Mirko came by on a Sunday to give me a free estimate. He also installed the furnace on a weekend, so I didn't have to miss work at my new job. He is very professional and did a great job!

Fantastic job by PCK -- flawless service from quotation to completion getting a Spackpak aircon installed at our house. This is the second big job at our house working with Mirko. His quote came in lower than two others but we chose this company not for the price, but because Mirko did a great job installing our boiler and we trust his work. Central air installation is a big endeavor and as with the boiler, he walked us through the stages, consulted us on the job in progress, and was always on time. The main thing you have to know about Mirko is that he is totally old school: He doesn't have the hyper detailed quote on fancy stationary and he doesn't give you the sales pitch. He evaluates the job, offers his recommendations, tells you a price (which in our experience with two big jobs, is always fair, and lower than the competitors) with a bit of info on the manufacturers he uses and why. Mirko then goes about his business with this absolute obsession with quality materials and workmanship. The guy takes such pride in going the extra mile to do a good job and its rare to see this emphasis on craftsmanship these days. He even installed little extras like an extra light fixture in my attic, and an extra outlet when I mentioned I wanted to install an attic fan. The other thing you should know about Mirko is that he prefers to do the work himself. The good thing about this is that he personally sees to the detail and quality. The disadvantage is that you wont get a 6 person team coming in and finishing the job in 3 days. (Mirko did finish our job earlier than promised. ) Mirko will take a little longer than the big franchise-like companies but in our estimation, you will get a better job at a better price. He is honest and straightforward and we liked working with him. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Mirko installed a single family home humidiifier to my HVAC system. He installed the humidifier and drainage pipe in less than 3 hours (I can't remember exactly). He was EXTREMELY responsive, timely, and clean. He was great with email and my millions of questions! He arrived right on time. I especially like how nice of a job he did. Everything looks clean. The instalation of the wires and pipes were done really well and not in the way of anything. I would HIGHLY recommend using PCK HVAC.

This review echoes those of others who have recently worked with Mirko. He responded promptly to my voice mail message, quoted me a price for the work, including inspection of our HVAC system prior to installation of a Nest Thermostat that we had purchased. He came out several days later, did the work, explained things while he was installing and inspecting, and charged exactly what he'd quoted. A thoroughly competent and pleasant fellow, a pleasure to talk to. We'll use him again.

I had great communication with Mirko and he arrived when he said he would and did a great job checking out my system and installing and setting up my new Nest thermostat for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend PCK.

When our Weil-McLain boiler stopped working last month, we had four HVAC companies come look at it. Three of them recommended replacing it and their estimates ranged from $8,900 to $17,000 to do so. One said our boiler was made in 1991 and the average age of this type of high efficiency boiler was only about 20 years, so it was time to replace it. When Mirko examined it, he said the expansion tank was too small, it was a 15-gallon tank when it needed to be a 60-gallon tank. He also said he thought the boiler was in good shape. He suggested that we at least let him try to fix the problem before replacing the boiler. He replaced the expansion tank and drained all of the radiators in our house. He also installed two shut-off valves that he said should have been installed originally. Bottom line, Mirko fixed the problem for $574. He did not try to sell us a new boiler when ours, which he determined was made in 1998, not '91, was still fine. This is the kind of service homeowners pray for and we are so appreciative of Mirko's work.

Bottom line: Mirko was excellent. He is exactly the kind of small independent contractor that Angieslist exists for to help us homeowners find. Mirko was exactly on time for the initial estimate (8am), to pickup the deposit check (5pm) and to do the work (8am). He actually showed up early each time then knocked on my door exactly at the time we agreed upon. His was one of three estimates I received. His estimate of $4500 came in $1000 less than one competitor and $1200 less than the other. The scope of the work that each described was almost exactly the same. Mirko gave me his estimate on the spot. The other two companies estimates took a few days to put together and send to me. I decided on Mirko based on price, his great reputation on Angieslist, and his clear knowledge of the work as he described what needed to be done. The work was well executed. Mirko repositioned the boiler in my utility room so that it fit better in the room and will be easier to maintain in future. This required him to cut out and replumb some extra piping, which he did at no extra cost. He didn't cut any corners with the equipment, all the bells and whistles are there, and used high quality materials including L type copper tubing (instead of the thinner, cheaper M type). He noticed a rust hole in my hot water heater pipe which he fixed, also at no extra charge. (I wasn't even aware I had that safety issue.) He then charged up the system, bled the air out of the radiators - one had a bad bleeder valve which he also replaced - again free of charge - and fired the heat up. The heat is glorious! I couldn't be happier with the work. I'd use him again in a heartbeat.

