A&G was great to work with. We had gotten several estimates and theirs was the most reasonable. I also had a personal reference from a realtor friend. Jose, the crew leader, was great. Except for one day when the schedule shifted somehow, they arrived right when they predicted. The work took four days. The office folks were responsive by phone and email.6

It was unbelievable. It was great. I wasn't even there to supervise them or to check-in or anything and they did a wonderful job. It was small cape cod, four bedrooms and they redid the floors to perfection. It was cheaper than a lot of places. They refinished the floors in the exact color I asked for and the job was perfection.

My floors are absolutely gorgeous! They got rid of all of the stains that had accumulated over time where the finish had worn away. They replaced all of the quarter-inch molding around the floors, and made it look perfect. Even better, their customer service team was excellent, working with me to do a quick-turn-around job, providing me detailed and clear estimations on the work, cost, and timeline.

The company provided the information in advance on how to prepare for the project. The man in charge, Osmin, was very thoughtful and thorough. He made suggestions on how to make the transition from the newly refinished room to previously done floors to be invisible. It was clear the guys cared to do the job as perfect as possible. The crew came on time and did the work in less time than in original conservative estimates. The quality of work is great. We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend the company.

I loved everything about AG floors. Yazmin came out for the estimate on a Saturday (thank you!) and was absolutely wonderful. Personable, professional, and on time. She was able to schedule the work right away and Teresa in the office was responsive and able to work with my schedule. There was considerable staining and water damage to the floors, but their crew (who was also so personable and professional) did such a meticulous job that you can barely tell! Estimate process was very smooth. All the work was completed in about a week. We are very happy with the results.

Wonderful company! The sales rep who visited my house to give me an estimate was prompt, professional, and very knowledgeable. She told me exactly what the company could and couldn't do. My biggest concern was about dust, and she was very realistic and accurate in her description of what I should expect. She told me where they would not be able to avoid staining painted trim, and that I would need to do touch up painting on molding. There were no surprises! The team members that did the work were great. Very professional and hard-working. They arrived every day at 8am on the dot, and worked many days till 6pm. It was an arduous job, as every step and the whole bannister had to be stripped and sanded by hand. They were meticulous in covering up the areas to be sanded with plastic tarp, and careful to turn off the hvac system. They covered smoke alarms. They made several custom stain combinations for me to choose from, and were patient as I decided. The final color is perfect. They returned each day to complete the next step--stain, sealer, topcoat, cleanup. The shoe mold was stained and coated to match the floor. They wiped all the walls down at the end of the job to remove most of the dust. I was really very happily surprised at how little dust migrated to the rest of the house. The information and preparation list they gave me before the job started answered all my questions. They hardest part is waiting two weeks till I put my carpets back in place. Great company, great work, and I highly recommend them!

The work was done well & on time. I was called when they noticed something extra that should be done.

They did a beautiful job and we are very pleased with the results. Theresa from the office called each evening prior to their arrival to tell us the time they would arrive, and they were always prompt. Everyone from the estimator, office, and workers were professional and polite. The entire process went very smoothly, and our floors are beautiful.

****BUYER BEWARE** Please see the above comments. The provider at AG floors stated they could lay 300 sq ft of wood floors we already purchased. The floors needed leveling and base boards. When the contractor showed up she stated she could perform the service. The workman came the following Saturday to lay the floors. I asked if they were going to put in the base boards and they said they could not put in the base boards. The lady I spoke with became downright caustic and derisive when I asked her why they wouldn't put in the base boards. She said the base boards werent part of the original contract, which was unclear because we discussed it verbally. I told AG Floors if the couldnt lay the base boards then they would have to stop the work. She said they would lay the base boards after the floor was done, which would've been completely wrong. All of the the other rooms baseboards were installed prior to the floor being laid. She immediately called her workmen to stop the work and they cleaned up and left. The job remains completely unfinished and this was one of the worst contracting experiences I've ever had. I highly suggest you consider another professional company before working with AG floors. This company clearly tries to cut corners, and lacks the professional quality I expect from an Angie's List company. I asked the worker why he would not lay the base boards since I pre bought all of the materials and he said because they did not bring the right set of metal screws. **UPDATE** AG Floors tried to fraudulently charge my credit card even thought didn't do any work. I had to cancel my card and have the charges reversed. I added pictures of the unfinished floors after they decided to stop the work. They still tried to charge me $1100.00 dollars.

