AG Floors

This company was great to work with. They came promptly and gave me an estimate for the work. I signed the contract and scheduled the work the same day. I needed to change the date the work was done because of some family issues that came up. I rescheduled with no problem and they showed up on time and completed the work on time. The quality is excellent and I would use this company again.

Samuel, the owner, came to make estimation and gave the best price among the bidders. The two-person crew came on time as scheduled, and it took them two mornings to complete the work. They were very good at what they do and their work ethics were excellent. Fred (?) was able to find the exact color to match the floor color in another room and the result is very good. I am very happy with their work.

They arrived on time. Quickly sanded a small area and applied sample stains for me to choose from. They finished everything in 3 days. Told me it would be two weeks before the floors are completely dry, although they can be walked on much sooner. The floors look beautiful. There are some stains they couldn't get out but that is not unusual for floors this old. I had asked them to leave an empty container of each product they used, for my future reference, but they didn't do it. I followed up with the owner and he provided a list of the products used. They provided a page of floor care and cleaning recommendations with my receipt.

The salesman came on time to his appointment, measured and gave a price. The workers showed up on the scheduled date at the scheduled time. They offered us the opportunity to pick our floor color with sample colors placed directly on our floors. The workers were very helpful in picking the right color. They finished in two days and left the place clean. THE FLOORS LOOK AMAZING. We couldn't be happier with the results, especially considering what the floors looked like before AG arrived. We would definitely use them again.

The estimator arrived as scheduled; after we discussed what we wanted done and he measured the area, he gave us an estimate before leaving. After we got another estimate, we called him back and were able to arrange to have the work start the following week. We arranged to have the work done in two stages so that we could move the living room and dining room furniture to the family room while they refinished the floors at the front half of the house. Several days later, after we had moved all of the furniture to the living room and dining room, they came back and refinished the floors in the back half of the house. The workers arrived on time and did the work as scheduled. They put up lots of plastic to protect cabinets and other rooms from the dust and as a result there wasn't too much clean-up to do after they were done. They did a wonderful job and the refinished floors are beautiful. The flooring had been installed at two different times and this had been obvious before they were refinished. After the refinishing, there is no longer a line between the two areas and the kitchen and family room floors look much better than they did right after they were initially installed.

Overall it went well. I called at least five companies, and AG Floors and one other were the only companies that agreed to come out and evaluate the floors before giving me an estimate. Their price was also by far the best. AG Floors workers didn't make it during the estimated 8 am - 9 am arrival window that the company promised, but they were only about half an hour late, which wasn't too bad considering that some other people I called didn't show up at the scheduled time. The work was scheduled promptly, and it took three days, exactly as much as estimated. I wanted a particular stain, and AG Floors followed my instructions exactly. I am very happy with the color. The floor is fairly smooth and my floors look pretty and new, even though I have some lingering doubts about whether the floors were buffed enough. The company also said it would remove the old carpeting -- by accident they left a small piece of carpet and a small piece of wood molding, but these aren't huge deficiencies. Installing hardwood floors creates dust -- this is inevitable with any hardwood floor installation. In general, I felt that AG Floors provided a good combination of value and quality. I would use the company again.

Excellent job. Samuel Angel provided estimate day after call and work performed within week of my request. Samuel also came to house during work to respond to a sanding question that turned out not to be a problem. Workers VERY tidy, professional and very accommodating to schedule problems. Final cost higher because needed to replace 15 parquet tiles, but after sanding/finishing tiles blended perfectly. Unfortunately, we did not realize job was a two(not one)day effort, so workers agreed to return during second evening(rather than during the day)to finish work(after working another house during the day). When we arrived next morning, floors beautiful. Could not find any problem. Soon after, Samuel called to check on any problems-told him couldn't find any!

They were chosen because of their "A" rating in Angie's list and because they provided the lowest estimate of the 3 companies that gave us estimates. The living/dining room measures 26' x 14' and the bedroom measures 11' x 12'. The hallway is only about 24 sq. ft. The estimate for the floor refinishing alone was $930. This included sanding, sealing and applying 2 coats of water-based polyurethane and finishing. This doesn't include new shoe molding since ours was still in good shape nor does it include a charge for furniture removal because we did it ourselves. Two workers completed the work in two days and it looks great. They cleaned up very thoroughly and didn't cause an collateral damage. They were careful to put up plastic around room doors to prevent the wood dust from going in the other rooms. We did have to run fans upstairs for a couple of days to clear out the odor but this is normal.

The job was exceptional. The estimate was scheduled within a few days of calling and the work started the day after the estimate was accepted. The work was top notch from beginning to end. All work was done with the utmost care and the results were amazing. The floors had been hidden under carpet for over 25 years and never been refinished. The transformation was stunning. The house was clean and nearly dust free at the job completion. We would hire AG Floors again and again and recommend them to anyone.