Marko installed a thermostat I had purchased. He also inspected the furnance. Job was done promptly, courteously, and professionally. He was also responsive to my limited time window to get the job done. It took a little longer than usual since it was a complicated thermostat he had not used before, but it has worked perfectly. Recommended.

They listened to the fact that the system is on the roof and brought the appropriate length ladder. They quickly found that a leak caused the circuit breaker to engage, fixed the leak, flipped back the breaker, tested the system. They system has worked fine since then.

We were very impressed by and personally liked Mirko. He showed up punctually (on a Saturday!) gave our unit a thorough exam as well as checking access points and replacement logistics. His cost estimation was very detailed and he also discussed the range of heat pump models and options available to us. He's clearly an expert and while we managed to get the unit running again, we won't hesitate to go to him once we have the replacement cost set aside. Highly recommended!

The owner of PCK HVAC LLC arrived on time and during a high heat period so there were a lot of open calls. He was punctual, professional and honest. I had done a preliminary inspection and could not assess what was wrong as the air conditioner consistently blew the electrical fuse. He assessed the situation and was able to confirm the capacitor needed to be replaced. The part was not a common one in stock, but he was able to order it and expedite to get in the following day. He inspected the other air conditioner and confirmed it was working well and did not need additional service. He was able to correct an incorrectly installed drain valve to allow proper draining which had caused some issues in the past. He was out the next day to install the parts and noted that the air conditioner needed to be charged. The cost estimate was accurate and he took the time to explain the issue and spent time needed to confirm no other issues were encountered. He also installed a programmable thermometer which centrally controls the AC and heat at a very cost competitive level. I reviewed their write-up in Angie's list which is how I called them for Service. AC service can have suspect service providers, but the write-up was spot on. PCK is friendly, prompt, reliable and honest! I will use them for all my AC servicing needs and I would recommend them to others without hesitation or reservation.

I noticed a gas smell in my HVAC closet, and called Tuesday afternoon - he came first thing Wednesday morning, right on time. My HVAC system was put together badly (I knew this from a few incidents, including when it was first used a year ago and the condensation pipe was dumping water in the condo below me because the pipe wasn't sealed) - the pipe was too long, loose, and had a dangerously improper connection. He fixed it quickly and expertly and talked to me about a few other issues. Very well done.

Everything was great from start to finish. Mirko was professional, punctual, and meticulous. He came on two Saturdays to do the installations so I did not have to take any time off work. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Working with Mirko was a very pleasant experience, and I highly recommend him. I called him on a Thursday, and he came to my house to assess the situation the next day. He identified that he needed to order a new motor for our furnace. He returned the following Wednesday to install the motor, which fixed our heating system.

I first requested a servicing of our current boiler which is about 20 years old. During the inspections , Mirko had identified a series of problems that our previous HVAC person did not spot. These are little things that only experience would catch: jury rigged wiring , little bypasses of code and safety, etc., all leading up to a sense that our boiler was no longer safe nor efficient. We agreed it was best to get a new one. Mirko was fast and efficient and the installation was top notch. The choice of boiler, the placement of pipes, the little improvements he made to the flow to the basement radiators, and super clean fit and finish all added up to a job really well done. Post installation I've made calls to him with a couple of followup questions and he was accommodating and quick to respond. I would have like a slightly more detailed quote process but its a minor issue. Mirko is professional, efficient and this emphasis on safety makes him a really good choice for the job. He is the guy for all of my work in the future. Highly recommended.

Called Mirko for an estimate to replace a boiler. He could have easily agreed with me and replaced the boiler, but he informed me that the boiler needed only minor repairs and would likely last another 5 - 10 years. The repairs were done quickly and professionally and he explained everything he did and why he did it. Upon completion, he informed me that he had also done a couple other small things that needed to be done. I told him that was fine and that I expected the agreed upon price to be increased somewhat to cover those additional items. He told me not to worry. He would stick to his original price, which was well below another estimate I had received. I will continue to call Mirko in the future and will refer him to all my friends. Outstanding!

I called Mirko earlier in the week based on reviews on Angie's List about replacing a gas valve on our boiler (I only knew the issue was the gas valve as we had previously had another company inspect the problem but they quoted us a very higher price to replace the part but we were able to use a temporary solution at that time). Mirko was very responsive, quickly reviewed the pictures that I sent him, provided a quote for the part and service that was incredibly reasonable and had the part ordered and the work done by the end of the same week. I highly recommend this company and will continue to use them in the future!

We had a fantastic experience with Mirko. Completely professional from start to finish and truly a master mechanic. He repaired our humidifier free of charge even though several other companies told us it was irreparable. Mirko is also very responsive and was patient answering our many questions. I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend him to a friend.

