Strongly considering a Better Business Bureau complaint. I was told on the phone it would be a 45 min appt. The sales guy (yes I said sales guy. They don’t send an actual contractor) was still talking an hour and 15 min later. NOT because we had questions, or because he was doing work we asked for. Nope. He was giving us the hard sell about his company, telling us how windows work as if we were 5 years old and didn’t understand how heat can escape, and generally being obnoxious. We told him multiple times we weren’t making a decision right then, and he still kept “knocking the price down”. Which, let’s be honest. That’s sketchy. You know what windows cost. You know what your work will cost. Give me a price and be done. If you have a special or sale, lay it out and be done. That’s all we wanted. Instead we got a 75 min sales presentation which ended finally when we both bluntly told him to get out of our house. We had to ask multiple times to get him to leave our home. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Also note, they make sure BOTH people are home so you can’t use the “excuse” of “I need to talk with my spouse”. Like, that’s a requirement of scheduling a consult. So if it seems sexist, it’s just their business tactic. Basically, if you enjoy timeshare presentations, call today. Otherwise save your time.

William was nice enough but felt like a used car dealer. Read the reviews on Yelp, they are spot on. I'm sure the stuff they use is good quality but was quoted 50,000 for a 15,000 siding job. But then he gave me the "friends and family" discount of 29,000. Then a "manager" called the next day to offer me a deal at just above cost for some reason and he wanted to come by the next day to remeasure. Well, same dude came back again and the just above cost price was 2,000 less than the other quote. I wouldn't say it's a scam, but it's a terrible company and they are definitely lying to you and overcharging. Avoid at all costs. I've never come across a cheesier gimmick in my life. What a joke

They gave me the best estimate for the product and warranty on a rubberized roof. I have a ice d*** that goes all the way up to the peak of my house and this company, by far had the best estimate and also came with a lifetime warranty on the roof and also the windows that I had them replace for me. The were prompt, professional, great clean up and also had financing available. I would highly recommend them to others. They did a great job and I would hire them again.

I was less than satisfied with their work from the start. Their salesperson was very, unpleasantly aggressive and I felt pretty pressured by him. Chose Hanson's anyway because it sounded like the quality of their roofing product and work was very good. More on that later... It turns out their price was higher than most other roofers I talked with, but it's hard to make a direct comparison, given things like quality of the roof product they were using, level of detail of their work plans, etc. The Hanson's people I talked with on the phone as the job was getting set up were also pretty helpful, once I got to the right person. Getting to the right person took numerous phone calls, though. Office staff wasn't entirely sure what it was doing much of the time. Hanson's uses contract roofers who are trained on Hanson's service and quality requirements. However, as I found out later, there is a range of how good their "trained" roofers actually are. The ones who did my roof were definitely a mixed bag. Friendly and responsive to my questions and comments, but I actually had to have them back twice after the initial work was done to correct things that were done sloppily or not at all. They also damaged some of the house paint and left roofing nails and chunks of old shingles around the house. At the time I was setting up the roofing work, I was also working with a household energy consultant who told me Hanson's ventilation plan was inadequate.. He had several detailed conversations with the local Hanson's manager to make sure they would follow correct standards, and Hanson's promised (in writing) they would. When the roofers came to do the work, they told me they hadn't gotten any of that information. I could go on, but you get the drift. End of the story is that they eventually did an OK job--though it took way too much time and work on my part to get it there. Hanson's overall process is pretty unacceptable, and you can probably get the same or better quality work at a lower cost.. One final thing--their TV advertising makes a broad statement about 0% interest on financing. You can get that, but only if you're able to pay off the loan in a fairly short period of time, which means making large monthly payments..

See our previous comments which were all A's. Excellent windows and installation job. Person who gave estimate too pushy. We had a slight problem with some leakage after huge EL rains and a blemish inside one of the layers in an unnoticeable area. Called Hanson's 1 year later about the issues. Had a prompt response. Person evaluated our issue, offered to immediately replace the window with the defect and would have someone call and come out to do re-calking of the window that leaked because a very tall ladder (which he did not have with him) would be needed. Now waiting call but we were extremely pleased with the rapid and positive response we received.