It was good. I would like to see them be a little bit more thorough and careful with some of the little details of the refinishing.

Overall, I am happy with the results of the refinishing job by AG Floors. I received estimates from five service providers on Angie's List, and ended up going with AG Floors based on the positive reviews and price. Yazmin showed up as scheduled to provide the estimate, which was provided immediately after she assessed all the floors. The workers showed up during the scheduled timeframe to begin the work. They were polite and immediately got to work. Jose asked me to stop back around lunch time to select a stain color. When trying to choose the stain color Jose pointed out the pros and cons of each one given the condition of my floors. I found this very helpful in selecting a color. They did a great job removing stains on the floor that we weren?t sure would come out. AG Floors was very accommodating when I needed to push the job back a week. They also provided daily updates on the status of the job as it progressed. The only thing I was dissatisfied with was the trash that was left in and around my house when the job was complete. I had to pick up a facemask, water bottles, a stained rag, a coffee cup, and a few sugar packets.

The entire job went smoothly. Anibal and Manuel did excellent work on the floors. They arrived promptIy every day at the appointed time. Both men were perfectionists with their part of the project. I paid a little extra to get an additional third coat of poly, and it was well worth it. The floors have a soft smooth luster. Both men were very careful moving the furniture out and then placing it back in. There was some dust kicked up in the treated rooms, but they were sealed off from the remainder of the house so no dust drifted into the other rooms. Yazmin was my estimator who also helped in selecting just the right color and quality carpeting for the stairs. Jessica, the office administrator kept me informed about dates and arrival times so that I could plan my day. The carpeting went in quickly and looks great. I am so pleased with not only the finished product, but also the attention and care taken by AG FLOORS in completing this project. I am planning to have them do my living room and dining room. I highly recommend this company.

AG floors was without a question the right choice for this home improvement project. They completely changed the look and feel of my home. The entire process was so easy. I received an estimate the same day when they came to my house to look at the scope. They provided great recommendations for flooring material. AG Floors arrived, worked and finished the project all according to the timeline they laid out from the very beginning. They also completed the entire job while I was on vacation! I could not be happier with the finished project! Thanks AG Floors! I will use your services again!

Extremely satisfied with the job. Outstanding craftsmanship, great communication from the office. Cost was reasonable.

Unfortunately, 18 months after the carpet was installed in my son's room, the carpet has started to buckle in three large areas. I spoke with AG floors this morning and was told that I am outside of the warranty period. While I understand the concept of a warranty period, carpet buckling 18 months after installation in a baby's room that is not a high traffic area is a sign of workmanship issues. AG floors has advised me that it will cost $275 for the carpet to be stretched back out. The total cost of carpet for in that room was approximately $500. UPDATE: After a few telephone conversations, AG Floors sent someone out to look at the carpet and they repaired the buckling on the spot at no cost. I appreciate the follow through.

I am thrilled with the results of my hardwood refinishing by AG Floors. I contacted the top two or three service providers on Angie's List, and ended up going with AG Floors. They were extremely professional from start to finish. The crew worked so hard to make everything just right. The repairs that they did were flawless. My house is a 1952 rambler, which I purchased "as is." It needs lots of updating, but this single improvement did so much to make the house feel clean and new. It really motivates me to keep going with other improvements. They were patient with me in showing me different stains, when I was unsure of the color that I wanted. Overall, I could not be more pleased. I have already recommended them to a colleague, and would absolutely use them again. I don't even typically write reviews, but I am so enthusiastic about this company that I didn't want to miss this opportunity. I had used another Baltimore based company to refinish the floors in a rental house of mine, and they did a good job too. But after seeing the work of AG Floors, I realized that there is another level of excellence that is out there.

In the process of refinishing the hardwood floors, they were able to remove multiple scratches and finish the job ahead of schedule. Once they finished, we noticed a minor oversight. They came out and addressed the issue promptly to ensure we were fully satisfied. The staff they sent was professional, friendly, and on schedule.

I received a call from the "estimator" the morning of the scheduled appointment. She asked to move previously scheduled appointment to an earlier time. I could not do that time and explained that I was not in the house. She refused to honor scheduled appointment time and claimed that appointment time was wrong, even though that time was only half an hour later than what they allegedly had scheduled (but nonetheless wanted to move). They made no effort to honor the scheduled appointment and wanted to operate only on their schedule. Not a great start to customer service and not someone I would trust to handle the big job I had planned.

