Functional Floors

They did a great job! Contacted me very quickly after I purchased the AL coupon, came right out to measure and give estimate, and explained the process very clearly. Job was scheduled within two weeks of the call. Their crew arrived at the time promised; John and Mike were very helpful about what they'd be doing and the time it would take. Because the flooring involved all of our exterior doors, it meant we had no choice but to stay away for the two nights of the job; and the guys made sure they kept a path open for us while we finished packing our stuff and leaving. They kept in touch by phone, did a great job cleaning up. I noticed a small defect when I returned home and inspected the job--and they responded immediately, sending Matt out to look at the problem and take care of it right away. I'd recommend FF to anyone--especially with the discount on the coupon. The floors look beautiful, and it was much less expensive than I expected. Well done, guys!

The issues I mostly have are with all the damage that was done to my house. I spent weeks after the job swiffering the ceiling and walls due to the dust staining the walls and ceilings. My cellular blinds were permanently stained from the dust and there was even dust all over my food. Where the workers taped off some areas, the tape they used actually pulled off the paint on my ceiling and walls. They never wiped down my toilet of dust before they sealed the floors and got the poly on the toilet so the dust is sealed to it. Now it is permanently stained. When they applied the poly on the floors, it got on the bottom 2 inches or so of all the moldings and doors in the house causing the bottom to look darker or wet compared to the top. The area around my banisters just looks bad where they hand scraped the wood and it is very uneven and rough looking. It was a very bad experience.

It turned out fantastic. I would recommend this company to all my friends. they were on time they did a wonderful job.

Mike and John did an amazing job of transforming a good looking floor in amazing, finished results blew my expectations away. Highly recommend!

Left some stain on the walls, cranked the AC all day, and left it running, did not text or call when done first day, had to make a repair, and it shows in the final product, 1.5 coats of poly not 2, wanted the easiest finish possible not the best looking, brought no samples, **CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION** (used for "$25 deposit to retain a date", final product is "OK" not "WOW" ! Also Paid almost 1/2 on Angies list, and did not get credit at Func. Floors. or Angie List "$50 rebate" for first purchase.

I opted to go with Functional Floors based on reviews on Angie's List, but I contacted them directly to get a quote. Steve arrived right on time for the appointment and performed what I felt was a very fair appraisal. I had slightly more than 300 sq feet of floor sanded down and 3 coats of oil based finish applied. I also had 3 flush mount register vents installed. Everything went great. John was the crew leader. They closed off the room well to keep the dust contained . The floor and vent covers look great and I just had light dusting to do.

I got an estimate hoping that their "Big Deal" (coupon on Angie's List) was legitimate. The coupon said $399 a $650 value to resand 200 sq ft. Mathematically on his final quote this didn't make sense at all. His quote w/o any extras on 286 sq ft was $855. This is a far cry from $399 for 200 sq ft. He said you pay the $399 and it would save me $199. The quote ended up by 1,140 w shoe molding. When I asked him where is the $399 deal for the 200 sq ft he just said "I told you what the deal was" I felt like his coupon wasn't representing his price at all. Myself and my husband tried to make sense of his coupon and the quote w/o success. I am still looking for someone to sand my hardwood floors. That broke trust.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. When I called to set up the appointment and I let them know what I was interested in, they failed to tell me that the deal didn't involve staining it. I wanted to have one room in our new house sanded and stained to match the rest of the house. I told Matt, the owner, that was what I wanted. He said that wasn't a problem and then when they came out a few days later, they told my husband it would be $425 total not $275. That left a lot to be desired. We said that we wanted it to be as close as we could get it to the floor. The guy came out and gave my husband a sample. My husband said he wanted it as close as it could be. They had my husband pick and didn't offer their insights that it wasn't even going to be close to the right color. It's not been great so far. They did it yesterday. The tech's job was phenomenal but the color was creepy. He said it was the color that we picked. It was too light. I'm not too happy because it is going to cost us $300 for them to take that stain off and redo it. It isn't even a deal now because it is now going to cost us $700. They are nice and personable. We appreciated that they were prompt and polite and the techs were great but they weren't really open with us. Had they told me right off the bat that the deal wouldn't cover what I wanted, I would have canceled and asked for a refund. It wasn't very transparent. They said we could have saw that it didn't say staining. My husband told them that it said refinishing and they should have told me when I called. We didn't know the verbiage. After my husband complained and argued with them, they put in an asterisk with the information. We feel that we got duped a little bit. The color that they redid looks great. It is not a perfect match. It looks way better than the first color. He has to come 2 more times for half an hour each time to do something with the clear coat and polyurethane. They were there before we were each time. We paid 3 times as much so it wasn't a Big Deal.

High quality professional installation .