The sales person was well informed and certainly had the Hanson's LONG prepared speech down to a tee. We finally got thru all the window details and company details and began to talk costs. Wow! The costs - without any discounts of course - were astronomical. But then the discounting began .............and continued and continued involving calls to bosses, etc. Finally got to a price I said I would consider and then the sales pressure escalated. Of course I could only get this price if I signed right now. No 24 hours to think. At this point it became difficult to get the sales person to leave. I was actually feeling not only intimidated but frightened by the experience. After finally leaving - and me starting to relax - he was back at the door! Geez! If it takes this to buy new windows, maybe I don't want them. The sad part is that I really liked the product. I just needed time to think thru the details and budget.

My wife and I highly recommend hansons windows. We needed to replace 7 windows in our house, and contacted three different companies to make sure we knew what all our options were. Scott from hansons windows visited us, providing the most detailed quotation (with an extensive demonstration of glass types and window construction). Like other reviews state, it did take longer than expected, but at least I knew what I was getting. The company met their target date for installation, and the installation went smoothly aand efficiently. The workers thoroughly cleaned everything afterward and removed all of our old window frames. We are very happy with our new windows and screens, which are of very high quality, and would definitely use them again for future projects.

While the sales pitch was a little high pressure we were able to ignore that part. The followup service was excellent. The local manager was extremely helpful and followed thru. He made recommendations on his install crew based on our concerns. The installation was excellent even though difficult and professional. The crew pleasant and did an excellent job of cleaning up. The office staff was courteous, helpful and followed thru both during and after installation to make sure we were satisfied and that all went according to plan

Made the request online, a few minute later was called to schedule the appointment. They were insistent to have my wives information that I would not provide because the property is owned by a LLC and is not a member. Immediately following this call i received another call to schedule the appointment. Day before the appointment they called to confirm. Insistent they will not schedule an appointment unless all the property owners are present for their presentation. Even though I am the managing partner of the LLC and the members of the LLC are out of state, won't be attending. Just not impressed at all with this outfit. Even if they did come out for the appointment just from this little customer service interaction there is no way I would ever do business with them!!!

Contacted company the week before Memorial Day weekend. They offered to provide a quote on roofing the Sat. of Memorial Day weekend. They then called the Friday before our apt. and re-scheduled because they do not do quotes on holiday weekends. Not sure then why they originally scheduled the apt. Was re-scheduled for Wednesday night. They called me Wednesday morning to re-schedule because of the "bad winter." I reminded him it was summer now. He apologized and said his sales reps were overbooked...so obviously there are scheduling issues within this company. I rescheduled for tonight at 7 pm and the rep guaranteed that they would be here and that he would "oversee" this himself to be sure it was completed. He also offered to send a VISA card for lunch, due to our inconvenience. Tonight they never showed. We missed a family meeting for our daughter due to this. I called them at 7:40 and was told the rep was just finishing up a quote about 30 minutes from our house, so they wanted to reschedule again. I told them no. This was indicative of the kind of work they would do. He said if I change my mind to call him back and I told him we wouldn't be changing our mind. Would not recommend this disorganized company to anyone. Run away from them!

The salesman did what a salesperson does, they are the one always asking questions, and it puts the buyer on a negative approach. When purchasing a car , the buyer ask questions, and can leave without feeling pressured into a situation He would not take NO for an answer, of which the girl setting up the appointment said the company also took NO very gracefully.. ..I guess they forgot to tell their sales rep that. I guess if I am writing this you know by now it was not a good sales relationship with the company.....my fault for allowing it to get this far......but one has to do what one has to do to get rid of the pressure of them not accepting NO...

Anyone using Hanson's needs to keep in mind that Hanson's do not have their own crew to do their work. They contract all of their jobs to whatever contractors are available to do your job so the work quality will very from contractor to contractor. They send out a job estimator first and use strong arm tactics to coerce you into accepting their high prices. I kept telling the salesman that I wanted to get some other estimates only to be told that Brian Hanson doesn't like his sales people to have to make multiple calls to the same client so you better take the deal while you can get it. Also they offer freebies, tickets to shows, iPods, etc but if you get any kind of discounted price, which I did, then you are no longer eligible for that incentive. I settled on $11K for my roofing job only to be told by the contractor that Hanson's sent out that the job was only worth around $8K. In fairness to the roofing installer he did a really first rate job and seemed to really know his stuff. It was later when I called Hanson's to ask where my promised iPod was that I was notified that because I received a discount on my job that they weren't going to give me the promised iPod. I would never deal with Hanson's again.

