When they arrived they decided that because of the roof lines of my home, it would not be possible to do the work. They did want to accidentally cover any vents. I had wondered as our roof line is crazy and I really appreciated their honesty.

It went pretty well. They came out shortly after we purchased the big deal. There were additional charges aside from the big deal purchase. We spent another $520. 300 square feet wasn't enough to do the whole attic. That was the first time I've used them. There was a little miscommunication between what the salesman said and what the installers thought they could do. I was kind of disappointed that there was one part of my attic that they couldn't do. The salesman thought they could get in there and the installers said they couldn't. So, part of it never got insulated.

The ad was miss leading, it claimed that you would get 500.00 worth of insulation for 167.00. What you really get was a 500.00 discount from 2200.00, 1700.00. This ad was falsely produced & should be removed from this listing.

Everyone at the company with whom we have had contact has been extremely helpful and professional. The installers were thorough and diligent. They did a very good job and cleaned up after themselves so that we really couldn't tell they had been there. We look forward to greatly reduced heating and cooling bills. We had to reschedule the installation and the company was very accommodating. Our house is brick and the men did an excellent job in filling the holes they drilled in the mortar. We are very pleased. Thank you all!

The USA insulation sales team (Tom) and office staff were prompt, and professional. They answered all of my questions. The installation team were also prompt and professional. When I pointed out a spot in the rim joist that I needed filled (Mike) on the installation team did it for me - no problem. My home was small enough that the job could be completed within one day. I also called the office in early August because the energy company processing my rebate did not read the notes section on the invoice with the square footage information. Erica in the office said she would take care of it immediately with the energy company and point out the notes section to them. I would gladly do business with USA insulation again.

The crew was prompt, efficient, and a lot of fun, and very patient with my bunch of dogs that feel the need to supervise everything. They cleaned up after themselves and except for having to paint over the plugs in the wood portion of the exterior, you would never know they had been there. They took extra time and care to work around a bizarre cat enclosure I built years ago that couldn't be moved. This was a fairly pricey endeavor, but the difference in the temperature in our house is amazing, and I think it will be totally worthwhile in the long run, resulting in lower heating and cooling bills.

Tom came out and gave us an estimate. He asked specifically why I'd called them. I told him exactly what my concern was. He quoted us 2 different price levels: one for the 'absolutely necessary' and one whole house (walls, attics, etc.) Given the significant cost difference (about $4k), we opted for the 'absolutely necessary' list. We set up a day and time, and I gave him our deposit. The crew showed up on time and were courteous. However, the work they did in our crawlspace was subpar. When my husband got home from work, he checked out what they'd done, only to find that a whole row of batten was missing from the crawlspace ceiling, none of the batten that they'd put in was tacked in, and it was sliced in places w/ big gaps between pieces. My husband contacted Tom & he sent another technician out to inspect the work about a week later. Upon determining that the work was indeed subpar, the technician set to work getting the job done right. He came in the morning to inspect and then came back later in the day to do the work needed, requiring my husband to take a full day off of work to supervise. While at the end of the day the work that was done was done right, we will likely not call USA Insulation back. Between the poor job they did on our crawlspace initially and the fact that the 'absolutely necessary' list did NOT include the main reason I'd called them out here (nor was it addressed at all in the estimates), I don't feel like I got the A service promised. I clearly didn't stress to Tom how important my reason for calling them was, and that's my fault. But the initial shoddy workmanship sealed the deal. We got what we paid for, and in the end the job was done correctly - but all of our needs were not met.

Professional, knowledgable, timely. It seems pretty standard now for companies to say they will get back with you, but never do. I am not getting anything done on the remodel of my house because I can't even get a price. I shouldn't have to chase every service provider keeping a detailed log of everyone I need to hear from. There are no details to give because there are none.
Description of Work: Sales rep spent considerable time with me on a Saturday morning. Unusual home required them to discuss pricing and get back with me. I basically spent $100 for a salesmen to give me a quote, which I never obtained. Would love my money back.

Communication Problem I was at work at the time job was done. I hope to save on energy bills. I mailed papers provided by USA insulation for energy credit, but it appears this credit was cancelled back in April due to lack of funds. I am disappointed with communication between this writer and company. I have asked if there are any discounts and/or coupons available. I was told none, except I can get credit for attending Home Show in Novi. I believe I mentioned to sales rep, I signed up for Angie?s List membership when attending Home Show. Now I discovered company has/had discounts: Example 90% of, 111 for $1,000 Toward Complete Home Insulation (Including Walls and Attic), etc I am disappointed with lack of communication and/or withholding information. It is always on the consumer side, every job needed has to be researched, dissected by consumer, and/or apply for PhD in each subject. It is never on the provider?s side. It is always, consumer is stupid, did not do enough research. However, not any different from other providers, industry norm?

Response from USA Insulation of Detroit
The $1,000 coupon referenced was not available for this project. This coupon is applicable only when insulating your entire home including all walls and attic (as outlined on the coupon offer itself). Since this project included only partial walls and was not a whole home project this coupon was not offered. This is always explained to the customer as we consistently try to get the best deal possible for our customers - especially when we run multiple coupons on Angie's List. Finally, when a customer decides to go with 0 percent financing over 60 months it limits our ability to offer additional discounts as the 0% financing alone represents a significant financial savings to the customer.

All in all it went pretty well. Got some conflicting information about whether or not the existing insulation was problematic or could be insulated over from the sales guy and then the home office, but hopefully got the right answer in the end. Installers were prompt and seemed to know what they were doing, but less able to answer questions and make assessments about the condition of what was already in the attic than we had been led to believe.

