The Gutter Guys

Received a call back yesterday from "Dan". Very abrasive and short with me (apparently unhappy with my comments on Angie's list). His concern was that they were never paid any money from me, that if I paid any money it was to Angie's list. He continued to make excuses and complaints about my not being responsive or available to meet with them. I never intended to meet with them, they looked at 2 properties, gave me a reasonable estimate(2 out of 3 x's), I verbally authorized them to do the work (on one property).... then they never did the work? Dan was very short and not very interested in hearing my concerns.... I still need the work done so I listened to all the excuses why it was my fault that the work hadn't been done then... I offered to let them come install the gutters (for one property) I agreed to months ago. Dan then advised me they "would not do the work until I retracted my comments from Angie's list". I advised them to come do the work properly and punctually and I would upgrade their ratings. Dan then said " I do not think we are interested in working for you". I will say that I may have been less than diligent to chase them to do this work, however, I do not think it is the customers responsibility to chase the contractor. As a Professional in the industry of home repairs and services, I do not expect my customers to beg to give me work, nor do I think that it is their responsibility to chase me. The is a lot of competition out there. So the bottom line is I paid for gutter cleaning, was (appropriately) told I needed new gutters and downspouts, but will have to be out the money paid, and find a more responsive contractor. It is a shame because I was seeking a competent gutter contractor to refer to my 2000+ homeowners that I serve in the area!

Great -- had tenants in property, but work appeared to be completed and done professionally.

They did a wonderful job. They did great work and came out right away. They were done in less than three hours. I would highly recommend them and I would use them again in the future.

I got busy and forgot the info. That had me start over with my estimates and decided to go with someone else.

There was an unavoidable delay between initially scheduling our appointment and getting the initial work done because we had to wait for a warm spell so the ice in the gutters could thaw. As soon as we got a few warm days in a row, they immediately called us to schedule the work. The work crew arrived right on time and seemed very thorough from what I saw - visible junk was removed from the gutters. They also were able to make a minor fix for us - a piece of siding had come loose and could easily be put back in place, but we didn't have a ladder tall enough to reach it. They were happy to bring their tall ladder and pop it back in place. All in all great work and I'd be happy to hire them again.

It went GREAT! While I knew there were no hidden issues (gutters were not ready to fall down, pieces of downspout missing), I actually liked that they drove by to confirm the scope of the work before they quoted a firm price). I wanted it fixed quickly so there would be no water coming out of the spout and possibly damaging the garden around the foundation. They came over the day promised and quickly did the work, reinstalling the downspoit and cleaning the gutters. I also liked they were all professional. I would strongly recommend Gutter Guys and I would use them again.

They did an excellent job on everything. They arrived when they said they would, installed everything as called for in the contract, and removed all trash and debris from the site.

Response to my email request for an estimate appointment was scheduled promptly. The estimator arrived on time, provided a written estimate and appointment was made for installation. The new gutters were installed as promised and on the scheduled date. New gutters and downspouts look wonderful. There was no debris left after the completion of the job. We are very happy that we choose Gutter Guys to replace the gutters and downspouts on our horse barns.

The work was good but the follow up wasn't great. I had to call them to make sure they did the work at my rental property.

The crew arrived as expected and began work. It was estimated the work would take one-day. They worked throughout the day but was unable to complete the work. The crew-leader stated they would return the next day (Saturday) as they needed a few more hours to complete the task. They were apologetic for not completing the task. They also provided us with tickets to the Md. home show. - which we were planning on attending. The crew arrived and began working. Initially the crew thought they would need only a couple hours to wrap things up but t his turned out to be much of the day. They did an exceptional job and our downspouts and gutters look very nice. The downspouts and gutters were immediately put to the test during the blizzard of 2013. With the volume of rain (not snow) we received there was not spillage over the gutters as we had experienced with our previous gutters. Needless to say we consider this a win. We are very pleased with the crew and the performance of the gutters and downspouts. Additionally, we contacted three other Angie List gutters and downspout professionals that were rated at the A-level. Gutters Guys provided the best estimate in terms of the budget and time-frame to complete the task. We highly recommend the Gutter-Guys if you need this type of work.

I called the 800 number and a real human answered and scheduled an appointment at my convenience. James came, on time, and provided an estimate for the job and answered all my questions patiently. And he happily took my Angie's List coupon. Less than a week later, they were out to do the job. The quality of the materials was noticeably better than what my builder had originally installed. The work was neat and the work area was left as it was found...no mess. They were even nice enough to remove an old bees nest at the very top of the gable (35 feet up, where I could never get to it). A day after the install, I had a question about the slope which James and his crew answered in a matter of 20 minutes. Very easy and I was satisfied with their answer. It rained the very next day and all the water shed as it should, MUCH better than what it replaced. It was our first rain without water overrunning or dripping off the gutters in years! And the fascia replacement was done well....matches everything perfectly. While we might have been able to save a couple of dollars shopping around more, these guys did a perfect job. And given that I have another area of gutters with questionable slope, I will probably have them out again this spring. Thoroughly pleased.

