Description of Work: Owner provided references for trex decks they build. The quality of the work at several cases was poor. I spoke to home owners and pointed out some of the problems such as loose handrails, loose or flimsy around the deck rails, cracked or split facial, and poor cuts. When I questioned the owner on their construction techniques to ensure this would not happen to me, he became very agitated picked up his material and left without saying good bye in my own home. The next day he said I asked too many questions and questioned his work and would not do business with us. I feel this was very unprofessional. I was asking questions in good faith because I was truly interested.

Description of Work: We were given a very professional presentation mid June about our deck project and told we would receive an estimate by June 28th. We had not heard back by July 10th and had been sitting on another estimate so we called and told them to forget it. Only then did they try to get ahold of us but by then it was to late.

Description of Work: They built us a beautiful 400 sq ft Trex deck. We scouted 3 companies, and Cedar Works really listened to us. In fact, that was the reason we chose them...they took the time to understand what we wanted and came up with a beautiful plan. | |Jamie was in charge of construction and very responsive when we had questions. There were a few minor issues with communication about timing (which is why I gave them a B) but overall the deck was completed in the expected timeframe. | |We had them extend a section of existing roofline to create a covered area (6' deep) and it is my FAVORITE part of the whole deck. It blends seamlessly with the house and looks like it part of the original construction. This was a concern for us beforehand, and they really delivered! | |We highly recommend Cedar Works for your deck. | |

Description of Work: Built elevated composite deck. Craftsmanship was outstanding, deck was completed in 3 days which was as promised. There were some issues coordinating with the landscaper. Follow-up and responsiveness did not meet my expectations. But I am very pleased with the final product. Everyone that sees the deck is very impressed and asks who I used to build it.

+ -1 moreDeck turned out fabulous. I couldn't be happier. I called Jamie for an estimate after I found his company on the TREX website and AngiesList. Jamie came out and we discussed options for the deck. He had some great ideas but also listened to my ideas and we came up with great design. Jamie has a great crew. They are fast but efficient. They came out one day to tear out the old deck and drop off the materials. They came out another day to build the deck. They ran out of materials so someone came out to clean up the existing mess and drop off materials. Another hour of one day was spent finishing up. Jamie and his crew are very professional, with and they know what they are doing. Jamie explained how to clean the deck and what I needed to do to maintain it. The deck is great..the privacy wall turned out better than I could have imagined. The ballisters on the deck were done in bronze colored aluminum. Check out the attached picture!
Description of Work: Refaced 12x12 wood deck using TREX. Had existing 12x12 wood deck and wanted it refaced with TREX. I was able to keep the frame of the deck. The original deck was pressure treated wood with railings all around and two steps. Deck was modified to include wrap around steps and 6ft privacy wall.

+ -1 moreI called Cedarworks on a Monday. Jamie came out that Thursday and gave us a very fair quote. As promised, the work (tear-out of the old deck) started the following Tuesday and the rebuild and clean-up was done by that Thursday. During the course of the work I communicated with Jamie (by phone and e-mail) some minor issues/concerns that I had, which were all easily resolved to my complete satisfaction. The deck is beautiful and has completely transformed the front of our condo. We are planning to add a deck in the back (probably next year) and will definitely use Cedarworks to do it.
Description of Work: Cedarworks completely rebuilt the 3-tiered, step-up deck on the front of our condo using Trex Brasilia composite decking. They also replaced/fortified the foundation.

+ 0 moreWe interviewed multiple contractors and visited with their references before choosing Jamie and Cedar Works. What caused us to choose Jamie was the quality of the work we saw and the recommendations from his customers. The work he did was beautiful and his work was head and shoulders above the others we looked at. Jamie gave us great advice and guidance all through the process even giving us some tips on working with other contractors, for example obtaining a lien release. Our deck is beautiful and the quality of the workmanship is outstanding. Jamie was open to changes and very open to working with us to accommodate our design changes and requests.
Description of Work: Jamie worked with us to design two decks and a pergola. He then built all of them for us. The decks are made from Eon (a synthetic material) and the pergola is constructed from Cedar. They are large structures, the decks are approximately 1300 square feet in total and the pergola measures about 25 by 20. The work was done in conjunction with having a patio built and major landscaping so it was a complex project involving multiple people and companies.

He showed us pictures of his previous work, offered ideas, listened to my ideas, and presented options for challenges posed by job. Next, provided a detailed quote with a quick turnaround. Once job was contracted, worked diligently to get permit and pre-order long lead materials. Was sensitive to existing construction situation, including protecting new driveway, working with tight spaces for transporting materials, repairing damaged sprinkler lines, and maintaining clean job site. Matched brick with original brick used for house. Purchased and installed door for existing porch at no extra cost. Once job was near completion, didn't mention final payment until everything was complete to my satisfaction. The deck is very solid and looks awesome!

The men that came were very professional and courteous the entire time and they cleaned up really well when they finished. I would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They installed a brand new 20 foot by 10 foot deck in my backyard. They started construction about one month after we signed the contract, and the deck took about a week to complete. All the used material and waste was thrown out by them when they left.

+ -1 moreThe owner came out to the house and actually engineered the solution to our problem. He is a degreed engineer so we were very confident in his abilities and design. All of the work was completed during the day while we were at work and no access was required to the house during the job. This was extremely convenient for us. They tore out the deck the first day and removed ALL of the mess which was remarkable. The second day they completed the deck and stacked the pile neatly for the next days finishing and clean up. We were just so impressed with Jamie, his skills and the work. You could hire anyone with a hammer and nails, but go with CedarWorks and rest easy that the job was done right.
Description of Work: Cedar Works ripped out a rotted deck off our Master suite and installed a TREX system as a replacement. The deck was built on the frame of our roof and showed signs of future structural problems if not addressed. Jamie engineered a water runoff and deck solution for our home which will eliminate future major structural repair.