The company was very responsive to our questions and Juan spent ample time explaining the various finishing options and special ordering for us. The re-finishers were very good and the results are beautiful - the boards that replaced the damaged ones are not distinguishable from the original floor. The house cleaners did a good thorough job, too.

Excellent. I was very pleased beginning to end. I got two bids for the work. AG was slightly lower. Based on price and a positive review on Angies List, I used this company. Very responsive to my initial phone call. Very prompt in providing estimate (and careful with estimate, because the attic floor did not have a sub floor.)Scheduled work at my convenience. Office staff sent a detailed explanation of the process that would be used -- how long the work would take, how much dust to expect, power voltage required, etc. Workers were on time, courteous and very professional. Office staff called each evening to let me know when workers would arrive next day. Everything was just as described. I would definitely recommend to others.

We have our house on the market and it was vacant so we gave the two man crew a key to do the job. They arrived on time and were very professional. We had 3 dogs and 2 cats over the 27 years at our home and the floors in some area were badly stained. AG Floors were able to sand it down and get about 90% of all the stains. We were truly amazed, we thought they made get about 50% of the real bad stains at best. The entire job took about 4 days off and on. When the job was finished we were truly surprised on how beautiful the floors looks and with the red mahogany stain, the really bad old stains were hardly noticeable through the red mahogany. There were hardly any dust on the baseboards, window sills, or walls even though we were told that there may be 10% residuals from the sanding. Their sander and vacuum did a great job with the dust and the old stains. The lights were on, the blinds and drapes were not hung back up probably to dry the stain faster with the lights and sun.

Great. Very responsive and accommodating and did a fantastic, detailed job. Much had work was required. The teams were always very friendly and professional.

Their price was the lowest, but after specifically being told by the salesman that they would use their own employees and check the subfloor for problems before starting installation, that clearly was not the case. Only one of the three young men dropped off at my house spoke English, and I had to call the salesman back out to clarify the work to be done. They left trash in the front yard, and were unprofessional. The end result is adequate, but I would not use them again.

The floors looked okay when the job was "finished." However, stain was dripped on all four walls of each of the rooms, often in multiple places. These were not small stains; they were very visible. Also, the replacement molding that AG installed was severely mismatched i.e., extremely light pieces adjoined very dark ones. It looked horrid. When I called about these problems, AG responded as follows: They came out to look at the job. Then they said there was nothing wrong with the molding; it was supposed to be mismatched. I had to fight vigorously to get even ONE particularly vile-looking piece replaced. (Anyone who entered the room noticed the problem immediately.) AG made no excuses re the wall stains, but, after first agreeing to send a painter to fix the walls, later tried to back out by giving me a very small credit instead. I refused and again had to engage in battle to get the work done. AG is sloppy. If you use them, you need to be present for and watch the whole job.

They did a very good job. However, anyone must keep in mind, despite the vacuum equipment, your walls will be covered in sand.

If you get the right people, they do an excellent job. But miscommunication between their office and workers can cause some workers to do work they aren't well trained to do. Then, you need to argue with the office personnel. And they are not great about fixing things unless you really stick with it. If they would only improve their communication and record keeping, they would be an excellent company. Workers were generally very pleasant and careful - and some of their work was beautiful. "Kevin" is very good.

They were on time, professional and did a pretty decent job cleaning up each day (took 2 1/2 days overall to finish job, and they had estimated about 3). They sent an email in advance with an overview of what to expect, and afterward provided more instructions for how to clean and care for the new floor.

Company arrived just a few minutes after the 30 minute window they provided previously. Crew was nice and patient, they cleaned up after themselves, and worked long hours. I went with this company after they had provided assurances that want I wanted could be done--repairing the old floors and providing consistency to them with the small areas that needed to be repaired. Company and rep Yasmin were very good at preparing me for what to expect for time, inconvenience, and maintenance. But crew was not well-informed on some things they should have known--like thresholds being replaced, and types of damage. Repair to wood was more unprofessional than I expected (sq wood pegs w woodgrain reversed into round holes). Five areas of the floor were damaged in the process of repairing three spots and not later repaired. Stain was applied unevenly, and even to the edge of my carpeting in the attached hallway. Wood putty not close to matching. Stain dripped on front porch, stairs and into basement

This company is excellent. I did six estimates and they were second best on price. What really sold me was their service. The workers were on-time, kept dust to a minimum, finished completely in 3 days, and the work looks fabulous. I would use them for all hardwood needs.

The estimate was 1/2 the price quoted by another Rockville-based company. Scheduling was easy, and the workers were prompt and friendly. They cleaned after themselves (even covered the inside of the closets with plastic sheets to limit the amount of dust). The floors look great!

We were very pleased with the whole experience. The floors are beautiful and the stain matches the new floors. The workers were very professional and cleaned up everyday. When I called the owner with a concern, he came out and took care of it. I would use them again. They are not the least expensive but they do a quality job and I used them because of Angie's List.
