Cedar Works

We've recently built a home and our experience with the various contractors was mostly poor to the point that I started to believe that it was just how the industry operated. Getting quotes from the various deck builders was not much different until one of our neighbors recommended Cedar Works. Dealing with Jamie Ruddy at Cedar Works was a breath of fresh air - professional, punctual, attentive and competitively priced. We received a quote promptly and the build was completed within one week. Jamie even came by over the weekend to help us with the color selection. I highly recommend Cedar Works.

Owner was on time and immediately ready with ideas for my future deck. I received an estimate by e-mail as he promised. The price was higher than I could afford this year, because I decided on trex. I told him that I would like to talk to him next year. Overall, the visit went well and I will use this companies services next year.

Met Jamie April 7th to review my project ideas. Sent him details of my deck concepts on April 9th to build a proposal and options. Here it is May 5th, 3 emails for followup and no response. That's a solid F. UPDATE 5/26 Jamie was able to address the initial communication issues, and provided concepts to match the vision of our deck as well quote.

Efficient, expert carpentry!!, cleaned up site completely, even used magnets to make sure all nails were picked up, installed complimentary step lights for using Angie's list referral, all staff was courteous. Rip out crew and install crew were coordinated and efficient with their time. We were amazed at how fast the deck went in and how every carpentry detail was addressed with no short cuts or compromise on quality of construction. Contractor did what he said he would do with no complications what so ever.

I received quotes from 3 different sources. i chose Cedar Works primarily because Bob Sala was extremely punctual and professional. He also combined a full description of products and options with a good sense of humor. The quote was pretty much in line with the others. The job started and finished as promised, despite inclement weather. The workmen were very tidy and careful not to disturb my existing plantings as much as humanly possible. Great job! Great people!

We liked them. They were very good to deal with. We talked to some other people before we went with them. They were just very responsive either by phone or by email. They were much cheaper than some of the general contractors. I think it was better to have someone where that was their dedicated line of work. They had nice little ideas and better execution. The price was good. Jamie was good to work with. We would certainly recommend them.

He was very professional. The literature he provided made a lot of sense but the only reason I did not use them is because I found a cheaper company that was cheaper.

We were impressed with Jamie's knowledge and professionalism. We have hired him to upgrade our deck, and are waiting for a start date. We will update this review after completion of our project, but we do feel confident at Cedar Works will do a good job. Our deck is complete and is beautiful. Jamie is great to work with. We had a couple of minor issues with the deck, but Jamie sent his crew back out and those were corrected. I would recommend Cedar Works because building decks is their only business and they know how to do it right.

We are mid project so far. The framing is up on the 3 seasons room and 90% of the decking is done. Their workmanship is beautiful. They are craftsmen who take pride in their work from Jamie the owner to all of the crews. They are polite, happy, enthusiastic,and meticulous. They do a good job cleaning up each day. Other than the weather delays, everyone has been every timely. A neighbor of ours used them and gave great reviews. We looked at their workmanship and put together a plan with them. So far so good. I will update this when it is completed.

He seemed very professional, easy to work with, and friendly.

All done quickly and efficiently, at far lower cost than others had estimated.

Our hot tub enclosure was looking very shabby and needed some major work. Jamie assessed the situation and put a plan together, which his team then executed fast and efficiently. The end results are beautiful, and I'm glad I went with him!

Great job! The building crew were so quick, and attention to detail did not suffer one bit! It's a beautiful deck and we couldn't be more pleased! Gave a "B" ob price because it isn't a great deal. It's about average. Workmanship is very good and I would go with them again! Worth paying a little more.

He completed the job while I was working on a hard scape area and was very flexable about working around me. My original vision was for a deck with multiple layers and would have been quite a bit more expensive then the deck we built. Because t he deck was built around a walkout basement Terry convinced me to go with something much simpler - and less expensive. He has pictures of his portfolio and used those to help me decide on the just the right deck for my situation. I would recommend Jamie and Cedar Works to anyone building a deck and I would use him again if I had the chance.

Our meeting went very well. However, I decided not to go with the company at this time.

