I purchased a deal on Angie's List and they honored that deal perfectly. Service person showed up within the scheduled time frame and did all the work requested. He also gave me a lot of information regarding the unit (I recently bought the house) and answered all my questions. I was very pleased with the level of service and will use them again. The $40 charge I listed was for the filter, which was not included in the deal. Overall, it was quite reasonable.

I requested the first appointment of the day. The company gave a four hour window. The serviceman did come, at the third hour of the time window. He was very polite, and wore slip on covers over his shoes. He thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed the furnace, moved the motor and looked up. He said that my heat exchanger was cracked and it'll cost $1,700 to fix that. For a replacement furnace, he quoted $3,700 for a similar, 80% efficient one, or $4,600 for a 95% efficient one. Later, I found that most heat exchangers are guaranteed for 20 years. I called manufacturer who said they will cover the part, not labor under warranty. I called Harriman with this info. With that, they dropped the repair cost to $1,000. I called another reputable HVAC contractor, and they quoted repair charge of $550 if part is under warranty. Also, they quoted the cost of Rheem furnace installed at between $2100 to $2400 (95% efficient). The, I saw Harriman's coupon deal on Angie's at $1,899 (Trane) for 80% efficiency. I am not sure why they quoted $3,700 (80% efficient) to me. Based on research, Trane and Rheem are of comparable quality and reliability. I am going to get it checked out if my heat exchanger is really cracked, and get advice on repairing it vs. furnace replacement. Update: On Oct. 3, 2014, I had a technician from Sharon's Heating come and give a 2nd opinion. Right off the bat, he said in his experience, Bryant heat exchangers do not crack like Goodman/Amana, and if they do, cracks are in the front, not at the top. Still, I asked him to do thorough checking and testing. He removed the motor and did a visual check, and did not see any cracks. Then he drilled a hole in the combustion aluminium vent pipe and put his test meter probe. After a while he showed me that the reading fluctuated between 48 and 51, and was steady. If there were cracks, the reading would start going up to 100, 140, and up,...I am surprised why Harriman did not take readings of CO and other gases. They had asked me to replace furnace based on their visual check only that I could not verify. I learned a lesson, and wrote off $39.

I purchased a furnace tune-up special through Angie's List offered by Harriman Heating. In addition, my basement had been through a sewer flood and I wanted to have the furnace inspected to see if components had been damaged. I would say the only issue I had with these guys was the extreme difficulty of scheduling. They called to reschedule no less than 3 times and on the third time no-showed/no-called. I was pretty upset by this as you might imagine as I work 40 hours a week with a side job and a 2 year old besides so moving my schedule around to accommodate them was difficult and frustrating. However, when they finally came the service man was friendly, professional, and explained things really well. Besides this their rates are very competitive. So in summary of you don't need something done too urgently these guys are worth the wait and I would use them again in the future.

They did diagnose an issue but never responded with estimates for a service date and/or coming back to do the cleaning. It ended up their diagnoses was wrong - 2 other companies verified that. Their "fix" would lave cost me $300 more than what the actual solution was.

The Cleaning and tune up than turns into a service fee and than the repairs would have needed to be done before a tune up could have taken place. In our records it states that you were waiting for your insurance company to contact you back before we were able to move forward with any repairs. The company refuses to honor their warranty, they have a 200% mark up on a cheap white rodger thermostat, they took my old thermostat and falsely claimed it was broken and the cause of the problem which was clearly due to their messed up wiring job during the AC install. Company refuses to let me return the thermostat. Also stated they wouldn't charge me, but still ran my credit card for 267 dollars. Currently disputing with the attorney general of Michigan, BBB and my credit card company is working on the dispute.
Description of Work: The provider sold me an air conditioning unit and installed it in June of 2014. This unit came with a warranty on parts and labor. The installer improperly connected the air conditioning such that in September, when it got cold and i had to use the heat, the AC and furnace ran at the same time. This caused cold air to come out. This is not everything, when i called them, they demanded 267 dollars to change the thermostat which they did do and replaced it with a 45 dollar retail value thermostat and they repaired their messed up wiring in the process.

We offered to let you return the thermostat that you agreed to have installed you also signed the invoice and provided your credit card for this work to be done but because you approved the work to be done you would still owe for the labor fee for the technicians time to put in the thermostat. We also said we could waive the service fee. The thermostat was changed per your approval and request because your thermostat had failed not because of the AC installation that was inspected and approved by the city of Livonia on July 28, 2014 stating that the install was up to code and installed correctly. So again I apologize we could not come to a resolution to your issue. Harriman Heating Inc still will honor the warranty for AC unit.