I bought the coupon from Angie's list. Called after a few weeks to set up appointment for price quote. USA insulation sent an gentleman who gave me enough information to understand what options are available with pros and cons. Ordered R60 over R49 due to additional cost of only just over $130. Insulation came the next Friday and it completed in less than1.5 hours, quicker than 3 hours that I was told. No big mess left for me to clean up which is a plus. I cannot tell if the insulation is worthy or not yet because Winter's just gone and Summer's just arrived. However, I am happy with the whole experience so far and hope that the new insulation will really help us in cutting down the utility cost.

Overall the job was done quickly and professionally. The workmen (2) were very friendly and the one doing the blowing of the insulation was very helpful, answered all my questions and was concerned about me being in the dust. I wanted to watch but he explained the insulation would be flying and I didn't have a mask and he would call me when he finish so I could see what he had done. After he finished they cleaned the area packed their stuff and was gone. In and out!
Description of Work: The truck arrived within the window given and started working. The insulation was put in the attic. I had just had new carpet and a new floor put in so they came thru the attic window making sure insulation wasn't on the new carpet. With the attic being dusty and dirty, they made sure everytime they walked out they covered their feet with booties. On one side, the insulation was blown on top of the floor so they had to put up some boards to keep it from falling over to the other side that is used for storage, they were suppose to put a board across the window also and started without the board, it was caught in time and the serviceman (forgot his name but he was from Ireland) immediatly put it in place. On the storage side they drill holes in the floor and shot the insulation in between the joist and then put the plugs back in.

The product, once getting the correct one, was excellent. HOWEVER, sales experience was awful! I called and a sales rep by the name of Steve came out. He was quoting me a lower grade product (open cell) than what I was looking for, rather than explain there were different products at different grades and R factors, he quoted me the lesser so to price the job lower making it more attractive. And in fact, he gave a bogus R value, my husband's reviewing the product and doing the math said that no way could it be an R value that he told me. Steve was well aware, and in-fact saw what we were replacing, as it hadn't been removed as yet. Which, was blanket insulation that was at an R19. What he quoted me was less than what I already had! but he told me it was R20, saying it was standard in new construction. And, when I called to add to my order, having measured while I was on the phone with him, he wrote the order as 1.foot, 4 inches rather than 14 foot. When I questioned him on the product he was selling me, he quoted me the better "closed cell" which was MORE than double the original price. I was angry with him and asked him why he would sell me something less than what I had? Because I was stuck, as my contractors were on hold so that I could get this insulation in, I agreed to the higher price. I didn't have time to find another company as the drywall was coming the next day. I must say, that the company was apologetic and gave me a break of $379 However, I ended up paying $1,500, and my original quote was $852.. This price included having them spray the rim joists and the cavities over the cement basement walls, and because it was difficult to see into the cavities, they missed quite a bit, and some ended up with nothing in them. My husband had to purchase can's of foam and do them himself. Again, we didn't have time to call them back out, as it was holding up our contractors. And, it's doubtful that they'd come out for a 6 rim joists as it requires a large truck with a large compressor and some cooking time. The installers were disappointed in the sales experience I had and were trying to do an excellent and professional job to make up for it. If they hadn't missed the cavities, I would be giving them 5 stars. They were timely, dealt with the sales persons errors, worked diligently and cleaned up extensively. So I give the installers 4.5 stars. It's a great and expensive product, the installers are professional, but you should have a ladder and flash light and double check those cavities before they roll up the hoses. Beware of the sales rep and be sure to know more about the product rather than trust the salesman to be up front and honest and have YOU make a choice. The room is warmer, there are no drafts and the difference in sound is amazing. It's a great product and I'd love to go through and do more or our exterior walls.

USA Insulation did a great job! Ryan and Jim were my main installers and they were on time, courteous an professional. The installation was not without its challenges. My foremost goal in hiring them was to insulate my upstairs bedroom walls. This was tricky because on the backside of the main walls were partial attic areas that did not have standard walls...you could not even really call what was in place a wall...it was a type of board insulation that was stapled to the studs. The guys called someone else to come out and give input on the best way to how to handle the situation. The person they called, Chris, came out immediately...together they looked things over...discussed it and decided the board insulation was secure enough to withstand the pressure from the foam fill. They were careful with this area and it held up perfectly! They were excellent at cleaning up after the job too. They had to drill inside for the master bedroom. I have plaster walls...they cleaned up all the dust from the drilling...were careful and protective of my furniture during the entire process. I dare say my room was cleaner after they left! You can see where they drilled. They patched the holes...but I have to paint over the patches. They were very upfront about that before they ever started the job. Where they had to drill through the stone outside...you would never know there were holes. They filled the holes and mixed a color to match the stone. These guys did an outstanding job!! I was very happy with them start to finish.
Description of Work: The job was to install foamed-in Wall Insulation to a 1970 A-Frame Home. The service requires drilling holes in the outside of the house (when possible) and the repairing the holes after the insulation is pumped into the wall cavity. Due to the way my siding was hung on the outside of my master bedroom, they had to drill holes inside the room and fill and patch after the install. It was about a 5 to 6 hour day...drilling takes awhile. A few areas required drilling through stone.

The two installers arrived on time and were very courteous and clean. The insulation was done quicker than I had imagined and they cleaned up well when they were finished.I would highly recommend them to anyone who is considering this type of work.
Description of Work: They added much needed insulation in the attic. They closed the end vents, installed tubing from the two bathroom fans to the ridge vent, blew in the insulation to a R19 level, and put up a cardboard wall around the drop-ladder entrance. They added more insulation on the ladder-door.