The repairman showed up very soon after we called, had the part we needed (in his pocket; didn't even need to go back out to his van for it!), and completed the repair quickly. It's worked perfectly, ever since. He explained well what caused the problem, and was interesting and informative to talk with about other potential future work, such as replacing ducts and/or the entire furnace.

Dealing with Mirko was a pleasure, and his professionalism and quality of work were unsurpassed. Our project was difficult, because a number of shortcuts had been taken when the AC was first installed in our old (1929) house, including placing the air exchanger such that it blocked the attic. Mirko explained our options very clearly, and without trying to steer us toward the most expensive one. He used great ingenuity in coming up with ways to install the new unit, ducts, etc. in ways that would maximize our access to the attic. The work was very strenuous, because our attic steps are very steep and narrow- yet, when the work was finished, Mirko went above and beyond by offering to help us move boxes back into the attic! (We didn't take him up on that, because it certainly was not something the contract called for him to do, and he had done more than enough to justify what he had charged us.) Mirko takes great and justifiable pride in his work; and he ensures its quality by doing the work in person. We would have complete confidence in using him again.

Hands down Mirko was the best contractor I have ever hired. He truly cares about the satisfaction of the customer. I hired PCK to remove my 45 year old furnace and install a new high efficiency furnace in a separate room in my basement. This involved moving the majority of pipes that carried the hot water to the rest of the radiators throughout the house which was no small feat considering it?s a quirky 90 year old home. Every step of the way Mirko walked me through the process of what he was doing and why. I just can?t say enough about him, his work was meticulous and his friendly demeanor made it a pleasure to do business with him. I?ve even had friends comment on the quality of his work. Through his design, he was actually able to increase the useable space within my basement by 20%. I couldn?t have asked for more. I can honestly say I will never hire anyone but PCK for my HVAC needs. Do yourself a favor and hire Mirko.

In the 20 years I've lived in my 12,000 square foot DC rowhouse, the AC systems originally installed never worked properly to cool my home. I could never get the temperature below 85 degrees on the top two floors of my home if the outside temperature happened to be in the 90's. The lower two floors of my home could never drop below 78 degrees. I had the equipment for the top two floors replaced 6 years ago but it made no difference and I was told by the AC company that I would need to create a separate zone for each of the top two floors (requiring the installation of an additional air handler and compressor) to ensure proper cooling. I gave up and didn't worry about it since we rarely use the top two floors. When the AC stopped cooling the lower two floors of my home this summer, I contacted three highly ranked AC firms on Angies List. All three were able to visit my home within 1 to 3 days. One never gave me a written bid for the work and the other two gave me written bids--all three of which were fairly close. I decided to go with PCK because Mirko, the owner and sole full-time employee of PCK, appeared to be genuinely interested in ensuring that my entire home would cool properly rather than in simply selling me new equipment for one zone. Two weeks after the contract was signed, my home is now cooling better than it ever has. For the first time, the temperature on my two upper floors can drop into the 70s on a day when the outside temperature is in the 90s. I never thought that possible and I'm indebted to Mirko. Even after the installation, he would call me every day for a week to check on the current temperature of the different floors in my home. That's service!

Mirko is not going to waste your time or money. He knows HVAC inside and out and works to find solutions that are in your best interest. As an example, Mirko discovered that in our newly purchased home we have two air-handling units (one of which is handmade) running off a single condenser unit, something our inspector didn?t catch. While an odd configuration and not ideal, the units are appropriately cooling their designated areas. Mirko suggested we monitor the cooling effects, noting any changes or issues, and he would do the same during his maintenance checks. Together we would decide what, if any, course of action to take. Mirko is extremely reliable, trustworthy, and he really knows his stuff! Hire him with confidence.

Mirko did the work in about a week of working most of each day. I left a key with him, and didn't worry about it. He came with somebody else to help and they very cheerfully did all the work while I did other things or was at work. Mirko consulted with me every time there was a decision that had to be made. And because I had a ton of stuff in the closets that he needed, I had to empty the space ahead of him. He would just tell me what he needed, and I would do that before he came. It was pretty low stress.Mirko kept things clean, and did really a nice job. The AC came on just before our big really hot week, and I was delighted to have it. It has worked really nicely. One of the storms had a power fluctuation that made the system shut off, and Mirko worked me through it on the phone, staying with me the whole time, to make sure it was working. He was very responsive to me in the one time I've needed something, and I trust him when he says that he will absolutely guarantee his work. I have no reservations in recommending his work and him personally. He really focuses on your job, and gets it done, rather than stringing you along doing a bunch of jobs at the same time. He really is what you want in a contractor: friendly, honest, and very competent.