It went very well they were there the first day right on time, but the second day they were late by a couple of hours. They did not come until 4pm and their appointment time was 1pm . But all in all I would give them 5 stars

Functional Floors and Matt were great. They were easy to schedule with, arrived on time and communicated well. I walked on the floors about 20 hours after they were done, when they should have been dry, but a few spots were still wet and left footprints. Matt came out again to fix those spots at no additional cost!

The company was very responsive and Steve came out for an estimate/consultation on Friday, July 25th. The deal was purchased to refinish 2 bedrooms at my Aunt and Uncle's house. My Aunt is very ill and was in the hospital and we were trying to fix up a room for her in the house that was comfortable. My Aunt ended up getting released last week and due to her condition, we can not have the service performed. I would like to request a refund for this purchase.

Excellent job and professionalism. Chris and Steve set up the appointment and made accommodations in this portion to assist us. Mike and Joel called prior to beginning, were on time, were very professional, informed us of every step within the process and then accomplished the job as explained. It was a small job but the company treated us like it was a major job. Cost was well below what we thought it would be. Would recommend Functional Floors and Mike and Joel without hesitation.

The floor looks as good as new. Everything was done as expected, and in a very timely manner. Mike & Joel were very courteous, hard working and friendly. We highly recommend Functional Floors!

Steve the salesman was very good and informed. We decided on this firm right away due to their strong Angie's List recommendations and Steve's professional approach. Plus they could do the job fairly quickly as we were moving in soon. the price was very reasonable and a bit less than Home Depot (via Anderson Installers) - which is their install firm. I strongly suggest the "third" finish coat for the best protection and finish, It runs a few hundred more. We had a couple minor issues as to the trim work but it was resolved very easily. They are very responsive. It is not so much if things happen on any job - as they will - but it is how management handles them. They are excellent at this!!

I was very pleased with the job from beginning to end. I received a quick responce and they were professional. I was provided with multiple options for the work. The floors came out better than I expected.

That turned out okay and they did 700 square feet of hardwood floor sanding & refinishing. I did have to call them back, because they missed an area of they floor. They came back to complete that. The initial job was good, but when they came back to finish the area they had missed, there were swirls in the floor. They said they had to re-sand and re-apply. I look forward to using them again in the future though. I also did have some boards replaced and they were able to do that the first time they came out for me; and I remember it being a reasonable price for that.

I enjoyed meeting these guys and they were professional and knowledgable. They were polite and courteous as they were afraid they'd be stuck in traffic so they gave me a call ahead of time to let me know (they ended up being on time anyway). They entered our house and quickly started taking measurements and then gave me a photo album of their work to look at while I waited. I commented on how nice one of the pictures was and the servicemen was honest in saying that it looked the way it did because of the camera filter, ha. I appreciated his honesty. The quote they gave was reasonable and is one of the better ones we've received. He also gave me some helpful insight about other parts of the house that I found helpful.

The floors are absolutely gorgeous! Howard and his team were professional, prompt and did a miraculous job! Not only do the floors look brand new, but they match even though one floor was completely new wood and the others were just refinished. The stain color Howard recommended was the perfect choice and the pet stains are barely noticeable. I am so thrilled with the job; I would recommend them to anyone (in fact I have already given their contact information to someone) and would use them again in a heartbeat. All I can say is "Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!"

not so good. i was unsatisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!they talked to me as if i where ignorant, as if i didnt know anything about floors. in the past 30 years ive had numerous homes, rentals done most the work myself. but being up in age i now am resticted physicaly to do manual labor. they said they would do a certain one thing that was very,very important to me and a stressed that in a cordial nice asking manner, not just once but 3 times! and yet they just did nothing......like the h*** with the customer, im paying yet they want to tell me what to do??? dont think so. they were offensive, rude and definatly not professional. yet they started out great, good work. but not worth the aggrevation it caused!!!!

They were excellent. We would use them again. They taped off our kitchen and all the cupboard and they took the original finish off the floor and the applied two coats of stain and a coat of polyurethane on top of it. They cleaned everything up. The guys were just really nice, just great guys.

I absolutely love the service received from functional floors. Purchased the Big Deal at $399 and received prompt call back followed by estimate within 2days. Chris and his team were professional and did an excellent job on bringing back my floors to life. It was last minute planning after another vendor could not follow through. They helped us meet our move in deadline by finishing the work timely.

Chris and his staff were wonderful to work with. Chris even made a special trip early in the morning to come and give me an estimate before I went to work. Both him and his team were prompt, professional, and even called a day ahead to confirm the appointment. They did an amazing job on the floors and I couldn't be happier! Look no further, these guys are the best! I'll be calling them for my next flooring project, no questions asked.

Steve came out to give me a quote very quickly. We set up an appointment for that Friday, job was fully complete on Monday. Everything looks great!
