Functional Floors

It went very well. I came home and my floors were shinning the way I wanted them to. Due to me selecting the initial coat I wanted and my husband changed it, they did not charge me additional money. They did and excellent job. Someone at my job asked if I knew a company that stain floors and I refereed them to this company.

Had to stay on top of. Left sawdust and put poly over. Had to have multiple conversations with the supervisor who indicated I was getting a good deal through Angie’s list and since I lived in Grosse Pointe it wasn’t fair of me to ha ethe high standards I have. Would not recommend to a friend

Everything went pretty smooth. Was suppose to have three coats of polyeurethane, but they did one coat of shellac and two urethane.This should have been explained up front. This was not dustless operation. Had to ask workers to cover kitchen cabinets. Glad this was done in fall, the fumes were terrible. Suggest you leave for three days if possible.

Amazing transformation!! These floors were approximately 65 years old. They had never been refinished before. They now are beautiful and look like new.

Jesus and his team did an excellent job. There was a problem with the replacement of the stair nose and Functional Floors stood behind their work and quickly resolved it. The floors turned out beautifully and I am very happy with their service and workmanship.

Installation was great. When it came time to stain and finish there were a couple problems, but they fixed them. However, when I came to inspect I noticed a waving pattern in floor so they resanded it. I went to inspect again and it was early in morning and gloomy. It looked good and I Ok'd the work, however when I came back a week later after my painters/handymen were done with their work I noticed the waving hadn't been removed (it was a sunny day which made the waves visible). I called office and owner came out and said waves weren't very noticeable except in kitchen. So he reimbursed me some money since I am going to hire another company to refinish the kitchen and family room.

After doing much research on various local companies, I chose this company due to their ratings and price. They offered an option to have my furniture moved, but I elected to save the $600 and do it myself. We moved 4 rooms of furniture into our great room. The entire job was done by one person, Howard, who showed up on time, was meticulous, polite, and seemed to truly care about the quality of his work. He arrived daily around 8:30, and worked until around 1:00. The job took 5 days with 1 day of prep (he did a great job covering artwork, door openings, etc with plastic to control the dust) 2nd day was sanding, then 2 coats of oil based sealant. We were barely inconvenienced other than 2 days that we couldn't walk on the floors in that part of the house. I really liked having one person do the job; I had imagined a bunch of guys in my house and things getting broken... I was pleasantly surprised! The results are just beautiful, I would recommend them to anyone.

I was absolutely amazed and pleased by the outcome. The floors looked brand new and the color and texture of the wood beautiful. The result certainly increased the value of my house. The workers were very professional in preparing to do the job and cleaning up.

The salesman was knowledgeable and honest about doing the 65 year old floors. The crew was prompt efficient and professional and did an excelent job. I'll be hiring them again soon for the the 2nd bedroom.

Quite a job, but really outstanding work. If I had one things to say, it would have been that they should have prepared us for the amount of dust created throughout our home with this project. Really, really pleased.

Price was competitive, workers were very meticulous. There was dust, but it's unavoidable with floor sanding.

Two gentleman arrived on Thursday Am at the prescribed time, reviewed the work they were to perform, and immediately got to work. They area they were re-finishing was approximately 150 sq ft of hardwood flooring. They were able to complete the job in about 5 hours and the finish looked as if the floor was brand new. All scuff marks, scratches and marks were removed and the satin finish made the room pop. They also provided some tips on care and maintenance of the floors. Great job - and Great service end to end (sales to delivery).

The install when well but these guys cannot refinish a floor! The first time the crew was here for 4 days and put "chatter" throughout my dinning room; the second time they came to get the chatter out and destroyed the floors with a orbital sander which left scratch marks throughout the all three rooms, the stain popped out cause they didn't let it dry long enough and the poly was flaking off. They also didn't plastic off anything and just let the dust fly everywhere. The third time out I requested another crew which took them a month to get back out to my house but they were MUCH more professional and courteous. They use a much better product to finish and seal floor but unfortunately most of the scratches remain including a 4ft shadow in my hallway that a 5 year old could point out. The second crew did however tape and plastic EVERYTHING. Night and day. Mind you the 3 times they were in my house to "refinish" my floor took over 2 months! 2 months of having my home in shambles with 3 kids. I would NOT recommend these guys.

Beautiful job of sanding, staining, and refinishing. Arrived when scheduled. Quarter round edgings were done in stained wood rather than primed as requested, but finished job looks great.

The guys showed up on time every day. Did a fantastic job! I have given my recommendations to my friends and family who may be interested in getting their hardwood floors refinished. The price was as much as new carpet, except now I can clean my floor as often as I like without waiting for it to dry like carpet. No more nasty carpet, just clean beautiful floors! Thank you.
