Description of Work: I hired Steve Reinke to build a pole barn in August 2014. Things didn't happen like we talked about, or even as specified in the contract. The project didn't start or finish in the time frame promised. | |He lied to me and said it was code to have OSB sheathing down to ground level. After he lied, I felt like I needed to hire a quality assurance contractor to check everything the other contractors were doing. | |The grading around the building was wrong. Large areas of grass were destroyed. An even larger area was left with ruts from trucks that didn't need to be driving there. The building was finished in December, and the outside concrete was poured the week before Memorial Day. That gave me the months of June and July to fix the grade, repair the damage, and plant grass. He said he would fix the ruts in the grass that wasn't destroyed, but that never happened. I sent the final check when I got tired of waiting for people to show up, do a half assed job, and do more damage. | |If you don't want to second guess and double check everything that's said and done, hire someone else.

 + 0 moreAll interaction with Steve Reinke and his crew was wonderful. His crew was respectful (no swearing) and friendly. They worked hard and did high quality work. His crew (including Steve) was thoughtful. Not just regarding the emotional process of a large renovation, but also in the way they anticipated different aspects of the job. They recognized upcoming decisions that would have to be made and thought through the options. They then presented them to me with great detail so that I could make good decisions. His foreman Chris was very inventive and skilled at building a bookcase from start to finish. The pride he holds in his work is wonderful. He brought a joy to the project that I really appreciated. His brother Steve (not the owner Steve Reinke) designed and built the corbels on the front of my house. He was concerned with proportion and function (didn't want them to be too long as he was concerned that water would settle on the ends-causing rot). They are fabulous. Mid way through the project we all discovered that the woman I had hired as the project manager (Leslie Hart-Davidson of Hart-Davidson Designs) had misrepresented the amount of Mr. Reinke's bid. She told me it was approximately $12,200 more than it was. When she refused to discuss this with me she also stopped paying Mr. Reinke. He was honorable and considerate during this difficult time. He has worked with me to rework the arrangement so that I would not be left with a house exposed to the elements during the winter. Although this situation (through NO fault of Mr. Reinke's) has caused a long delay in finishing the job, Mr. Reinke has kept every promise and fulfilled every expectation with excellence. I would recommend him without hesitation.
Description of Work: He installed a large dormer on my second floor. He also built a new porch with pillars and built a wonderful bookshelf in the new interior space. He also did fine quality trim work around the new windows (he installed) and baseboards. Really beautiful quality.

 + -1 moreHe did not communicate well and I never knew when he was going to come. Otherwise, he did a great job and did the job as promised. It was a one day project and he was able to do the job when I was not home. He was very professional when he came in for the original estimate. The weather at this time was very rainy, so it was understandable that he came when the weather permitted.
Description of Work: I have a garden shed and he replaced the roof and the shingles.
