The Outdoor Advantage LLC

Originally scheduled as a 4 to 7 day project with a 4 man crew. On day two it was clear that the reminents of tropical storm Karen would be arriving next day and would impact our weather for days. Dave brought in a 10 to 12 man crew and they worked for what most have been 12 hours and completed most of the project. All that remained after day 2 was to overlay the stoop, rearrange a couple of plants and mulch and that was completed as soon as the weather permitted. Everyone who hires a contractor and is paying good money wants to see a well coordiated efficiently run project with all hands working hard and doing a professional job. That is what I experienced with Dave Ewell and his Team from The Outdoor Advantage, LLC. I would use them again and would gladly recommend them to anyone like me who wants real value for his hard earned money.

The crew is very professional. Although we only have a small piece of property they do a very thorough job in an amazingly short period of time. Although there was a bumpy period when their scheduling person was recovering from a serious illness, that is now in the past and they are back at the top of their game.

They did a good job. I actually just hired them again in July and they did a blue stone walkway with a brick border, which was about $5,500.

They had a very busy schedule but eventually got to me. Users should be prepared that they won't get to you as soon as you'd like, but it was a good bargain.

They worked quickly and cleaned up afterward.

Dave is very responsive. When I emailed him, I let him know I was in desperate need of yard work...he responded right away with a date. He kept in communication with me to let me know when to expect the crew at the house. Then he followed up with me afterwards to make sure it went well. They did an outstanding job. It looks great. I first met Dave at the beginning of the summer and asked him to come do a spring clean up and they did a fantastic job. I asked him about my current landscaping (it was only a year and a half old) and i felt like it could be freshened up... he recommended leaving it. He said it looked nice and that we did not need to go to the expense or trouble of changing it so soon. We will be using Dave again for sure. The are very professional and the price was right. They were great. They let me purchase multiple hours at the deal price. Making an appointment was easy. They showed up on time. The lead guy was very friendly and they worked very fast. They did an impressive amount of work in the time allotted. Not only did they remove all of the leaves from my property but they were also able to pull a whole bunch of weeds and trim back bushes and trees.

I am a big fan of the team at Outdoor Advantage and would/will definitely use them again. They started and finished the job on time and exceeded my expectations in every way. I recently had a very negative experience with a landscaper that I had to remove from my property so I know a good landscaper and a professional team when I see one- and Outdoor Advantage is one. They made sure that things were done right and went the extra mile without increasing the price to the job. They really transformed my yard.

In short, the overall job just plainly exceeded my wildest expectations. I really didn't know that one could readily afford this outstanding quality of work. Several aspects of my design were pretty tricky and the Dave Ewell and his crew suggested some very nice alternatives. I could not be more pleased, and I would definitely use them again -- and I would recommend their services to family and friends. Good old fashioned quality and service. You won't be disappointed!

Service went as planned. Two men arrived and promptly cleaned the gutters out.

I was really turned off because he was really trying to make the sale; I wanted lawn care and minimal paver repair work. Dave was trying to convince me to upgrade and to do major work on my pavers, which really wasn't needed. He found fault with all the work the previous contractor had completed, which was done in 2008-2009. My home was built in 2008, big house, nice layout. One example, the previous contractor had cut pieces of pavers to fill in smaller areas, he criticized, saying it looked terrible and he would never have filled in those areas that way. He recommended we take it all up. Granted, some repairs were needed because of minor sinking in some areas, but NOT the extensive work he was trying to convince us we needed. He was bragging about his ratings on Angie's List and why his prices were so much more than other contractors. I really didn't like his attitude. He kept emailing trying to get us to change our mind.

It went well. I used to use The Outdoor Advantage for yard-work tasks, but I felt that they became less well-organized as the company grew quickly.

We are very satisfied with the results. Dave met us early on to discuss our ideas and planned out the general layout. He was very good to offer suggestions as to different options and plants that would work well in our yard. He and his workers were punctual and showed up when they said they would (barring difficulties with weather) and finished everything in a timely manner. We would be happy to recommend his company to anyone requiring landscape or hardscape work and we will almost certainly be using this company for future work.

My 1/2 acre yard had been ignored for years. There were layers growing on layers. They dug out years of neglect. The crew worked very well together, they re-created beds, found my buried stone paths, trimmed tress and pruned plants. The yard looks beautiful again! The team was very professional. I will definitely use them on an ongoing basis to maintain the yard. GJG

Purchased "big deal" for leaf removal - I believe the cost was $399. I have a large yard and when they were about 2/3 through the foreman told me it would cost more than what was on the "deal". Perhaps this is fair due to the size of the yard - but I should have been told before they were 2/3 of the way through - I would have asked them to only do part of the yard and I would have done the remainder. As it was I had no choice but to pay the addition ($200 I believe). I called the owner to provide this feedback. That said - from the standpoint of quality of product, punctuality, courtesy, professionalism, etc - they were great.

The survey went fine. waited a few weeks did not get the computerized drawing. Contacted him again. he said he sent it 2 weeks ago. I checked angies list. no email. I gave him my personal email. He sent me a test message. I responded that the message was received. I have yet to receive the computerized drawing.I am going to ask angies list for a refund.

We and to constantly e-mail him and wait for our computer rendering which were very basic. He forgot a lot of details about plants that he and my wife went over. It has been almost two months and we still don't have a clear picture on a landscape design.

I was unable to use the big deal due to not receiving the plans associated with the deal or a response from the company. He was professional, polite when he came out for the estimate. I only received a quote for the work no plans and no follow up.

They were here on time, and very responsive when I called to ask questions.

Could not be more pleased. The outcome exceeded all my expectations and the yard looks awesome now. Outdoor Advantage folks arrived with a large crew and went right to work tirelessly digging out a huge 90 foot long by 4 foot wide dry riverbed and a chipping a paver walkway bed through rock hard August Maryland clay soil and tree roots. Dave stopped in day one to get things started and crew chief Jerry stayed with the workmen throughout the whole project set. Despite all the relocating of dry soil involved, they kept the yard and driveway cleaned up as they worked. The walkway looks amazing now with Techno Bloc Parisien sandalwood pavers installed and the river bed suits the existing landscaping perfectly. Even the man who weeded the overgrown flower bed impressed me. He was meticulous and careful and removed just the weeds and intruders and kept the lilies intact, he had a good gardener's eye. At my request the team stacked the intact old stepping stones in one corner of the yard for re-purposing and crushed up the broken ones for use in additional erosion control. They even re-edged the bed near the walkway with my own bricks and back-filled it with excess soil without being asked saving me several hours of follow on work. The crew made sure they swept up one last time before leaving and even strewed some grass seed on the disturbed spots to help re-grow the grass. Very professional, hard-working and well supervised group. Plan to have additional work done by them come spring.

The team was on time, equipped to do the job and got right to work. They saw immediately what the job entailed, asked questions and then got to work. They were through and fast. Would highly recommend.

ok but did not realize it is 4 guys for 2 hours- thought 8 hours meant a whole day
