Description of Work: Howard from Pollard Heating arrived on time, took care of my 1968 A/C and got it working with no fuss at all. He recommended that I don't replace it until it dies as it works just fine. He explained the condition, results of the test, etc. and I would say with no hesitation that I'm calling Pollard if I need a new HVAC unit.

Description of Work: Pollard Heating and Cooling provided and installed a furnace, heat pump/ air conditioner. We were very happy with the experience from start to finish. They were responsive to our questions, punctual for all appointments and estimates. They left the house neat and clean. We are also happy with the products they recommended. Description of Work: Our outside A/C unit had stopped running, the technician found a loss of voltage in the line that supplies power to the unit. This was the result of a bad circuit board in the interrupted service box. The tech by-passed this service until DTE could replace it. Our A/C unit was back up and running within 10 mins. of their arrival. Now that's how it should be done.

Description of Work: Heil variable speed blower not working, paperwork shows they suggested replacement of control board, motor and motor module, without testing any individual components. I assumed that tech was originally only going to get all parts and use only what was needed, paperwork reflects different. I verified that module was bad, and even if they had replaced this component only, they couldn't get it for maybe 7 days. I repaired in less time by replacement of < $2 varistor which I had to mail order. Motors are basically bullet proof, only bearings may go bad, and coils easily checked, and this varistor has only a mfg life of 5 years, very common and normal for them to fail with no reflection on other components. Offered free of charge for tech to be given extra components I ordered so maybe he could of charged some customer a nominal fee to just repair for 50-100 dollars vs 4-500 dollars and be a hero and make money, declined my offer.

He re-charged the unit as required and ever cleaned the casing of the outside unit. He then gave me a few good tips about running my A/C and things to look out for.  + -1 moreWe wanted to add A/C to our 1930 house that had steam heat. Rather than just add the A/C, Pollard suggested that we completely dismantle our current boiler/radiator system and he would install two HVAC units: one in the attic for the second floor, another identical unit in the basement serving the first floor. The total cost would be less than installing a SpacePak unit. We couldn't be happier with the solution. We have two zones and two independent thermostats which makes the heating and cooling of the house much more even. The installers did a very professional job: the city electrical inspectors commented on the great installation job. Since both furnaces are high efficiency, we got a rebate from our electrical company. We donated the old boiler and radiators to a local charity and were able to deduct the donation on our taxes. We couldn't be happier with the new HVAC units, and I've already recommended Pollard to several friends. If we move to another house, and need HVAC work done, I would call Pollard first, and probably nobody else. We had a minor problem with a noisy upstairs unit, but they fixed it quickly. I highly recommend Pollard.
Description of Work: We wanted to add air conditioning to our 82 year old house. Pollard was the least expensive quote, and the contractor in whom I had the most confidence after all four quotes were in. He came up with an innovative solution, and implemented it (see below) in a very professional manner.

Howard suggested replacing the boiler with a high efficiency furnace and A/C unit in the attic to service the 2nd floor, and an identical unit in the basement for the first floor. The cost would be less than a SpacePak installation. They showed up on time, did a very professional job, cleaned up every day, and came in on budget. The entire job took two weeks. There was a minor issue with noise in the upstairs unit, but they found and fixed the problem quickly. We couldn't be happier with our new HVAC units and with the level of service provided by Pollard. We won't need their services again unless we move, but won't hesitate to call them first.
