximum amount possible. I will NEVER work with Harriman Heating and I?ll be sure to tell everyone I know to stay away from this company as they are disreputable, unethical in their pricing/disclosure of information and unscrupulous.

Dear Customer The other day the Manager also spoke with you and informed you that she would be more than happy to provide you with part numbers from our shop and that our parts have the labor to install included in the pricing, but as soon as the technician comes into the shop in the morning she would discuss this with him. You told her never mind. The manager also told you what the parts were when you asked her. I apologize that we could not come to some agreement as far as your system is concerned. Our job is not to sell you anything our job is to tell you what we find wrong with your system and We can fix as little or as much as you want us to. You unfortunately refused to fix what was wrong with your system at the time of service with us.

My A/C quit working Sunday the day before Memorial Day so I knew it would be difficult to get someone to check on it for a couple of days. Today (Tuesday) I called Harriman and to my surprise they said they could have someone out to look at it today! Technician Jesse arrived and quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown fuse and fixed it within minutes. He mentioned that it could have possibly been caused by a power surge and suggested that I may want to consider a surge suppressor at some time in the future. There was never any pressure to do so but to keep an eye on it in case it should happen again. Overall, I was impressed with the quality and promptness since this happened over the 3-day weekend.

Dear Value Customer I apologize that you did not agree with Our technicians assessment of your furnace. Our technician found the cracks in your heat exchanger by pulling out your blower motor and looking deep into your furnace. We value you as a customer and would have been more than happy to send a technician to your home to show you again exactly where the breaks are in your heat exchanger. As far as the part goes that was the technician giving you a free estimate to replace your heat exchanger or your furnace.

Great service from the visit for a quote all the way through the install. Norm came out for the quote. Reviewed what we had and walked us through the process of getting the furnace installed. We knew it was needed but it was not an emergency the furnace was running. We scheduled a measurement for sheet metal work and then got a schedule for the install. Measurement was on time and quick. While waiting for the install the old furnace died. Harriman sent out a service rep for a minimal charge and discovered a failure of the blower motor - $500 repair but instead of repairing the made arrangements to pull ahead our install and the sheet metal fabrication. We needed heat but managed to survive for about 24 hrs. while they pulled our job ahead. once the install started it was quick and clean. Nice work.

Dear Valued Customer, We appreciate your business and hope to hear from you again in the future. When the technician came out to your home he ran a diagnostics on your system and found that your system had a bad circuit board that needed to be replaced and gave you an estimate on the repairs. It was then express to the technician that you had DTE appliance service plan and that DTE would be the ones to put on the necessary part, therefore the technician did not go any further with the repairs on your furnace as the repairs were declined. Hope this clarifies any misunderstandings.

The service was just fine. I did not pay any extra on top of what I paid for the Deal. He did everything he was supposed to do and he was a nice guy. He did it promptly. He was here on time and he was fine. The only thing is it took a little longer for them to set-up the appointment than I thought it would. I think we had to wait two weeks or something which was not a big deal. The price was excellent. I might use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for Harriman Heating Inc. They did a furnace inspection. They had that 22-point furnace check where they look up the heat exchange and just to make sure that everything is running and that it is clean.

My furnace started blowing out cold air on Tuesday night (2/24/15), so I called my usual company that fixes my furnace. They sent out a guy I've never had over before. Honestly it didn't seem like he wanted to work. He said that it could be the batteries in my thermostat. My thermostat doesn't use batteries. He then informs me that the company doesn't work on Trane furnaces and that I should contact someone else. Even though they have been out other times and had no problem fixing it. So while he was still looking into the issue I found Harriman Heating. I called and made sure they work on Trane furnaces and they did so I was able to schedule an appointment that same day. I informed the other guy that I had called someone else and that they are coming out later that day. He still wanted me to pay the $89 for his service call. I told him I'm not paying and that he didn't do anything. He said he would check with his boss and he came back and said no charge. Jesse was the name of the tech from Harriman. He called and said he was in the area and if I was available for him to stop by. I informed him I was and to stop by. As soon as he came in he put boot covers on his boots to keep my house clean which I appreciated. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He went to work on the furnace and I kept my distance just so I didn't bother him even though he said I can stay and watch and it was no bother. After a little bit he discovered what the issue was but wanted to make sure it was the correct diagnoses so he called another individual named Justin. Justin came over almost right away. He was very polite and professional like Jesse. Between the two of them they came up with a good plan of action to fix the issue. They got the furnace running and informed me that the thermostat and another part were causing the issue. They said they had just gotten a shipment of new thermostats that are more high tech and if I would be interested in that model they could come out the next day and install it. It was late in the day at this point so I agreed and the price was reasonable. The following day they both came over promptly first thing in the morning and within an hour the new thermostat was in and they explained how it worked. Both Jesse and Justin did a wonderful job getting the heat working. They are now my new furnace company.
Description of Work: Replaced and rewired a new thermostat. Plus removing some old parts installed by previous owner that were causing the problem.