I called a few days before my appointment to reschedule appointment. Office assistant was very nice and understanding to my situation and changed my service call for that same day hours of 1-5. Service tech called before arriving to my home. Serivce tech was friendly, professional and very helpful. We had a wonderful conversation during his visit. Thanks for all the insight to the neighborhood as well as my new home.

I hired Harriman Brothers off of Angie?s List with a prepaid deal for a diagnostic examination. Our tenant at a house in Dearborn Heights said the air conditioning wasn?t working ? but we also had issues with our own air conditioning. We had Harriman come ? after testing put 1 pound of coolant in our system and the technician also cleared out the drain from the furnace to the laundry tub ? and advised me how to deal with that on a going forward basis. Then he went to our tenants house. He reported that the exterior unit was inaccessible because of clutter. So he left. We called and made arrangements for him to come back after cleanup. He returned on a rainy day. The tenant claimed he didn?t do anything, again. He submitted a bill for the prepaid diagnostic and cleaning the unit, he specifically noted that there was a sticky switch that he fixed and noted that we needed to replace a couple of things. I followed up and he said that the air conditioning was working OK for now, but we eventually needed to replace some parts, as noted. Our tenant said the air still wasn?t working ? and hadn?t changed a bit. I kind of felt like this was a ploy to not pay the rent, but that was out of character ? as they reliably pay the rent. I decided to send a different company out just to see what was what (A to Z Heating and Cooling) ? the technician had an entirely different perspective ? the technicians report was completely different (see the very end of this comment to see what they fixed) So A to Z Heating and Cooling fixed it (thank goodness) but I paid for Harriman to fix it ? or at least I thought I did (though I hadn?t considered that wasn?t happening) or at least I presumed Harriman would diagnose it properly. Harriman produced a nice guy as technician ? he charged our home unit but we still have short cycling (which I mentioned, but didn?t happen while he was there). Here is what A to Z's invoice states for labor: Upon arrival I found contactor chattering and cap testing low compressor not running installed new contactor and cap also installed hardstart to compressor cycled unit 4 times all OK I contacted Harriman after the fact ? because I was upset with the false representations about how the air conditioner was being fixed and then working at our tenants house, when it was not working and the A to Z guy came in and said the unit had NOT been opened and fixed it. Harriman was polite but said that they stood by their technician.
Description of Work: Provider claimed they cleaned and tested the unit and it was working - we were invoiced accordingly and paid for same. The tenant reported they didn't do anything and it wasn't working, we confirmed it wasn't working and decided to have another company check it out and they indicated they didn't see any sign the unit had been opened, let alone cleaned, and made other repairs that seemed obvious to them.

Dear Valued Customer, I am pleased to hear that the technician took care of the issues at your personal home and that everything is now working, as it should. When the same technician went to your residential home he found that there was so much clutter that he could not access the unit and took pictures that he sent to the office manager who than informed you and the resident that the site needed to be made accessible for the technician to be able to perform the work on the unit. At this point the technician waived the $60 trip charge that should have been charged for making a trip to the residents home but for this specific trip he decided to waive so the resident could get the area cleaned up. The appointment was than rescheduled. On the next scheduled appointment it started to rain after the technician arrived. The Air Conditioning system is ran by 220 Volts of electricity and is potentially dangerous for the technician to work on in the rain so the appointment was than rescheduled for another day that would be safe for him to work on the unit outside. Another appointment was scheduled and the technician came to the home and cleaned the AC coil to try to get proper air flow across the compressor he checked electrical components and found a sticky relay on board causing blower motor to run constantly even when the system was off he reported that the system was working but not as it should he than recommended that you / resident replace the circuit board and the Primary and secondary motor control which is the same as what A to Z said that they had fixed (Contactor and Capacitor) A to Z diagnosed the same issues as Harriman Heating Inc. technician did and repairs were not authorized to be done so a trip charge service fee was than charged which you than agreed to pay for but never agreed to the technician to continue with the necessary repairs. I purchased a big deal through Angie?s List and was contacted by the company the same day. An appointment was scheduled for the following Monday from 4-6pm. I received a call that Monday morning that a technician would be at my house between 4-6pm. At 7pm no one had showed up at my house. I called the company?s messaging service who said they would get a hold of the technician. 20 minutes later the technician called saying he had a flat tire and he was really behind on his schedule. A call to let me know would have been nice. A gave them the benefit of the doubt. I re-scheduled for the next day from 4-6pm. The company again called the next morning leaving a message that a technician would be at my house between 4-6pm, however it may be as late as 8pm?.???...then why did I schedule the appointment from 4-6pm? 8pm rolled around and again nobody showed up at my house. I again called the company?s messaging service and they said they would contact the technician. 20 minutes passed and no call back. Called the messaging service again and finally got a technician to call back. The guy asked what kind of service I needed. I told him my story and let him know I waited for them for 2 days and would like to cancel. No apologies just an ok we will cancel for you. All I would have wanted is a call to say they are behind but to not call or show up on both days. No thanks. I will try another company.