It was still a little high for me but the manager/owner/operator of the Essex branch (Dan Harrison) was very patient with me in this regard. I can't stress enough how Dan was extremely accommodating with me in regards to financial issues. He offered to charge $560 to clean the gutters and install gutter guards on the 2 shorter sides of the house. I really appreciate his help with this and I will definitely be using them in the near future to finish up the job. Great customer service.

Gutters were coming off the roof following hurricane sandy. Called early November based on Angie's list reviews. Return call quickly, set up appointment. He recommended new gutters and downspouts, good price. Inital timeline was for mid-January work. A slot opened up, replacement done 5 Dec, very punctual, priced as estimated.

They did a great job replacing gutters, looks great. On time and on budget.

There is no dramatic story here. These folks were absolutely great. Think of everything you want in a contractor, and these guys have it all!!

We initially asked for an estimate for a small section of the rain gutter after a tree fell on it in the backyard. They came on time and did an estimate on the spot. The price was so good that I asked for an estimate for the entire house and it was $1,280. After that I told them about the 10% Angie's list discount and the estimator honored it and revised the estimate to $1152. They came on time and did the work very quickly and professionally. The only thing that concerned me at first was their insistence to be paid the same day as the work. Since I was not going to be there, they asked for my credit card number so that they can charge it the same day. I was at first annoyed since I prefer to receive the invoice later after I inspected the work. However, the owner was very pleasant on the phone and reassured me that I can always stop the credit card payment if I was not satisfied. After they did the work I noticed that they had missed a nail and called them the same day. The next day they sent someone out who fixed it perfectly. The work was excellent and the new gutters were continuous with no seams and now we don't have the annoying dripping that used to occur at the old seams. If you are hesitant about paying upfront, don't be. They are very serious about maintaining a strong reputation, and giving them a credit card number (not a debit card) was a very reasonable and satisfactory compromise.

The representative who came to my home was very informative and helpful - giving me options for repair or replacing. I decided to replace all of the gutters, and wanted guards installed as well. He assisted with my choice of color for the guards, and it is perfect. The installers arrived on time, did a great job, and cleaned/removed all debris. I was very pleased wtih this company, and will recommend them to family and friends. I would definitely use them again!

Matt came on 12/28 and discussed the problem with me and came to the same conclusions I did. He said the service including any parts would be $150.00. The work was scheduled for January 8. Josh, Nick and Derryl came on time and quickly did the necessary repairs. The were courteous and professional and were very concious of the need to cleanup as they did the work. I am a very satisfied customer.

We needed the rainspouts, downspouts, and partial fascia replaced on my parents old home (we're planning to put it on the market soon). It was a pretty big job, and we didn't have a lot of money to throw around, but these guys really understood that. We called them in mid-December, and my mom spoke with Dan, who was very polite and understanding. He sent out one of his reps, James, the following Saturday, and he was right on time, explained everything, and gave us an up-front estimate with no charge for coming out. There were some delays in getting the work done, but it was through no fault of this company. It's wintertime, and the weather prevented them from coming out. But Dan always communicated with my mom so she'd know what the new plan was for coming out to do the work. They did the work on a Wednesday, and Dan called that day to let us know they were there and doing the work. They did a fabulous job! We're very happy with the work they did and we would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs their gutters replaced.

They had not shown up in the two week period so I called and they explained it was weather problems. I would have preferred they be a bit more proactive in keeping me informed as to when the work would be done. We then set a date and they were right on time. When they did show up, they did a great job and explained what was being done and why. Generally a professional crew.

From start to finish a very pleasant experience. The estimator James was prompt for appointment and professional. Had several other estimates including from the roofing contractor and James had the best price. James completely explained their system and assured me they would be able to do the work "soon" after the new roof was completed as the roofer was removing the old galvanized gutters and wrapping the facia. Was going to go with 6" gutters but James convinced me that 5" with 3x4 downspouts was sufficient. When roof was completed (took 4 days) called the office and was promptly scheduled for early the next week. Eric and crew arrived on time and completed the job in one day. Two days later we had a severe thunderstorm and sent the office a picture of one area that needed another downspout. Crew was back the next day and fixed the problem. After all leaves were down, also had them clean the gutters and again the crew run by Denny was prompt and professional and did a great job cleaning up all debris. Since will be moving in the next several years, did not have the gutter cover system installed as cost to clean gutters once a year was very reasonable. If staying, would have had their cover system installed.

Had an appointment for an estimate. He arrived early and I got a great education on gutters. He gave me a good quote. I was able to schedule the appointment quickly once I got approval from my home owners association. The workers arrived early and I didn't have to be there while they completed the work, which was a big plus. I simply left a check for them. The work was done beautifully and everything was cleaned up. I would definitely recommend them to others.

They were an hour early, very professional and very quick. I think they were in and out in around 30 mins. They took the old gutter off and out to dispose of it and replaced it with a brand new gutter. I couldn't have imagined this process going any smoother with another company, they were that good, quick and efficient. We were originally told it would take around 5 weeks to get out b/c they were so backed up but that ended up being only about 2 weeks. Excellent communication with us and another estimate we received for the exact same work was priced around $500. So glad we found the Gutter Guys through Angies's List instead - they were awesome and saved us money!