This is a fairly long review because we had multiple issues with the company, from sales to installation to customer service all the way to Mr Brian Elias himself. You need a little back info, I have been in the hospital over 100 days since last Christmas with severe heart issues. I had heart surgery on October 17 and am still mostly bedridden. I also have 8 herniated discs and am in severe chronic pain. Issue 1 The salesperson insisted on us both sitting through his talk, even though we explained that this was a problem. So I struggled to sit through his talk on O2 and pain meds and nitro. Now they promise you an incentive for that, and we were promised a second incentive if we used Hansons for the job. They offered tickets 4 for each incentive so 8 total, for a fair, we explained at that time I was just about to undergo heart surgery and asked if the tickets would expire before the end of October, because they were useless to us otherwise. He said he would check, if they expired before then he would call for other options. He didn't call, but after the job, which was after the surgery, we received 2 envelopes with expired tickets. When we complained we were brushed off until finally they sent one of their new incentives, a tablet computer. This was only a small issue in a situation of many issues Issue 2 My husband did all the arranging, had explained I was home recouping from heart surgery and unable to come to the door. NO ONE TOLD US THAT A SIT DOWN MEETING BETWEEN CONTRACTOR AND PEOPLE IN HOUSE HAS TO HAPPEN IF YOU WANT A SAFE ACCESS POINT IN AND OUT OF THE HOUSE DURING THE JOB. At about 8 am someone started knocking and ringing the bell. I called Hansons to remind them I could not get down stairs and they said they didn't have anyone at the house. I made sure they had both my and my husband's number. (Turns out it was their people delivering shingles wanting permission to drive in driveway) The message somehow became don't bother the lady in the house, but even with that mistake (they could have called) they had my husbands number too. Issue 3 During the whole time on roof and in yard there was continual yelling and swearing. It was so bad we had neighbors come to us saying they didn't appreciate their young children being exposed to that all day the 1st night. We complained the 1st night but the did the same thing the next day. Issue 4 My daughter brought me lunch, she was in her business attire with a bag in hand. She yelled and got someone's attention to get in, but on her way out she yelled over and over, someone said ok, although it turns out they were not talking to her, she was missed by mere inches by a large chunk of roofing materials. The claims after was since no sit down was held they did not leave a safe way in and out, and besides THEY DIDNT THINK SHE WOULD BE LEAVING! Issue 5 While she was here she saw a piece of roofing material sticking out of a hole it had made in our grill cover, she told me and took pictures of it. That evening the contractor denied anything fell that far from the house, until we told him we had pictures, then he apologized and offered to pay for a new one. That has not happened to this date. Issue 6 The next day after they "finished", the contractors wife said she would be here to sign papers at 4 pm, she didn't show until about 5:30, My husband turned in a survey with all our issues. The company claimed it was never received. Issue 7 When my husband got a chance to go on the roof to inspect the damage he found two broken shingles, broken wood trim, and areas he did not think were done correctly. He sent pictures of three areas of concern to Hansons with the request someone other than the person who had caused us such distress come out to fix and inspect the workmanship of these concerns. They called me to tell me they were sending him on Wednesday to fix it, I explained the issues and said I didn't want that man or his wife near my home again, I was told that was policy. Issue 8 My husband left a message for the contact person he had been dealing with, someone who had not even gotten the grill cover issue handled. So I left a fairly long and admittedly upset message for Brian Elias himself. I insisted he call and deal with this problem. I did do one thing I normally don't do and said I didn't want that a**hole at my home again, I also apologized immediately for my crudeness. I told him that sending someone who was abusive to a customer back to abuse them again was bull crap. He did call back telling me my message was unacceptable and how could I complain about swearing when I swore twice (yes according to him bull crap is swearing) and I asked how he could compare listening to hours of people screaming obscenities so loud the neighbors complained to my one word. He said he was sending the original people that's how he does business so I gave the phone to my husband. Issue 9 Mr Elias was as rude and nasty to my husband as me but I am going to have him finish writing this in his words. Issue 10 Mr Elias was angry and not at all apologetic. He was rude and told me he would send the installer out, that was his policy. I told Mr Elias that I wanted a supervisor to investigate my concerns. Mr. Elias yelled at me that he would not send anyone else and the crew had taken 70 pictures of their work. He said I've seen their work and they did a beautiful job. I asked if he had seen the pictures I took and sent and he admitted no but refused to give me his email address to send pictures to him. I told him I expected and would have been willing to pay extra to replace the trim board that was torn up.I just thought the installers should have told me about it. Elias got angrier and bluntly told me he was not responsible for any damage they may have caused. He also demanded to know if my roof was leaking and I told him that he was being unreasonable. Any leak that might be there could take months to show up on the interior of my house. I decided to allow the installer to come and replace the two broken shingles because that was the only thing Hansons would do for us. I don't feel my requests were unreasonable. Mr Elias was an angry arrogant jerk to me on the phone and made me feel he was too important to have to deal with my concerns. His was inconvienenced and he made me fully aware of that.