It was not a real great experience for price i paid. for that work price was quite high and on the top i bought coupon for 29 dollars on angies list too. Still i was charged total 104 dollars(including coupon) When he first walked in without any research he said your water tank is leaking and you have to replace the water tank. I knew the problem so i told him to check the coils and eventually he found the real problem and it was fixed.

The special for $29 is a $31 dollar savings for being an Angies list customer during that promotional period. That is the technicians diagnostics fee and Trip charge for going out to your home. Any additional work is an additional fee to preform the work. In order for your unit to work properly part of your drain needed to be disassembled to insure proper water flow at which point the technician would have got prior authorization from you to continue with the estimated cost to do the repairs of $75 dollars. This price included any labor or parts (if any) the technician may have needed. I hope this helps clarify the additional cost. We look forward to hearing from you again in the future. The front office called me several times throughout the day to let me know the approximate time I would have the tech. They were also very good at letting me know that if it did rain, they would need to reschedule my appointment. The tech that serviced our a/c unit was very courteous and professional. He answered all of my questions and let me know what should be done to ensure that my a/c unit would work properly and stressed the importance of regular maintenance.

Great service from first call to installation. Had 3.5 ton ac replaced with Trane model. Installers called to let me know they were on their way. Upon arrival discussed what they would do and if I had any questions. During install kept me updated on progress. Upon completion, went thru everything they had done and ensured I had no questions. Crew was very professional and left site spotless.

They were supposed to come between 9 and 1, but didn’t show up until 4:30. I had taken a whole day off of work for this. They rescheduled with me and offered me an additional service for free. The work itself was fine and I didn’t have any problems contacting them for scheduling initially.

Dear (member name removed), The reason your unit could not be cleaned during the day of service is because the unit is not working properly and needs to have repairs done to it. Your Freon pressures are very low which means your system has a leak somewhere within it, therefore this leak will need to be located and see if it is able to be repaired or if unable to repair your system will need to be replaced if the leak is unrepairable. The repairs were refused so the technician was unable to properly tune up your system. You can reach me at 248-231-2102 Thank you, Sher This is the reply I received from my review, just the perfect example of how my questions were STILL not adequately answered. I would like to point out fallacies in this statement. The very first sentence doesn't match my receipt or what I was told. The men who came out to my house stated they couldn't find ANYTHING wrong because at that time the air was coming out fine. I explained it works randomly and in 20 minute increments, and that day it chose to work. They checked and told me there wasn't anything wrong except I needed a cleaning (which I thought was included, as it states on the coupon) and I could add just a pound of refrigerant to make the air COLDER, that's it. I kept asking them if they could tell me why it only works when it wants to, and they couldn't find anything wrong. I even joked that it is working now but as soon as they leave, it will stop working, and that's exactly what happened. There was absolutely NO MENTION of low pressures OR a leak, I would have loved to have learned that, because I would have had it fixed. The repairs can not be refused if they aren't even announced to the customer! And why didn't they clean it? Oh that's right, they told me it would be an additional fee so of course I said NO. If this company attempted to reach a customer, they would have left a message right? Well I do in my business anyway. I gave them a number and an email to reach me, neither forms of communication were utilized or else I would have evidence of such attempt, right? This is just another disappointed customer with no end results in sight. It is mind boggling how people get away with stealing customers' money without performing services and fabricating reasons why they weren't performed. This is sounding more like a case for the courts to decide. Geez.

I wasnt able to get the services completed because they advised me they didnt have any available appointment until after the coupon would have expired. I questioned because I thought at least they could still honor my deal because I had purchased it before the expiration. The lady I spoke with was nice enough.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal for a 20-point air conditioning tune up.

This is a SCAM. Do not fall for it. I own a rental property in MI but I live in a different state. I reserved A/C tune up on June 9th, 2014 for the service to be performed on July 1st,2014. I reserved it almost a month ahead to make sure it will happen since i was flying in to MI only for 2 days to do general maintenance on my condo. They called me on June 10th and confirmed the appointment. On June 30th, they called me again (one day before the service was due) to tell me they cannot come. I told them I do not live in MI and I have to have this done, I reserved the day a month ahead and already prepaid for it. They told it is not going to happen and that is it. Obviously they had more profitable obligations and a regular A/C tune up was not not worth their time. DO not hire this company , they offer services which they have no intentions to honor.