Overall, the job went smoothly. AG Floors staff were prompt and professional from start to finish. For context, we called 10 flooring specialists in the Washington Metro area, with three providing verbal estimates ($15K, $13K, $10,700), and only one providing a written estimate - which was AG Floors. They were also the lowest bidder. Our experience in seeking bids is that service providers are highly variable in terms of reliability and customer service. AG Floors was by far the most straightforward we dealt with. Installation required moving furniture from room to room and an estimated four days of work to lay the floor. They were able to finish the job in three days with some additional OT on day three. There were some minor issues during the installation that they were able to address to our satisfaction. Overall quality was good - they did an excellent job of coping around the door-frame molding in our 1928 condo. There were numerous small spots of damage to the wall paint or spots of stain on the walls (from shoe-molding which was stained on-site). There were also a few spots of very minor damage to the newly installed floors. Overall though, these were not major issues and were expected with the square footage of this installation and natural variability in the product. After living with the new floors for over two months, those spots and issues are not at all noticeable. Of note is that the installers did not speak English. Also not a major issue, but it did necessitate a go-between with the AG Office for issue resolution. In our experience, if you have an older home or a smaller job, you will not be able to get professional service from most installers, who have a significant preference from new construction or empty units. That said, AG Floors did live up to their reputation and ratings found on Angie's list. We would recommend them and would hire them again.

AG Floors was the lowest bid. But, in addition to the refinishing, we also needed a minor repair made to the stairs. (One of the treads needed to be reinforced.) So, we ended up going with another company because they were willing to do the repair and the refinishing. AG came right out and said that wasn't their specialty and that we'd have to hire someone else for the repair. I respected their honesty, and I would recommend them.

Sales rep Samuel was thorough and professional when coming to our house and providing an estimate. He noted some quirks to our house that other reps did not that the installers would need to be aware of before starting. Estimate was competitive with other businesses. Installers Edgar and Will were prompt and thorough. They communicated possible problem spots and were able to provide solutions. They were very friendly and very efficient. Overall, we are really happy with the work AG Floors did. The floors look great.

They arrived on time. The area to be refinished was sealed off with plastic sheeting floor to ceiling. After sanding and scraping a stain & sealer was applied. That smelled a lot for 1-2 hours while it dried. They then applied two coats of clear sealer (no bad odor); waiting in-between coats for it to dry. Removed the plastic sheeting and cleaned up. Start to finish about six hours. Looks great. VERY professional. Will have them do dinning area in fall when windows can be opened to let odor out.

We wanted to provide an to our review from August 2014: (From August 2014) Consumer beware! AG Floors offered a decent price but showed remarkable incompetence. We needed to get our living room, dining room, hall and kitchen floors sanded and refinished while we were away on vacation, and AG committed ? several times, in person and by phone ? to start the work on Aug. 15 and complete it by Aug. 19, because we were returning home with our three young children on Aug. 21 and wanted the fumes to be mostly gone. The contract also specified that AG would move and replace the furniture. On Aug. 15, when they showed up to begin the work, AG called to say that they would need at least a week to complete the work and would not, in fact, be done by Aug. 19, allegedly because of the size of the couch. This makes no sense; an experienced AG employee obviously saw the couch when he walked through the house and wrote up the proposal. In response to our frustration and anger, AG offered to do part of the work now and the rest after we returned, but that?s precisely what we wanted to avoid. We?ve lost our only opportunity ? until next year ? to get this work done while we were away. It is incredible that this company, whose business is doing floors, failed to provide an accurate time estimate, to our great detriment. July 2015: When we returned from our vacation last summer in August 2014 after having written the review above, we found that, when AG Floors was in our house, they had moved our refrigerator to start the work in the kitchen. When they did, they left a huge scratch on the floor that crossed most of the middle of the kitchen floor. They were not at all apologetic and originally made no offer to compensate us for the scratch. After a great deal of back-and-forth with the, ultimately, the owner agreed to deduct $300 from the price of refinishing the floors. The problem then became finding a time when we could be out of the house again for 8+ days to allow the work on the floors to be done. That opportunity didn?t come for us again until this summer, August 2015. We called AG Floors again to see if they would do the work and honor their commitment to compensate us for what was now a year of living with a huge scratch in the middle of our kitchen floor. They said no. I asked to speak with the owner about this and he never returned my call.