So, from the beginning, the price was really high to replace windows, but they needed to be done. Everywhere else was more. As I stated earlier, the men that showed up were late, and didn't call to say that they would be. At the time of the initial booking of installation, 2 appointments were made. At the second appointment, the men installed our upstairs windows. That was a nightmare. The new windows leaked so much that when the wind blew, it howled in the house! And they installed them so far forward in the frame that my husband couldn't put our blinds back up. We called the company to tell them that we needed help and they told us too bad, not our problem. We asked to speak to a manager, he yelled at my husband and told us that we should have told the installation men before they put the windows in that we had blinds. Then we tried called the OWNER, Brian Elias, three times, and he never called us back. So, we tried calling the guy that sold us the windows in the first place and he sent the installation guys out again. They told us it was a problem with our sliding, but we never had this problem before the windows were put in. We called BBB, and filed a complaint. Long story short, it never got resolved. Hansons never did anything. Our blinds still cant be put up. Eventually, we had a consumers out to do a energy eval on our home and they fixed the windows with just some putty. PUTTY! and 3 seconds of their time. It wasn't the siding, and we knew it wasn't. A customer service rep called during this time and asked me questions and I told him all that was going on, he promised to do something, but nothing ever happened from that call either. We were very disappointed.

This was horrid. Horrid. Seriously people, don't do it. Bad work, bad customer service, extremely unprofessional. I should have refused to pay the second half of the bill, but I was naive then. There's a big list here: 1. We have an old house and some of the slats under the shingles were rotting. We agreed they would replace that wood with plywood. They said they only replace the bad wood because why throw away good old wood?. That was a mistake. The eaves of our house show the wood underneath - as old houses do. Now they show partial slats and partial plywood. We shouldn't have agreed to that, but mea culpa. Thing is, they didn't actually remove ALL of the broken or rotted old wood. There are gaps 1.5 inches wide by about 18 inches in between some places where the old wood cracked and the plywood was put in. It looks awful and is going to let water in under the shingles. I think it's probably because they didn't want to use more plywood, since they were subcontractors and it would cut into their profit. When we called them to complain they said they won't fix problems like that until they start causing problems! We called back once because one of the spaces WAS causing a problem (water entry) and the subcontractor who came to look at it said they won't fix gaps unless they're at least 2 inches wide. Two inches! 2. Read #1 and consider the fact that because my attic is drywalled, I have no way of knowing what else they did halfway. There could be huge gaps in my roof and I won't know until they start leaking. And some places have. Imagine that. 3. When they tore up the old shingles and tar paper, it was a seriously hot day. Trying to keep the tar from melting too much, they sprayed water onto the roof, which I understand. But they used my *neighbor's hose* without asking! And then, because the old roof was (surprise!) bad underneath, which was WHY we had called them in the first place, water started pouring into my kitchen through a light fixture! I mean honestly pouring in. I ran out there to get them to stop and they just looked at me and told me why they were doing it. I do not CARE why! I want the water in my kitchen to stop! They argued with me about it and then looked extremely put out. I really should have called and demanded another crew, because I think they were offended enough to not do the rest of the roof right, but like I said, I was naive. 4. Cigarette butts everywhere. Other garbage everywhere. The paper that shingles come in, styrofoam cups from their coffee, bags from their lunches. Torn up shingles everywhere. Including the roof of my neighbor's shed. 6. Nails everywhere!!! I still find one every once in a while. That's just neglectfully dangerous. If you've read this far and are still considering using Hanson's for any work at all, you are a braver person than I am. I wish I had had Angie's List back then.
Description of Work: New roof, including tear off of all old shingles and partial tear off of wood underneath.

The service that they provided us was good. They were helpful. But they didn't communicate well with us or notify us if something was going on. There not quite responsible enough.
Description of Work: For some window replacements, I contacted Hansons Windows to do the job for me.