My husband and I moved into our new house in 2013. We knew before buying it that we wanted the basement finished. We needed someone to come in and add an in-home office since my husband works from home. We also do a lot of entertaining so we wanted to add a wet bar and a bathroom. And since we were taking away a lot of our storage space we also wanted to add some storage shelves in the back room. Jamie, the owner, was able to get us an appointment right away and we were very happy with his punctuality. After meeting with Steve, the designer, we had a clear idea of everything we wanted. He was also great and full of awesome ideas for us. Things that we hadn't thought of, he had. They got us the quote in a very timely manner, once we had it all figured out , we decided to go ahead with Cedar Works. They started within the week and it took about 4 weeks for them to finish everything. It was such a pleasure to work with Jamie, Steve, and his crew. They were very accommodating to our family?s needs. The basement is our favorite place in the house and my husband now has an efficient in-home office.

Jaime and his staff at Cedarworks (Sam) were very professional in customer service, promptness and delivery. Pricing was excellent for what we ordered,On completion, since the balcony is tall, there was one area where the underhanging boards were exposed and it did not look finished. We brought it to Jaime's attention and he promptly took care of it. The balcony looks great!

Jamie and the Cedarworks team are great. They build an amazing deck for us last summer and I just remembered to give them a glowing review. Cabin fever is kicking in and we want to go outside and enjoy our new deck. Cedar works is professional, intelligent, efficient. They handled the permits and inspections. We were on a tight budget last year but still opted for the maintenance free composite material. Their prices are perfectly fair. They are not some random low ball company but more of a well oiled machine which allows them to justify their pricing.

As an architect I am a challenging client for contractors and I am critical of their work. Cedar Works made the grade. Jamie was extremely professional, responsive and conscientious. He worked through a value engineering process to with us to get the deck within our budget. He built my design different than his typical details. His team was knowledgeable and skilled. They were concerned about the details and adjusted them where their ideas differed from my preferred approach. Jamie also recommended tree removal companies and landscape companies where we needed them and his recommended contractors performed with the same ethic that Jamie did. We are very pleased.

Project involved a bit more work than anticipated because the joists extended beyond the original deck into the structure of the house. Although a significant amount of additional work was required, Jamie stood by his original price. Without a doubt the best contractor that I have ever hired.

Excellent company, their work is outstanding. We had a very large custom pergola design in mind using oversized beams, roman columns, and a small 2nd story deck with iron rails (very much a formal garden design). Jamie (the owner) was able to take the concept and make it real...he understood what we were looking for. He spec'd incredible oversized beams and was able to create the exact look. The crew was phenomenal...the level of experience and attention to detail was superior. They were easy to work with and very motivated. We discussed many aspects and small changes or questions were no problem. It felt like they really were trying to work with us to create the right end result. After the pergola was finished, we decided to extend one side of it to more balance the look, Jamie worked with us on the concept and within a couple of weeks (we had to order more beams), the added extension was up as well. It should be noted that our landscaper (whom we trust very much) recommended Cedar Works because of his experience with their work. I will also say that we did get a couple of other bids on the project and Cedar Works was the most competitive number (one bid was more than twice the bid amount by Cedar Works).

It went wonderful! Jamie was very responsive in calling back, and the actual carpenter team was also fantastic. The price was reasonable and when there were a few unforeseen issues with our deck, they were very good at responding and resolving them. I made my decision to use them when I not only saw their good reviews, but when I saw that they take responsibility and fix any issues encountered.

Even after multiple changes they were patient with us, and gave un-biased advice (i,e advice not tailored to just increase price of deck but as if they are thinking for us). Their crew was very professional and courteous. They are one of the best deck builders in the area i think because many new homes in our sub got deck built from them. Thus they are busy and schedule your build soon enough. We did not get any one else's quote and are really happy. We also recommended them to our friends in same sub, and they are also happy with Cedar Works.

The owner of the company came out promptly and on time. He was very friendly. Unfortunately, he lacked specific knowledge about the Timbertech brand. But he was an expert at core composite decking materials and decking knowledge. I would recommend him on most decking jobs based on his experience and expertise, just not Timbertech.

We met with Jamie (the owner), he came out and helped us to design our proposed deck. Within about a week we had a firm proposal in hand and we were ready to get started. Jamie kept us up to date on the permit process and submitted the deck plans to our HOA. Once construction began, the deck was built in about 2 days which we thought was quite remarkable.
